MYTHS AND LEGENDS

This Book of Myths and Legends is intended to inform, illuminate, educate, and elucidate. But the trepidatious Reader must proceed with caution. Once the Reader has filled their mind with thoughts of Beasts, the Reader can no longer un-know them. Sometimes, the only safeguard against the shuddersome creatures that stalk this Globe is to utterly deny their existence.

Beast: Hexica

Many years ago, a man was reported missing in a village. his journal was found deep in the Kyngdom wildreness. His name has long since been forgotten (the journal didn't have his name on it, but it was confirmed his) but he tells of searching fo a 'stone tree.' In his last entry, he writes of hearing unnatural howls at night that chilled him to the bone. He gave the howls a name: Hexica. The man was never seen again, and other, similar disappearances have fueled rumors until no one in Kyngdom wants to go into the woods at night for fear of hearing a Hexica.

Hexicas are mysterious beasts; very little (actually, literally nothing) is known about them. They have never been seen before - only heard. No one wants to hear the sound of a Hexica. Legends say that if you hear it's eerie howl you will die the next day. In fact, no one has heard a Hexica's howl and lived to tell the tale. All we know is that there seems to be only one.

The Powers.

Not much is known about the Powers, but by examining many of the animal myths, we have found out this much:

The Powers were made at the beginning of time and helped create the world. There are many of the Powers, but all of them share the same unique ability to have two forms. One is of a normal beast, maybe a crow, panther, cat, owl, leapored, ect, and the other form is one of intense power and their true forms, most likely a rare and magical beast, such as a unicorn, dragon, sea serpent, gryphon, ect. The Power's names are here, but many of them we are not certain about:

Claaws, ?Angel Wolf?, ?Eeyes?, ?Sylvia?, ?Ayaer?, and many more.

Claaws's Power was supposedly the Power of Tooth and/or Claw. ?Sylvia?'s Power was Hoof. The Sarpaint's name is widely disputed over, but we think his/her name was ?Ayaer?, ?Ayaer?'s Power was Fin. Eeyes may not really have existed, but apparently her Power was Eye, to see the truth. There are many more Powers, but we know less about them than Claaws, Ayaer, Eeyes, and Sylvia. We know little of the time when the Powers were at large, but we know how they disappeared: According to myth, a human named ------ decided to try to deafeat the Powers. The story goes that after studying the effects of a certain flower on one of the Powers, he coated himself and his weapons with the flower's pollen and continued on to defeat the Powers, or so legend says. But the Powers cannot be killed, so instead of dying, their power was put into a vessel. Souces say that Claaws's Power was put into a hunting horn, ?Sylvia?'s Power into a conga drum, One legend says that ----'s Power was put into a Glass Armonica, though no historic confirm nor abolish this fact. Legend says the animals decided to gaurd these vesssels, often the Gaurdian was one of the forms that the Power took. For instance, the Power of Hoof's vessel is apparently gaurded by a horse, or some such animal.

According to myths, when someone uses the vessel in the correct way, he or she shall summon the Power..... and the Power shall once again roam the earth.

This is the legend of the PowerFriend (read more about this in my Gryphon Encounters comment)

There once was a human maiden with piercing blue eyes. She posessed a love in her heart that blossomed into a strange power that even she didn't know everything about. She was from a time when the Power Creatures walked the earth freely, and her strange ability allowed her to speak to them, and they were extremely fond of her, although she was human. She would sit next to the Gryphon and stroke its feathers, and feared none of the creatures.

When she sang, it seemed like the world stopped to listen. It is unknown if she has descendants or not (*cough* my charrie *cough*) but if they were living today, they would posess a small, weak magic.

There's writing sprawled on this page of The Book of Myths and Legends, it says:

My great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother...I tracked her at last. Is the child like me? If so, then he will not be happy. I love him, but how do I tell him this? Our daughter may posess the magic... The magic that saved my life once.

Notes on the PowerFriend (By Eli):

The powerfriend. Where do I begin? I'm horrible at writing in human. Ahh. well... The Power Friend. Does she want to set all of the creatures of the powers free? INCLUDING the bad ones? She's some kind of gaurdian. The FAFA must capture her... or Capn'O. She's too dangerous... 'Weak Magic'? Obviously some big coverup of this awesome power. If the Power Friend is part of the FAFA then she might be the spy we have been looking for!

The end of the note is signed with a pawprint.

More of my studies on this HUMAN creature known as the Power Friend later. I shudder in revulsion to think that a human is among us... And has been allowed to live among us. We need to keep her out of the way of her little quest to find Claaws, an evil Power Dragon Thing.

More notes on the Power Friend:  We need to capture her soon. I have read her threads enough, and now I know... She is on a quest to find the Dragon Claaws. I'm sending this manuscript to the FAFA. I hope that they will get it on time. Anyways, more notes. *there's a pawprint on the page* I think that currently she is in the mountains. I have seen a Gryphon in that area.THE Gryphon that Claaws set free. Maybe Claaws had help...   ~Eli <3

I turn the pages in the Book of Myths and Legends. A page on the PowerFriend, imagine! I can't believe that the Animals allowed me to see it, even if I can only see the book for 5 minutes. Obviously I am not trusted that much. I huff impatiently. I read about the PowerFriend and then papers fall out of the book. I scoop them up. "No!" I cry. What is this!? I read careful, almost perfect writing. Eliyana Fur? I don't recall the name. It's signed with a flourish and a heart.

The daintiness makes me sick. I don't understand. How does a fox from the arctic know about me? I think. I sigh and read the notes. They make me angry. She doesn't know my name. She calls me The Power Friend. As if I have no name, no identity except for my rank. Guardian... It's not fair. What do they want to do with me? Capture me? Just because I'm human? Can't there be good humans? Wh-why?! I am about to crumple the writing-She has been watching my every move. She doesn't deserve to know this much about my personal life...My quest. I take the notes and then- In comes Artemis the Fox.

"Your time is up for reading it," she says. "Only the best animals and agents--" AKA all of the Kyngdom players Laughing  y'all buggies are awesome!--"Can read this," she says. "And most don't get only 5 minutes to read," I say angrily. "You are not trusted by most animals," Artemis says. I sigh. "I thought becoming a Guardian would come with being cooler. I don't understand," I say. Then my fury ignites inside of me.

"What do I have to do to prove myself!?" I scream in fury.

Artemis only looks at me with sad, big eyes.

"Prove yourself," she says.

P.S: Hey Eliyana, I don't hate you. All of this hate is made-up and in the roleplay. Just letting ya know! I love your charrie and I don't want you to think that I hate you or something.

This bird's song brings anger and hatred. But there is more to it's story. Many many years ago the Fyre Bird was thought to have lost a loved one. It lives in agony now. People say, the only way to fight against the Fyre Bird is to use it's own weapon.

Beast: Sea Dragon.

The Sea Dragons, unlike their relatives, the dragons who realm on land, the Sea Dragon's Firee is not fire, elecricity, freezing water, nor blasts of wind. Their weapon is something much different and more varied. The dragons who roam on land have one certain Firee, such as wind or freezing water, but with the Sea Dragon, one Sea Dragon can make scalding water come out of their mouth, and another may only be able to breath a fog so thick that it could suffocate you, and a few can even summon storms at their will. The location of the Sea Dragons was once widely known, but after the Powers were defeated, the Sea Dragons have gone into hiding, and sighting one is very rare. However, after searching through many records, we have found a description of the ilusive Sea Dragon. It is enclosed here:

As I stood on the crew deck in that frightful storm, I caught a glimps of something long, snakelike, and with eyes that could see through to your soul. Then it was gone, and there was only the howling sea and panicked sailers for company. I was about to investigate further when lightning struck the mast. It was on fire and the sailers were sturred into a frenzy trying to dows the fire. I stood there, shellshocked, when I saw out of the corner of my eye, seaweed, or what looked at first glance like seaweed, but we were too far out for seaweed to be flaoting here. I squinted and looked closer. The things were the exact shape, size, and colour of seaweed, but I saw something below it. A body of a snake, exept huger, much huger. Before I could voice my suspicions to the captain, a huge head rose out of the writhing sea. The head was huge and the eyes bottomless pits of black. On it's head was spikes that ran the length of it's body, it was the spikes that I had mistaken for seaweed. You could see the power of it's body and the streamline shape of it. It's scales were the colour of the ocean, ever changing. It's eyes stared at us, and I stared back. For one second, everything was moving slowly, and the universe had become just us two. Me and the... the... Sea Serpent was the only thing to describe it. And as I stared into the fathomless black eyes, a voice echoed in my head. It was not my thoughts, but a unearthly voice, full of sympathy and.... sadness. The voice said to me that it could not take away the storm, for it's brother had summoned the storm and only it's brother could take the storm away. The voice said to jump onto it's back, otherwise I would die. I hesitated for one moment, then I jumped. All I remembered afterwords was feeling a sleek body underneath me, and speeding away from the storm. Then I woke up on a beach, with words ringing in my head. They were: "I am a Sea Dragon... one who does not want to cause harm."

This record of a sighting of a Sea Dragon was strange and mistaken in several ways. For one thing, Sea Dragons wouldn't be as big as the boat, which was a huge ocean liner. And for another, Sea Dragon's eyes are dark blue. Even more strangely is that Sea Dragons do not have the power to speak into minds. But there is a interesting theory to why this record is so strange. The theory says that the Sea Dragon sighted here was not a normal one. It could be one of the Powers, maybe the Power of Fin, he/she was rumored to be one of the kindest Powers.... strange, since the sea is not usually as kind. But otherwise, the description is very accurate, including the one of the spines, Sea Dragons are built to survive, mostly by using camoflauge.
