Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Poetry Contest

Poetry Contest

Well, we haven't had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!

The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.

The first theme will be... *dramatic drumroll*

Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by... Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?

I hope to see your poems soon!

Gray and misty

Like snow-filled clouds,

Ready to open their floodgates

And pour out crystallized hope;

With one difference.

I am not like snow clouds

In just a single way-

I am filled with despair

Instead of hope.

The tips of my fingers

Drifting away, like

Fog when the sun rises,

But without the hope

Of a new day.

I am a fading soul,

Flying away

As if I never existed.

To whoever (whomever?) keeps posting "NEW PROMPT": don't worry, I've noticed that people tend to post their entries closer to the judging date- not sure why.

I think that's because people need time to come up with the right poem, like me for example. I don't want to rush my own creativity.

Faded

faded

like the memory of the day we met

in preschool

faded

like the chocolate ice-cream stain

on my favorite shirt.

Faded

like the blue flowers on your mother's

apron that she wears while calling you into dinner

faded

like the pink paint on the stone bench

where we sat when our childhood faded into adolscence

adolescence faded into adulthood

faded

like my wedding dress

from our wedding

faded

like our old memories which dont remember much

faded

like your grave

where i slap another faded heart sticker

to remind you, my faded freind

that you are still loved.

A faded love.

Wilted Away-

I remember

the bright colors

The pink

the purple

the orange

the red

I remember

the vibrant leaves

olive green

glossy

bright

I remember

the colorful

realm

of flowers

I remember

the colors

the vibrant

colors

shining

twisting

changing

shifting

I remember

the attentive

flowers

the leaves

bouncing

as they nodded

their heads

but now

the garden

no longer

exists

just fields

of endless

black

of the color

I once saw

there is no more

of the nodding heads

and the bouncing leaves

and the vibrant colors

that listened to me

there

is

no

more.

I wish they could still be here

I wish this still could be my home

but here

here

can no longer

be

my home

endless days

of wandering

i will never

find

a place

as colorful

as the secret

garden

i once

resided

in

i will never find

a place

as beautiful

as shining

as vibrant

as that garden

that listened

to my endless

words

my wings

no longer

contain color

the blackness

has swallowed

them

the vibrant colors

no longer

exist

nowhere else

will there be

another

secret

garden.

I can feel my soul

withering

away

as the last remnants

the last pieces

of broken

color

fade

away

into

the

dark

my soul goes with them

i can feel the broken pieces

flying

away

into the dark

there will never be a secret garden

as beautiful

as the one

i saw

and i

i will remember it

forever.

I feel like there's something missing from this... But I can't find it and the deadline keeps getting closer, so I'll just post it.

Faded

i am

the unknown soldier, and

i am

faded.

i am

a ghost,

haunting marble,

hunting stone,

rifle cocked,

forever aimless,

no-one left

to shoot,

no one left

to die,

i am

faded

i am

immortalized,

gold and marble

and preserved

memories, yet

i am

faded.

my tomb is

kingly, regal, and

our proudest leaders

have paid me

their respects.

i am

the unknown soldier,

buried deep

in stone, and

i am

so faded,

more than you will ever

believe,

i am

so faded,

faded,

dust.

i am

only a symbol,

no person at all,

this unknown soldier

is a thousand people,

a thousand

dead unknowns,

but

not

me.

my name

is known,

i am

Michael

Joseph

Blassie, and

i am

known, yet

i've faded

all the same,

faded

behind marble,

and flowers,

and "here rests

in honored glory",

faded

behind salutes

and bowed heads

and an honor guard

not here to honor,

faded

behind a marble façade,

behind wreaths

laid by the presidents,

behind tears and

words of bravery,

faded

behind the unknown.

and yet,

i am

known, because

i am

Michael

Joseph

Blassie, and

i am

both known

and faded

at once.
