MUTANTS RP!I

Chatterbox: Inkwell

MUTANTS RP!I

MUTANTS RP!

Inspired from X-Men, but no prior knowledge needed.

Students attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a haven for children with strange mutations. These mutations go from almost unnoticeable to abnormally powerful, but he does not segregate. It is a tight-nit community where everyone knows each other and their abilites, and, mostly, they get along well.

You can be a previous student at this school, or a newcomer. If there are enough newcomers, it turns out that there have been a group of students tracked around the globe. One of the professors was sent to rally them up and bring them to the school. This is the first time this has ever happened.

MUTANT CLASSIFICATION LEVELS

(comicvine's take on the Marvel classification)

1. Omega level. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE, IF ANY, OMEGA LEVEL STUDENT. There are only thirteen known Omegas in the entire Marvel universe, including Jean Grey. In order to be an Omega, the mutant has to be incredibly, enormously, outrageously powerful, and be able to change their physical body into another state.

2. Alpha level. This takes up about 10% of known mutants and includes Magneto and Professor X. Alpha-level mutants have powerful mutations that feature no significant drawbacks; this does not, however, include natural drawbacks (like Professor X's inability to walk).

3. Beta level. Have powerful mutations with minor drawbacks. For example, they could include slightly abnormal physical features (think Nightcrawler or Beast), or the inability to turn their powers on and off at will (like Cyclops).

4. Gamma level. They have harmful mutations coupled with superhuman abilities that are above average, making it impossible for them to 'pass as human' or live ordinary lives. An example of a Gamma level mutant would be Rogue, before she was able to control her energy-sucking abilities.

5. Delta level. These mutants have not-very-powerful abilities who could easily pass as humans. Highly specific abilities or 'passive abilities' (such as Longshot's good luck) are placed under this category. They make up about 50% of mutants. However, there are not many at Xavier's school, because their abilities are not incredibly impactful and are easily hidden.

There are also Epsilon and Zeta level mutants, but we're not going to use them - they would never go to Xavier's school.

THE PROFESSORS

Professor W - Following Professor X's style, the Headmaster of the School for Gifted Youngsters is known as simply W by her students, though many are aware that her name is really Willa. She is an Alpha-level mutant who is able to control water in almost all forms. She is also the science professor.

Professor Belkin - The History professor is well-liked by most students because of his amiable nature. He's very smiley and does his best to make his lessons interesting. Professor Belkin is a Delta level mutant who has an unnatural gift around technology, making him the tech expert at the school.

Professor Lana - The most recent professor, Lana is in charge of math and English. She's a friendly, if shy teacher, of the Beta level, who is able to turn invisible; however, she sometimes does it accidentally and tends to flash in and out of sight while moving.

Professor Lorcan - In charge of most physical activities, including getting control of your power. Though slightly strict, Professor Lorcan is very good at connecting with his students; mostly because he's an Alpha level Empath! He's no one's favorite teacher, but not the least favorite, either.

THE PLOT

Mutants . . . are not very well-liked. In fact, many people - especially those in positions of power - fear for their well-being with mutants on the loose. Raids of the school are common, though some of the other students are excellent at cloaking it with their abilites, and the younger ones can certainly defend themselves if need be.

However, something new seems to have been developed; a suit, completely impervious to any mutation. If a mutant shape-shifts, they can only see their true form; if a mutant turns invisible, they can see them nonetheless. The suits are not yet complete, but during the next raid, the students may be in for an awful surprise.

THE RULES

1. We all want to make an Omega level mutant. Don't. Please. If all the mutants are Alpha, make a Delta. If they're all Beta, make a Gamma. Be original, be different, and use your common sense in terms of percentages.

2. I will probably ask you to edit your charrie. It's not personal; I just think they could be improved. You can easily avoid this, though, by making a charrie who's well flawed and relateable!

3. Two charries max.

4. Obviously, be creative with your powers. However, certain powers are more common than others. It's not surprising if there are multiple Telepaths or flying people in the school.

5. Have fun!

THE CHARRIE SHEET

Name:

Backstory:

Other:

MY CHARRIES

Name: She tells everyone her name is Fidi, but it's really Medusa.

Age: Very, very old, but looks (and feels) about 14.

Level: Beta

Power: With her gaze, she's able to a) put someone to sleep, b) knock someone out, or c) turn someone to stone. A and B have time limits, but C is irreversable as far as she knows. She tries to avoid it as much as possible.

Appearance: Dark copper skin, sort of olive toned. Her eyes are a dark, murky yellow, her eyelashes very long. Fidi is short for her age but skinny, with sharpish teeth but a warm smile. She has no hair; instead, her head is covered with many tiny green snakes. They're usually docile, but can reveal intense emotions. Professor W thinks they used to be poisonous, but are completely harmless now. Fidi wears skirts that cover her ankles, sneakers, and a dark hoodie that covers her head for as long as she can get away with it.

Personality: Fidi is withdrawn, but not afraid to answer if someone speaks to her. She smiles often and laughs very loudly. She can be distrustful and gets strong feelings of jealousy. She takes what people say to her to heart, and is therefore easily insulted; but it's also very easy to cheer her up. Once she forms strong ties with someone, she'd do anything for them.

Hobbies: Reading, studying, and running.

Backstory: Fidi's head was recovered in 2000 AD. Humans being humans, they quickly rebuilt her body and re-created her anew; but soon found that any memory before Posiedon was completely erased. Fidi cannot remember being a monster, no matter how many times someone tells her the story. Fidi is one of the few students that was brought to the Academy with govornmental consent, after they realized they really didn't want a superpowered child to take care of.

Other: N/A

Name: Mark Miller, AKA Comm

Age: 17

Level: Alpha

Power: He's telepathic; he can send messages into someone else's brain, and skim the very top of their thoughts. He can't transmit more than a few decimeters, which is something he's working on.

Appearance: Mark is Asian, with the customary dark hair and eyes. The former is cut in a way that his older brother had always called "girly," with bangs over his forehead and dangling to the middle of his neck. He usually wears sweatpants and loose t-shirts.

Personality: Mark is naturally quiet - clearly, as he can't hear himself speak. This doesn't stop him from communicating, though. He's a chatty kid and has long telepathic connections with other people - all they have to do is think what they want to say, and he'll hear it. He enjoys playing pranks on other people and is rather reckless. Mark is very outgoing and will talk to anyone he sees; he calls it his greatest asset. He is, however, very indecisive and hates decision-making.

Hobbies: Sneaking around the school, reading people's minds, chatting, pranking

Backstory: Mark was born completely deaf. He can read lips and knows sign language, so he was able to get by. But one day, to his shock, voices started to fill his mind - even when no one was talking. Mark soon realized he was a mutant and was able to run away from home and go to the Academy.

Other: There has been talk of Professor Belkin making something to help Mark hear. However, he's not sure if he wants it.

Name: Osana

Age: 15

Level: Omega, but they don't know it yet.

Power: Telekinesis when she's calm. When angry/frightened/in the mood to kill, she can summon ice.

Appearance: Short white hair (pure white, not ivory), BRIGHT greenish blue eyes, pointed/almost feline teeth, pointed ears with little fur tufts on the ends like those of a lynx. Wears black, white, green, or blue. No other colors. Generally wears very casual clothes. Has a sea green mark the color of her eyes shaped like a lynx on the back of her neck.

Personality: Very distant. Cold at first, but will become very protective of you if you befriend her. Very calculating and standoffish.  Has a COMPLETELY emotionless face 75% of the time. It's very unsettling. Her outside is a calm, glassy sea, and her inside is an abyss of rolling water and tainted ocean. She will fly into rages if provoked over and over and over again. She loves collecting weapons. Is, however, a loyal and steadfast companion if you can get past her shell. Unfortunately, she is going to become evil after learning that her mutant parents were killed by anti-mutant mobs.

Hobbies: Reading, writing. Loves swimming. Analyzes people.

Backstory: Was found on the doorstep of Xavier's school by a haggard-looking young boy who soon teleported away, leaving the baby. When one of the teachers saw her neck symbol, he seemed very shaken by it, muttering something about "The Lynx's Power and Blessing." Does not know if her parents are alive or dead. Is a bit rebellious; often sneaks out of Xavier's school to go to the mall/movies.

Other: Her powers are amplified by a mysterious "Lynx Energy" emanating from the cosmos. (yes, I totally stole the idea from Jean Grey's phoenix force. I'm sorry guys.)

Didn't St. say only one Omege? I think Killim got it. Maybe make an Alpha or Beta?

Sooo, two things.

1) Osana sounds incredibly like a Beta. She has an abnormal physical form and powerful powers - but they're not exactly over the top.

2) Unfortunately, Killim already claimed the Omega.

So, all things considered, do you think you could change Osana to a Beta (or, really, any other one you want, though Beta would make the most sense?)

Actually, as I do recall, and Omega is

"incredibly, enormously, outrageously powerful"

That's how St. Owl stated it.

So, I know there's only supposed to be one Omega, but I have to agree... Killim's charrie is way too powerful. If they want to become a villain, that's ok; villains have to be powerful, because they're usually up against whole teams of heroes.

However, Killim IS a hero. It's unfair to the villains to have someone who can literally just KILL people.

Killim, you REALLY CANNOT make powers that are along the lines of "inescapable death."

It's no fun if you're uber-powerful and can beat the villains in, like, ten seconds.

Osana, however, is a less OP Omega. She seems almost weaker, like a Beta, but simply doesn't know how powerful she is. She, at the moment, can barely lift a car with her telekinesis. When her Lynx energy is eventually activated, she will become VERY powerful, like an Omega, and a holographic-looking image of a lynx glows above her head.

Killim's character will make this RP less fun if she doesn't make it less OP.

I don't know what's been said, because not all the comments are showing up, but:

1. Omegas are designed to be OP. They are the embodiment of OP. If a character is not OP, they simply can't be an Omega.

2. Um . . . Omegas can't be beaten in a fight. Come on. When Jean Grey unlocked her inner Phoenix, did anyone even have a chance at beating her? The only reason they defeated her was because she kept fighting against it.

I see nothing wrong with Killim's character. Actually, I'm impressed. Dark matter was an excellent idea.

I completely, totally agree, but if this is going to be a problem, maybe just dim down Killim's charrie a bit, and have no Omegas? I don't want a fight

Okay, first of all, I know what you're saying, but please don't be rude about it.

Second of all, I was only following the guidelines of St. Owl's rules in the Omega being extremely powerful, so yeah.

And no offence, but I did kind of make my charrie first, so I don't think you should try to make an effort to kick my charrie out as an Omega.

If my charrie is really, truly offending people like this, then I will die her powers down if you want me to. But again, I was just following the guidelines.

Also, I think that you're overexaggerating by saying that my charrie would beat a villain in ten seconds. Avienne's powers do not go along the lines of "inescapable death," but I simply wanted to stress that she is very dangerous.

And when you said it was unfair to have heroes that can just "kill," people, um, the original X-men and Mutants could just "kill," people. Wolverine, all them. My charrie will not kill every charrie she sees. I think you could have possibly overlooked the part of when I said she has random power bursts at times, meaning she can't all the way harness her powers. She's only fourteen and controls dark matter.

I'm sorry if you took this as rude, but I just followed the guidelines, and I do believe that there are nicer way to say that my charrie is OP than the way that you and the other anonymous person might of.

But closing off, I am actually hurt by the way you said my charrie would make this RP less fun. What is Avienne going to do, kill off everyone at the school and all of the enemies? No. I can control my own character, so please don't act like I'm not responsible for who I roleplay as.

Thanks for understanding.

And also, thank you St. Owl! I've had that idea for a long time, and I'm glad I can use those powers in a Mutant, finally. ^^

Baguette says "with." With what? I do believe we will write most of the RPs with a computer.

Yes, this is to @St. Owl, who I think might be Brookeira.

I do not want Avienne to be a villain for the time being. And I respect your opinion, but next time, maybe if you could not say that my charrie would make the RP boring, please...? I'm sorry, I think it just sounded a bit mean, and I'm sorry if I hurt you with my charrie or what I said in any way.

I'm making my next character soon, but I gotta address this.

Also, on this little thing, I do agree that it won't make the RP fun if we make an outrageously powerful person. If you watched the latest x-men movie (not logan), with Jean Gray, she was shown to be having nightmares and making people scared of her. She was overpowered, so overpowered she couldn't control it. She couldn't even use her power because it might kill everyone. If every. Single. villain was killed in the five seconds of the fight what are the rest of the characters going to do? eat popcorn and watch?

I think we should just keep the omega and just have a weakness with her. Brookeira's character can become a Beta or Alpha.

1) Yeah, I was "@St. Owl"

2) Thanks, Danie! This was my point. Also, Killim, so sorry if I sounded mean! I totally didn't mean to.

Also, the reason I want Osana to be an Omega is that

A) She's the villain, fighting an entire TEAM of baddies. She NEEDS to be powerful.

B) I wanted the "Lynx Energy" that possesses her to be just like the Phoenix Force. Come on, DARK PHOENIX SAGA!

Also, Killim, your character wasn't visible when I posted mine, so I hadn't known yours was an omega. We posted at around the same time (roughly). No offense!!!
