Cult of the Dragon Egg RP

You walk down the familiar, narrow tunnel, off for another day of work. the torches are spaced far apart, casting flickering shadows on the bare stone walls. You enter The Cove of the Dragon Egg, a rounded stone cave withought much in it which has become the place where you spend almost as much time in as your home. On the other side of the Cove There is a giant egg - the last in the world, and what it has become your duty to protect. The egg has a mainly chocolate brown, craggle surface, with lots of other flecks of color, and it has a pulsating green light. Bu something seems different today. The flecks of color, usually undertoned that you have to squint to see clearly are brighter, and so is the light coming off of it, and - wait. You gently touch the egg, knowing every crack and crevice after spending years around it. you hand travels doen and - there. At the base of the egg, a new crack has appeared. Than you remember. The prophecy that fortold that the egg would hatch a month from now! The cult will have finally succeded in protecting the egg, and your duties as a dragonwhisperer would soon get a lot more complicated.

The Cult of the Dragon Egg

You, and 11 other special people known as Dragonwhisperers have become The Protectors of the Egg, due to your unique ability to protect it. The egg that your cult is centered around is the last of its kind in the world - the last dragon, and not even a dragon just yet. A Dragonwhisperer is someone (a human) who can telepathically comunicate with dragons. they also have starnge, magical quirks (i.e. eyes that flash purple). Long ago a prophecy had predicted that, one day, after a great war, there would be no more dragons left in the world but one egg, and it fortold that it would hatch a month from now. There are also many other people in the cult, even if their duties are not very related to the egg. The cult's origins are shrouded in mystery, but the goal has always been clear: protect the egg, and the dragon.

The World

This takes place in a magical world with magical creatures (and non-magical ones).  Humans do not have magic (although Dragonwhisperers are magical). About 50 years ago a war which had lasted for many years ended. All of the dragons dies and none of there eggs survived, but one. It is a mystery how such powerful creatures could be wiped out.

A/N: Oh, Greg's waiting. XAVIER GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE!! ALSO OUT OF RESPECT, XAVIER CALLS GREGORY ’SIR KAL’ BECAUSE ’MR. KAL’ SOUNDS WEIRD TO ME!!

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Xavier snapped awake, accidentally falling off his bed.

”Agh!” he muttered, trying to untangle himself from his bedsheets.

"Nightmares...” he thought, as he looked at his cuckoo clock. It was old and didn't chime anymore, but it still had the time. 7:25 AM.

Sir Kal’s waiting for the Dragonwhisperers!” Xavier realized, horrified by his own mistake.

He knew that Sir Kal was an early riser, and probably already waiting.

Xavier scrambled to get up, and immediately started to get ready.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

As Xavier entered the Cove of the Dragon Egg, he noticed Sir Kal was the only one there.

Nevertheless, Xavier launched into muttering a thousand apologies.

Gregory raised an eyebrow. "Uh, you know your the first one here? your early. and I'm always supposed to arrive before the Dragonwhisperers, as I am the Overseer." He shook his head, annoyed at Xavier's a thousand apologies. "And remember: the Egg hatches in just a month. That means your duties as a Nurturer are larger than before."

Okay, to clear some stuff up: attacks on the egg aren't super common, and its usually just a crazed wild animal. One of the main reasons that the Dragonwhisperers ar ethere is to nurture the egg. There are two kinds of dragons, although I haven't yet decided what the types are called. these aren't differerent species or breeds, there are many different species in each type. these are the main types:

Type A -  These kinds of dragons are very good fighters. They are smaller and have shorter lifespans than type B. Most have fire.

Type B - More natury, kinder dragons. slightly less common but not very. they are larger and have longer lifespans than type A dragons and get along with other species better. they are also less intellegent. they are slowr than type A and less good at flying.

They determined that the egg will hatch a type B dragon. Dragons are healthier of they are Nurtured while in the egg. For a type A dragon you nurture it by putting it in a fire and keeping it warm. Type A dragons are very unhealthy if they don't get nurtured, and some die still in the egg. To nurture a type B dragon, dragons or Dragonwhisperers (Dragons are better, but Dragonwhisperers will do) have to spend time with it, sharing their warmth with it. Type B who don't get nurtured aren't as unhealthy as type A ones, but they still are a bit and Nurturing a type B dragon makes it tamer and healthier and wiser.

I hope it's ok for me to start? I fixed my charries age, so I'm hoping she's accepted. If I still need to change it I'll just do it afterwards, since it doesn't really matter in this particular post.

Zaida:

The ground, slick with water that seeped through from an ancient river, threatened to pull Zaida's feet out from under her as she ran, but she had overslept, so this was the way it must be. While she normally would have taken the drier, longer, sane tunnel to get to work, she was now forced to take a shortcut to make it in time.

Zaida skidded and halfway slipped around a corner, slamming into the wall before pushing off and continuing. It occured to her briefly that it could be dangerous, running around in unused tunnels, but then it occured to her that if she didn't hurry up she really was going to be late, so she kept running. She was used to the tunnels now, anyways, and knew the signs of danger to look out for. Even so, carefulness was not always one of her specialties.

Rounding the final corner, Zaida skidded out into the Cove much faster than she intented, and slammed right into Gregory Kal, who was much larger than her and therefore did not budge. "Terribly sorry Mr. Gregory Kal Sir, for being late and for running into you. Won't happen again!" she said, hopping up quickly and saluting somewhat comically. He was not amused.

"You're late," Kal said sternly.

Zaida looked around. Xavier was the only other one there.

"But I'm only the second one here," she replied with a touch of defiance.

"Just because you're here before others does not mean that you aren't still late," he reminded her.

Even so, as other members of the group trickled in, Zaida couldn't help but notice that Kal didn't say anything to them about their lateness.

"I'm starting to think this was just about running into you," she muttered under her breath.

Then, she noticed a new crack in the egg that they had been watching, and all of the sudden realized: soon. The dragonwhisperers had been guarding the egg for all this time, and finally, it was almost time for it to hatch.

(Oh, so in CB roleplays you can play other characters? Okay, I get it, just don't make them make decisions, really.)

Corinthia arrived in the Cove third. By the way that the people there reminded her that the egg was only a month away from hatching she guesses that they had forgotten. But she hadn't.

"Common, guys, we need to nurture the agg more," she said.

That's what I've been saing" said Gregory.

She wasn't a great Nurturer but she decided to start. Dragonwhisperers weren't as good at it as humans, after all, so they had to do it a lot. She pressed her hand against the shell, feeling it pulse just slightly. She curled  up next to it, pressing her body to it, and thought of all the things that she wanted this dragon to absord; a Type B dragon will have a different personality based on what it absorbs, after all. she though of love, of kind people, of all the things that this dragon might want to know, warming it with her body, hoping that at least one thought would penetrate the thick shell. The others soon followed, pressing their bodies up to it and closing their eyes. Corinthia stood up, stepped back, and said,

"I'll go in gaurd duty. wait for the others to arrive." That was a duty she much preffered anyway.

Because Gregory has different duties than the Dragonwhisperers I'm gonna make a Dragonwhisperer so that I can roleplay her and you can understand Dragonwhisperer duties more. I think that I'm gonna modify my OC Corinthia to be a Dragonwhisperer instead of a half-dragon and take away the part about hating not being in charge because thats too Gregory-like, and change her backstory. So now there are only about half the slots left!

Name: Corinthia

Age:31

Gender: female

Personality: Responsibile and tough. Proud. Defensive. Can be very sarcastic.

Looks: Thick, coal black hair worn in a braid and coal black eyes. Olive skin. Feirce look and high cheeckbones. Simple grey clothes under dragonhide armor (not considered cruel in the cult! I feel like I have to say that) with fire decorations.

Strengths: knowing what to do, fighting, staying concentrated

Weaknesses: not being great in casual social situations, bad at admitting that she is wrong

Likes: fire, dragons, traditions, leading a battle

Dislikes: not getting to keep traditions, casual things in general

Dragonwhisperer quirk: her tounge becomes forked when she is frustrated and flicks in and out of her mouth.

Backstory/why your they are part of the cult: Ill continue later gotta go!
