Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Song Lyrics, take

Song Lyrics, take three: Because I am too lazy to try to resurrect the old one. So sue me.

Basically self explanatory, I would imagine. You post lyrics... to songs... Mainly I use these threads to (try) to rid myself of Ear Worms.

You're so nice...
You're not good,
You're not bad,
You're just nice.
I'm not good,
I'm not nice,
I'm just right.
I'm the Witch.
You're the world.

I'm the hitch.
I'm what no one believes,
I'm the Witch.
You're all liars and theives,
Like his father,
Like his son will be, too--
Oh, why bother?
You'll just do what you do.

It's the last midnight,
So, goodbye all.
Coming at you fast, midight-
Soon you'll see the sky fall.

OK, as you can probably tell, I am OBSESSED with Disney songs, partly because they rock, and partly because my little sister has been watching nothing but Disney classics for months, so...

Anyway, here is one called "Someone's Waiting for You" from the Rescuers, and will shortly be followed by "Cruella De Vil" from 101 Dalmations.

SOMEONE'S WAITING FOR YOU

Be brave, little one,

Make a wish for each sad little tear,

Hold your head up, though no one is near,

Someone's waiting for you.

Don't cry, little one,

There'll be a smile where a frown used to be,

You'll be part of the love that you see,

Someone's waiting for you.

Always keep a little prayer in your pocket,

And you're sure to see the light,

Soon there'll smiles and happiness,

And your little world will be bright.

Have faith, little one,

Till your hopes and your wishes come true,

You must try to be brave, little one,

Someone's waiting to love you.

CRUELLA DE VIL

Cruella De Vil,

Cruella De Vil,

If she doesn't scare you

No evil thing will.

To see her is to take a sudden-chill!

Cruella, Cruella,

She's like a spider waiting for the kill,

So look out for Cruella De Vil.

At first you think Cruella is a devil,

But after time has worn away the shock,

You come to realize,

You've seen her kind of eyes,

Watching you from underneath a rock!

This vampire bat,

This inhuman beast,

She oughta be locked up,

And never released,

The world was such a wholesome place until...

Cruella, Cruella De Vil.

Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't--
It isn't right,
Don't-- it isn't nice!

Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't walk on the grass,
Don't disturb the peace,
Don't skate on the ice.

Well, I say do,
I say--
Walk on the grass, it was meant to feel!
I say--
Sail!
Tilt at the windmill,
And if you fail, you fail!

Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't,
Everybody says don't get out of line.
When they say that, then
Lady that's a sign:
Nine times out of ten,
Lady, you are doing just fine!

Make just a ripple.
Come on be brave.
This time a ripple,
Next time a wave
Sometimes you have to start small,
Climbing the tiniest wall,
Maybe you're going to fall-
But it's better than not starting at all!

Everybody says no,
Everybody says stop.
Everybody says mustn't rock the boat,
Mustn't touch a thing!

Everybody says don't,
Everybody says wait,
Everybody says can't fight city hall,
Can't upset the cart,
Can't laugh at the king!

Well, I say try!
I say--
Laugh at the kings or they'll make you cry.
Lose your poise!
Fall if you have to,
But lady, make a noise!

Everybody says don't,
Everybody says can't,
Everybody says wait around for miracles,
That's the way the world is made!

I insist on
Miracles, if you do them,
Miracles-- nothing to them!
I say don't--
Don't be afraid!

So. Awesome.

((It's Everybody Says Don't from Anyone Can Whistle))

I still can't figure out why it flopped so spectacularly. It's one of the best plays I've listened to/read in quite a while. It's up there with Gypsy and Sunday and Into the Woods. :/

TNO, I've never heard of that musical, but the words to that song are so awesome! I'm totally looking it up. :)

You haven't heard of it because it ran for nine performances before closing, and other than a one-night GMHC benefit concert it hasn't really been revived since. It's a shame, because it's really quite brilliant.

That's too bad, I can't stand it when a musical closes so quickly! :[ It sounds really awesome.

Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel! (Forgive me if I already posted this.)

Hello, darkness my old friend,

I've come to talk with you again.

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains...

Within the sound

Of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

'Neath the halo of a street lamp

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light-

that split the night...

And touched the sound

Of silence.

And in the naked light I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more

People talking without speaking

People hearing without listening

People writing songs that voices never shared

And no one dared...

Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools!" said I, "you do not know

Silence like a cancer grows.

Hear my words that I might teach you,

Take my arms that I might reach you."

But my words like silent raindrops fell...

And echoed

In the wells

Of silence.

Then the people bowed and prayed

To the neon god they made

And the sign flashed out its warning

In the words that it was forming

And the sign said, "The words of the prophet are written on the subway walls

And tenement halls

And whispered in the sound of silence."

Home from Beauty and the Beast the Musical

Yes, I've made the choice,

For Papa I will stay,

But I don't deserve to lose my freedom in this way you,

Monster.

If you think that what you've done is right, well then,

You're a fool,

Think again.

Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid

Spoken:

Maybe he's right.  Maybe there is something the matter with me. I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.

Sung:

Look at this stuff,

Isn't it neat,

Wouldn't you think my collection's complete,

Wouldn't you think I'm the girl,

The girl who has everything,

Look at this trove,

Treasures untold,

How many wonders can one cavern hold,

Looking around here you'd think,

Sure she's got,

Everything,

I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty,

I've got whozits and whatzits galore,

You want thingamabobs?

I got twenty,

But who cares?

No big deal,

I want more,

Flippin' your fins you won't get too far,

Legs are required for jumpin', dancin',

Strolling along the,

What's that word again?

Street,

To Be Continued
