Author Pairs

I'm not sure if any of you remember this or not, but I found a really cool thread from a while ago. It's too long to comment on again, but I thought I'd try to make another one just like it. Here's what it is (copied from the original thread):

The Author Pairs Movement.

Hello, welcome to 'The Author Pairs Movement.' (TAPM).

---------------------------------------------

A

Q: What exactly is 'The Author Pairs Movement'

A: 'The Author Pairs Movement' otherwise known as the TAPM is a place where authors to come and look for another similiar to them in level and genre and pair up with them to write a poem, song, short story, chapter story, etc.

Q: So...how are they paired up with their match?

A: Well first the TAPM managers view the forms that authors have filled out, and judging by the quality of the sample story (poem, song, etc) and the type of genre they like, the TAPM managers will pair them up with someone who is on the same level and likes the same genre.

Q: So, in the forms, do you have to give out any real information..like last name, address, email...you know, stuff you could track me down with?

A: Nope! You just have to give out your name (first name only) or your nickname, a sample story (song, poem, etc.), and likes and dislikes!

B

Be nice!

Follow all Cricket rules!

You can have one partner per story! (Song, poem, etc)

Anyone want to try it with me? Oh, and if you want to check out the first one yourself, go to Inkwell, click "replies" twice, and click the thread that says "Author Pairs Movement".

Oregano-No, you don't have to post your real name. Only the name that you use here on the CB.

Oops, sorry it took me a while to post my form. Anyways, here it is!

Name: Princess P.

Story:

Jess and her friend Alli chatted as they walked down the hallway of Eagle Middle School. "Are you ready for classes today? I heard that there's a mysterious series of tests coming up. No one knows anything about it except for that it won't be easy," Alli remarked to Jess.

"Yeah, I think I'm ready," replied Jess, who never really liked tests at all. She was pretty much a straight B student who didn't like to study for tests. "Are you? You couldn't have studied, could you? We don't know what the tests are on!"

"I studied!" exclaimed Alli, who always studied for tests. She was an A plus student who always turned in her homework perfect and on time. "Why wouldn't I study for a test? I pretty much learned some new spelling words from the dictionary, worked on some of the population of countries and cities of the world, wrote a few essays…"

"Okay, okay, I get the idea. So do you think you'll win?" Jess asked.

"Maybe, maybe not. There are some subjects that others are better at, you know," Alli told Jess, as they walked into their history class.

"There are?" Jess exclaimed, incredulously. "I haven't known anyone to beat you at anything when it comes to school smarts!"

"Aw, come on, Jess. You know that geography isn't exactly my best subject," argued Alli.

"What? You are the only person in the world that I know that can rattle off each and every country of the world!" Jess told her.

"And their capitals," interrupted  Alyssa, another friend of Jess. The three of them were referred to as "The Three Musketeers".

"See?" Jess smiled at Alli "You are sure to win. I'll bet you, ummm…a chocolate shake from the Shake Shop."

"Well…" Alli started.

"Make it two," Alyssa told her. "You are definitely going to win."

"Okay, then. I guess I'll take the deal," Alli said, reluctantly.

"Good," Jess told her. "No one stands a chance against you!"

And, yes, I know that is over 200, but it's the only short story that I have right now. Sorry, I guess I should've made the word limit a little bit more. From now on, you just have to post an excerpt or a short story, just try not to make it too long because, remember, that this is a sample story so that everyone can kind of get the hang of your writing style. If you want to see more of my stories, you can check out Kat's RP on Inkwell. I'm Kataira and Eli on there.

Favorite Genres:

Story-Historical fiction, some fantasy (fairies, unicorns, etc. [I think that's what fantasy is, right?])

Songs-Never written one :-)

Poetry-I usually like to write free style poetry. Some rhyming ones, but not much. Here's one of my poems that I've written. It's called Writer's Block.

Blank paper.

Still pen.

Writer's block.

Thoughful mind.

Quiet Den.

Writer's block.

Clock ticks.

Nothing moves.

What to write?

What to choose?

Take a minute.

Look around.

What do you see?

So much abound!

Dove, daisy.

Going crazy!

Bush, tree.

So much to see.

Girl, boy,

Bike, toy,

Love, joy,

Sensational!

Inspirational!

So much to write!

So much to choose!

Maybe I'll write

About dirty shoes!

Writer's block done,

Fun's begun!

I hope that wasn't too long. Anyways, Amy G., do you think you and I would go well together?

@Oregano-- Oh no! Yet again have I made a mistake with words! Forgive me! What I mean is: I WOULD BE SUPER HAPPY TO WRITE WITH YOU!!!! I hope you weren't offended if you interpreted "obliged" wrong... Anyways, I hope you still want to write with moi.

Elizabeth M. and Oregano--If you are reading this, that means that your thread has been set up. It's called "Oregano and Elizabeth M.'s Thread". Very original, don't you think? :-)  Anyways, that is where you two can write your story/poem/song together. You can discuss what you want to write about. And I forgot something. Everyone in the Author Pairs has to make a promise to keep up your thread and not let it die until it is finished and everyone can read it. Okay? I'll take the promise first.

"I, Princess P., promise to keep up my thread with _________ and will not let it die until it is finished."

Okay, now everyone else can take it!

DEFINITELY!  Too many threads have died on me.  (And too many goldfish.)

I, Oregano, promise to keep up my thread with Elizabeth M. and will not let it die until it is finished.

Spammy says oemp.  Oemp?

Hope to see you on our thread soon, Elizabeth M.!

I, Amy G., promise to keep up my thread with Princess P. and will not let it die until it is finished (so help me God).

The oath of TAPM.

I'd like to write a story/poem/song with you, Princess P.  How does it work, exactly?  Is it like an RR with two people?  I think our writing style would balance each other out because you seem to get action and dialogue down very well and I put in too many details.

By the way, do you still have any interest in the "Modern Round Robin" that was started recently?  I just think I remember you said you were interested.  Just wondering.

Name (First name or nickname only.): Analesia (nickname)

Song, Poem, or Story sample. (A short 200 words or less sample of a song, poem, or story that YOU wrote.):

There was no turning back now.  I took a deep breath and jumped.  Please let Dad be right.  Please let Dad be right. I feel my legs smooth into a tail.  I'm really a mermaid. "I suppose you're Natalina," someone tells me. I look down and see a crab.  "Yeah," I reply. "The promised one," he whispers.

Do you need more?

Favorite genre of stories, songs, poems, etc.: I'll do anything.  I like being challenged.

No, no one is.  TOP!  TOP!  TOP!  I'd love to join, but my CB life is about as full as I'd ike it to get.  If I start more stories I'll start getting my characters confused.
