Chatterbox: Inkwell

It's a regular

It's a regular summer evening. You have your window open, and a faint but cool breeze blows in. Suddenly, the wind blows harder and colder, and a number of dried leaves and a white envelope blows in. You bend down to pick up the envelope and find, to your surprise, that it is closed with a medieval-looking wax seal. The seal bears an emblem of a dragon, curved around a tree. Inside is a letter.

Greetings, CBer:

If you are reading this letter, you have been invited to an exclusive trip. Our organization has found disturbances in an unknown mountain range. We mean to seek out this disturbance and study it; it appears to be a living species. Your assistance is crucial to this project. Though it is entirely at your discretion, we hope you choose to come. If you do so, please fill out the form attatched and leave it on your windowsill with this invitation. Regards,

Lady Saga Tremayne

As you open the envelope to look for the form, you find two pieces of paper. One is folded neatly and seems to be the same cream-colored paper that the invitation was written on. The other is slightlly crumpled and is made of a different paper. It's darker, and bears a water-stain in one corner. Of course, you open the crumpled one. It appears to be completely blank, but as you turn it this way and that, you notice faint and hastily scribbled lettering, reading: Help, CBer! You and the others must go to Lady Tremayne's "expedition," but you must only pretend to follow her orders. What she intends to trap and train is a wild beast, and one that must be protected. I am disguised, but I will give you a message when the time comes.

As soon as you finish reading the note, it crumbles away to dust in your hands. The other paper is a the form:

Okay that's it. Sorry it was long! I'll post my character a little later. The first, oh, 12 or 13 posts will get in (the number might change)

*Disclaimer: this is my first rp, so I'm probably going to make mistakes. I have literally no idea what I'm doing (I don't even know if this rp is going to succeed), so correct me if necessary.*

That could be good. One thing I was thinking was that Megumi could hear Trillium playing the violin and wanted to learn, and Trillium could teach her a bit? You can say no, of course, it's just an idea. Perhaps Trillium could ask to go check the stairs for her or something. I don't remember her charrie sheet very well, so that might not fit her personality. The friendship would have to be very gradual, but, as I put in her charrie sheet, once Megumi becomes your friend (which is pretty hard) she is extremely loyal. You said Trillium was good with plants; maybe she could find some herbs or something that would help a bit? I don't know if that was what you meant.

I love the idea of Trillium teaching Megumi a little violin!  I’ll try to fit in Trillium playing violin and asking to check the stairs for Megumi sometime.  Trillium has first aid skills and is good with plants (healing wise). So she could help Megumi with her leg in those ways.  I’m so glad you said yes to our characters being friends!

Is anyone going to post?

Um, is anyone going to post? I would but I don't want to take over Trillium's going to see Megumi and another chapter from Megumi's point of view would be pointless (sorry, that was an awful pun) and dull (okay, another really bad pun. Sorry!). If somebody's working on one, please take your time and don't rush. I just want to make sure this doesn't die, because I'm really liking it so far. Also, for later on, if you have an illustration for the RP can you put it on the RP thread? I'm really bad but have a few ideas and might post them if they turn out decent.

I’m working on a post!  I have it in my head and will be writing it down soon.  I’m sorry it’s taking so long.  Blackfooted Bobcat, is there anything you want Megumi to say or do (other than acting very shy) when Trillium finds her?

Probably struggle against being helped a bit, maybe try to escape (but fail.) As for speech, maybe something along the lines of "What do you want?" in a very quivery voice. I think that when Megumi really starts to trust Trillium should be when she starts to teach her violin. (This is actually kind of coincidential, because I might be able to start learning violin soon! I already play viola and clariet. And extremely limited ukelele.) After Megumi is helped, she might start, say, nodding towards Trillium if Trillium notices her in the hall (not if she sees Trillium but Trillium doesn't see her). I'll put in a bit more later, I have to go now.

Sorrrrrrrry, I should have paid more attention to this rp than I should have. Here's my first post. It's short, but its the best I can do.

~Dusk~

I could almost feel everyone's brains trying to decide how to answer the kelpie question. I myself didn't know much, so I didn't know what to say. Out of the silence came Sally's answer. "Oooh its a mythical creature, isn't it?  I want a mythical creature. Does it live on a rainbow? And have soft fluffy fluff? And have big wings? And-"
"You have no idea what a kelpie is, do you?" I asked.
"No idea, but they sound cool!" Sally replied.
I suppose I had even more info than Sally did. I knew they were some sort of shapeshifting underwater creatures who liked to carry off children.  Some other people started saying things, but I could hardly hear them. I had realized this might be the creature the letter was telling us about. If this is true, I thought, then what does she want with it? And more importantly, how do we save it without giving ourself away?

Ahrg, I’m sorry.  This is taking me longer than I thought.  I have no idea how Trillium is going to get Megumi out of the hallway.  I had Megumi faint, but Trillium couldn’t carry Megumi.  I can’t think of a way to have Megumi trust Trillium enough to let Trillium support her while she walks.  Any ideas? I’m having trouble thinking of any.

It's fine that it's taking so long; take however long you need to write it. I won't let this die. I wrote out both of their character sheets; let me check them. Bribery would not be a good way to build trust, obviously. Trillium could start playing violin in the hall, but that would be hard to make work because when your character is empathetic and kind, so music definately won't be her top priority at the moment. If necessary, you could have her go back and get help, although that's not ideal. Or she could see the ladder, go down it, and find something useful (especially because she's good at rock-climbing), but there's the afformentioned problem of that going against Trillium's character. I didn't completely sketch out Megumi's backstory, but I'm not sure she's usually treated that nicely, so maybe that could help her trust Trillium enough. That's really the main thing I can think of, at the moment, but I'll keep working on it.
