I don't know what to call this RP. Emily Windsnap RP? Mermaid RP? Those don't sound very interesting.
You DO NOT have to have read the Emily Windsnap books to participate in this RP. It is only based off of the books. We will be using the same I-turn-into-a-mermaid-when-I-go-in-water concept. That's pretty much all that is the same.
You can be one of the following: A kid ages 10-18 who turns into a mermaid/merman when they touch the water, a regular mermaid/merman, or a sea creature.
If you are one of the kids that turns into a mermaid/merman when they touch the water:
You are the child of a mermaid/merman and a regular human. This results in your ability to change form depending on whether you're on land or not. You're dangerous.
At least in the eyes of the merpeople, you are.
They have been raised knowing that humans are their number one enemy. Hybrids like yourself, well, they think you are even more of a threat. They've been taught to destroy all hybrids on sight. You look exactly like a normal merperson in the water, though, so you're safe. For now.
If you are a regular mermaid/merman:
From a young age, you've been taught that hybrids are even more dangerous that humans. And humans- they're the cause of almost all the merpeople's problems. But, you've heard rumors of hybrids returning to the water, returning home. How could this be true?
If you were, by chance, to catch one, it would be of the highest honor to kill it. You would be rewarded greatly.
If you are a sea creature:
You live side by side with the merpeople. They may be violent at times, but you respect each other- right now. With the rumors of "dangerous" hybrids coming back to the sea, tensions are brewing, and innocent merpeople are being captured and killed. Everyone speaks the same language underwater, so you can understand the merpeople and the hybrids. What they're saying at the moment, though, are things you're not sure you want to hear.
The setting:
The merchildren's school is in a place called Seashell Cove. It's off the coast of California.
We do not have a name for the school yet. If you have ideas, please share.
So, the plot:
The hybrids are being sent to an underwater school by their human parent, because they need to learn how to control themself as a merperson as well as a human. Little did they know, hybrids are not safe in the merpeople's realm.
The merchildren go to the same school as the hybrids. As I've said before, they've been taught that hybrids are dangerous. (This is a misconception, but they don't know that) If they caught one, it would bring great honor to them and their family.
The sea creatures don't really go to school. They are friends with the merchildren, though, because many young sea creatures live in Seashell Cove and hang out around the school.
You may have up to 2 charries. Lavender and I (we're doing it together) will start once 3-5 people join, but there's no limit to how many people can join.

Personality: Shy, curious, studies everything. Focused, a daydreamer, A loner, a bookworm.

Appearance: fluffy short cut light brown hair, pale stormy grey eyes. Smiley, a curvy build. Her tail is murky blue green, with bright blue speckles.
Personality: Silent, shy, very curious. Focused, a daydream. Not down to earth in the slightest, has a lot of good ideas and is pretty clever. A Book worm.
Backstory: She lived a pretty average life that was kept away from any mermaids stuff. However, Mellie always wanted to go to the sea, so her parents decided to tell the truth and send her to mermaid school.

Backstory: used to live in Crystal Cove, but just moved with her parents. Now she lives near Seashell Shore, very close to the school.

APPEARANCE: Longish, somewhat ashy black hair that is usually pulled back, bronze skin, olive green eyes, high cheekbones, cold smile, muscular. His tail is a dark, bluish-green and has pointy fins.
PERSONALITY: Cold, unforgiving, not easy to persuade.
WEAPON (optional): A scimitar made of whale bone.
BACKSTORY: His older brother, Taron, was killed in an oil spill (It poisoned him). He really just doesn't like humans.

BACKSTORY: She was born and raised as a normal child. Her mother was a human, her father was a merman.

APPEARANCE: A regular bottlenose dolphin.

BACKSTORY: She was separated from her family and now lives by herself in Seashell Cove.

PERSONALITY: Very smart, bookish, loves puns and wit. Hostile towards ignorant people, but makes friends easily.
WEAPON (optional): Trident, powers of the element of water (which includes ice)
BACKSTORY: A hybrid with magic (PLEASE?) spawned from Celtic Lore, lives on the shore of Ireland.
OTHER: Has a black cat on land.

Name: Rochelle Fishwater
Gender: F
Age: 14
Type: Merperson
Appearance: Straight, bottom-of-shoulderblade length brown hair and a dark blue tail. She wears a wrap made of seal skin and has dark blue eyes.
Personality: Spunky and sassy. Rochelle's sharpest and most protuberant point is wit, and she uses it in plenty of situations. She has a tendancy to get into trouble and often speaks before thinking. She's fiercely loyal and devoted to the ones she trusts, and is quick to defend herself and others.
Weapon: None, unless you count a sharktooth necklace she wears.
Backstory: Here's where things get complicated. Rochelle was an orphan from birth-- dead mother, abandoned by her father-- and was taken in by a pair of humans. They lived in a lighthouse by a coast that nobody uses, and were not afraid of her being discovered by other humans. There were many tide pools on the beach where they lived, and they dug channels so she didn't have to stay in the shallows for them to communicate. She's now more involved with the mermaid community, and visits Seashell Cove often. However, her dissapearances to the shore have been interpreted as the possibility that she's a hybrid, and Rochelle is now wanted. She stays undercover and on the shore most of the time.
