I don't know

Chatterbox: Inkwell

I don't know

I don't know what to call this RP. Emily Windsnap RP? Mermaid RP? Those don't sound very interesting.

You DO NOT have to have read the Emily Windsnap books to participate in this RP. It is only based off of the books. We will be using the same I-turn-into-a-mermaid-when-I-go-in-water concept. That's pretty much all that is the same.

You can be one of the following: A kid ages 10-18 who turns into a mermaid/merman when they touch the water, a regular mermaid/merman, or a sea creature.

If you are one of the kids that turns into a mermaid/merman when they touch the water:

You are the child of a mermaid/merman and a regular human. This results in your ability to change form depending on whether you're on land or not. You're dangerous.

At least in the eyes of the merpeople, you are.

They have been raised knowing that humans are their number one enemy. Hybrids like yourself, well, they think you are even more of a threat. They've been taught to destroy all hybrids on sight. You look exactly like a normal merperson in the water, though, so you're safe. For now.

If you are a regular mermaid/merman:

From a young age, you've been taught that hybrids are even more dangerous that humans. And humans- they're the cause of almost all the merpeople's problems. But, you've heard rumors of hybrids returning to the water, returning home. How could this be true?

If you were, by chance, to catch one, it would be of the highest honor to kill it. You would be rewarded greatly.

If you are a sea creature:

You live side by side with the merpeople. They may be violent at times, but you respect each other- right now. With the rumors of "dangerous" hybrids coming back to the sea, tensions are brewing, and innocent merpeople are being captured and killed. Everyone speaks the same language underwater, so you can understand the merpeople and the hybrids. What they're saying at the moment, though, are things you're not sure you want to hear.

The setting:

The merchildren's school is in a place called Seashell Cove. It's off the coast of California.

We do not have a name for the school yet. If you have ideas, please share.

So, the plot:

The hybrids are being sent to an underwater school by their human parent, because they need to learn how to control themself as a merperson as well as a human. Little did they know, hybrids are not safe in the merpeople's realm.

The merchildren go to the same school as the hybrids. As I've said before, they've been taught that hybrids are dangerous. (This is a misconception, but they don't know that) If they caught one, it would bring great honor to them and their family.

The sea creatures don't really go to school. They are friends with the merchildren, though, because many young sea creatures live in Seashell Cove and hang out around the school.

You may have up to 2 charries. Lavender and I (we're doing it together) will start once 3-5 people join, but there's no limit to how many people can join.

I'm sorry that this is so long. If you have any questions, please ask.

Here's the character sheet. We will post our charries underneath because the is already too long.

Mellie~

I lay in bed, staring at my bedroom walls. Across them where painted green hills and blue skys, colorful and cheerful. No water in sight on those pretty green and blue walls.

I slowly sit up, stretching my legs. Legs. Some people have a tail. Some people sometimes have a tail. Like me. It seemed like forever when my mother had told me what dad was, and what I was...

"Mellie, there is a reason why I kept you away from water for, well, your whole life."

I said nothing, not wanting to miss anything.

"This might be a blow to you honey, but... Dad's not really a human... Well, he is but..." She sighed, looking down. "Mellie, you are part mermaid."

I didn't believe it at first. But then mother brought me outside, to the beach. And then... It happened. My legs, they became murky blue, camoflaging with the water. My legs stuck together, and I couldn't move them. Then it had scales. And then it had a fin. And then... And then...

I shook my head, not wanting it to be true. I always loved the water, and i never knew why... Now I know. Hunched over, I stumble down the stairs.

"Hey Honey!" my mother called, her voice soft. I looked over to the dining table, where she sat. I stayed silent.

"I made you breakfast," her voice wavered, as if she wanted to say more, but she remained silent. I sit down across her, slowly chewing the eggs she made.

"Honey, I hope you know tha-"

"Mom, I would rather not talk about it," I mumble, my eyes pleading. She shut her mouth and continued eating, her eyes betraying hurt.

After I finished eating, my mother told me i should go outside.

"Go get some fresh air!" she told me with a cheerful voice. I knew she wanted me to go into the water, to get... Practice.

Opening the door, I smelled the salty air. She never let me into the water, but we still lived by the beach anyways. Probably to remember father.

I shyly step onto the sand, Someone runs into their house, water streaming from the hair. Nervous, I slowly go by the beach--It's that a dolphin? I run toward the water, curious... It is.

It stares at me, with such a funny little look. I stare back at it, silent.

Rochelle~

There's a very dangerous ailment called boredom.

The symptoms? Disconnection and/or loneliness, lack of activities, a lot of sitting around, no action, and a pretty dead mind.

I am very sick with boredom.

A million years ago, I was in the deep ocean, swimming around. I had friends, I went to school, I learned mermaid stuff. It was a dream come true to find out I wasn't the only one.

But then I saw my face on a sign.

A sign reading Wanted.

I'm not a hybrid. I'd die if I came out of the water. That's why I live in tidepools, not the lighthouse. But for some reason, the other merpeople think I am. And hybrids are dangerous. Apparently. I don't know why.

I've got into a nocternal version of sleeping. There are too many merpeople in the ocean during the day; if I swim around then, I'm bound to get caught.

But at night?

Night is the good time.

Night is now.

I flip my tail and follow the little channels of water down to the ocean. Once in the deep water, I have more freedom, it slipping around me, welcoming me like an old friend. I flip upside down, watching the surface, seeing the moonlight dance on the waves.

There is nothing more beautiful.

With a burst of speed, I dive down, down, down deeper into the water, where it's pitch-black, but I'm not afraid. I have a burst of adrenaline as I swim further and further, away from the shore.

In the middle of the ocean, I break the surface. My wet brown hair sticks to my face, but I don't care. The stars twinkle above me, the wind flutters across my dripping face, and everything loves me.

I give a little whoop into the middle of nowhere, which is drowned by the never-ending vastness. But that isn't frightening-- it's a challenge, a challenge by the ocean, and I am going to win.

I am going to win it all.

Marius~

He opened his eyes to see a squid swimming through his room. "Get out," he commanded, and it darted back out through the unclosed window. Sighing, he stretched, and got out of bed. School started that day. He was so excited. (author's note-that was sarcasm)

Marius had heard about hybrids. There might be some at the school. They were incredibly dangerous, he knew, and wouldn't hesitate to report one if he found it. He had a plan- act all nice, get to know them, earn their trust...and then kill them. It was very simple, in fact. He was sure he'd know which ones were hybrids pretty quickly. Just look for the ones that seem, well, uncomfortable. If the rumors were true, Marius knew that he would have to catch one. At least one. To avenge his brother.

Once he was ready for the day, he began to swim towards Seashell Cove. The Cove of Way Too Many Sea Creatures seemed like a more appropriate name- the place was packed with them. Everything, from tiny minnows to manta rays to dolphins, and even the occasional whale. He liked them all, though. The baby dolphins and sharks were so cute, and they all were usually pretty good-natured. They made the sea more colorful, that's for sure.

"Hey, Mari!" He heard a familiar voice say. "I haven't seen you in forever, man!"

Ugh. He turned his head. A green eel swam in circles around an anemone. "Rafiel."

"Where're ya going, bro?" He stopped swimming. If eels could smirk, he'd be smirking. Marius rolled his eyes. "School."

"Aw man, that sucks. Sorry dude."

"Yeah, well," Marius looked past Rafiel, pretending that there was something behind him. "I've got to go. See you later, I guess."

He swam away before the eel could talk to him anymore. Eels- they just couldn't shut up. He was glad none of them could go to his school.

The doors of the academy were wide open, so he glided right through them. A very pudgy mermaid hovered over a rotting wood table, probably salvaged from a sunken ship. "Hello, Marius. It's nice to see you again." she said.

This was the headmaster of the school, Miss Dioné. Marius thought she was very fair, and usually made good decisions. Usually.

"Hello." He replied. Miss Dioné smiled. "I suppose I should tell you where you're supposed to go. Third room on the left, down there. Have a nice day!"

"Will do," he muttered. He had a feeling that it wouldn't happen- first days always seem to go badly. But, it's good to be optimistic, right? Marius could find a hybrid. It was unlikely, but...

He'd have to keep a sharp eye. There had to be one somewhere.

Great! Here I will post. Also I forgot to say that Softlight is 111 years old, which equals 11 years old in human years.

Pearl~~

I look around the beach, ugh their are way too many people around! People playing vollyball, swimming, playing in the sea. I wish that I could just go swimming! But that would atrack some attention. I wish I could go talk to Softlight, but that's impossible to do.

Later that night~~~

"Pearl, I hear that their is a merpeople school in the bay, you know, the on that's fenced off. You can go thier and start your education of merpeople. I will say you are at boarding shool. You must be careful though, if you visted try not to be followed," my mother says.

"OK, thanks Mom. I will go tonight." I say.

"Good, here is a gift." Mom says.

She hands me a blowgun, and a puch full of darts.

"If you are followed, you can shoot the merperson who is following you, he or she will be put to sleep and will forget what happened. If you choose one with a blue tip, it will just make that person go to sleep." Mom says.

"Great. Thanks! Bye!" I say.

I leave the house and jump into the sea. Ugh I can never get over how hot and warm this water is than the water I'm used to. I feel my tail come up. I whisle for Softlight. She comes speeding up.

"Hiyahow'sitgoingistheiranythingIcandoforyou?" she asks in rapid fire.

"Well, I was wondering if I you can take me to Seashell Cove?" I inquire.

"You are aplying then that's great hop on let's go!" She shouts.

"Great!" I smile.

"Oh by the way hybrids are not welcomed any more they used to be (about 100 years ago) but not any more so you've got to be careful." she adds.

"Wonderful." I replie sarcastily.
