MUTANTS RP!I

Chatterbox: Inkwell

MUTANTS RP!I

MUTANTS RP!

Inspired from X-Men, but no prior knowledge needed.

Students attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a haven for children with strange mutations. These mutations go from almost unnoticeable to abnormally powerful, but he does not segregate. It is a tight-nit community where everyone knows each other and their abilites, and, mostly, they get along well.

You can be a previous student at this school, or a newcomer. If there are enough newcomers, it turns out that there have been a group of students tracked around the globe. One of the professors was sent to rally them up and bring them to the school. This is the first time this has ever happened.

MUTANT CLASSIFICATION LEVELS

(comicvine's take on the Marvel classification)

1. Omega level. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE, IF ANY, OMEGA LEVEL STUDENT. There are only thirteen known Omegas in the entire Marvel universe, including Jean Grey. In order to be an Omega, the mutant has to be incredibly, enormously, outrageously powerful, and be able to change their physical body into another state.

2. Alpha level. This takes up about 10% of known mutants and includes Magneto and Professor X. Alpha-level mutants have powerful mutations that feature no significant drawbacks; this does not, however, include natural drawbacks (like Professor X's inability to walk).

3. Beta level. Have powerful mutations with minor drawbacks. For example, they could include slightly abnormal physical features (think Nightcrawler or Beast), or the inability to turn their powers on and off at will (like Cyclops).

4. Gamma level. They have harmful mutations coupled with superhuman abilities that are above average, making it impossible for them to 'pass as human' or live ordinary lives. An example of a Gamma level mutant would be Rogue, before she was able to control her energy-sucking abilities.

5. Delta level. These mutants have not-very-powerful abilities who could easily pass as humans. Highly specific abilities or 'passive abilities' (such as Longshot's good luck) are placed under this category. They make up about 50% of mutants. However, there are not many at Xavier's school, because their abilities are not incredibly impactful and are easily hidden.

There are also Epsilon and Zeta level mutants, but we're not going to use them - they would never go to Xavier's school.

THE PROFESSORS

Professor W - Following Professor X's style, the Headmaster of the School for Gifted Youngsters is known as simply W by her students, though many are aware that her name is really Willa. She is an Alpha-level mutant who is able to control water in almost all forms. She is also the science professor.

Professor Belkin - The History professor is well-liked by most students because of his amiable nature. He's very smiley and does his best to make his lessons interesting. Professor Belkin is a Delta level mutant who has an unnatural gift around technology, making him the tech expert at the school.

Professor Lana - The most recent professor, Lana is in charge of math and English. She's a friendly, if shy teacher, of the Beta level, who is able to turn invisible; however, she sometimes does it accidentally and tends to flash in and out of sight while moving.

Professor Lorcan - In charge of most physical activities, including getting control of your power. Though slightly strict, Professor Lorcan is very good at connecting with his students; mostly because he's an Alpha level Empath! He's no one's favorite teacher, but not the least favorite, either.

THE PLOT

Mutants . . . are not very well-liked. In fact, many people - especially those in positions of power - fear for their well-being with mutants on the loose. Raids of the school are common, though some of the other students are excellent at cloaking it with their abilites, and the younger ones can certainly defend themselves if need be.

However, something new seems to have been developed; a suit, completely impervious to any mutation. If a mutant shape-shifts, they can only see their true form; if a mutant turns invisible, they can see them nonetheless. The suits are not yet complete, but during the next raid, the students may be in for an awful surprise.

THE RULES

1. We all want to make an Omega level mutant. Don't. Please. If all the mutants are Alpha, make a Delta. If they're all Beta, make a Gamma. Be original, be different, and use your common sense in terms of percentages.

2. I will probably ask you to edit your charrie. It's not personal; I just think they could be improved. You can easily avoid this, though, by making a charrie who's well flawed and relateable!

3. Two charries max.

4. Obviously, be creative with your powers. However, certain powers are more common than others. It's not surprising if there are multiple Telepaths or flying people in the school.

5. Have fun!

THE CHARRIE SHEET

Name:

Age:

Level:

Power:

Appearance:
Personality:

Hobbies:

Backstory:

Other:

MY CHARRIES

Name: She tells everyone her name is Fidi, but it's really Medusa.

Age: Very, very old, but looks (and feels) about 14.

Level: Beta

Power: With her gaze, she's able to a) put someone to sleep, b) knock someone out, or c) turn someone to stone. A and B have time limits, but C is irreversable as far as she knows. She tries to avoid it as much as possible.

Appearance: Dark copper skin, sort of olive toned. Her eyes are a dark, murky yellow, her eyelashes very long. Fidi is short for her age but skinny, with sharpish teeth but a warm smile. She has no hair; instead, her head is covered with many tiny green snakes. They're usually docile, but can reveal intense emotions. Professor W thinks they used to be poisonous, but are completely harmless now. Fidi wears skirts that cover her ankles, sneakers, and a dark hoodie that covers her head for as long as she can get away with it.

Personality: Fidi is withdrawn, but not afraid to answer if someone speaks to her. She smiles often and laughs very loudly. She can be distrustful and gets strong feelings of jealousy. She takes what people say to her to heart, and is therefore easily insulted; but it's also very easy to cheer her up. Once she forms strong ties with someone, she'd do anything for them.

Hobbies: Reading, studying, and running.

Backstory: Fidi's head was recovered in 2000 AD. Humans being humans, they quickly rebuilt her body and re-created her anew; but soon found that any memory before Posiedon was completely erased. Fidi cannot remember being a monster, no matter how many times someone tells her the story. Fidi is one of the few students that was brought to the Academy with govornmental consent, after they realized they really didn't want a superpowered child to take care of.

Other: N/A

Name: Mark Miller, AKA Comm

Age: 17

Level: Alpha

Power: He's telepathic; he can send messages into someone else's brain, and skim the very top of their thoughts. He can't transmit more than a few decimeters, which is something he's working on.

Appearance: Mark is Asian, with the customary dark hair and eyes. The former is cut in a way that his older brother had always called "girly," with bangs over his forehead and dangling to the middle of his neck. He usually wears sweatpants and loose t-shirts.

Personality: Mark is naturally quiet - clearly, as he can't hear himself speak. This doesn't stop him from communicating, though. He's a chatty kid and has long telepathic connections with other people - all they have to do is think what they want to say, and he'll hear it. He enjoys playing pranks on other people and is rather reckless. Mark is very outgoing and will talk to anyone he sees; he calls it his greatest asset. He is, however, very indecisive and hates decision-making.

Hobbies: Sneaking around the school, reading people's minds, chatting, pranking

Backstory: Mark was born completely deaf. He can read lips and knows sign language, so he was able to get by. But one day, to his shock, voices started to fill his mind - even when no one was talking. Mark soon realized he was a mutant and was able to run away from home and go to the Academy.

Other: There has been talk of Professor Belkin making something to help Mark hear. However, he's not sure if he wants it.

Like I said, she's not going to kill the villains in five seconds. Although she may have bursts sometimes with her powers, I'm going to try to develop her to control her powers. Who knows, maybe another charrie could help her. So please don't think I will make this RP boring with my charrie.

And I don't know what St. Owl thinks, but if she says that my charrie needs to have a weakness, then I'll create one. I just want to follow the guidlines. This is her RP that she created, and I want to respect her rules. ^^

Name: Tia Morrow

Age: 13

Level: Alpha

Power: Manipulation of energy, like taking one thing's energy and giving it to another, and firing bursts of it at enemies, and she can take so much energy that the thing dies, and she does not have to be touching it, although, she has to see them.

Appearance: Short teal hair, green eyes, lightly tanned skin, average height, freckles across her upper cheeks and nose, usually wears a teal shirt and jeans/denim bermuda shorts, twin katanas strapped to her back (when not in classes, and in sheaths).

Personality: Friendly, and always energetic, because she draws energy from her surrondings when she gets tired (from trees and stuff, not people), she isn't particularly smart, but she learns new things fast and works hard, and but she always wants to be in charge, which gets very annoying.

Hobbies: Swimming, reading, running, pranking people with elaborate plans, giving something (like a rock) so much energy that it explodes.

Backstory: She raised normally with her twin, until one day when she was seven, some kid shoved Sierra, and Sierra fell and twisted her ankle, which made Tia really mad, so she grabbed the kid's hand and started dragging him torwards the recess monitor, but she never got there, because she accidentally sucked his energy in her rage, and he fell unconcious. The next dat, Professor W showed up at their house, and within a year, Tia and Sierra were At Professor X's, and they've been there for the past five years.

Other: She is a great runner, and also fights with twin katanas, and her fraternal twin is Sierra.

I've been working on this for ages, and I really want to get this posted, so I'll make Sierra's charrie sheet later.

Here is my FINAL RULING. If any of you have a problem with it, then tell me in a POLITE and RESPECTFUL matter and I will address it.

1. Killim keeps the Omega spot.

2. Killim, I will request that you make something that kind of limits Avienne's powers a bit. Not necessarily muting them; I mean more like what happened with Jean, how she was frightened of her capabilities. If Avienne restricts herself in some way, that would cut back on everyone's OP problems.

3. Brookiera, I highly recommend that you make Osana a Beta. However, I won't say no to your "Lynx Energy." If you can make it some sort of outside force that Osana learns to harness during the RP, I won't restrict you, but this also does not magically make Osana an Omega. I'd say this would boost her powers to maybe a bit higher than usual Alpha-level.

And on some of the things y'all have said:

1. Like Killim said. What are you guys expecting? Avienne's going to go and explode everyone she sees? Murder innocent scientists she doesn't even know? She's fourteen, people. She's not a cold-blooded killer. Maybe she's a pacifist! Maybe she doesn't take part in battles at all!

2. No, they're not going to "eat popcorn and watch." There's plenty to do. SPOILER ALERT: At the final battle against Magneto's Brotherhood, when Phoenix was, y'know, sorta fighting-ish, the others were NOT eating popcorn. They were rescuing children and fighting lackeys. Maybe the Omega has to take down the big guy, but there are plenty of other people to fight.

3. I basically instructed you guys to make the Omega OP. In fact, Brooke, if you had gotten the Omega spot first, I would have asked you to ramp up Osana's powers. Sure, Jean relies on Phoenix energy, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have Phoenix's power inside her; she just doesn't let it escape. Likewise, Osana would only have her powers unlocked by Lynx Energy, meaning that simply lifting cars with telekenisis would not be enough for me.

And here's some other personal things just about improving characters. Please don't explode on me about anything; if you object to it, explain why, but do it respectfully, please.

@Danie - Nicole does fit as a Beta, but I think she'd also work nicely as a Gamma (which I doubt we'll have many of). Whichever one you'd prefer to use is fine by me. Oh, and one more thing; a last name would be nice. xD

@Killim - I don't know a ton about dark matter, but how does it relate to time? I can see how teleportation might fit into her powers, because she can transform into dark matter and travel that way, but unless time has some sort of obvious connection, I'd suggest taking out the stopping of time. Mutants generally don't have two powers (unless they've been forcefully implanted like Wolverine, and that isn't really a mutation anyway). And, again, something to restrict her abilities more, possibly in her personality?

@Brookiera - Okay, seriously, don't explode on me, but you have a tendency to create characters that are all very similar - ice blue/green eyes, genius, telekenetic/ice manipulator, antisocial/standoffish. In other words, basically, it seems to me that every character of yours is an ice mage. This isn't a bad thing necessarily - it just means you have a specialty. However, it's good simply for you as a writer to expand your horizons and try some new things. I'm not asking you to completely remake Osana, but adding some new traits that you don't usually use would be a nice refresher. I also have to ask you to choose either telekenisis OR ice powers. I can't see how they're connected or related in any way, and as I said to Killim, double mutations are practically unheard of. Perhaps the other power can be activated only when she uses Lynx Energy?

@Tyberius Firestone: Firstly, would you mind expanding on Ashton's appearance a bit? Is he tall, short? Pale skinned, dark, Asian? Is his hair blond, brown, black, dyed? Is it curly, straight, wavy? What kind of wolf are his tail and ears from? In addition, Xavier's school is a boarding school, so Ashton wouldn't be living with his foster parents (though visits are to be expected).

Eh, y'know what, I don't really want to do this. If Killim's charrie gets to be an Omega, I think it's not going to be as fun in literally any fights. We don't just want to save civillians while she gets to kick butt as this mega-powerful-goddess-killer. That isn't very fun when writing battle scenes.

Anyway, my Osana character has been around for three years. Literally since 2014. I've written four fanfictions in her honor. I can't change her, I feel. I'm actually trying to move away from ice mage characters, but that's how I made her. I was eleven when i made her. Literally all of my characters had those powers.

And I think you may be forgetting... Jean Grey, at first, seemed like a normal telekinect. She lifted normal stuff.

That's how I wanted Osana to be. Everyone thinks she's a Beta (including herself), then she begins to snap and a cosmic Lynx Energy starts to control her, making her incredibly powerful.

The reason she had ice and telekinesis is that Jean Grey had fire and telekinesis.

Okay. This is really starting to hurt.

Why do you act as though I cannot be responsible for my own charrie? As if I'm going to make this RP terrible? I'm sorry if you really wanted to be an Omega, but I just made the charrie first. That's all. I think your charrie would be great in this RP, and I think she would fit any role perfectly, but just because she may not be able to be an Omega doesn't mean you have to be unfriendly towards my charrie.

And do you actually imagine Avienne to be the only person in battles? This "mega-powerful-goddess-killer," that you say she is isn't her at all. She's a 14 year old girl who's scared of herself. You think that she wants all the glory and wants to be the only person ever fighting anyone? No. Not at all. The purpose of all these mutants together is to have a team, so it's not a one man band.

I honestly don't see what's so wrong about my charrie. I followed St. Owl's guidelines and gave her the powers that I thought up.

I am just upset at how much you are singling my charrie out and trying to blame her for making this RP terrible before it even starts.

I'm sorry if I offended you with my charrie, but I really don't think that what you are saying is fair.

I'm not saying you have to change Osana entirely. Just a little, making her sliiightly different than your norm.

And . . . at first, Jean Grey WASN'T a normal telekinetic. Did you watch Apocalypse? She wasn't in control of her power. She had terrible nightmares and frightened all the students because of how her mutations reacted to the nightmares. Professor X knew she was an Omega from the very beginning; that's why he told her to "unlock her power." It was only herself making her "normal."

From what I've heard Killim say, she's not going to "kick butt." She's terrified of her own powers. Half of Apocalypse was Jean cowering in a corner while everyone else fought!

I don't think I've watched/read the Dark Phoenix Saga. I don't have all the details on Jean. However, I told you, you can keep your Lynx Energy! That's fine! It's even cool!  But there CANNOT be two Omegas. I'm sorry.

If you want to drop out, fine. But I want you to know that I was really looking forward to having Osana as a character. She can still become stronger than the average Alpha, and our Omega will be terrified of herself. I want you to stay, Brooke.

Okay, so I'm going to go in order in what you said to me.

1. Thank you! ^o^

2. Okay, so Jean was frightened of her capabilities...I was thinking the same might be for Avienne, as I put in the Other section that she almost killed somebody once because she couldn't control herself. I think that she would also try to almost restrict her power usage around fellow mutants due to the fact that she doesn't think that they trust her. She's a fourteen year old, so she's still young and bit insecure about what she can do.

3. Yes, like I said and you just said, I won't make this RP boring like some of you have mentioned, and I won't kill off every enemy and everyone in the school within a matter of seconds. So don't worry too too much about that.

4. Yeah, I might cut the time. There's really no way to fit that into dark matter and energy. I just tried to make her powerful in that sense. And I explained to Hermione also that she can make herself dark matter and transport herself that way from place to place. But I can see you got that. ;)

Anything else? I think I've covered everything that you mentioned.

Um, okay. I never said she had to be a Beta if you want her to be more powerful, I just said that I wanted to remain an Omega without being kicked out and becoming a villain. XD

Ack, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have started arguing, it's Owl's rp. Anyways, Nicole Raymond (random last name) can be a gamma if needed! I don't really care. Anywho, my character!

Name: Michael Caul

Age: 15

Level: Alpha?

Power: the ability to control air. Been watching way too much of Legend of Korra :P

Appearance: Gray hair that partially covers his eyes, which are a gray blue. Lanky. Wears t shirts and shorts. Sneakers with untied laces.

Personality: quiet, intelligent, but is a loner and can come off as unnecessarily rude. Not very kind, but incredibly resourceful. Won't go out of his way to get to know someone. Doesn't trust people easily and holds grudges.

Hobbies: reading, learning about the history of mutants. Playing video games.

Backstory: He was in a family where mutants where disliked, mainly due to his father's role in the government. When they found out Michael had powers they all grew apart from him. His mother sent him to this school, telling Michael's father that it was just some school for intelligent people.

other: Dunno.

Okay, here's Sierra

Name: Sierra Morrow

Age: 13

Level: Delta (I think?)

Power: She can sense the most likely future, like a demiguise from HP, and she makes her choices because of it.

Appearance: Long, long, strawberry blond hair in a ponytail, slightly tanned, green eyes, freckles across her upper cheeks and her nose, shortish, usually wears a sky blue off-the-shoulder shirt, with a white tank top underneath, and blue jeans, no matter the weather.

Personality: She is quiet, and shy, and generally let's her sister do the talking. She gets tired easily, but then Tia gives her some of her energy, and she's fine. She is extremely clever, top of the class, but she doesn't have many friends, and she gets ignored, whch annoys her.

Hobbies: Reading, finding small, quiet places where she can read, drawing (she's a great artist), writing.

Backstory: She was raised normally, like Tia, until a kid pushed her, and Tia sucked their energy accidentally. Sierra is only at the school because she refused to leave Tia's side, and they don't know she has powers yet, because she uses them unconciously, and she thinks she's just lucky.

Other: She is Tia's fraternal twin
