Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Day 0This pe

Day 0

This person might consider themselves to be an ordinary person, but today the life they have always lived might take a turn for the extraordinary. On May 15, a day like any other, this person picks up the mail. There are the usual ads, a letter from a family member, and- what's this? A letter addressed to the person but with no return address? Curious, this person thinks. Tearing open the envelope, the person reads the letter.

Dear Reader,

If you have received this letter, you have been invited to the greatest ski lodge party ever to occur. We would be very pleased if you would attend. We shall begin on July 15, giving you two months to RSVP. We shall be very sad if you cannot attend. Come, come! Join in our celebration. We have but a few rules:

- In the past, a couple of murderers have seemed to sneak into the lodge and murdered everyone. If you're a murderer, stay away, unless your name is Melody, Red, or BHR.

- It's all fun and games here. No matter what happens, everything shall be silly and fun.

- If you have no idea what I'm going on about, you can read the rules to any of the past ski lodge adventures (the top comment on Pudding's Place should be one). If you do, ignore this and keep reading.

- A new day is usually posted in the morning by me. Every day, a new installment in the story occurs.

- You're very welcome to write your point of view of the day (why most people don't is a mystery to me!) but please wait for me to put the day up first.

- Logic sometimes gets tossed out the window. Nobody needs that stuff!

- I do not pick who lives and dies- my immortal companion, the Sugarbowl, carries your names and I randomly draw them out.

- If you ask me to put a really long, narcissistic, name into the Sugarbowl (*cough cough Melody cough cough*)- Excuse me, I seem to have come down with a bit of a cold. As I was saying- if you do ask me to put such a long name in, I will ignore you and probably tease you about it for the rest of your life. Don't think I won't.

- I tend to make fun of people a lot (*cough cough Melody cough cough*). My goodness, that really is a very persistent cold! Please don't take it personally. Also, I am sure I will mess up someone's gender. Don't take that personally either. I botch personalities and tend to make a general mess of things. Moral of the story: Don't take anything here personally. If I mess with you, it means I like you.

- What a hypocrite- "but a few rules", my foot.

- I always feel like this section is hard to write. Eh, if you don't get things, read another rule page, or ask me questions.

We look forward to your participation. Please come join the show.

-The Omnipotent Narrator

The Sugarbowl is waking up... It is time to choose your own adventure. Will you come join?

Two minutes after the head of the ski lodge sends the letter to John F.Q., a small raven smeared with blue ink lands on the windowsill quothing "Nevermore" in an ominous voice, and drops this letter:

My Dear The Omnipotent Narrator, I would love to come to your ski lodge. Sorry if this letter is at all late, my raven has a habit of jumping through time vortexi (my own plural for vortex), and this letter could arrive a hundred years late.... What with cancelling all of my previously-unknown-or-nonexistant arrangements and packing all my things (quill pens, parchment paper, and my bunny who despite any rumours you may have heard, is NOT a vicious pink-carrot-eating creature), as well as making sure I have enough nevermores for my raven (he loves to quoth them), I barely found enough time to put pen to paper and write to this dubiously mysterious Omnipotent Narrator that you seem to be.

Sincerely, John F.Q. (Otherwise known as the little man in blue who pops up randomly asking for mushrooms, or Mr. FeatherQuill to you...)

QUESTION. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED BY NOW THAT I HAVE A LOT OF THEM.

Are actual users that are playing the game going to be the murderer or not? 'Cause if so that'd be SO cool.

Um, no. We're not actually going to be murdered. It's just part of the game. We get "murdered" in the game, but not for real. (Sorry if it sounded rude because of italics, just wanted to make my point.)

Wait, we're not?

*look of horror*

Oops... Sorry, guys!

As for me- I am in!

No that's not what I meant. I meant is a user that is playing the game going to be the in-game murderer, or is the murderer going to be just a random person controlled by T.O.N.? I guess either way it would be controlled by mister omnipotent narrator, but will it be someone who's actually playing the game or is it just a random guy that's not actually a CB user?

Sorry if that was confusing, I have a way of phrasing things that really baffles people sometimes.

I'm pretty sure it will be a CBer who signs up for the game before it begins, but I'll let T.O.N. tell you for sure. Whether you sign up or not, the ski lodge mysteries are great fun to read!

Hmm, would it be best if I explained how the murderer is chosen?

A few days before the game begins, I write everyone's names on slips of paper and place the slips in the Sugarbowl. On Day 2, I pull the first slip out and that person is now the murderer. (This is why I ask that people don't ask for anything but their CB names to go in so the slips don't get really long and easily picked.) The player who is the murderer will have no more idea that they are the murderer than anyone else, to make it safe. If I put in a random character, it would be pretty obvious that they're the murderer, right?

There are a couple of people who aren't CB users who appear in the story, but... well, you'll see what's up with them later.

That was a pretty good explanation but I'm still confused.

I guess I'll just wait for it to start :P

It's ok, I haven't played before either (and agh once again didn't mean to be rude or anything).

But of course! In the past, Red, Melody, and BHR have been murderers. Who will be the murderer this time? Even I don't know yet. The murderer is simply the very first person to be drawn out of the Sugarbowl.
