Featherwood Hall RP

---

Heyo mayo, I'm here with another RP that I'm probably not going to participate in B)

---

Basic worldbuilding:

Featherwood Hall is a boarding high-school out in the middle of nowhere–it's a pretty good boarding school, and famous for its many mysteries, that some would even call ... magic. There's never been any confirmation to these tales, but there have been rumors–rumors of clocks that don't tick the same, and fountains of youth, and magical staircases.

And is it true?

Of course.

Your characters are brand new freshmen, and they've just moved to Featherwood Hall. On the first day, the mysterious librarian, Mr. Yin, asks them to retrieve a book he lost from somewhere in the school–and so, your characters set off on an adventure, full of magic and shenanigans, to retrieve Mr. Yin's book.

Uh, yea! The worldbuilding can literally be whatever you want it to be. Add a magical ghost who haunts an abandoned classroom? Yea! There's a minotaur living on the fourth floor? No problem! XD okay but you probably get the point–worldbuilding is generally up to you.

Thaaaaaat's it! I'll pop in from time to time to answer questions/add lore, and I might join when I'm less busy :D

Alright! So, for some background info, Mr. Yin asked all of your characters to help him find a book he lost, somewhere on the fifth floor of the school. The fifth floor is the highest floor of the school, and it's mostly abandoned, except for Ms. Dubois, who holds science class up there. There's also a lot of magic (mostly involving cursed items, magic mirrors, and alternate dimensions).

And I guess y'all can start roleplaying! :D

Pansy-

I tap my foot impatiently. Mr. Yin said that others would be here to join me in the search for his book, but apparently not yet. I bite my lip. Where are they? I look around, bored. The walls are lined with torches, kind of unique for a school. And the classes? They're anything but normal. My first class is Waterworks. Huh? What!? I'm almost scared to go to class tomorrow. I'm startled out of my thoughts by someone's footsteps. "Hi?" I say. I squint my eyes. "Hello." A voice replies from the end of the corridor.

Lucille~

Mr. Yin, the librarian, says he lost a book. And he needs our help to find it. Now, if this was just any school, we'd probably be combing the bookshelves, trying to locate a misplaced book. But this is Featherwood Hall, and I know this will probably mean running around the school and fighting off evil demons to grab the magic textbook they stole. Or something. Yeah, I'm still not used to my new magic school.

My footsteps echo through the silent corridor. I think this is the way to the library. At least, that's what that gargoyle told me. And I answered his riddle, so he'd better have given me the right directions.

"Hi?" I voice rings out.

"H-hello?" I reply cautiously. "Who's there?" Golden light shines through a doorway. I step in, and gasp. The room is lined with row upon row of bookcases, each carrying a colorful selection of books which may or may not be glittering. Books fly through the air, flapping their covers like wings.

"I'm Pansy." I turn to see a girl about my age with twin lilac buns. "You?"

"My name's Lucille," I say.

"Oh, that's a lovely name!" I say. "Thank you."is her response. I look around. The books are flying everywhere, going mad. The few that are on the shelves are crawling like spiders, or hobbling around on one leg. The library is practically a zoo, and an empty on at that. "Are you learning to use a baton?" I ask. I pull out my own baton. It's a long, slender stick made of silver, and it flares out at the end, ever so slightly.

Pansy takes out a baton. "No, I'm not," I say, "but I did see a sign saying 'Baton Twirling' on one of the classrooms on my way here. I look around. "We're the only ones here? Mr. Yin said there'd be more of us to help find that book...."

Pricilla-
I watch the two girls chat from behind a bookshelf. I guess I should go introduce myself.... But I'm so new here! What will they think of me? I sigh, remembering my mother's words: TRY to make some new friends at this school! Please? I glance around at all the books soaring through the air, black speckled pages rustling. It's a miraculous sight. I almost screamed when I first came into the library. I long to grab one from the air and hide in some nook to read by myself. But that's not why I'm here. We have to find a book. I gather my courage and step around the corner.
The girls don't notice. No surprise. I'm easy to miss. I suppose I should speak but, I came out from the bookshelf, didn't I? Isn't that good enough? I decide to wait a little longer before I speak....

I hope it isn't too late to join? If so, consider the following information moot =)

Name: Alyssa (I felt "nemesis" and straight up "lyssa" might be a bit on the nose...) Deerwhick

Pronouns: She/Her

Appearance: Wears a dark blue button-up plaid shirt with her bright fall-orange sweater tied around her neck to drape over her shoulders like a very short and ineffective cape. Also dirt-stained jeans.

Personality: A very funny, laid-back person who has a core of iron when it suits her. Generally pretty goofy and friendly, always paying attention to other people's actions. Not at all opposed to conflict and very direct. Totally brutal to the people she thinks are jerks. She'll do her best to get along with another person right until she snaps and throws them out the window while monologueing about how seriously morally incorrect their every action has been up to this point and how this curbstomp has SO been coming to them.

Powers (optional, you can be totally normal): Can slip through shadows. Doesn't often do it (why skip all that great scenery?). This isn't a power but, uh, she also enjoys walking very quietly and appearing in odd and unexpected places to freak other people out.

Other: Once sat totally still on a vintage chandelier, grinning like a vulture for two hours above a crowded business reception just to see if anyone would notice. They did, and she greatly enjoyed their panicked screaming.

Admins, could you add to the part of my post labelled appearance? Just insert the following if possible, please.

Short curly mane of light brown hair, light skin and nearly black hazel eyes.

Thank you in advance!

I skip into the library, magnifying glass in tow. I've been waiting for an excuse to use this thing, and then Mr. Yin comes up to me and asks for help finding a missing book! A mystery is the exact thing my magnifying glass needs. It was my great-aunt Lily's, about a hundred years old like her, and she finally gave it to me when I left for boarding school after I'd been eyeing it for years. It has a wooden handle with a little rune carved into the bottom--even aunt Lily doesn't know what it means--and the slightly speckled glass can magnify a bug to the size of a cat. Admittedly, one might not need a magnifying glass to find a book, but you never know what might come up along the way.

There are three girls in the library already. One has blonde hair, one red, and one purple. They all look a little nervous, and they're watching the flying books in the library with wide eyes. I'm not too fazed by the bird-like tombs, since I've already visited the library about a hundred times in my 2 weeks at this weird school. It's still the coolest place I've ever been, though. Persnickety, at my heels, hisses and pounces on a book before I grab him by the scruff and tuck him under my arm. No use getting detention because my cat murdered a flying book. Although that would be a great story to tell aunt Lily.

I approach the girls. "Hi!" I say. I'm excited for this opportunity to make friends. "Are you guys excited? I think this is going to be fun. I'm Poppy, by the way."

"Hey, another flower name!" says the purple-haired girl. "I'm Pansy. Good to meet you."

"Priscilla," the blonde one says quietly.

"I'm Lucille," says the red-headed one. "Ready to find a book?"

That was longer than I intended but fun to write! I can't seem to write short things, like ever. I'm thinking the magnifying glass has magic powers.

Pricila-
As we stand around awkwardly, Mr. Yin suddenly stands before us. We all jump in surprise and I almost scream. "Aren't you going yet?" Mr. Yin asks in a whispery voice that is hard to hear. "I- I think there are some more people coming," I whipser, still terrified. Mr. Yin sniffs. "They'd better hurry up." He checks his watch which has a beautiful golden rim all around it. I lean closer to see it better. I see with surprise that there are little names on each of the clocks hands. I am stunned to realize that one of them is mine! It points to, "on time."
Mr. Yin tucks his watch back into his pocket. "If they aren't here soon, leave without them. Take the staircase." He dissapears instantly. We all gasp. "What did he mean?" asks the girl with lilac buns. "Take the staircase? What else would we take?" I am about to reply when I happen to glance up at a passing book. I gasp in surprise! descending out of the ceiling (which is so high it is barely in sight) is a spril staircase! It is made of iron and is very intricately designed. The staircase shudders to a creaky halt.

I can already tell that Poppy and I could totally be friends. Anybody with a cat as cute as hers is immediately my friend. "So, I was told that many kids would come. This book must be really important. Anyway, what do you guys study here? I think I'm the only one here that doesn't even have a specific magic, but I'm trying! How about you?" I grimace at my awkward excessive talking, but I guess I'm talking for the people who aren't.  I've always been that way. "We'll", Poppy starts, but someone walks in, interrupting her. "Hi! My name is Pansy! What is your name?"

This is my first RP so I hope I do this right! Lavvy-

I walk into a room with some other girls around my age. Mr. Yin wanted me to find a book with others. Okay...? That sounded fine. Until I saw the huge library. How was one supposed to find a specific book in there?

A girl with double lilac colored buns turns around. "Hi!" She says. "My name is Pansy! What is your name!" I smile. "I'm Lavvy! Nice to meet you! Anyways, are there more people coming, or is it just us." Another girl opens her mouth to speak, a girl with a cool magnifying glass with a rune on it, but Pansy is much too quick. "There should be others," she says. "But we have nothing to do in the meantime." The others nod. I guess our problem was solved, because someone else walked into the room.

Hey @dreamiing, do you want Alyssa and Astra to arrive at the same time? Like, they both got lost and enter together? They might have good chemistry. Not necessarily romantic, but they have interestingly different character traits that could either mesh well or grind together horribly.
