Song Lyrics, take

Song Lyrics, take three: Because I am too lazy to try to resurrect the old one. So sue me.

Basically self explanatory, I would imagine. You post lyrics... to songs... Mainly I use these threads to (try) to rid myself of Ear Worms.

You're so nice...
You're not good,
You're not bad,
You're just nice.
I'm not good,
I'm not nice,
I'm just right.
I'm the Witch.
You're the world.

I'm the hitch.
I'm what no one believes,
I'm the Witch.
You're all liars and theives,
Like his father,
Like his son will be, too--
Oh, why bother?
You'll just do what you do.

It's the last midnight,
So, goodbye all.
Coming at you fast, midight-
Soon you'll see the sky fall.

I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid

To take a stand, to take a stand

Everybody, Everybody

Come take my hand, come take my hand

We'll walk this road together

Through the storm

Whatever weather,

Cold or warm

Just let you know that

You're not alone

Hola if you feel like

you've been down the same road.

@Shawn: My counselor, Rob, sang that during the boat race in my summer camp.  The other team sang a song, too.  Though it was mean, they sang 'We will, we will, sink you, smash you, crush you, mush you' etc.  And they were the team that lost.  I found that slightly amusing.

Anyway, a song...

Worthy friends, we resume

With Jafar in his room

The adviser to Sultan Hamed

Watch him gloat by the hour

As visions of power

Race around in his evil head

Though he's charming and slick

he's unspeakably sick

This despicable parasite

What a villain

Boo!  Hiss!

Who would see through all this?

And through every Arabian night...

OK. So I just watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney version) and I fell in love with it-especially this song. Even though it's been stuck in my head ever since I watched the movie. (When I say sp. that means spoken. When I say su. that means sung. The names above the lines are, of course, the names of the characters.)

THE BELLS OF NOTRE DAME

Clopin su.

Morning in Paris,

The city awakes,

To the bells of Notre Dame.

The fisherman fishes,

The bakerman bakes,

To the bells of Notre Dame.

To the big bells as loud as the thunder,

To the little bells soft as a psalm,

And some say the soul of the city's the toll of

The bells...

The bells of Notre Dame.

Clopin sp.

Listen, it is beautiful, no? So many colors of sound, so many changing moods, for you know, they don't ring all by themselves. (Clopin's puppet voice sp.) They don't? (Clopin sp.) No, silly boy. Up there, high, high in the bell tower, lives the mysterious bell-ringer. Who is this creature? (Puppet voice sp.) Who? (Clopin sp.) What is he? (Puppet voice sp.) What? (Clopin sp.) How did he come to be there? (Puppet voice sp.) How? (Clopin sp.) Hush! *hits puppet with stick* And Clopin will tell you the tale. It is a tale of a man...and a monster.

Clopin su.

Dark was the night when our tale was begun,

Near the docks of Notre Dame.

Gypsy man 1 sp.: Shut it up, will you!

Gypsy man 2 sp.: We'll be spotted!

Gypsy woman sp.: Hush, little one.

(Baby cries)

Clopin su.

Four frightened gypsies slid silently under

The docks of Notre Dame.

Boatman sp.: Four guilders for safe passage to Paris.

Clopin su.

But a trap had been laid for the gypsies,

And they stared up in fear and alarm,

At a figure whose clutches were iron

As much as

The bells...

Gypsy man 1: Judge Claude Frollo...

Clopin su.

The bells of Notre Dame.

Frollo sp.

Take these gypsy vermin to the Palace of Justice.

Clopin su.

Judge Claude Frollo longed to purge

The world

Of vice and sin.

And he saw corruption everywhere

Except within...

Soldier sp. (to gypsy woman)

Hey! What're you hiding?

Frollo sp.

Stolen goods, no doubt. Take them from her.

Clopin sp.

She ran...

(There follows a crazy chase scene with Frollo on his horse and the gypsy woman running from him. At last, Frollo grabs the bundle from her and she slips and falls on the snowy steps, breaking her neck.)

Frollo sp.

A baby? *opens blankets* *gasps* *folds blankets again* A monster! *looks around* *sees well*

(Frollo goes over to dump the baby in the well and nearly does, but the Archdeacon shows up.)

Clopin sp.

"STOP!" cried the Archdeacon...

Archdeacon su.

*lifts woman* See there the innocent blood you have spilt,

On the steps,

Of Notre Dame.

Frollo sp.

I am guiltless-she ran, I pursued.

Archdeacon su.

Now you would add this child's blood to your guilt,

On the steps,

Of Notre Dame.

Frollo sp.

My conciensce is clear.

Archdeacon su.

You can lie to yourself and your minions,

You can claim that you haven't a qualm,

But you never can run from

Nor hide what you done from

The eyes...

The very eyes of Notre Dame!

(Frollo looks around at the statues around the cathedral, starting to become frightened.)

Clopin su.

And for the first time in his life

Of power and control,

Frollo felt a twinge of fear

For his immortal soul.

Frollo sp.

What must I do?

Archdeacon sp.

Take the child, and raise it as your own.

Frollo sp.

What?! I'm to be saddled with this, misshapen--?! *takes deep breath* Very well.

Archdeacon sp.

You'll take him? Where?

Frollo sp.

Anywhere...(Frollo su.) Just so long as he's kept away where no one else can see. (Frollo sp.) The bell tower, perhaps. And who knows? Our Lord works in mysterious ways...(Frollo su.) Even this foul creature may one day be of use, to me.

Clopin sp.

And Frollo took the child, and gave him a cruel name, a name that means half-formed...Quasimodo.

Clopin su.

Now here is a riddle,

To guess if you can,

Sing the bells of Notre Dame:

Who is the monster and who is the man?

Sing the bells, bells, bells, bells,

Bells, bells, bells, bells,

The bells of Notre Dame!

I just looked that song up on YouTube (for some reason, I never saw the movie) and I see why you fell in love with the song.  It's so beautiful!!  Thanks for posting this!

@Leaf: Thanks! You can watch the entire movie on YouTube if you look it up. It comes in parts, however. And make sure that when you're looking for the next part it was posted by the same person that posted the first part. Otherwise you get all mixed up. *realizes sentence is mixed-up and abandons subject* Anyway, I totally agree, it is a beautiful song, and I don't even do it justice. Clopin FTW!

Anyway...

It's an interesting thing, but the song was stuck in my head for about 2 and a half days--no joke!--but when I posted it here, it went away. I really should have posted the reprise, too, for it keeps showing up--it's not exactly stuck in my head, but it keeps showing up a little too often. So, with no further ado, I give you:

THE BELLS OF NOTRE DAME (REPRISE)

Now here is a riddle

To guess if you can,

Sing the bells of Notre Dame:

What makes a monster and what makes a man?

Sing the bells of Notre Dame!

Eleanor Rigby (by the Beatles)

Ah, look at all the lonely people!

Ah, look at all the lonely people!

Eleanor Rigby,

Picks up the rice in a church where a wedding has been,

Lives in a dream.

Waits at the window,

Wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door,

Who is it for?

All the lonely people,

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people,

Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie,

Writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear,

No one comes near.

Look at him working,

Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there,

What does he care?

All the lonely people,

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people,

Where do they all belong?

Eleanor Rigby,

Died in the church and was buried along with her name,

Nobody came.

Father McKenzie,

Wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave,

No one was saved.

All the lonely people,

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people,

Where do they all belong?

I have an arrangement of this with Joshua Bell playing violin and Frankie Moreno singing.  It's really beautiful.

Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Flashing lights against the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
Twenty-five or six to four
Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wond'ring how much I can take
Should I try to do some more
Twenty-five or six to four
(solo)
Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
Twenty-five or six to four

I want a girl who knows what's best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes

I want a girl with the right allocations
Who's fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's playing with her jewelry
She's putting up her hair
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

TRIXY! You're back?! Yay!!!

You haven't posted in... how many months? But we've all really missed you! Everyone will be so glad to see you! Everyone who was here when you were, anyway. Many have left, but many remain! And that looks weird. *shrugs* Still, welcome back! Just wait until everyone realizes you posted!

XANTHIAS:
What was she like? Your wife?

DIONYSOS:
Ah...
She was young, she was wild,
Ariadne...
She was shy, like a child,
Had this funny dimple when she smiled,
Lips as soft as petals,
Hair the color of the sun,

XANTHIAS:
I get it.

DIONYSOS:
And eyes that looked at me as if I were a god.
Which I am.

XANTHIAS:
Half.

DIONYSOS:
You steer.

XANTHIAS:
Tell me more.

DIONYSOS:
Being young, feeling odd,
I mean, when you're married to a god,
Mingling with the likes of
Zeus and Hera, Aphrodite and Apollo...

XANTHIAS:
Namedropper.

DIONYSOS:
So I gave her a crown
On the day we were wed.
"If you look like a goddess,
You'll feel like a goddess,"
I said.
Ariadne...

And the years filled with joy
And my heart filled with pride,
Just to know Ariadne was there at my side.
Then she died.
Being mortal, she died...

She was young, she was shy,
Ariadne...
She was young, as was I,
Surely, she was much too young to die.
So I flung her crown high into the sky,
In a rage,
With a cry:
"Ariadne!... Ariadne!..."

And its jewels broke free
And they never came down,
But they stayed there as stars
In the shape of a crown.
And they're there every night
As a sign of our love,
And it fills me with joy
And it fills me with pain.

It reminds me of how much
I miss her and want her
And wish every day she were here.

There are no stars in hell.
Just as well...

Ariadne... Ariadne... Ariadne...

Once upon a time
Or so the story's told
Everyone lives happily
As
the end unfolds
Forever sweet
And never ending
All I want is
to know why
Life is not a lullaby
Reality tells
A different
kind of tale
Everybody tries to win
But everyone fails
It's
never sweet
And never ending
It's all a lie, tell me why
It's
all a lie, the lullaby
It's all a lie, it's all a lie
Tell me why,
tell me why

Lullaby by Hypnogaja.  'Tis very happy, is it not?  So cheery...  /sarcasm  Anyway, I didn't write all that.  I was too lazy.  I just copied and pasted it, though I do know all the lyrics...  Just to let you know, though it doesn't particularly matter... *overuse of elipses*

Love Will Find A Way (From The Lion King 2)

Kiara (su.)

In a perfect world,

One we've never known,

We would never need

To face the world alone.

They can have the world,

We'll create our own.

I may not be brave, or strong, or smart

But somewhere in my secret heart

I know,

Love will find a way,

Anywhere I go,

I'm home,

If you are there beside me.

Like dark,

Turning into day,

Somehow we'll come through,

Now that I've found you,

Love will find a way.

Kovu (su.)

I was so afraid,

Now I realize,

Love is never wrong

And so

It never dies.

There's a perfect world,

Shining in your eyes,

Kovu&Kiara (su.)

And if only they

Could feel it too,

The happiness

I feel with you

They'd know,

Love will find a way,

Anywhere we go,

We're home,

If we are there together,

Like dark

Turning into day,

Somehow we'll come through,

Now that I've found you,

Love will find a way.

I know love will find a way.

Such a pretty song. :,-) One way I think it could have been better is instead of saying "Love is never wrong, and so, it never dies," they could have said, "and so it never lies," which is how I sing it to myself in private, but what do I know about songwriters and their mysterious ways? ;)
