Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™

*Kyngdom Q+A

*Kyngdom Q+A

Welcome, Chatterboxers, to the new Kyngdom board! You'll notice a few things have changed. We hope these changes will make it easier for both longtime and new users to participate in the story.

First, we've asked Dr. Sheepshank from Cypher Labs to comb through all the threads and put together a summary and history of the Kyngdom story so far. You’ll see that in the "Story So Far." He'll continue adding to it as the story grows.

Second, we've reduced the number of active threads. The only active threads will be the ones you see on the main page. These threads (many of which are inspired by your ideas!) will help us keep the story organized.

Third, to keep the story manageable, you will no longer be able to start your own new threads on the main page. A smaller number of threads will be easier for everyone to digest, and it will be more obvious where the action is happening, and what the action is. You can still create role-play (RP) threads on the Kyngdom RP Board

Don’t worry! Your old threads are not gone. You can still read them in the Kyngdom Archive, but you will no longer be able to comment on them.

We hope you like the changes. If you have any suggestions for new threads, new groups you want to form, or general questions for us, feel free to comment below.

We've had an exciting few months building and growing Kyngdom. We love all the ideas you are bringing to this adventure. Have fun, and happy writing!

Kyngdom is pretty much dead, it started to die when Cricket no longer gave it a section in it's physical magazine. The original Kyngdomers grew older and the lack of a decent number of new Kyngdomers left it desolate, with a shattered story and characters frozen in place for lack of their creators. I'm sorry, but there isn't much left here.

I wouldn't say that's true. There's still a lot of people here, things just don't get posted as often. But it's not dead, and anyways, excerpts from Kyngdom are in the mag still so if Kyngdom is dead, that's not why.

And anyways, just saying things like "Kyngdom is dead!" isn't going to help keep it alive.

If anyone wants to join Night/Spirit (what should I call you?) and I's RP, you're welcome to! We're on the 'The dice clattered...' thread.

The summary is:

Silverwhisker (my charrie, a lynx) met Goldenfeather (Spirit's charrie, a phoenix-dragon) in Paralia. They teamed up and flew across the ocean to the Labyrinth Lands, where they hoped to find whatever was left of the Labyrinth. Before they got there, however, they met Ghost, a shapeshifter (also Spirit's). Ghost and Silver started talking, and, feeling hurt/left out, Golden ran away. By the time the other two realised, Golden had been captured by Catastrophe's people. They attempted a rescue mission, but Golden was already dead. Or so they thought. They set her afloat on a raft, where she was found by the Resistance and recruited. She thought Silver and Ghost had abandoned her, thinking her too weak.

Ghost and Silver continued to the Labyrinth, where they found out that Golden wasn't actually dead, and that she'd gone to the Drifter Outpost. Currently they're trying to find her again, and they're a little ways off from the Outpost.

So, yeah, if anyone has a charrie they want to bring in, maybe as a Resistance worker or someone living in the mesa in that area, we'd love to have you!

Actually I have a couple of Resistance charries I might use.

@Night/Spirit, is this accurate? Also, should we start a new thread for this story?

hmm !! it's been so long ahh.

I should think that this is accurate! a new thread would be preferable, hehe.

@Admins/Editors - What is the Cypher and how does one use it? Is it a device, or a code, or what?

The Cypher page of Kyngdom here describes a code system.
Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a dot placed left, center, or
right in a cell/pen, which is distinguished from other cells by the unique
position of its two, three, or four boundary lines within a nine-cell grid
(like tic tac toe). You can find the Cypher page here:

@Admins -

How technologically advanced is Kyngdom? I've been looking through old roleplays and people have ATVs and motorcycles and guns but I've also seen stuff with swords and dungeons and whatnot.

One of the nice things about this world is that pretty much any type of technology you can think of might exist because it may be powered by magic or science or even appear to be one thing but actually be another. Kyngdom began to have vehicles and weapons like the modern era as more CBers wrote, but there are a few notable gaps—I don't remember much computer technology, for instance, or phones. I'd suggest you decide on a technology level that you're interested in and then embroider around those edges. --admin

Hey Scuttles! The Admins mostly answered your questions but I thought I'd add a little more myself. The Cypher is, in-canon, a machine that can translate animal speech into human speech and vice versa. It was also a code used to translate hidden messages that used to appear in the mag.

Technically, Kyngdom is in the modern era. However, different areas and factions tend to use different levels of technology. The Resistance and Catastrophe are very modern in militant technology, as are the Sanukans. Some of the more rural and woods areas seem more medieval/outdated. It depends on the local culture and access to resources, probably.

One of the many questions I have been dying to ask (OOTMQIHBDTA):

Does Kyngdom have a fixed currency system? I don't see a lot of money circulation in the old RP's, and the ones that do don't offer a lot of explanation. (Like Sybill's RP with the hope diamond.) As far as that goes, do people pay in materials? As in: 'four gold' or 'nine silver'? It isn't a very important question, but I'd still like some help please...

From what I can tell, there seemed to be different coins ranked by value. I know for a fact there were platinum coins, gold coins, and silver coins. I think there were bronze ones too? Platinum coins were worth the most money, then it went in descending order. I think some different cultures do have different forms of payment, but the coins seemed to be pretty universal.

Thanks Sybill! That helped a lot, haha. Are the platinum coins made of actual platinum? Just curious...

No idea, but I'm assuming yes.

Where did my RP thread go? That is the question. I posted it today and just this evening I worte a comment to explain something. Later, I'm going to check up on my RP and, (gasp!) it's gone! Not there anymore! This makes me sad. :| Where did it go?!

FrownCry

Look on a back page. That's a chatterbox glitch. If you submit another comment on the thread it should come back to the front.

So the fourth fragment thread is on the Kyngdom homepage, but can I get the links to the other three? I'd like to make my own full map since the ones on the fourth fragment thread are kinda low quality after being uploaded to cricket. Thanks!
