Theater RPG!

~

Peter Caminski needs a place to hold a very special talent show, so when his uncle lets him use the old, broken down Mableton Theater, he gets started fixing it up right away. Full of determination, Peter advertises his talent show all over town. He's trying to handpick a very special group of people for a special reason, and the theater gives him just the place to get started. However, Peter quickly realizes that someone is working against him. Snapped cables, crashing lights and sound equipment going haywire just when he needs it most isn't a coincidence. Someone doesn't want him to host a talent show at the Mableton Theater. So, the question is, are you going to audition? You'll probably get into quite a mess, and if you go to Mabelton Public High School, you'll probably get teased for hanging out with Peter Caminski, and of course, I can't promise that getting a bunch of theater-inspired teens and tweens together isn't going to include a lot of fighting and friendship troubles. But Peter needs you—now more than ever.

~

This will work like a regular RPG for the most part. Every day I will post a "weather report." which will basically help us keep everyone on the same page with the plot (for instance, a "weather report" could outline sunny skies for our gang, or dark clouds when something ominous is looming. It will make more sense later, but it shouldn't change the flow of the story.

~

Now for the charrie sheet! I will be making another character later in the story.

Name:

Age (12-19 please):

Appearence:

Personality:

Something they are hiding:

Talents (anything from picking locks to to singing to lightning-fast sketching):

Other:

~

Name: Peter Caminski

Age: 14 1/2

Appearance: Typically disheveled light brown hair, dark green eyes, pale skin, a couple freckles here and there. About average hight.

Personality: Excited, enthusiastic, absolutely determined, socially awkward, typically keeps to himself, always overflowing with ideas. He makes a great leader when he can pull himself together.

Something they are hiding: Peter was adopted.

Talents: I know this doesn't make much sense, but Peter's talent is...being Peter. He's an actor and leader who's full of ideas. He knows he can pull this thing together.

Other: It would be cool if he finally found a good friend with one of your characters since he really doesn't have any.

Weather Report #1

Today's weather is a snowstorm of unique and a dash of determination. Low clouds are on the horizen however moving closer every time Peter puts up an advertisement poster...

Anelia's side of the story:

"I lived in Poland, with my mother and father..... and Piotr. Piotr and I were very close, we always did everything together. Then, when he turned six, he and my father left for America, to find better work. That was the last I heard from either of them, until last week. I was only four and a half when they left, so I thought they would be coming back that night. That night-that terrible, terrible night, the inevitable happened- they did not come back. My mother tried to explain it to me. "Slodka Anelia" she would say. "Sweet Anelia, they're not coming back."

I was so young, I didn't understand what she meant, so I would sit by the door and cry for hours on end. It finally made sense to me when I was six, so  I quickly saved enough money to get a boat ticket to America. I ran away one night, leaving my mother, fast asleep, in her bed.

The voyage here was long, I was alone, and I was seven, so that made it that much worse. Finally, we arrived in NYC, and I lived on the street for a while. One day, I saw a sign advertising a home and food for a child, between 8 and 12 years old, to take care of the family's newborn daughter, Mary, in Mableton, New York. I jumped at the chance, but there was one minor problem. I didn't speak English, and they didn't let me go to school unitil this year. Luckily, I was a bit of a child prodigy, so I had no trouble keeping up with my studies. Then, I saw the sign for the auditons, and now I am here. End of story." I said.

I stare stunned, I can't believe Peter never told Toad or me about this, I remember when he came to our neighborhood, we were all really young. We didn't know that his mom had a kid, we just kinda didn't care. but now he told us we felt rejected. And Anelia, his little sister! He never told us anything. And how Anelia was like "I am his little sister!" I wanted to react: " Okay, but he never told me you didn't have to snap at me like that!"

Top! I left some holes in my backstory. I probably will not have time to fill them in today, but let's hope for Thursday after classes! I'm reading A Coal Miner's Bride, the diary of...guess who? Anetka Kaminska. Wow, we've been pretty accurate!! And "Caminski" was just a name that popped into my head as I was writing. Who knew it was the male form of a REAL Polish surname?

Forgot to mention WHY Peter was at the circus. His dad was taking him b/c Peter seemed depressed.

Peter~

"So that's my story, or at least, the seriously abridged version. I'm not making this up, guys. I was adopted by a trapeze artist who quit her job to raise me even though she was single and 22 and jobless. A whole lot of papers and meetings and even arguments that Mom handled easily, it was official. Leah Grayson was my mother. Except, nothing can ever be that simple. When Mom moved us to Mableton to pursue a teaching job, she fell in love with the owner of an ice cream shop called Chills and worked hard to win his heart. Meanwhile, I made the only friendship I ever had in my life besides my close relationship with Anelia. Rowan Dover and I were both struggling with family issues." here I pause to watch Rowan's expression. It changes from shock to disbelief to recognition.

"While my new family was slowly coming together, hers was falling apart. She was a fan of my mom, and we met and quickly became inseperable. Well, almost inseperable. We lost contact for many years, but I'm not going to get into all that," for Rowan' sake, I silently add, "so after about a year, Mom and Tom Marks, the ice cream shop owner, got married. Although Mom became Leah Marks, I chose to keep my own surname. It reminded me that my sister was out there somewhere. So...that's how I came to Mableton. And, would you believe it, found Anelia! It's a little weird after all these years—"

"Piotr," Anelia mouths warningly.

"Okay, I'm glad we're together again," I say honestly.

"Now for the talent show!" I exclaim. Pausing for breath, I pull several scribbled notebook pages out of my pocket. Suddenly, a cold, unfamiliar voice echoes around the almost-empty theater.

"Finally," it drawls, "I was afraid you'd never get to that."

~

GUYS! STICK WITH THE CLIFFHANGER PLZ. This will be GREAT!

Here's the other character I promised.

Name: Angel Narang (yes, I did that on purpose. Hope it's okay???), otherwise known as Angelica Trent.

Age (12-19 please): 18

Appearence: Curly brownish red hair that almost reaches her shoulders, brown eyes the color of dull and worn pennies, pale skin dotted with occasional freckles.

Personality: Cold, sarcastic, condescending, enjoys seeing others in pain, will be developed more.

Something they are hiding: Lots of things, including her real last name.

Talents (anything from picking locks to to singing to lightning-fast sketching): Moving as swiftly and silently as a cat, planning so precisely that her victims never see the net she is tangling them in until it is too late.

Other: Has a grudge against Peter for reasons to be revealed. Also, she has been "haunting" the theater. I will write her post later.

Anelia~

Piotr pulls the notebook with the audition results out of his pocket, then a cold voice that certainly doesn't belong to anyone in here drawls, "Finally. I thought you'd never get to that."

I jump about a foot in the air, then arm myself with a large cardboard box. A girl who looks about 18 steps out of the shadows. Someone screams. It sounds like Tesha! I look at that strange girl, really closely, and meet her eyes. I turn away. Those eyes were cold, bottomless holes that I almost fell into. I tear a piece off the cardboard box, then voice what all of us were thinking:  "Who are you, and why are you here?"

"Why do you care?" she asks in her cold, haughty drawl.

"Because my brother owns this theater, and...." I gasp.  "Was that you who made that loud crash behind the stage?"

"Whatever" she says. "Now, little girl, tell your brother, or whoever he is, to announce the audition results."

I turn away, muttering Polish curses  under my breath. The nerve of that girl! But, I do have one more thing to figure out. Why did Tesha scream?

I look for Tesha, and see her running out the door. "Tesha!" I cry. "Wait!"

But she is gone, into the blizzard. There is only one thing to do.

I run outside into the snow.

Dear Theater RP,

You wonderful, weird, fantastic idea I had when I was s'possed to be working on my homework, thanks for bringing so many people together :)

I think I can tell when a RP is dead. So, goodbye and thanks for all the ice cream.

For any of you still reading this, Peter's mom tried to raise him by herself for a while before moving to Mableton and falling in love. Peter met Rowan soon after. They were both struggling with family issues, and both the younglings became fast friends. Leah got married shortly after Peter and Rowan became close. Peter decided to keep his last name for himself instead of adopting his parents' new name because it gave him hope that his family was still out there. After several arguments, Rowan and Peter severed ties and didn't see each other much from then on.

Also, I made a picture of Anelia which I will be posting on the Art Posting Thread located in Pudding's Place relatively soon.

Goodbye friend!
