MUTANTS RP!I

Chatterbox: Inkwell

MUTANTS RP!I

MUTANTS RP!

Inspired from X-Men, but no prior knowledge needed.

Students attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a haven for children with strange mutations. These mutations go from almost unnoticeable to abnormally powerful, but he does not segregate. It is a tight-nit community where everyone knows each other and their abilites, and, mostly, they get along well.

You can be a previous student at this school, or a newcomer. If there are enough newcomers, it turns out that there have been a group of students tracked around the globe. One of the professors was sent to rally them up and bring them to the school. This is the first time this has ever happened.

MUTANT CLASSIFICATION LEVELS

(comicvine's take on the Marvel classification)

1. Omega level. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE, IF ANY, OMEGA LEVEL STUDENT. There are only thirteen known Omegas in the entire Marvel universe, including Jean Grey. In order to be an Omega, the mutant has to be incredibly, enormously, outrageously powerful, and be able to change their physical body into another state.

2. Alpha level. This takes up about 10% of known mutants and includes Magneto and Professor X. Alpha-level mutants have powerful mutations that feature no significant drawbacks; this does not, however, include natural drawbacks (like Professor X's inability to walk).

3. Beta level. Have powerful mutations with minor drawbacks. For example, they could include slightly abnormal physical features (think Nightcrawler or Beast), or the inability to turn their powers on and off at will (like Cyclops).

4. Gamma level. They have harmful mutations coupled with superhuman abilities that are above average, making it impossible for them to 'pass as human' or live ordinary lives. An example of a Gamma level mutant would be Rogue, before she was able to control her energy-sucking abilities.

5. Delta level. These mutants have not-very-powerful abilities who could easily pass as humans. Highly specific abilities or 'passive abilities' (such as Longshot's good luck) are placed under this category. They make up about 50% of mutants. However, there are not many at Xavier's school, because their abilities are not incredibly impactful and are easily hidden.

There are also Epsilon and Zeta level mutants, but we're not going to use them - they would never go to Xavier's school.

THE PROFESSORS

Professor W - Following Professor X's style, the Headmaster of the School for Gifted Youngsters is known as simply W by her students, though many are aware that her name is really Willa. She is an Alpha-level mutant who is able to control water in almost all forms. She is also the science professor.

Professor Belkin - The History professor is well-liked by most students because of his amiable nature. He's very smiley and does his best to make his lessons interesting. Professor Belkin is a Delta level mutant who has an unnatural gift around technology, making him the tech expert at the school.

Professor Lana - The most recent professor, Lana is in charge of math and English. She's a friendly, if shy teacher, of the Beta level, who is able to turn invisible; however, she sometimes does it accidentally and tends to flash in and out of sight while moving.

Professor Lorcan - In charge of most physical activities, including getting control of your power. Though slightly strict, Professor Lorcan is very good at connecting with his students; mostly because he's an Alpha level Empath! He's no one's favorite teacher, but not the least favorite, either.

THE PLOT

Mutants . . . are not very well-liked. In fact, many people - especially those in positions of power - fear for their well-being with mutants on the loose. Raids of the school are common, though some of the other students are excellent at cloaking it with their abilites, and the younger ones can certainly defend themselves if need be.

However, something new seems to have been developed; a suit, completely impervious to any mutation. If a mutant shape-shifts, they can only see their true form; if a mutant turns invisible, they can see them nonetheless. The suits are not yet complete, but during the next raid, the students may be in for an awful surprise.

THE RULES

1. We all want to make an Omega level mutant. Don't. Please. If all the mutants are Alpha, make a Delta. If they're all Beta, make a Gamma. Be original, be different, and use your common sense in terms of percentages.

2. I will probably ask you to edit your charrie. It's not personal; I just think they could be improved. You can easily avoid this, though, by making a charrie who's well flawed and relateable!

3. Two charries max.

4. Obviously, be creative with your powers. However, certain powers are more common than others. It's not surprising if there are multiple Telepaths or flying people in the school.

5. Have fun!

Backstory:

Other:

MY CHARRIES

Name: She tells everyone her name is Fidi, but it's really Medusa.

Age: Very, very old, but looks (and feels) about 14.

Level: Beta

Power: With her gaze, she's able to a) put someone to sleep, b) knock someone out, or c) turn someone to stone. A and B have time limits, but C is irreversable as far as she knows. She tries to avoid it as much as possible.

Appearance: Dark copper skin, sort of olive toned. Her eyes are a dark, murky yellow, her eyelashes very long. Fidi is short for her age but skinny, with sharpish teeth but a warm smile. She has no hair; instead, her head is covered with many tiny green snakes. They're usually docile, but can reveal intense emotions. Professor W thinks they used to be poisonous, but are completely harmless now. Fidi wears skirts that cover her ankles, sneakers, and a dark hoodie that covers her head for as long as she can get away with it.

Personality: Fidi is withdrawn, but not afraid to answer if someone speaks to her. She smiles often and laughs very loudly. She can be distrustful and gets strong feelings of jealousy. She takes what people say to her to heart, and is therefore easily insulted; but it's also very easy to cheer her up. Once she forms strong ties with someone, she'd do anything for them.

Hobbies: Reading, studying, and running.

Backstory: Fidi's head was recovered in 2000 AD. Humans being humans, they quickly rebuilt her body and re-created her anew; but soon found that any memory before Posiedon was completely erased. Fidi cannot remember being a monster, no matter how many times someone tells her the story. Fidi is one of the few students that was brought to the Academy with govornmental consent, after they realized they really didn't want a superpowered child to take care of.

Other: N/A

Name: Mark Miller, AKA Comm

Age: 17

Level: Alpha

Power: He's telepathic; he can send messages into someone else's brain, and skim the very top of their thoughts. He can't transmit more than a few decimeters, which is something he's working on.

Appearance: Mark is Asian, with the customary dark hair and eyes. The former is cut in a way that his older brother had always called "girly," with bangs over his forehead and dangling to the middle of his neck. He usually wears sweatpants and loose t-shirts.

Personality: Mark is naturally quiet - clearly, as he can't hear himself speak. This doesn't stop him from communicating, though. He's a chatty kid and has long telepathic connections with other people - all they have to do is think what they want to say, and he'll hear it. He enjoys playing pranks on other people and is rather reckless. Mark is very outgoing and will talk to anyone he sees; he calls it his greatest asset. He is, however, very indecisive and hates decision-making.

Hobbies: Sneaking around the school, reading people's minds, chatting, pranking

Backstory: Mark was born completely deaf. He can read lips and knows sign language, so he was able to get by. But one day, to his shock, voices started to fill his mind - even when no one was talking. Mark soon realized he was a mutant and was able to run away from home and go to the Academy.

Other: There has been talk of Professor Belkin making something to help Mark hear. However, he's not sure if he wants it.

Fidi~

I wake up to another morning of ignoring the mirror.

Professor W refuses to let it rest. As I open the closet, my hand easily finding the handle that it's traveled to so often, I can hear the mirror dangling from its door clanking against the wood. I pick a dark skirt, my usual hoodie, and pull on a pair of socks, staring only at my bed as I dress. I slip into the bathroom that I share with two other girls, looking only at the sink as I brush my teeth and wash my face.

I can't look at myself.

No matter what Professor W says. She tries to force me into it, but I just can't. I used to be so beautiful that Poseidon himself had interest in me. I loved to look at my own reflection in the water. And now - now -

One of my snakes hiss and rubs its face against my cheek. Absentmindedly, I pet it.

The snakes. The horrible, horrible snakes that disfigure me and make me the monster I am are also my closest friends. Some cruel kids call me "Snake-girl." And they're right. That's all I am. Everything was taken away from me.

I walk out of the bathroom. The school is arranged ingeniously, in my opinion. The bedrooms are all their own separate floor, only accessable from the main hall. There are other stairwells all through the school; some lead to the same floors, but some have their own special rooms, like Hogwarts. The first few days it's hard to get around. The main stairs lead through all of the places you really need. The second floor is all the students' living needs. Our bedrooms are arranged in threes, and though we all have our own room, they're connected by the bathrooms that we share. Then, if you walk past the stairs, we have a huge dining hall, where there's a breakfast buffet every day. I've never found out exactly who cooks. Maybe a telekenetic, I'm not sure.

The other floors are mostly classrooms and libraries, but that's not where I'm going today. After eating my own breakfast, I have to go downstairs, past the stairwell, and out the back door into our huge courtyard.

The courtyard is one of the best places to be. We have a basketball court, pond, baseball field, and a length of grass for anything else.  Of course, there's also targets and dummies and things you'd find in a gym, but they're all for practicing your power.

Ha! That's a laugh.

Nobody wants me to practice on them. You can't put a dummy to sleep. Professor Lorcan has told me plenty of times that he'd be happy to do it himself, but as the teacher he simply can't. I know he can feel my guilt whenever I practice, though. Usually, during this hour, he sends me to basketball or something with the kids who can control their powers.

Today's no different. I'm one of the first out, so he has a chance to smile and welcome me. "How about you do some track today?" he suggests, pointing to the field. I grin. He's kidding. Along with normal track, we also have rows made of ice, and some made of water for those lucky mutants who can run on it or avoid it.

I lace on a pair of ice skates, pulling them tight as I can. I love ice skating. I'd never seen ice before, because it's much too cold for Greece, but now I love it, and I try to go on it as much as I can. I can already do a figure eight. But that's not what we're doing today - if it was, the pond would be iced over. No, this is for speed and stamina.

I carefully place one foot on the ice, then push off.

Arienne~

I have the same nightmare again, and wake up abruptly, the same way I've been waking up for the past few days.

I look at the clock. I'm up early again, so I get up and stretch so I can go on a run. I don't have to worry about waking up anyone. After The Incident, they decided to put me by myself.

After I put on my running clothes and shoes, I walk over to the bathroom, brushing my teeth, brushing my hair that curls anyway, and pulling it up while finishing getting ready.

I walk out of my room, heading down the hall and stairs, then heading outside into the fresh air. The sun is just beginning to rise, so I stretch and then begin to run.

When I jog, I can clear my head, not having to worry about controlling my powers.

I run for a few hours until I finally arrive back to the enterance of the school. I take a deep breath and walk inside, heading upstairs and through a few hallways before ending up back in my room.

After a shower, I dry and brush my hair again. This is the same pattern everyday. The same flow. Every day.

I then pick a light pink tee, black jeggings, and regular converse, grabbing my stuff and black hoodie with white marble patterns on it.

Time for another day, the same as all the other ones.

Osana~

Osana finished tackign the note to the tree and looked at it, proud of her work. She knew from watching from her window that most loners in the school came out in the early morning to clear their heads. So did she.

It didn't really make sense. She knew that that one girl had HUGE amounts of power, and so did others, but Osana herself was a Beta. She had impressive telekinetic skill, pointy ears, and nothing else.

She frowned at the frost on the edge of the note. It wasn't that cold.

Her birthmark shuddered and she winced, her vision turning teal for a second.

She shook it off and looked back at the note: "If anyone wants premiere tickets to Space Rocket Guardians 2, I have a bunch. Meet me by the tree by 2 o'clock. Don't be late."

It was a long shot, sure. Osana smiled.

Trying to meet loners was always a long shot.

Avienne~

I pass the Rec area, but notice a small note pinned to the tree. It tells to meet to see a new movie at 2:00. I consider coming, until I realise who wrote it. I notice the elegant handwriting to be Osana's, from when I grade her papers. I don't know if she likes me, but I wouldn't blame her if she didn't. She's just another person who doesn't want to be my friend because of what I am. These are the moments I wish I wasn't so...different.

I decide to go anyway, because I want to see the movie, and continue on my way to the gym area to start power training.

This should be fun.

Not.

So, does each kid have their own room, and then shares a bathroom with two other kids of the same gender? Can Sierra and Tia share a slightly larger than average room, because, afterall, the only reason Sierra is here is because she wouldn't leave Tia.

Sierra~

The bippity-beep of Tia's crazy early alarm clock calls me from my slumber. I may love my twin, but she is absolutely crazy, getting up this early.

I hear a light thump as Tia jumps out of her upper part of our bunkbed, and then the infernal beeping subsides as she presses the off button. She taps me, whispering, "Get up, Sierra. Get up," while poking my back.

I roll over so that I'm facing her, and groan,"Let me sleep in, please? The sun has barely risen, and we don't have to be in class until nine thirty."

Tia pokes at me one more time, then turns, and leaves me alone, hopefully so she can do more energetic things that require getting early, but I'm not so sure, for some reason.

I am just about to fall asleep again, when Tia turns on her heel, leaps back torwards my bed, and tickles me. I start kicking, as is my normal reaction to tickling, almost hitting her in her face several times, but not quite.

"Hey!" She complains.

"Stop... Stop tickling me," I manage to get out inbetween my unintentional giggles.

She does stop, but remains with her hands hovering just above me, ready to launch another attack if I don't comply with her terms. I know what she's going to ask. "Only if you get out of bed and run with me," she says.

I have no choice. I nod, and roll out of bed, flopping onto the floor, right on top of Tia's feet. She pulls her feet out, and skips torwards the bathroom that we share with one other girl. As soon as she is out of the room, I pull myself back into bed.

Tia~

How can Sierra sleep so late? I wonder, as I brush my teeth. She's crazy, wasting the day away. I run back to our room to drag Sierra down for breakfast, but she is asleep, again. Just this once, I can let her sleep in, I think, but tomorrow she better be ready to run.

*************

The consistant, rythmic slap of my feet against the hard-packed ground lulls me into a daze, my thoughts wandering far away, back to home, where Mum and Dad are. Oh, how I miss them. Sierra must feel this way all the time, because she doesn't have friends to distract her.

I check my watch, and turn to head back torwards the school, when I notice a piece of white paper stapled to a tree. Meet here at two pm. I have tickets to Space Rocket Guardians Two, it reads. Yes! I loved the first one! And Sierra did, too. Maybe If she comes she'll make some friends! I resolve to drag Sierra with me, when I come here at two.
