Guess who's jumping

Guess who's jumping on the bandwagon?

It's Cloud. Cloud is.

The bandwagon of Fantasy Picturings! Though maybe not a bandwagon, more like a group activity... (I'm going onto a tangent, sorry.) ANYways!

All you need to do is ask for one and I'll write a fantasy description/short story for you! I don't mean to brag, but I kinda started the fad the last time this type of thread came around, and I definitely want to write more now! Especially since there's so many new members on CB, it'll give me some interesting new prompts. If you want to read some of my old ones, just search 'clouded leopard fantasy picturings' or something.

So go ahead! What are you waiting for? Step into Clouded's Corner of Fantasy...

~Mystery~

Jane collapsed in the seat of the train, heaving out a deep breath as she closed her eyes. It couldn’t for more than a second, though, as suddenly the train screeched to a halt, throwing Jane forwards, and passengers crowded by her to get on and off. Uncomfortably she shifted to the side as a man clutching a briefcase with white knuckles glared at her as he shoved his way through the crowd. Sighing, Jane rubbed her eyes as she reflected over the terrible day she’d had. First it had rained right when she was walking to work, then her boss had been short-tempered and snappish with her, and then, on top of all of that, she’d forgotten to save a file and had lost it. There was no doubt about it, Jane was having one of the worst days in her life.

Suddenly she felt a presence move up against her, and with the last straw she whipped around to the person who had sat down next to her, preparing to tear them out when she saw that it was a petite young girl, dressed in shades of blue and black. Her eyes were a clear and milky sky-blue, and with precise movements she removed a round package from her bag. Jane watched with wide eyes as the girl took a large, sugar-frosted cookie out of the bag. Jane’s mouth began to water at the sight, and quickly she wiped it and turned away, facing forwards as her cheeks colored. As her eyes wandered back, though, she was surprised to see the girl holding the cookie out to her, a faint smile on her lips. Hesitantly Jane took it and nodded gratefully, glancing down at the cookie as it felt warm and soft in her hands, baked to perfection. The girl beside her was nodding, so Jane lifted the cookie and took a bite, her mouth immediately filling with all kinds of cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg flavors. It was all she could do not to moan out loud, and she quickly devoured the rest of the treat.

Gratitude swelling in her chest, Jane turned to thank the girl but found she had disappeared, and no matter how Jane glanced up and down the train, she couldn’t see any sign of navy blue clothing or long black hair. For a second she wondered if she had quite imagined the whole thing, but she knew the warmth in her stomach and heart wasn’t just a hallucination.

What a mystery…

~~

I didn't know whether you were a guy or a girl, Mystery, so I assumed you were a girl. Sorry if you're not.

LilyPad

“Come on, LilyPad, what are you doing over there?” a snide voice jeered as a pale-green skinned girl stalked towards another, who was seated peacefully on the bank of a rushing river. LilyPad glanced up at the girl as she approached, smiling benignly at her.

“Hi, Rosey,” she greeted the girl, whose rose-petal hair was tossed over one shoulder. Rose rolled her eyes in dramatic annoyance as a few other flowers approached behind her, casting worried glances at LilyPad as they stared up at Rose. “What’s up?”

“What’s up?” scoffed Rose, one hand on her hip. “I’ll tell you what’s up. What’s up is that we’re going to the Flower Parade now, and if you want to get your stem in on this you’d better hurry it along. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss the star of the show, now would you?” Rose grinned gleefully, her petals fanning out as she spun in a showy circle.

“Oh, I’d love to go with you, but--” LilyPad started to say as she took her hand off the rounded green leaf in front of her.

“But what?” Rose snapped as Petunia and Daisy giggled behind her. “You’re afraid that all the other Flowers will look down on a little Leaf like you? That you’re not pretty enough to hang with us? Well, news flash, Leaf--this is your one chance to ever get to be a Flower. Common Leaves aren’t normally allowed to our Parade, of course, but since you did such a nice favour for me the other day I supposed I’d give you a shot.” LilyPad looked helplessly up at Rose, who had already broken off her explanation once.

“...well, then, I guess you’ll have to go without me,” she said slowly as Rose’s pale pink eyes narrowed. Huffing, Rose wheeled around on her heel and stormed away as Petunia and Daisy cast one last confused look at LilyPad. The Leaf, who was huddled on the bank, gave them a regretful smile, then waited until they were out of sight to stand up again.

At the Flower Parade, Rose strutted up to the front of the Parade and took the position that she assumed would be hers. Only a minute passed, however, before an annoyed-looking MorningGlory stopped her, his cornflower-blue eyes frustrated. “Ey, Rose, what’re ya doin’ here?” he asked as Rose gaped at him. “Get outta line. Don’t ya have somewhere to be?”

“Yes, I do!” Rose spluttered, waving her arms theatrically. “Right here! I’m the star of the Parade, the main attraction! What do you mean, ‘get outta line’?” The MorningGlory rolled his eyes and grabbed Rose’s arm, dragging her to the sides and far from the Parade’s front. Rose started to protest again, but her words froze as she saw a beautiful Flower take her place, at the front, footsteps elegant and quiet. As the Flower looked over and caught Rose’s eyes, the thorny Flower realized with a flash that it was no plain Flower. The lily-petals that flowed from her hair were shaded in all rich hues of cream, pink, and white, and her dress was a verdant green with a blossom lily in the middle. On her head rested a very familiar green leaf that Rose had seen often, but now instead of the marking of a Leaf, it was a ever-so-slightly tilted hat, not at all covering her fluttering hair.

“LilyPad?” Rose gawked in disbelief.

Fun fact: Rose, Lily, Daisy, and Petunia are four of the names from the musical i'm in right now.

Abigail S.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Abigail jolted awake in her bed, eyes still sticky with sleep, and flailed around in her tangle of bedsheets, grasping frantically for her wailing alarm clock. Finally her hand connected with a button, and she slammed down on it, abruptly cutting of the beeps. Her mouth stretching in a wide yawn, Abigail sat up in bed, her sheets a mess around her legs. Growling under her breath, she shoved them off and jumped out of bed, noticing that only one sock remained on her foot. The other had been lost in the night as Abigail tossed and turned in dreams.

Stumbling over to her dresser, Abigail pulled open a drawer and looked inside for clothes to wear today. Thank goodness it wasn’t anything important or fancy, because all of Abigail’s dressy clothes were still in the wash. As she took out a plain blue shirt and jeans, she happened to look up at the mirror that rested above her dresser every day, its surface polished.

If Abigail hadn’t been a person who noticed everything, it might have completely passed over her mind, but as it was Abigail most certainly did notice. Squinting closer, she saw something that she had never seen before. Next to the ornate carving of a bird that rested on the wooden frame of the mirror, cheerily smiling at her and with bright blue feathers, was a tiny red rose. As far as her knowledge went, it had never been there before. But… why? How could a design on a piece of furniture change? Suspiciously Abigail’s eyes darted up towards the bird, and she could have sworn that just for a second she’d seen on of its wings tremble slightly.

With a sudden movement Abigail straightened up, announcing to the room in a loud voice, “Well, I’d better get downstairs! Don’t want to miss any breakfast!” With that she turned on her heel and almost goose-stepped out of her room, conspicuously slamming it shut, though a tiny creak came from it the next moment.

For a stretch of time nothing moved, and Abigail’s room sat in a lengthy silence, until she finally the tiny bluebird figure on the mirror fluttered it wings, calling out in a loud whisper to a music box sitting on the dresser. “Is she gone?” the bird asked, peering worriedly at the door.

“AHA!” Abigail shouted, leaping back into the room.

Before I post the next two requests, I have something so say. If you're commenting on this thread, please don't do what I call 'request and run'. What I mean is, don't ask me for something and then never comment on it. It feels like I'm spending hard time and effort and getting nothing back for it, you know?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the next two for General and Kaleidoscope!

General Waffleson

“Waffles?”

“Yes, sir…”

“Oh, come on, surely you can’t be serious? I thought he was supposed to be one of the greatest spies in all the land, and you’re telling me he operates with waffles?”

“Um… yes, sir,” the scout answered uneasily as his boss paced around the room, chuckling under his breath and running his hands through his thinned brown hair.
“And to think I was worried about him coming!” his boss guffawed with laughter, slamming his hands down on the desk to the scout’s start of surprise. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! Why, now that I think about it, there were plenty other spies at their headquarters. My messenger must have meant some other General, not this ‘waffle’ person.”

Personally, the scout wasn’t so sure. He had distinctly heard the word ‘Waffleson’ when the messenger had related it to him with panting breaths before taking off to another building, probably to receive and transmit another message. Nervously the scout cast his gaze around the office. It was sealed so well, surely the General would never be able to get in?...

As his eyes found their way to his boss again, he saw that something odd stuck stuck to his shoulder. “Ah—sir—” the scout said, cautiously reaching forwards. “There’s… something on your uniform.” His boss grunted and looked over his shoulder, but his head couldn’t turn far enough to see it.

“What is it, scout?” he harrumphed, trying to reach the spot with his hand. The scout swallowed, a lump forming in his throat.

“...it’s a waffle, sir.”

Just as he said that the tawny-yellow grid shape on the boss’s uniform split open, a thick smoke filling the room. The scout was immediately blinded, his eyes set watering, and he dropped to the ground with his hands pressed over them. His boss was angrily shouting and slamming into everything, fumbling around for the offender. Once the scout managed to look up, and as he did he saw a dark shape moving deftly through the room, and with horror the scout saw it reach over to the case, unlock the glass with slender fingers, and removed the prize information. In less than a second they were gone, speeding up the chimney and vanishing from the room.

As soon as the fog cleared, the scout winced as he heard the boss’s furious roar as he saw the empty glass case. Stuck onto it with a dripping brown liquid was a note, bearing simply the two letters: ‘K.O.’ written in curling form. Snarling with anger, the boss snatched the letter up but recoiled as the sticky matter spread on his fingers. “What the devil is this?!” he snapped, wiping it on a white-hemmed napkin. The scout leaned over the table and dipped a fingertip in the liquid, hesitantly bringing it to his tongue.

“Maple syrup?”

Kaleidoscope Gryphon

“Hurry up, Sable!” a voice laughed as a brightly-feathered creature bounded across the plains. Her creamy-white leopard pelt was spotted with blooming rosettes, and at the end of each of her feathers there was a tiny gray mark, making it look just like her fur. Tiny golden earrings jingled in her ears as they clinked together, and her front talons were golden-bronze as well, the eagle claws adept at pushing her across the tussocks of grass. Behind her another gryphon scrabbled forwards, her brown-and-black body much darker than the first's.

“Kaleidoscope!” Sable whined, her tongue hanging out of her beak as she stumbled after her friend, who half-ran, half-flew in front of her. Playfully Kaleidoscope flicked Sable’s beak with her tail, causing a splutter of outrage from her friend. “Hey, wait up!”

“Run faster!” Kaleidoscope called back, putting on another burst of speed. “We’re almost there!” Finally she extended her hind legs in a massive leap off the ground, her white wings spreading out to their full and glorious length. Huffing, Sable jumped into the air too, pouting as she swooped towards Kaleidoscope.

“I still don’t know why you bothered to come out here in the first place,” Sable grumped, her ear twitching as the two gryphons landed on an outcrop of rocks just before a cavern entrance. “There’s just some dumb, dirty cave.” Kaleidoscope wheeled around to her friend, eyes wide in exasperation.

“It’s not just some cave, Sable!” she sighed, lifting her tail to the other gryphon as she traveled deeper through a passageway. “It’s the Cave of Light! Surely you’ve heard of it before?” Sable shook her head ‘no’, but followed Kaleidoscope anyways. Finally the two gryphons reached a large open clearing, with stalactites draping from the ceiling like languid claws.

“…so?” Sable asked, a bored expression in her flint-yellow eyes. “Did you drag me all the way out of my nest just to see some dripping water?” Kaleidoscope didn’t reply, instead revolving in a slow circle with her neck craned up towards a circular opening in the roof.

Suddenly, like a wave crashing against a cliff, light flooded into the cavern and lit up, colors exploding inside the center. Sable squawked and shielded her eyes with one wing, only able to see Kaleidoscope’s silhouette inside the light show. Eventually a cloud passed over the circle in the roof and sliced off the rainbow light, and Sable managed to look up again. Her beak dropped open in surprise as she gaped at her friend.

Kaleidoscope slowly looked down at her feathers, now doused with every color imaginable across them. Each of her wingtips were sprayed with the hues of the rainbow, seemingly dripping in iridescent light.

Every time she moved, kaleidoscope colors danced around the cave like tiny lights.
