Your hands are perfect.

I told you this today and you

Looked at me and said,

No they’re not.

Nobody’s hands are perfect.

Your hands are pretty good,

Though.

No, I thought.

Your hands are perfect

The way your long fingers

Bend, the angles between the

Bones

Beautiful curves,

Skinny but strong

Beauty spots accentuating the

Tan of your skin,

Your bony wrists and the

Way they twist,

Fingers stretching

Lengthening --

They really are so long --

Big hands, so when I

Hold them they

Cover my own smaller ones,

A little,

Warm and soft but

Calloused

The pads of your fingers my

Favorite resting spot on a cold day

Or any day, really.

Your jacket sleeves

Too long for my arms

Fall perfectly to the

Swell where your

Wrist meets the

Curve of your thumb,

Sometimes stretching a little over

Your bone, leaving your pulse point

Flush against mine

Skin on skin

Our fingers intertwined

Playing with my fingertips

You smile

And I smile,

Because your hands are my

Favorite thing

To hold, to gaze at

As much as I can

Doing anything they’re beautiful,

Writing

Your skilled left hand in fluid motion

Going anywhere, the movement captures my

Gaze and I

Linger there,

Just your hands and me

Your crazy nails a little

Broken,

Ripped at the edges

perfectly imperfect,

Just like you.

And I love them

Every day

Moving and

Being their way but

Always finding mine,

To have and to hold and

To keep warm

On rainy days

Inside,

Beneath a blanket

Folded around mine,

And I smile

Fondly

Lovingly

And rub the side of your

Finger with my

Thumb,

Just enjoying

My favorite feeling in the world so far

Because,

In my eyes,

And my grasp

No matter what you say

Your hands are perfect.

BEHOLD MY CRINGE LOVE POETRY!!

I Can't Wait

Hazel eyes

Hidden under glasses

Tall

Black hair

Sweet smile

Dark skin

You haven't come

Across the street

For months now

I'm worried

I've seen your brother twice this week

And I wonder where you are.

I look at the courtyard every day

Wondering if I'll see you

Playing Yu-Gi-Oh with the old friend group

Or chasing your brother

Or looking for me

I've been waiting

For so long

To see your face

But sometimes I wonder

If you've found someone else

Someone better than me

Someone who you don't have to sneak

Across school campus to find.

And I wonder

If you've forgotten about me.

I wrote a poem using song lyrics! The lyrics (italics) are from “Hallelujah” by Pentatonix; “With or Without You” by U2; “Dust”, a hymn; “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by Casting Crowns; and “Blackbird” by the Beatles.

I’ve been a blackbird flying in the dead of night

Wings flapping to the beat of my heart

I’m not somebody who’s seen the light

Only someone looking for a fresh new start

All I ever learned from love was how to shoot someone who outdrew ya

And it’s not a cry that you hear at night

It’s not somebody who’s seen the light

It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

For I can’t live, with or without you,

I’m dead any way I try.

But still I try, like the blackbird flew

Forever on, in my mind’s eye.

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you
With or without you

You made beautiful things out of the dust.

You made beautiful things out of us,

But it was not enough, even with the trust

That you broke, so treasonous

You make beautiful things

You make beautiful things out of the dust

You make beautiful things

You make beautiful things out of us

Now I must take these broken wings and learn to fly

Take these weeping eyes and learn to see

Past the pain, past the sigh

To the voice, the chime, the beat of me

The wrong shall fail, the right prevail

...With peace on earth, good will to men

The world revolved from night to day

A voice, a chime, a chant sublime

This is the song of my soul

All my life, just waiting for this new start

To be free, to be full,

To follow the beat of my pulsing heart.

Blackbird flying in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life,

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Wow. That was really, really good, Starseeker! I love how it was all mixed together intertwining with the lyrics. Cool idea!

Thank you! It all started because I was up until 1 am watching chick flicks with Black Alley. XD They used "Blackbird" in one of the movies, and it refused to leave my head. When that happens, I know it's important. Usually it's weird things, like a flash of a particular shade of green or the word "blancmange". This time, though, it was the whole song, circling around. So I did what I do-- I turned it into a poem. :)

ADMINS: I know this contains a name, but is there a way I can still submit it since it's not the actual name of the person, just a made up one? Can that work? If not, Just remove the last name, I guess. <3

As long as you say it's a made-up name, I'll allow it.

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

“i promised

that if we

get married

then i will

read the list

of reasons

that zava

can never happen

aloud

so everyone

will know”

Oh, I already

Made that plan

And I’m going to

Thank GraceAnn

For annoying me into

Loving you

And there’s a chance,

Actually

Did you know that

30% of people marry their

Middle school sweetheart,

Or their

First love

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

“i miss you”

“I MISS YOU”

“I miss you”

I miss you too

All the time,

I can’t go

A day without seeing you

Thinking of you

Mentioning you at least

Twice in

Conversation

You’re lucky I

Miss you so much

Or you’d just be alone all the time

Just kidding

I know I’m the lucky one

I love you,

Zach Fryer

“right now is the perfect time to watch movies inside with many blankets but school and chorus and stuff and sadness”

I always just wanna

Watch movies

My hand in yours,

I could fall asleep

To the sound of your breathing

Mmmm.

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

Before I would write about

Unrequited love or

Things that happened to

Other people

But now I write about

You,

You’re everything

Poems and songs

It’s unstoppable, you

Inspire me.

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

“Zach romantically slow danced with me so yeah”

So

Yeah

You make my laugh

And it’s true, I would have so

I should probably get on that,

Shouldn’t I?

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

You’re perfect

It’s true, you just are

Your eyes, beautiful, green

Long lashes and

Beauty spots accenting that

Perfect skin —

I love being allowed to stare,

To touch your hair

Gosh, it’s weird but

I could stare at you all day

And your hands

Your hands,

I love your hands

My favorite

Resting place on a cold day,

Or any day,

Really.

I’d like to spend hours just

Staring at your hands,

Exploring your

Long fingers and your

Bony wrists

Your jacket sleeves fall

Perfectly above your

Wrist bones,

But they’re

Too big for me

Falling past my hands

Your jacket that I’m

Always wearing,

Ridiculously and you

Asked me why I like it so much

I told you it was because

It was so soft

But if we’re being honest, I love it because

It smells like you

And it feels like

Your arms around me even when they’re

Not there,

And if I close my eyes I’m

Hugging you.

I love you,

Zach Fryer

Because

Yay, I feel special

“Well, you are.

At least to me.”

Thank you.

“I mean it.”

Because

“Good night, love you.”

Because

“Thanks for dancing with me,”

Because

You told me that

If I broke up with you

You would cry,

“And I never cry.”

I’ve said it

So many times

But

I would never

Ever

Break up with

You

Because you’re everything,

“I need you,”

I need you too

More than words,

More than music

More than —

To quote Into the Woods —

More than riches

More than the moon

More than life

And

You’re my favorite person,

So just

Stay here, okay?

“and all i want to

do

is

be with you”

Me too,

Goodness, me too

I don’t know how to

Say it right,

And I couldn’t

Say it to you today

Though I tried, but

Really I just

Panicked

Exploded inside,

All day I couldn’t

Think about anything else,

I kept trying to

Ignore it but I

Couldn’t and

When I came back I could tell you looked so

Nervous,

Like when you asked me to dance,

All red and your

Hands in your pockets

Talking in that low,

Flat voice

Shaking your head back and

Forth

And you were

Terrified

Like I was

But

But

“and i was just

talking about you

and i felt

really happy

for some reason”

I feel happy

Whenever I

Talk about you,

I thank the earth for

None of that crazy drama

Everyone else has

Just

It’s dramatic how much I

Want to bring you up

And then

And then

And then,

The words that

Stopped my heart

I read them

Over and over and over,

I still can’t stop

I guess I was sleeping and

Now I’m awake.

Because

Because,

“and i realized

it's because

i love you

and maybe that's crazy

but i don't care.”

Oh, love

It’s not crazy

It’s not crazy at all

Well, it is but it’s

almost too crazy to

Understand,

It’s perfect

Just like you

It’s exactly what I

Needed to hear

What I needed you to

Say,

Because I don’t care either.

I don’t care

That everyone stares

I don’t care

That people talk about it

Behind our backs

I don’t care

That the teachers patrol us

All the time

I don’t care

That some of my

Friends don’t like you

That we might not go to the same school

That I can’t say your name without everybody “ooooh”-ing

Because you’re my long-legged, too tall, gangly-limbed dark-haired beauty-spotted tan-skinned long-fingered green-eyed laughing smiling arguing arm-around-me hand-in-mine so smart crazy-memory-Thing doge-shirt-wearing music nerd insane mathematician drummer wild-haired beautiful boy

MY beautiful boy

And I do care — I care so much it

Hurts to breathe,

I care so much that you

Talk about me to your friends

That you made a National Zava Day

That every song I hear is about you

That you started getting up early in the mornings just to fix your hair even though you love to sleep

That I used to ship obsessively but now I don’t, because the only romance I care about is

Ours

That you said it,

So honestly

Down in words forever

I can never

Forget what I

Felt when I read that,

Then

Hyperventilating on the bus until I

Randomly told Kaitlin because I

Needed to tell someone,

Those crazy three words you said

Those three words I just I needed to hear

To find my place in the world,

To know I belonged

Or

If only to

Get up the courage

To say

I love you too

I love you,

Zach Fryer.

I've been writing a lot of poetry recently, but a lot of it is sort of... personal. Here's something I wrote about my experience visiting the Western Wall. I'd love to have some feedback on it since it's in a bit of a new style for me.

Wow, Abigail! I love this, I don't really have words to describe the feeling it gives me but it's really meaningful, and it's almost spiritual too. I don't know.

*Further, more precise feedback from four days later when I'm feeling more connected to the earth: I noticed that some of it has kind of a rythmic feel to it, while other parts are more abrupt and plain. I still really like it, though.
