 In the dark

In the dark of night, two wolves ran across the forest into a cave. "What did you want to meet me here for?" the black wolf asked. "My family will get suspicious if I'm gone too long."

"Dusk," said the brown wolf, "What I'm about to tell you is very important. You must keep this a secret, no matter who you talk to, ok? And don't ever, ever put this in anybody's claws."

Dusk gulped. It was that important? HIs best friend, Timber, started work as part of an agency which conspires against B.I.G. a few years ago. Since then, Timber hadn't come back to his pack, so Dusk was ecstatic when Timber met him in the woods. He hadn't known it was for work purposes.

Dusk said, "Ok... But Timber, what's going on?" He said, "I have an item that you must keep safe. I stole this from B.I.G a few days ago. We can't let them have this magical artifact. B.I.G knows I have this item, and will go after me, thinking I have this, but instead, you will keep it safe and sound."

Dusk was startled. Him? He, taking care of an important item? "Is is THE item?" "No, but it's still dangerous. Take good care of it."

Timber went deep inside the cave and came back with a blue container. Dusk was still nervous. What if he failed? But he now felt a twinge of excitement. Dusk, if sucessful, was going to be a hero of the ages.

(Btw, if you want, you can play as any character I make besides Dusk as well as yours. But that's only if you want to.)

Howdy, I hope you don't mind if I hop in! I don't think I've seen you around before--I'm Hazel. Nice to meet you, Dusk!

Nesbit the Fox~

B.I.G. was back--and no one could explain it. Their laboratory had sprung back up seemingly overnight, and had been kept under strict security. No F.A.F.A. correspondent I was in contact with had gotten inside yet--not because they couldn't, but because they didn't want to. We were too busy with other things to investigate the rebuilding of a laboratory that had been decreased to rubble twice already.

And they weren't doing anything. At least from the outside, they seemed dormant. I remembered when Ren brought the news that BIG had been rebuilt. We'd been stunned. But no animals had been stolen. Not that we knew of. So why rebuild the research facility?

And Cornelia Hornshaw was still, as far as we knew, lost in the Decoy Forest. Without their CEO, what was BIG up to?

These thoughts and more whispered through my mind as I stalked the forest that night. Certainly, Hornshaw could not be behind this...She had conceded to the greater good. We were in this together, against Catastrophe.

Catastrophe. I wouldn't put this past him.

But one thing I did know--BIG had a fancy for finding Powers. And their returned presence remained a mystery--one that must be solved, sooner or later. If I wanted to find the Power of Hoof, investigating the lab might hold a lead.

The forest was silent. Rocks loomed around me as I padded noiselessly through the trees. I heard owls and mice rustling above and below, but didn't stop. The thing I was looking for HAD to be around here somewhere.

I'm not lost. Only...misplaced!

I searched for the moon through the leafless trees. Come on Nesbit! You're a member of the Mapmakers' Association! Get a grip!

I shook my head and inhaled, and was startled when a new scent filled my nostrils. Cocking my ears, I thought I heard the sound of a creature much larger than me. A voice? Footsteps? Breathing? The wind obscured it. Maybe I imagined it all.

But I was lost, no doubt about that. And I was curious, anyway. Maybe whatever was out there could help me figure out where in Kyngdom I was...I picked my way towards the sound.

Dusk stared at the container and said, "What is in this thing anyway?" Timber harshly replied, "Don't open it! I was under strict orders to not open it. Just keep it with you until I come back." Then Timber's ears pricked up and he looked around. His green eyes scanned the darkness and he was on his feet in a heartbeat. "The forest has ears," he said. "You should go."

Dusk had to prevent from rolling his eyes. "It's a FOREST. There's always going to be that oh so scary rustling that turns out to be a rabbit or the wind." "It's big enough to be an enemy," said Timber. "You want to risk being caught by B.I.G? Just go." Dusk sighed. Now that the intense 'you're going to be a hero' moment was over, he realized so much of this conspiring against B.I.G. thing was going to Timber's head.

"Ok fine. But you will see me in the morn-" And... Timber was gone. Dusk picked up the container begrudgingly and went off into the night back home.

All was peaceful except for the hooting of owls and the wind. Except... Dusk heard a movement behind him. What if... what if it was something dangerous? Dusk thought, and he started to be scared. He turned around and said, "W-who's there?"

(Also, yes, Dusk still has the container in his mouth, he just forgot about it when he heard the movement. Also, I'm new here, and this is my first RP thread, so thank you for joining, Hazel!)

Yay, in that case, welcome! Here's a link to the ultimate Kyngdom guide, if you ever want/need any extra info!

Nesbit~

"W-who's there?"

The voice startles me, and I jump when I hear it. A shadow moves to my right, and suddenly, as I turn to look at it, I can make out the dark form of a wolf that I hadn't noticed before.

"Whoa!" I blink at the wolf, who looks just as startled as I am. Show no fear, I remind myself, heart beating fast as I recall the wolves I work with at FAFA. I stand in my most forthright position, lowering my head slightly to show respect to the larger canine. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you--I was just looking for something, and...I got lost." Honesty is the best policy...although as a mapmaker, the confession pains me.

Now that I know what to look for, the black wolf comes into focus. He's more than twice my size, with thick, shadowy fur, and he's holding a container in his mouth, which carries a strange scent.

I wonder if I can trust this wolf. I can't help but feel like I've interrupted something...But I won't leave without getting some help!

"Do you live around here? Might you be able to point me to Bleak Peak?"

(I read through the plot of Kyngdom and correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no information on the Bleak Peaks? If there is no info, can I add some about it? If there is information on the peaks, I'll make a new comment thats the same except it has a better depiction of the peaks)

Oh, it's a fox. Dusk thought. Foxes were generally known as tiny michevious pranksters in the Decoy Forest. They were never known as threats to the bigger and more powerful wolf packs of the  woods. Wow. Maybe this stuff is getting to MY head.

That was when he remembered the container. OH NO thought Dusk. A strange unnatural object like a blue plastic container could be of great interest to curious foxes. Why didn't I hide it? Why Why? Why didn't I do something about this important object I was told to protect?

The fox suddenly said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you--I was just looking for something, and... I got lost."

Dusk looked down at the fox. It did look petty and innocent. He sighed a deep breath. Just pretend this is something I have every day. Now just help it with what it needs and you can go home.  He tried to look casual looking, as if he went on midnight strolls without anyone every day for fun.

"Do you live around here? Might you be able to point to Bleak Peak?"

Bleak Peak? She must be joking. That is the one place that almost anyone would never dare to go.

I quickly let my container go and said, "I suppose you're not around here? Then let me tell you... Bleak Peak is extremely dangerous. Almost nobody has ever gone up there and survived. You're asking for a death wish to go there."

Oh, Bleak Peak is BIG's base. Well, technically my description can still fit, so...

And the base is ok. Higher up it got more dangerous over time as the Power creatures destroyed it, is how I'm picturing it. If you're going for the base, well Dusk the wolf doesn't know that... But if anything is still wrong, pls respond :)

I trotted through the Decoy Forest, looking around for the entrance. The entrance for the Power of Hoof. It was not like I wanted the Power for myself. I was partly responsible for the protection of this Power.

I didn't do much, only turning certain animals away, like wolves and humans and pretty much every animal except the ones that have the Oath. Oh, and fighting them when they were stubborn enough. The ones that have the Oath are hooved animals, like horses and deer. But the ones most important for the responsiblity was my kind. Reindeer.

A long time ago, we were the only protectors of the Power, but we gradually accepted other animals. Now we all help, and if one betrays the location, we punish them greatly. Our Power has never been stolen before, but I still consider it an important job.

Ilook around. That's strange. Scout, a young deer, should have been out here right now. And the atmosphere feels... strange. Suddenly the whole group of protectors came out of the darkness of the forest. "Silver," a brown reindeer said. "the Power... It's gone."

I felt like the whole forest was crashing around my ears. Our Power, the one we had been protecting in the forest for years... was gone? I drooped my head. How could this happen? Our work was all for a waste? Just like that...NO. I jerked up my head. No, not just like that. I'm not giving up without a fight. "I'm going to find it." I said, determined. I trotted away as fast as I could. My hooves felt like wings. I was going to find that Power if that's the last thing I do.

oh man i really messed up on this comment. Now i realize I should have read the history first. That was an oopsie on my part. Now I wish this was deleted.

Don't worry, I'll find a different thing to do with my character.

Sorry for writing without looking at the story everybody!

Hmm... my newest charrie Kirah hasn't done anything yet, could I join?

Kirah~

For the time being, I have no mission and no meetings to attend, and hence, nothing to do. Someone was annoyed with my pacing and suggested I go 'patrol a forest or something'. So that's exactly what I decided to do. I put on a jacket and mask my face under the hood, and I arm myself with two pistols, quarterstaffs, a small knife and a few smoke grenades before flying low over the branches of a forest.

Suddenly, I hear a voice- a nervous, quavering sound. "Who's there?" Intruiged and alert, I land soundlessly in a branch close to him and fold my wings into my body. When I get a closer look, I see that it's a wolf... and he's carrying a glowing object in his mouth.

All of my instincts are flashing red lights. So many things could go wrong with this situation. A fox emerges. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I was just looking for something and I... got lost." I snort to myself. A likely story.

"Do you live around here? Could you point me to Bleak Peek?" the fox asks politely.

Ha! This story is too easy to piece together- the fox wants to steal the item and bring it to BIG HQ. I'll have to confiscate it and bring it back to the Resistance, whatever it is. I jump down from my branch, unfurling my wings and pointing a pistol at each of them. I keep my face towards the ground, so they won't be able to see me.

"Alright," I say loudly, in my most demmanding voice, "What's that?" I jerk my pistol towards the glowing item the wolf has. His eyes widen. "What sides are you on? I'm not afraid to shoot."

Sorry about her, she's suspicious of everything always and pretends to be cold.

Hello there! Before I write Dusk the wolf's response, do you mind telling me what Kirah looks like? It would help me a lot in regards to what Dusk the wolf sees.

Sure thing!

Kirah is a homo avian, meaning she's a human with wings. Her wings are large, grey, and angelic. She's skinny, average height for her age (17), and raggedy. She has dark brown skin and eyes and poofy black curls.

Thank you for the description! It's gonna be fun writing this...

Dusk the wolf

Great, Dusk first thought. I'm got an important mission, and now I'm here with a crazy fox in the middle of the night. Well, at least it hasn't paid any attention to the container. It would be hard making up an excuse to why a wolf would be carrying around a blue plastic container all over the woods.

The fox looked like it was about to say something (after my response to Bleak Peak) when the human jumped out of the bushes like a maniac (in Dusk the wolf's eyes). WHAT THE- a human?

Oh no this is bad. Really bad. Throughout the forest, humans didn't exactly have a great reputation, what with hunting and destroying their homes. However, Timber said he would work with some humans. This one looked strange though. She looked like she was caked in mud, looking more brown than the usual snow white skin humans have. Her fur, which for some reason likes to only grow a lot on top of people's heads, had a weird circly pattern to them. And- SINCE WHEN DO HUMANS HAVE WINGS? Maybe they hide them or something. And she had a gun. Well, thats not a good sign. Not. At. All.

Right then, she said firmly, "Alright. What's that?" And she pointed the gun right at the container I was supposed to protect. "What sides are you on? I'm not afraid to shoot."

Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no. I panicked. What do I do with this situation? If only I had put the item somewhere. This was bad. Maybe Timber wasn't overreacting too much. I lived a normal life until I got this item. Now in a matter of minutes, this happened.

I tried to think of something to say to the response. I started with what to say to the sides question. If she were on our side, she could help greatly. If not... it might be over for me. I couldn't think of something witty, so I went with the honest truth. This is gonna be a bad idea though.

"I am... not part of BIG or Catastrophe's side. And..."

Great. Now what to say about the box? going with the truth would be dumb. She'd instantly be suspicious. Then I came up with an idea.

"A friend just gave this box to me. It was a present. I... don't know what to do with it yet though." That was true enough. But I really hope it worked because I might be coming home with bullets on my tail.

Nesbit~

My fur bristles at the sudden appearance of the human. I'm not sure what to focus on more--her gun, her hostility, or the fact that she can understand us.

Her glare burns into both of us. Where did she come from? How does she have wings? My brain fires up hyperactively, and I sift through known accounts of winged humans. Connie A, Resistance member. Vol. Aviance. The infamous Shadow of Everywhere. All Resistance members.

I suppress a snarl. Chances are good that this human is a member of the Resistance as well, and anyone who knows me knows that I really. Don't. Like. The Resistance.

The wolf stammers for a response, affronted and fearful. His reaction isn't typical of an agent or soldier. He sounds genuinely concerned, which suggests he is not on anyone's side, and he probably has little experience dealing with humans. He must be an innocent bystander. Although. I wonder what's important about the box.

"Listen," I growl, thrusting my head up high and taking a step towards the human, stepping between her and the wolf. Her head is low, and I can't make out the details of her features. Speaking to a human feels strange. "It's highly suspicious to see a human wandering the woods at this hour. What right do you have to impose on our conversation? Who are you with? Why the gun?"

I don't reveal the fact that I'm with FAFA--yet. Doing so could be dangerous, especially if this homo avian is with the enemy.

Now Soren has the wonderful oppurtunity to answer to two people! Lets say that your response came after Dusk's response, as it would be awkward the other way around :p
