RR Contest!I

RR Contest!

I came up with this idea a while ago, but I didn't really think about making it into a thread.

Let me fill you in.

So this is a contest where you will pick a partner, and the two of you will do an RR together. It might seem complicated, but you're going to be doing the RR right here-- you each will have your own section for it. After there are the set amount of teams, I will make posts saying "(name) and (name)'s RR" in bold, and you will RR under that post.

To keep it short, I'm only going to have teams of two for the RRs.

RULES

1) Only six teams of two allowed.

2) I will judge; the winning team um...wins.

3) RRs can be as short or long as you wish, but there's a theme: write about Christmas from the POV of an animal of your choice. Each team has to write about a different animal; if someone has already picked an animal that you wanted, choose a different one.

Once there are six teams, I will post the deadline.

I'll post first, if you don't mind. Try to follow this style.

The dark sky was only visible in snatches through the pine trees' branches. The dog travelled through the woods, paws weary of the winter cold. As dusk gathered, a light snow began to fall, sprinkling the already snowy ground, and covering the trees in whiteness. The dog, a thick-furred, wolfish dog, was unbothered at first, but its paws hurt from walking.

The dog had been walking for a long time.

In his younger days he could have been some prize of his keeper, some trophy of his kind. His fur was a reddish-brown, sleek and thick, like the wolves of the forest, most likely where one of his parents had hailed from. But no longer.

Bones are painfully visible from under his ragged coat, his gold eyes are dull with age or hunger, it was hard to tell and he walks with a silght limp in one leg. He was not an old dog, but the world has other ways of wearing on him then just time.

The dog pauses as the trees around him start to thin and the snow gets deeper.  He has been going for a long while. It appears that he will not stop.

((l'm not really sure where we're going here--hence the length of the above. Is the thing this dog getting hunted by human or animal? l'd like for it to be some unknown dark fear or whatever and stray out of third person objective to tell about the dog's fear of this thing, but it depends on your thoughts of it.))

Sorry I took so long to post.

The dog is weary. It wants to rest, but the snowy forest is unhospitable. There is no place to lay down for the night. Hunger claws at its belly, but it does not stop to hunt.

The dog hears the lost echoes of a bell in the woods. Perhaps it is its imagination, but the sound reminds the dog of something.

Its tail hangs low between its legs as it enters a large clearing. There are no more trees, only empty white snow. Empty snow and a house. There is a house... (got to go I'll finish after)

Are you there?  We should probably finalize our plot idea and get started.

Sure thing! So we have a bird, in a snowstorm... maybe it's a fledgling, who's still learning how to fly? And they have to wait out the snowstorm because they were seperated from their parents?  was thinking a blue jay for the kind of bird, but it doesn't have to be. What do you think about that idea? Any more details or ideas you have?

What if we did a remake of our charries from The Three Kingdoms RP?

Oooo I like that! This could take place years later, maybe?

When they are 15 and 16 and self-trained fighters and kingdom protectors? That sounds great! We could do it in third person

Yeah! There could be some kind of "Christmas" celebration happening when the kingdoms get together again, and they are assigned to make sure everything is safe. They may take part in the festivities, but they are also tasked in watching out for danger. Except, for the sake of keeping things consistent, we need to figure out what to call Christmas that would fit in with the RP ad not conflict with any other religion. Maybe something like the Celebration of Light. I don't know, feel free to give ideas for that.

Also, I must warn you that I'm not the greatest at writing in third person, but I'm completely willng to give it a try!

Finally, since the RP never finished, what is the status of Keen and Fermata's friendship/ crush/ whatever? We sort of hinted at liking each other, but it never developed. Maybe now they are either in a relationship? Or they are close friends and are, as the saying goes, "partners in crime"? Whatever works best for the purposes of the story. :)

How long does it take a guy like Keen to figure out that he likes Fermata? Would 2 years be enough? :P Everything sounds great!

I think that by the time the RP finished, they would have both figured it out and there likely would have been a kiss or two at some point. So, I guess they will be a couple? I'm not sure about the rest of the charrie's but I guess we could just follow the story of Keen and Fermata, since they are our characters and we know them best.

If you want, I'm fine with you using Aleia.
And, @CL, I don't have any ideas right now, but I'll start brainstorming.  Do you have any?
