Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

New music lyrics

New music lyrics thread, anyone? All the other ones are too massively long for my poor iPad to handle, so I thought I'd start a new one.
Paranoid Android by Radiohead. Obviously, I own nothing, music and lyrics are by Radiohead.
Please could you stop the noise, I'm trying to get some rest
From all the unborn chicken voices in my head
What's that...? (I may be paranoid, but not an android)
What's that...? (I may be paranoid, but not an android) When I am king, you will be first against the wall
With your opinion which is of no consequence at all
What's that...? (I may be paranoid, but no android)
What's that...? (I may be paranoid, but no android) Ambition makes you look pretty ugly
Kicking and squealing gucci little piggy
You don't remember
You don't remember
Why don't you remember my name?
Off with his head, man Off with his head, man
Why don't you remember my name?
I guess he does.... Rain down, rain down
Come on rain down on me
From a great height
From a great height... height...
Rain down, rain down
Come on rain down on me From a great height
From a great height... height...
Rain down, rain down
Come on rain down on me TThat's it, sir
You're leaving
The crackle of pigskin
The dust and the screaming
The yuppies networking
The panic,~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, the song is about Marvin the Paranoid Android. Amazing, yes?

You know what's really bad?  Every time someone says "Oh my god" I start singing.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh you guys... AGH

"Positive" and people talking about getting in shape are also really bad triggers.

I've never even actually watched it!  It was performed locally by two different theater groups, so I've just been around people involved in productions too much.  :)

Give me hope and silence

It's easier

It's kinder

And tell me not

Of heartbreak

It plagues my soul

It plagues my soul

...

And then more lyrics that I no remember. Anyway, the song is The Enemy by Mumford & Sons and it's from the 2011 Wuthering Heights move with Kaya Scodelario.

Oh. And:

We're only young and naive still

We require certain skill

The mood it changes like the wind

Hard to control when it begins

The bittersweet between my teeth

Trying to find the inbetween

Fall back in love eventually

EEyeah EEyeah EEyeah EEyeah

Can't myself but count the flaws

Crawl my way out through these walls

Want temporary escape

Feel it start to permeate

We lie beneath the stars at night

Our hands grip each other tight

You keep my secrets hope to die

Promise this well unto the sky

And etc.etc.

The song is Young Blood by the Naked and Famous. Birdy also sang a cover which I used to like more than the original but now I think the original trumps all.

"Starlight" by Muse

"Far away
This ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die

Starlight
I will be chasing the starlight
Until the end of my life
I don't know if it's worth it anymore

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms

My life
You electrify my life
Let's conspire to ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive

But I'll never let you go
If you promised not to fade away
Never fade away

Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms

Far away
This ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die

And I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away

Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
I just wanted to hold"

And then he dies.  Or something.  Anyway, my new favorite song by Muse.  It's sooooo Ar/Cleeg.  #notashipper
I'm sure nobody knows what that last bit was about.

Well hello there, it's me

with how it's gonna be.

Settle down and listen up good:

the old Hatter is gone,

but the hat must go on.

Worn by me, is that understood?

So shut up, and toe the line

while I redefine how this all will be mine.

I have a dream.

It's got a full head of steam!

What is true, what is not

can both change in a shot.

People, me, I couldn't care less.

'Cause in two seconds flat

living under my hat

is the strategy for success.

I will look the other way

when you wanna play

something more than croquet.

You catch my drift?

A little personal gift...

I'm the mad Hatter!

Come and follow me, this is it!

The mad Hatter!

All you gotta do is submit!

And if you don't, my friend

well then, in the end

there'll be nothing left to defend.

Know what I mean?

When you are facing the Queen.

Uppercase, double-spaced,

everyone gets a taste

and a brand-new leather hat band.

But to participate,

let me reiterate

You must first put me in command.

I'm the wonder, understand,

under Wonderland

put the reins in my hand.

I'll do the rest.

As soon as you've acquiesced!

I'm the mad Hatter!

Offering a little bit more!

The mad Hatter!

Giving you what you're looking for!

I am your best worst case

for the choice you face

I'm the fastest rat in the race.

It's me or the Queen,

and her serene guillotine.

There is nothing I won't do.

There is nothing too taboo:

I will lie! I will cheat!

I will track you down and then hit delete

tout suite.

So, sweety, let me repeat:

I'm the mad Hatter!

Pledge allegiance while you still can!

The mad Hatter!

More than just a hat with a plan!

I am where you belong,

the right kind of wrong,

and I'll still be going real strong.

The bottom line

is everything will be fine.

As all the planets align,

it's gonna be so divine,

when all of this will be mine!

"The Mad Hatter" (aptly-named, isn't it? :P) from Wonderland. And the Hatter's OTHER villain song. Ugh this show. this show. I cannot stop listening to it. and both "Once More I Can See" and "Finding Wonderland" keep making me tear up and cake the critics who didn't like having two ballads in one act. THEY ARE BOTH WONDERFUL AND I LUFFS THEM. /offtopicrambling.

I found a recording of KS singing the old version of this song (with the most AWESOME piano accompaniment it's all jazzy and nasty and stuff) today and it's ALL I've been listenting to for hours:

*

Well, hello there, it's me

bearing crumpets and tea

and whatever else you may need.

For although, I might add,

you all know I'm quite mad

there's an appetite that I feed.

Your circumstance

and you last best chance,

so turn up the music and dance.

Check out the hat.

'Cause baby, I'm where it's at!

I'm what you wanna hear

whispered into your ear

when you just don't know what to say.

I'm your spark in the night,

I'm the reason you're right

and the reason you run away.

I'm the game you try to cheat,

words you always eat.

People, let me repeat:

Check out the hat.

'Cause baby, I'm where it's at!

I'm the mad Hatter!

Wacky as a Hatter should be!

The mad Hatter!

Ain't nobody crazy as me!

There may be copy-cats

wearing great big hats,

but any imitation you see

ain't gonna be

the same as little old me.

I'm the thing that you pray

from the cradle to grave,

not too much, and not quite enough.

I'm your sugar and spice,

I'm your naughty and nice

I'm the [something] with the right stuff.

I'm your full-on speed of light,

stick of dynamite,

urge you simply can't fight,

the edge of a knife.

It makes you run for your life!

I'm the mad Hatter!

Dapper as a Hatter should be!

The mad Hatter!

Ain't nobody snappier, see?

I got a promised coup

all lined up for you,

so get ready for my new regime!

I got a scheme

for when I'm reigning supreme.

You won't need to dream at all,

living large and thinking small

Things will be like they should

There'll be way more cups in the neighborhood

Understood?

Don't be afraid; it's all good!

I'm the mad Hatter!

Never get a handle on me!

The mad Hatter!

Crazier than I oughta be!

Don't be afraid, my friend,

because in the end,

you can be all that you can be:

happy and free...

Once you surrender to me.

Be all that you can be,

once you surrender to me.

Come on, surrender to me!

*

...Frankly, I can see why they changed it—this version was trying too hard and did nothing whatsoever to further the plot and obscured the Hatter's actual motivations unnecessarily and the rhyming is way sloppier (#sondheimite)—but it's still bloody awesome. Not least because it's way creepier than the current version (although that's admittedly at least partly because KS sort of croons parts of the verses and it makes her voice go all small and a tiny bit nasally and when she does that it sort of sounds like she's about to impart some horrible secret that will ruin your life forever. And also pianos are inherently more creepy than a full orchestra. BUT STILL). And I love love love all the contradictory metaphors, they're delicious. /morerambling
