Taylor:

"Help! Help me please!" I screamed as a huge shape reared up behind me, 9 heads hissing. I ran backwards, keeping an eye on the horrific monster. My arm hit something, I could feel tiny needles pricking my neck. A pine tree. I realized. Trying to run and not lose sight of the...whatever-it-was wasn't easy, and I ended up tripping over a root. "Ow!" I feel heavily on my side as the 9 headed beast looked down on me, dripping poison that charred the grass. Shielding my face with my arm, I prepared to die. Suddenly, I heard a wooshing noise and a shadow of some giant bird flew between me and the monster, followed by a blinding flash of light. When I dared look again, the monster and the bird had both disappeared, leaving behind only a pile of dust and a brown feather, which I slowly reached for. An owl feather? I thought, just before i passed out.

Morning sunlight hit my face as I blinked and sat up in a bed. Where the heck was I? The last thing I remember was this awful dream.... Thats when I saw the feather laying on a table next to me. That dream was real. I gasped and threw off my covers, jumping out of bed. My head spun and I felt someone catch me just before I hit the ground. "Hey, chill." a voice chuckled. "You're not going anywhere yet." I turned around, looking into the intense green eyes of the cutest boy I had ever seen. "Um...hi." I said, my voice cracking. "Who are you?" He just smiled and helped me back into bed. "You'll be okay in a minute. Until then, just stay here, alright? We don't need your very pretty face to have a date with the floor." I must have stared at him a little too much, because he waved a hand in front of my eyes. "Hello? Are you ok?" I shook my head, then adjusted my pillow. "oh..yeah. yeah, I'm fine. But, er, where am I?" The boy grinned and pushed his auburn hair behind his ear. "Camp Half-Blood, of course. I'm Julian, son of Apollo. Who are you?" "um...I'm Taylor." I replied. "Daughter of....who knows? I should have guessed I was here. That would explain why the guy who kept trying to ask me out had hooves and horns." Julian smiled. "Well, it's been nice talking, but I have an appointment with the Hermes kids...skirmishing. See you around." He turned and walked out of the cabin, leaving me with a lot of confused feelings.

Sam—

Nell andI walked up to the gondola and bought a ticket. In a few minutes the gondolacame and we got in. I didn’t dare to look out the window.

“Nell?” Isqueaked. She came over looking as sick as I did. The ride was hard on both ofus. Finally we got out. “That was the most awful thing I had ever experienced.“How far is this from the cave?” I asked Nell.

“No idea…Hmmm… 50 miles. We have to get further in, the cave’s that way come on.” Wecrawled our way through rocks and bushes with bits of snow on them. We finallycame to a rock and I looked at Nell. “40… This is it. Now we wait.” I sat therefidgeting. How could I have been so stupid! Tray was going to die. I knew itbut this couldn’t happen. Suddenly a crackling came from the walkie-talkie.“He-he’s coming for you. Run. Forget me. I-I…” Tray’s voice was soft and slow. He’d hurt her and she was dying maybe already dead if we didn’t come soon. Myeyes welled up in tears. “Nell, I’m not turning around! I’m going to saveTray.” Nell nodded and we turned to go to the cave. As we got to the cave weknelt down trying to get a look inside. Nick was holding Tray’s neck with aknife on it and she was looking at the ground. “Your friends are here! Theycertainly are gullible.” He laughed a hideous laugh. “How dare you make me dothat! What do you want?” Tray screamed, her voice full of hate. “The relic.Give it to me!” Nick demanded. “No.” “Well, if that’s so.” I felt the weight ofsomeone’s body on me and I was wrenched up by my hair. A cold metal pressedonto my bare neck, almost breaking the chain of camp beads. I looked at Nell. She was being held by a sort of snake woman, just like me. “Now. May I have therelic?” Nick asked Tray again. “NO!” Tray spat. Before I knew what washappening, one of the snake women cut a long bloody gash in my arm. I gasped inpain. “LEAVE HER ALONE! THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!” Tray shouted at thetop of her lungs. “Of course they do.” He said as if it was obvious. “Why doyou want the relic?” “To follow Jennifer’s every move until she falls into myice cold grasp and I can kill her.” “And if I gave it to you, you’d let us go?”Tray asked. “Mhm.” Tray started to rummage in her pocket. “DON’T GIVE IT TOHIM!” I yelled. Another pain shot through my already bleeding arm. Tray lookedat me. “I will to save you.” Her voice was set and her face was stern, but Inoticed the twinkle in her black eyes. This was a trick and she had a plan.Tray, seeing that I’d understood turned around. I looked at Nell and tried tolet her know through staring at her. Somehow Nell got the message so we bothwatched Tray curiously. What was her plan? “Nick, I know that giving you thiswill help you on the search for Jennifer but sadly that won’t be happening.”Tray punched him square and the face so that he was knocked to the ground. Thesnake women hissed and started to advance on her. On instinct Nell pulled outher sword and I, my knife. We stabbed at them and they disintegrated on thespot. Tray took out a rope and wrapped Nick tightly in it, pinning him to thewall with her dagger. “This won’t last long but it’ll do…” She said. Nellturned to me and stared at my arm. “Are you OK?” Yeah…” That was a lie. Firewas exploding in my body. Tray ripped a scrap off her T-shirt and started towrap it around my arm. “What did he want?” I inquired. “I’ll tell you when weget to a good place. Come on! Let’s go.” With that we started to run down themountain.

Tray-

We started to run down the hill, when I stopped. "What is it?" Sam asked. "Nick," I said. "What about him?" Nell asked. "I think, I think we should take him with us," I said. "What!? Why?!" Sam and Nell yelled simultaneously. " 'Cause, he, he could be useful," I tried. "How?" Sam yelled, but I was already heading back. "Nick." He looked up. He was still tied where I'd left him. "What do you want?" he asked. I started to untie him. He stared at me. "Are you nuts?" he asked. I stopped. "No, but I still want you to come with us. I don't think you want to hurt Jen. I think you'd rather not have to kill her, wouldn't you?" I asked. For once his expression changed from hatred to guilt. "How would you know?" He spat. "Look, my friends don't agree with me, and you know, I could always leave you here." We glared at each other. "Fine, I guess, I guess if I didn't have to I wouldn't, but I do so-" I slapped him. "You don't have to do anything. No one can force you to do anything. Even the gods can't, so why do you listen to them?" I asked. "Because I have t-" "You don't have to do anything! Why don't you just tell your dad you're not going to kill your sister?" I asked desperately. "Fine. Just untie me," he said. So I did. I untied him. As soon as his hands and feet were free he grabbed my neck and pinned me against the wall. "You're a fool Tray Martin. There is no power on this Earth that could make me disobey my dad and not do this quest. Nothing. I should have killed you when I had the chance." "You, can't, kill, me," I choked out. "Yes, I can. I just have to kill you three times." He squeezed harder. "Uh, let go!" I choked. My face was turning red. At that exact moment Sam and Nell ran over. Sam hit Nick on the head with the butt of her knife, and his hesitation gave me the perfect chance. I punched right in between his eyes. He fell backward unconscious. "That was a stupid idea," I muttered. "Come on." We tied him up again, and started down the hill again.

I laughed slightly at howthe plan had changed so quickly. We walked down the hill in silence until Nellasked: “What about Jennifer?” What about her? She was gone and we had no ideawhat was wrong. Plus we still didn’t have a dragon scale that’s what we needed.“Guys! The scale! We need it. It’s where Nick is or is it the other cave?” Iexclaimed. Tray and Nell looked at each other. “It’s not in that cave. Dragonshave a fowl smell and that cave was well…” Tray said. “I think we need togather our strength. They have hikers huts somewhere around here.” Nell saiddecidedly. Soon we found ourselves in front of an old wood building. Tables andchairs were outside facing the pink setting sun. I saw light and a couplesitting romantically by the window sill. The smell of freshly cooked foodfilled the air and my stomach grumbled. “Let’s go in.” The others nodded and wefiled in. A woman came up to us with an apron and some menus. “Welcome toBernd’s Mountain Hut. You can eat and stay for a maximum of a week.” Shegreeted us cheerfully. Her black hair was in a bun and her green eyes studiedus carefully. “Table for three.” Tray told her. We sat down in one of the mostisolated corners. “What happened with you and Nick?” I asked. “Yeah, why did hewant the relic?” Nell added. “He wants the relic to follow Jennifer’s everystep. Then he will be able to find her and well, kill her.” We were silent. Weneeded to destroy Nick and get the dragon scale. We didn’t have much time. “Guys, let’s stay the night and figure out what to do after that. We finished the foodthat the woman had brought us and walked towards a man who looked like theboss. “One room please.” He handed us a key with the number twenty four on it.We walked upstairs and put our stuff down on the floor and flopped onto the bed.The walls were out of wood and the floors were red carpet. “Does that lady seemweird to you?” Nell asked. “I-“ Before I could answer there came a knock on thedoor

"I'll get it." I walked over to the door. When I opened it the lady appeared. She was wearing briliantly red lipstick, a neat black dress, and her hair was pulled back into a perfect bun. I'm serious, there was not a hair out of place. "Yes," I said. Lifeless, I sounded ungrateful. It was the way I was. "You are needed in the lobby," she said. Her voice was cheery, too cheery. It was creepy. "Why?" I asked, I sounded tired, annoyed. I could manipulate my voice and appearance to show different emotions, it's a Hades thing. "Because the, uh, the owner wants to talk to you," she said. "I don't think so." I punched her, but she'd been expecting it. She dodged, and kneed me in the stomach. I doubled over, the wind knocked out of me. She put a knife to my throat. "Nobody move." She glared at Sam and Nell who dropped their weapons.

Sam—

Great! We’d run into a trap! The woman scared me. Her eyes were blue but I could see dark clouds of grey swirling in them. She scared me with her perfection. I hated perfection. It was never… real. “What do you want?” I yelled at the lady. “Oh dear. I thought you would be smarter than that. What do you think?” Her voicewas high and clear like glass but a certain harshness was hidden behind it.“Actually, you haven’t answered my question.” “You haven’t answered mine.”“So.” I crossed my arms. I could see that she was getting annoyed but I wasstalling for time. “What do you want?” I asked again. “The relic. I want therelic.” Why did everyone want the stupid relic? I rolled my eyes. “You want therelic? Which one? There are quite a few, for example: Poseidon, Hades, Ath—““You idiot child! The Hades relic for Pete’s sake!” “Why?” The woman wasgetting even more angry. I swiftly glanced towards Nell and she seemed toalready know why I was doing this. Her forehead was creased with concentrationand her eyes were closed as she thought. Tray looked at me helplessly from thelady’s arms. She tried to step on the woman’s foot but it didn’t help. Thewoman was overly strong, not a mortal. I turned back to the blond lady. “Why?”I said this time louder. “What do you—“ “Answer my question!” “JenniferFitzgerald, she’s needed and I’m here to get the relic from you to find her!But this little one,” she pointed at Tray whose black eyes glared up at her,“is giving us quite a hard time. It would be better if she was killed. Now youknow why I’m here. Give it to me or I’ll kill Thanantos!” There was silence. Noone ever called Tray that. Tray seemed to blow up with madness and started togrope for her sword. “The relic isn’t here.” I said simpley. “You aren’t goingto trick me like that girl! The power is in this room. Actually from my sense there’smore than one, correct?” How did she know this? I looked at Nell franticallybut her eyes were still closed. Tray kept trying to get out of the woman’s icygrip. “I am right. I can sense it in your face.” The woman laughed an evillaugh. This lady was creeping me out even more. “GIVE IT TO ME!” She yelled.“No.” “Well, if that’s so: WATCH YOUR FRIEND DIE!” The knife started to pressinto Tray’s neck and a few drops of blood fell down onto her shirt. I tried toget my knife but the woman saw what I was doing and pushed her knife fartherinto Tray’s neck. Nell suddenly opened her eyes. “Jennifer.” She said. Thewoman fell to the ground and disintegrated as a celestal bronze sword wentthrough her. Jennifer stood behind her looking pleased with herself.

Tray-

I gahsped for breath. The blood was coming out fast. I fell to the floor getting very dizzy. "Jenifer!" I heard Sam shout. That was about it. Was I really this bad? How much trouble had I really caused them. If it was this much it was so was so worth it! "Jen, N- Nick." was all I got out before I fainted. When I woke up I expected to see my friends. But instead I saw skulls. I touched my neck. There was no more blood rushing out, but it was still a fresh wound. "Ow." I groaned. Then there she was, again! The lady that had attacked me! I stood up my knife ready. "What do you want." I spat. "Well, firstly I want your relic, and then I would like your head on a stick." She smiled a perfect smile. Creepy. "Why?" I asked. "Because you are giving my employer an extremly hard time!" She said in a perfect voice. Again, creepy. "Who's your employer?" I asked. "Oh, you know him. Tall, your age, fair hair, blue eyes." She looked at me with perfect eyes. Creepier. "Nick." I spat. "Yes, well, you have to die now." She lunged at me. I stepped aside, and slashed. "Shouldn't you be in tartus!" I shouted annoyed. Jenifer. "Didn't Jen kill you already?" I asked as I slashed, she stopped the knife with a sword and I was getting tired. "Yes, well, my employer has a few special connections." She grinned a perfect grin. "Your employer is a pice of minatour dung!" I spat. "Oh, don't say that. It's disrespectful." She smiled a perfect smile. This was totaly weirding me out. "Right, disrespectful." I sneared. She slashed and her sword made a deep cut on my left side. I groaned, and fell to my nees. "Now for the final kill." She raised her sword to strike me down, but I woke up. Sam stood over me shaking me. "Ow!" I shouted. My side hurt. I pulled up my shirt a bit to see red blood gushing. Great, just what I needed. "What happened?" Sam asked. "I'll tell you if you tell me what happened when I passed out." I groaned.

Sam—

“You were sort of moving your hands as if fighting and then you basically had a conversation with yourself… I think we have to get out of here and get the dragon scale as fast as possible!” I told Tray. She was hurt badly and losing blood fast. Jennifer sat quietly in the corner looking at her sword. It was covered in an odd green liquid. Monster blood. Yuck! Nell ripped the blanket into strips and wetted one with water. She began to dab Tray’s neck. I took another strip, wet it, and pulled up Tray’s skull shirt. The gash wasn’t deep but it was pretty bad. Blood trickled from it. I started washing the wound with water. “So, Tray, what happened?” I asked again. “The woman is Nick’s ‘employee’. She stabbed me and that’s what got this.” Tray pointed to her side that I was washing. I started to go into the wound and she gasped. “Ow. Why does this always happen?” “You’re the one who always causes trouble,” I said simply. Soon I took another strip and dried the wound. Then I wrapped it with cloth and tied a big knot in it. Nell had basically stopped the bleeding on Tray’s neck. I heard footsteps clonking up the stairs. “Jen! Put chairs and the night stands in front of the door. They can’t get in yet!” I shouted at Jennifer. She got up and robotically moved over to get chairs. She started to pile them in front of the door. I turned back to Tray. “Will you be able to run?” “Yeah, sure, no problem.” She stood up but I could see the pain in her grey eyes. “We need food!” Nell exclaimed. “The mini bar!” Nell rushed to the mini bar and pulled out cool drinks and a few chocolate bars. “OK, this is good enough. We still have our sausages and stuff,” Nell said. A large pounding erupted from the door. “LET US IN!” a man’s voice growled. I motioned Jennifer to come and we opened the window. We jumped out onto the shingled roof and slowly crept down. When we were on the ground I heard an agonized shout from the room. “WHERE ARE THEY?” someone shouted. We started to run into the darkness, hoping we would get away by dawn.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk," I tutted scoldingly, stepping out of the crackling cloud of electricity. Jennifer jumped at the sound of my voice, as Tray drew her sword. The rest of their friends stopped to as I stood before them, my spearhead resting on Jennifer's neck. "You killed my servants. Naughty, naughty girls." I shrugged, and reached into the leather bag at my side. "Ah, well. If they couldn't fight off my second-rate sister and her pitiful demigod friends, then they weren't worth much." From my satchel, I withdrew a clean, white, gleaming human skull, laughing inwardly at the revulsion stamped on their face. "They did make a decent snack, though," I smiled, running my tongue along the top of the skull.

"You're disgusting," Nell snapped. Jennifer just looked at me sadly and said quietly, "What are you?" I laughed mockingly. "The question is, dear sister, what have I become?"

"Zeus would never make you like this, nor would any god," Tray snarled. "Au contraire, mon cheres, Zeus isn't the only god of the sky. Now, to business." I whipped the spearhead from Jennifer's neck and stabbed Tray. She slumped to the ground. As the group watched in terrified silence, a sickly green, pulsing light began to run up my spear. Tray's limp body slowly rose until it was levitating a few feet on the ground, glowing with the green light. Dark shades and shadows began to fill the night air. A primal, thudding beat began to fill the air.

"Stop!" Sam yelled raising her sword. "You're killing her!"

"Again, you are wrong," I smirked. "I am merely taking her spirit. Observe," I gestured to the shapes with my free hand, "the power of Hades. My blade has been dipped in the Styx. While its waters have the power to create invulnerability, they also have the power to capture the spirits of the gods!" A high-pitched keening filled the air, and a strong wind began to blow. "Under me, and wih my spear as his vessel, I will hold the true might of Hades!" I roared over the howling winds and spirits. "The long-forgotten power of the dead, the mindless force of a corpse that I can control like a puppeteer controls his marrionettes! THE DARKNESS OF DEATH!" At once, the winds stopped. The spirits disappeared, and Tray's cold body fell to the ground. The green light remained, however, curling and writhing around my spear. "Don't worry. Tray's spirit is still alive in my spear. She can see and hear us. Why don't you say hello?" I said.

"I'll kill you!" Jennifer screamed, and she ran towards me. I flicked my hand lazily, and a skeletal arm erupted from the ground, grabbing her wrist. Nell and Sam ran forward as more corpses rose from the ground. "The powers of Hades and Zeus are now mine to control," I grinned wickedly. "Good-bye, dear sister. I would kill you now, but with a hungry vessel and an endless supply of gods just waiting to have there powers ripped away, I don't have the time. Olympus awaits!" I laughed again as the corpses closed in on the girls. "Ta-ta!"

I slammed the base of my spear on the ground and a ravenous darkness, crackling with lightning, enveloped me, whisking me away to Olympus, leaving my sister and her friends to fight their way to safety.

Sam—

I looked up in awe as Nick left. Where had Tray gone? My spear. Nick’s voice echoed through my ears. I spat at what he had done. Jennifer was being pulled down fast. “HELP ME! SAM, NELL! HELP ME!” she shouted. I rushed to her and started to hack at the glowing white skeleta lhands that were holding her legs. It was no use. It was as if I were trying to get through metal. Nell came over with her sword, trying to help me but it still didn’t help. Suddenly I let out a high-pitched scream as a cold hand grabbed at my ankle. “NELL!” I swirled around to see what had happen to Nell. She was in the same predicament. I took my knife and stabbed the dead hands holding me. Dirt was up to my knees and moving. I turned to Jennifer to see her sink under the ground with one last horrific scream. The dirt was at my hips. I kept hitting the hands with the sharp point of my dagger. “SAM!” Nell yelled, but her head going under the dirt dampened her scream. I was the only one left. The cool earth was up to my neck. Then I closed my eyes and dirt engulfed my horrified body. The skeletal hands were still pulling me down, down to the Underworld, down to the King of Horror. I felt myself fall onto icy marble steps and I looked around. My friends were next to me. Neither was hurt but fear could be seen in their eyes. My blue dolphin sweatshirt was torn and covered with mud. I slowly stood up to face the last person I wanted to see at this moment, Hades. His wife, Persephone, sat next to him, looking taken aback.“What… Who are they?” she whispered to Hades. “Halfblood rats,” Hades replied loudly in a sort of greeting. Nell and Jennifer had also stood up to stare at him. “I see that Nick did a good job.” Hades laughed evilly. Persephone stared at us, appalled. “You? You sent him!” I exclaimed. “Round of applause. It seems that my daughter has been giving them quite a hard time. So, I gave Nick the permission to get her and take her spirit. I gave him part of the power of the Underworld,” Hades told us simply. “You ogre! That’s your own daughter!” Nell shouted at him. “I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!” Hades roared. “Where is she?” Jennifer demanded. “Here.” Hades flicked his fingers and a light glowing blue ball appeared in his hand. It grew bigger until I could make out a dark black room with skulls lining the walls. Tray sat with her legs pulled up to her chest, clutching to her waist. “SHE’S HERE!” I yelled. “Yes, she is. My daughter has to behave herself and she hasn’t. So, she must be punished.” “She’s hurt! Can’t you see that?” Nell shouted at Hades. “Oh yes but that’s her punishment. She must deal with the pain!” Persephone turned to Hades. “Dear, don’t you think that’s a little harsh?” she said in her calm soothing voice. “Oh Persephone! You know I told you that my children are my business and not yours.” He touched her cheek, ready to kiss Persephone. I slunk back in disgust. I still couldn’t imagine living with that guy! “Let us see her!” Jennifer interrupted the pair loudly. Hades turned around. “If that’s so!” He whisked his hand and we flew into the air. Then we were dropped onto a hard floor, like in the hall. It was Tray’s bedroom. The air was a little stale but live able. “Tray?” I whispered.

Tray-

I was hidden in the shadows. I screamed, and jumped out at one of the intruders. I stabbed down, but they blocked it. "Tray!" someone shouted. I recognised Nell's voice. "Stop!" she shouted. I realised that the intruders were Sam, Nell, and Jenifer. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else," I muttered putting my knife back in my belt. "Tray, we have to get you out of here." Sam started looking around. "I know a way out and I know that if I leave, Nick doesn't have the power of Hades anymore." I walked back and sat on my bed. "We have to get out of here. How do we get out?" Nell asked. "Here." I pulled a panel open to reveal a secret passage. I crawled in. "Ya, it's safe." I crawled a little farther, but I felt searing pain in my leg. "Ah!" I groaned. I crawled out to see my leg covered in blood from a deep cut above my ankle. I looked up. Nick. His goons had Jenifer, Sam, and Nell. "What do you want now, ogre face." He glared. "I should have killed you the first time but I didn't. Now I know I need to. You have become very annoying, and a cause of much trouble to me. You must die. My eyes got wide and I jumped as he stabbed with his spear. I took out my knife and he laughed. "You always use that; pity, I was hoping for a challenge." I slashed, cutting his arm, then again at his leg. His eyes watered in pain. "Challenge eh? I can give you a challenge. He got a smug look on his face and something grabbed me. It was a cyclops! "I hate you." I spat. He giggled an annoying evil freak giggle. "I know." Nick's henchmen pulled me away in one direction, Sam and Nell in another, and Jenifer in another. They're separating  us! I glared at Nick, I hated him. I was being held prisoner in my own realm! Hades was in front of me. "You disappoint me, Thanantos." He growled. "You were not supposed to escape." And this was my DAD talking! Talk about family issues! "Well, I wasn't supposed to be captured now, was I?" We glared at each other. Is it just me, or do I have THE WORST dad ever? Well really family; my mom's brain was mush, and my dad was the king of hell. Ya, worst family in the history of bad demi-god families. "What do you and Nick want with me?" I asked. "Well Nick wants you dead, but I have forbidden him from killing you, yet." Great. "Right, so, while I'm being killed what are you going to do? Sit back and have some popcorn?" I shouted. He hit me, hard. Now getting hit is bad enough, getting hit by your dad is worse, but when your dad's a god, it REALLY hurts. I glared. "No, you will be fighting Nick in an arena. The one who holds the other one down for 3 seconds at least wins. If Nick wins, he is allowed to kill you; if you win, we let all of you go." I stared at him, dumbstruck. Then anger and rage took over. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" I shouted. "I'M YOUR DAUGHTER!" I yelled. He glared at me, "Get her out of my sight." He spat. Some guy came and pulled me away. I was dressed in classic greek armor, then I was pushed into an arena with Nick and his spear at the other end. I had my knife in my belt. I looked up and saw Sam, Nell, and Jenifer in chains in the stands. I gulped. "Oh great," I muttered. "I'll kill those stupid gods!" I muttered under my breath. I was gonna pay for that, but I was in a bit of a tight situation, so give me a break.

Sam—

Chains were thrust around my ankles and hands. I was tied to some large wooden square. I kept trying to get away but I soon gave up and turned to the arena where Tray and Nick were standing. Tray was fingering her knife, but I didn’t think that would be enough for this. She had to use a sword. Soon a man dressed in dark black robes stepped in. His face was as pale as the moon, and it looked even whiter against the black cloth. “We are gathered here,” he started off in a deep voice, “to witness the fight between Thatanonos Martin and Nicolas Bend. So, let the fight BEGIN!” he finished and shouted the last word. Nick advanced on Tray with his spear. She was trying to shield herself with her knife. Nick ran at her, pointing the spear at her heart, and Tray quickly side-stepped it. Then she lunged out at Nick’s hand but missed it by an inch. Nick threw the spear to the side and took out a long gleaming sword. Tray stepped back, worried. Nick ran at her trying to get her arm but Tray stopped the attack with her knife. Sword and knife clashed together. Tray was driving Nick back, but then her knife slipped. Taking this chance, Nick grazed her arm with his sword. Tray leaped back in pain and dropped her knife. “YOUR SWORD!” I screamed from the cheering stands. Tray took a quick look at me and dived for her pocket, taking out something that looked like a toothpick. It grew until it became a shining sword. Tray forgot her arm and ran at Nick with her sword. He stepped to the right but she knew he would. Tray lunged at the unexpecting Nick and pushed him down with her sword butt. I could see her lips slowly counting. Then a whistle was blown, and the same black-clad man came out. “THATANONOS MARTINHAS WON THE GAME!” he shouted, and the crowd cheered. Tray raised her sword in victory. Our chains were loosened and we ran towards her. “You were great!” I exclaimed hugging Tray. She smiled. Her black hair was shining with sweat. “Thanks!” she breathed heavily. “Wait here, I have something to do.” Then Tray walked up to her father.

Tray-

I walked up to my dad. He hugged me. "I'm so glad you're not dead." I smiled. "Me too." He let go and I walked back to my friends. They were smiling. "So, you and your dad back on good terms?" Jenifer asked. "Yup, and--" I was cut off at the sound of hands scraping gravel. Suddenly I had to dodge a sword. Nick's sword. I dodged, then I slashed. "Nick! The fight's over! I won!" I shouted. He snarled. "My boss wants you dead, Tray, and he told ME to do it!" I jumped and slashed. He dodged. He punched my stomach with the butt of his sword. I groaned and doubled over. I punched his leg where I'd hit him during the battle. He screamed in pain. I raised my sword. "Go on, strike me down. You can explain that to Jenifer later." He glared. He was playing with his life, and I hesitated. "Who are you working for?" I asked angrily. "There is more than one god of the sky." He grinned evily, and in a flash of bright light, he was gone. I lowered my knife. My friends walked over. "What happened?" they asked. "He's not working for Zeus," I muttered. "What?" "He's not working for Zeus!" I yelled. They looked surprised. I didn't yell at them if I didn't have to. "He's working for another sky god." "Who?" Nell asked. "I have no idea."
