RR Contest!I

RR Contest!

I came up with this idea a while ago, but I didn't really think about making it into a thread.

Let me fill you in.

So this is a contest where you will pick a partner, and the two of you will do an RR together. It might seem complicated, but you're going to be doing the RR right here-- you each will have your own section for it. After there are the set amount of teams, I will make posts saying "(name) and (name)'s RR" in bold, and you will RR under that post.

To keep it short, I'm only going to have teams of two for the RRs.

RULES

1) Only six teams of two allowed.

2) I will judge; the winning team um...wins.

3) RRs can be as short or long as you wish, but there's a theme: write about Christmas from the POV of an animal of your choice. Each team has to write about a different animal; if someone has already picked an animal that you wanted, choose a different one.

Once there are six teams, I will post the deadline.

Yayy! A partner came to me! I'm typically really shy about asking people to be my partner, so I tend to wait and just let people come to me. I am honoured to have gotten a response so quickly. I'm really excited to do this!! Best of luck to everyone!

I know you hate fantasy, so could we do a realistic fiction, maybe? Like a hunt from the prey's perspective? Some kind of unusual perspective would be great.

Hallia says weep. That's her eleventh word, but it's very negative. Don't cry, Hallia... I'm sure Wingnut will return someday.

l was thinking of something Jack London-esque kind of story, whereins a abandoned pet comes home and watches his former family have Christmas together or something.

But l like your idea as well, it's a lot different then what l would usually do. l'm thinking. So. Pitching an idea out here: A animal of prey is pursued across a winter landscape for some very long amount of time by either some other animal or hunters (perhaps the POV character is a wolf or a fox, those types of hunts would last a pretty long time) the end result being that they either escape the hunter or they don't. l feel like we need some human element here because of the whole Christmas thing, hence the human hunters. Or it being written from a purely animal POV, with no humans in the scene and just kind of mention Christmas-like settings would be interesting as well.

One last note: If left to my own devices with an animal character, l'll tend to write a rather cold and detaced view, not how the character feels, or their thoughts on things, but just their choices and actions. l'm not sure if this is what you are thinking about for this, or if you want the character to have more of a human voice.
