Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Fin

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP&

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP

The sand is golden, the water is pleasantly bubbly, and everybody who’s anybody in Southeast Kyngdom is here. We’re your proud Sea Anemone hosts, Actiniaria and Hexacorallia, reporting LIVE from the most exclusive event of the year: the Enchantment Above the Sea ball, South Kyndom’s first-ever dry land-themed underwater ball. If you see us milling around, come say hi and give us the dish on all the watery gossip! You’ll recognize us by our wavy pink tentacles (quick shout-out to our sponsor, the Subaqueous Salon and Sea Spa).

Of course, in about twenty minutes, we expect the next Guardian of Fin to be announced, and believe us, the room is simply awash with anticipation. You can’t swing an underwater lasso without bumping into a group of whispering shellfish. But first, let’s turn our attention to the incredibly glamorous attendees and give you unlucky landlubbers listening to our broadcast a little taste of the P-A-R-T-Y.

Land ho, this place is sparkling. Each twenty-foot-tall underwater cactus is decked out in glimmering lights. The sand on the floor has been carefully blended with real gold flakes, creating a shimmering carpet underfoot. The punch is flowing, and graceful seahorses are passing out dry land-themed appetizers: miniature sea cucumber tacos, tiny teacups of coral chili, and nacho towers topped off with smoked seashells. We’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity chef that the organizers swam in for the occasion—he’s a clownfish who trained off the coast of France.

Most of the guests have adopted a look that we’d have to term “highbrow underwater cowboy.” We’re seeing a lot of denim gowns encrusted in barnacles and diamonds. Some of the wealthier guests are wearing silk bandanas and golden spurs. There’s even a cowboy hat or two—ooh, we’re seeing a scuffle unfold on the dance floor! There’s gold-tinted sand swirling through the water! Hold up one second, we’re getting the 411…apparently a Fangtooth Fish attempted to dance with a Vampire Squid, who turned out to be the date of a very muscular Frilled Shark. The sand just cleared, and neither Fish nor Shark is anywhere to be seen. Security here is no joke!

Naturally, the Powers are here in full force. They’re flexing their powerful…do dragons have muscles? They have to, right? They’re looking fabulous in formalwear specially designed by none other than the untouchable CERES AND COMPANY (we’ll hold for applause). And these drama-prone Kyngdomites even seem to be getting along, at least for now.

We’d be remiss not to mention the cornerstone of the décor: a giant ice sculpture in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by tantalizing desserts (salt-water granitas, anyone?). The sculpture is carved into the shape of a massive and very realistic rodeo scene, but instead of a cowgirl, the artist depicted a breathtakingly accurate version of our very own Finny—the heir apparent to the Guardian of Fin. The little dolphin is portrayed so accurately that she looks practically real. In fact, if you glance at the sculpture at just the right moment, you can almost see her eyes move. Magical! At the base of the ice sculpture is a keypad that requires a code, but it’s unclear what it’s meant for. Does anyone have any information? Come find us and spill the deets—we’re all tentacles.

The dancing is being put on hold for a moment, because it’s time for one of the much-anticipated activities: some of the lucky guests are about to try their fins at roping sea cows. The massive creatures are being released from a series of gilded pens, while guests shriek and attempt to catch them with lassos made from kelp. This activity certainly fits the theme, but it’s looking like no one can manage to catch a sea cow. In fact, the cows appear to be taunting the guests. We can’t believe it—they’re lining up and dancing a can-can! Hold on, now they’re swimming over the heads of the guests and disappearing into the deep blue of the ocean. The organizers look irate.

Having just slipped over to try a bit of the punch, your faithful correspondents are happy to report that the punch is especially tasty this year. Jeweled Rockskipper!

There’s something a bit different about it…a certain fizz…a tang on the back of the tongue. Perhaps the celebrity chef is trying out a new seaweed-infused simple syrup? In the interest of full gossipy disclosure, we’ve been hearing rumors that the punch is spiked—but we’d have to try another cup in order to report back for sure.

Ooh, Imagine Sea Dragons is about to take the stage: their hair is gelled, their buttons are shelled, and they look ready to rock. Hope they play their hit single, Radioactive (Materials are Leaking Into the Ocean—Thanks a Lot, Humans). Looks like it’s time for these anemones to get their groove on—come find us at the dance floor and tells us what’s really going on at this party. The wilder the rumor, the more we want to hear it! Actiniaria and Hexacorallia out.

I took a deep breath and the world slowed as i processed what had happened in the past few days. the boat, landing, and heading immediately to catastrophes castle, straight into the belly of the beats. immortal looking beast pounced on my friends, and colleagues, and vise versa. i stood in a dark corner of a room, that must have been the grand hall, as a battle unfolded before me, a thrashing mass of life destroying everything like a hurricane, but much more solid, involving people whose job is to fight the course of nature. I backed away from the sight of claw tearing into flesh accompanied by the sound of metal against metal. I opened the dore into a dark damp place, with no battles, and a solid door to protect me before i got back my bearings. the darkness engulfed my form. I stood in semi silence, before feeling the walls for a lightswitch. If i can ever remember a feeling for darkness, this would be it, dreary thoughts floating in and out of my head, the screams that signaled the pain from outside, and a smell that reminded me of the days on the raft. i smelled wet dog. my fingers traced the shape of a light switch and i flicked it on. there was a dog, multiple, coated in a smelling green liquid, it slowly dripping out of there clenched jaws as they slept. my eyes widened some more when I turned around. behind me was a wall of weapons. shotguns handguns revolvers machine guns, katanas, throwing knives tomahawk and small swords and even a large mallet with spikes of different sizes on each side. to top it all of, there were canons with a wide variety of ammo, some if which looked poisonous. I ran my fingers across the blade of a sword, and took it off of its place on the wall. I swung it around, using old lessons as a reference. now i had a weapon, and if i lost it, i always had a plan b.

That was beautiful...

But the boat crashed on a random island...

And  B.I.G isn't working with Catastrophe, they in fact extremely dislike him.

I slip though the crowd, unoticed. I make my way to the Dome's door, then go outside...Or, underwater. Once I am done with the meeting, I sneak back in the Dome. As I eagerly wait for the Guardian to be annouced, someone taps my shoulder. I turn around, my paw grips my hidden dagger. "Oh...It's you." I breath, relieved. My hand losens it's grip on the dagger. "You did come." The person behind said. It turns out to be a friend, smiling.

Sorry, was doing some... let's just say important things.

No, i'm not going to tell you.

No.

I said NO.

Fine.

First off, WOAH WOAH OH MY TALONS WHAT HAPPENED!!! CLAAWS YOU POOR CREATURE! WHAT WHAT HAPPENED.

Oh two sided tails and five winged dragons, WHAT???

Fine, I'll tell you what I was doing.

I step into my home and try something new. A spell. To, you know, destroy Jaaws.

It backfired.

So I crouch, flick my tail, and destroy half the cavern.

The runes burn in front of me, sparking and coiling. And then the ice cave explodes, daggers of  snow shoot at me, and the world goes black.

I groan and wake up, two hours later, and HALF THE MOUNTAIN IS TORN OFF.

WHAT WAS I THINKING!?!?!

So, the spell backfired and my home is destroyed.

OW. My whole wing is torn to shreds, membrane ripped. That's not going to be flying anytime soon. I try and do a healing spell on it.

The rune flickers and dies. My wing is still shredded.

Great.MY MAGIC IS GONE?! Even with moonlight and all, its going to be AEONS before I get my magic is back.

The power of Hoof And Fin are gone, I have no magic left, and my wing is totally shredded.

*Sigh.*

There are only 6 powers. Infinite?

There's 6 to avoid confusion, op charecters, ect. And only 2 of them are out of their instruments right now.

Sadly, we already have a Power of Fang. Or had. RIP Claaws.

Claaws was the Power of Fang. She was outcasted to 'Power of Darkness' for a while....long story.

I posted something outlining the Powers, but it's not showing up. Oh, well. Here it is:

The Powers are as follows.

-Ecio, clawed serpent, Power of Claw, associated with earth.

-Ayearth, sea serpent, Power of Fin, associated with water.

-Caelani, gryphon, Power of Wing, associated with fire, storms and the sky.

-Lunee, angel wolf, Power of Howl, associated with sound and the night (sky).

-Sylvia, unicorn, Power of Hoof, associated with life, growth and light.

-Claaws, dragon, Power of Fang, associated with darkness and destruction.

There may be infinite Sideaffected Powers, although I'm not certain how they're created, so I don't know.

I thought there were three active Powers right now? Ecio, Ayearth and Caelani... Right?

Well, technically each Power could create another sideaffected power. Caelani accidentally created three, being the only power that has more than one.

Lunee has no sideaffected Powers.

Lunee is a bit more than the power of howl. I added a few things to your list, including their sideaffected Powers. Your list was great already, I don't mean to be rude.

-Ecio, clawed serpent, Power of Claw, associated with earth.
His sideaffected Power...I forgot it's name, it is a Megatherium (a giant ground sloth.) I believe they call it Grondor.

-Ayearth, sea serpent, Power of Fin, associated with water.

His sideaffected Power was Xiaoyu, the only not entirely evil sideaffected Power, a chinese dragon.

-Caelani, gryphon, Power of Wing, associated with fire (fire? Where did you get this from?), storms and the sky, sort of strength.
He had three sideaffected Powers: Aya, a Pheonix, The Song of War Bird (Which basically became Catastrophe's pet), and a Manticore known as...Leptomiris. The Manticore was related to toxins and poisons.

-Lunee, angel wolf, Power of Howl, associated with sound and the night (sky), also light and good things. No sideaffected Power.

-Sylvia, unicorn, Power of Hoof, associated with life, growth and light (not as much light as Lunee).

Her sideaffected Power was Whist, who is completely insane, uses mist, controlls monsters (usually birds) with the mist, and is evil. She is a snowy owl.

-Claaws, dragon, Power of Fang, associated with darkness and destruction.

Her sideaffected Power is Jaaws, who is basically her twin except for the eyes, and he is insane and invested much in Catastrophe.
