And then I didn't post. facepalm

___________

Kyder Talorian

Leo slumped, dead, and the canon went off. And then were there were four. Two from two, and two from four.

Do I kill Anise now? Or wait? I don't think Fishgirl could kill me, no way, but Kili with her, they might be able to take me down.

You know what? I don't care. Let her parents just try and kill me when I get back. Let them.

She must have had the same thought about killing me, and she was turning around, already pulling her sword out, but it was too late for her. I stabbed her, and she went down, but as she did, she got a good cut into my calf. I stabbed her again, and she screamed for a short moment. Then she died. Just. Like. That. The canon went off.

Just. Like. That.

I could die like that. Didn't know what was coming until a second too late. Stabbed by my district partner.

Well, I hadn't, and I wouldn't.

Time to hunt down the little fishies of District 4.

Suddenly, the trees erupt with mutts, those talking ones. Blast it. I'm a dead man. There are so many of them.

But they don't kill me. Not yet. Oh no, don't play, just kill me and get it over with. My sword clatters from my hand. Finally, one of the mutts speaks. "Runny meat runny meat two legs run. Follow run follow flying us. Follow find runny meat run find follow two two legs runny meat."

This is ridiculous. Oh, wait, it's not. They're going to take me to find Fishgirl and Kili.

This is going to be easier than I thought.

Kilian O’Dell-

It’s dark when I wake up. I’m feeling better; the pain in my leg is subsiding. Jo is curled into a ball, the tip of a knife poking out from under her bag. She still doesn’t trust me, but she saved my life. I wonder what girls think sometimes.

I try to move, and a blunt pain creeps up my leg. I wince and begin to push myself up again.

I chew a small bit of dried beef and drink some water. The liquid feels cold and refreshing, trickling down my throat.

“No! NO! Help! Da! No! Don’t kill him! Kili! KILI!” I swerve around. Jo is shaking, her eyes wide open with fear.

“Jo. Jo, I’m here.” She grasps my arm tightly.

“Can you walk?” Her dark eyes look like those of a raccoon with rabies.

“It’s painful, but better.” I laugh offhandedly.

“Good. We have to go.”

“Why?”

“Something’s coming.”

“Jo, that was just a dream.”

“No! Listen: It’s real; there’s something…” Something large pounces on her.

“JO!” I grab my trident and stab the beast. It whimpers and falls to the ground.

“Are you okay?”

“There’re more!” She screams and grabs her weapon. A pack of mutts burst through the undergrowth.

“Found runny, bloody, funny meat. Two two legs runny, yummy meat.” Kider now appears, holding a long sword. He advances on us, but I’m fast. I swipe at him with my net, yet he side-steps it.

“Predictable.” He’s trying to provoke me so that I loose my concentration. I try again, but he’s too good.

Suddenly I hear a low growl. Both of us turn around.

“Three two legs runny meat. Trick two leg, funny, bloody meat. Dead runny, funny meat.”

I won't be posting for a week. Stay alive, little thread!

Kyder Talorian

I start swearing. Extravagantly. I am such an idiot. I bloody actually followed those mutts! This is crazy. One of them clawed at my leg, and I swatted it off. Are the Gamemakers crazy? These mutts are going to kill all three of us. The little ones, those were no problem. It was the serpentine wolf Minotaur things that I was worried about.

There were three of them, and there was no way I could defeat even one of them, not on my own. And O'Dell and Fishgirl outnumber me, two to one. I swore again.

The big mutts didn't seem to like that much, and one of them growled. The little mutts flew up into a tree and began making a cackling noise. They were laughing.

"Okay, O'Dell," I said. "Either you kill me, or I kill and you and Fishgirl, and we better do it quickly. Or we can try and fight those things."

Kilian answered without taking his eyes off the mutts, his trident in one hand and net in the other. "I trust you about as far as I can spear you."

"I trust you about as far as I can stick you, O'Dell. This alliance will last all of three minutes, O'Dell. After that, expect a sword in your back."

He laughed grimly. The mutts had started to slowly circle. "Expect my trident in your back, Kyder."

"Net the first one, and I'll kill it, and we'll move like that."

"I never said I was going to help you, Kyder," he said quietly.

Oh no. I'm an idiot.

Fishgirl is already leaping onto me, a knife in her hand.

The angle is wrong.

Too far away.

My sword was in my hand before.

Just deflect the knife off the hilt.

I do.

Same motion, slash it across her neck.

Fishgirl stumbles back.

I stick my sword through her neck and the handle is torn away from me.

I try to turn to face O'Dell, reaching for the knife that's sheathed at the small of my back.

It's too late.

A trident has three prongs, hence the "tri" part.

One rips through my hand and enters my back, pinning my right hand to my body.

That's the middle prong.

The left prong goes through my stomach.

The right prong doesn't hit me at all, because my hand pushed the trident's angle away.

I fall to my knees, and then to the ground. My vision faded in and out of black.

Fishgirl laid just a few steps away from me, clutching her throat. Blood spilled over her hands. O'Dell ran over to her.

Half a minute later, the canon boomed.

I think Kili was screaming. "JO!"

Then he got up and walked over to me.

I squinted up at him. "You going to kill me, O'Dell?"

@SC: Can Jo not be dead just yet, just, like, seriously injured? I kinda wanted her alive for a couple more days, at least.

Sure!

A few days? I thought, at this rate, that we would have portions of tributes still alive.

2: Kyder, Anise

4: Kili, Jo

//Jonatte//

There's a long gash from the middle of my neck to the bottom of  my ear, and a large wound at the soft neck part at the shoulder blade. I rip the sword out and blindly throw it at Kyder's direction. I hear a thump and a groan, but no canon goes off. Or one did and I just didn't hear, because my blood is clogging up my ears. I use one hand to try to stop the flow in my neck, and use the other to shuffle me to a pack of trees, to shade. The hot ground burns my hands but I'm determined. I hear a voice, it seems like a million miles away, saying, "So, O'Dell, there's four of us left. Fishgirl won't last another hour, and Kyder, well, I was going to finish him anyways, it's only a matter of time before the infections come.  So it's just you...and me." Anise's menancing voice echos in my head, and I slowly open one eye. Kili and Anise are squaring off, Anise with her bloodied sword and Kili with a net and trident. Trident...trident! I lift my head ever so slightly and look towards our meager campsite. My trident is propped up ever so slightly against a small bush and I slowly scoot towards it. It seems like forever before I finally reach it, but my hand grasps along the handle. Just these movements make my blood flow faster, and pain is electicuting throughout my body. But I lift it up ever so slightly, use it as a lever to stand up, and take aim at the back of Anise's head. I thrust the weapon forward and it burrrows into her neck. She slumps forward and falls to the ground, the canon going off right as she falls. It's just me, Kili, and Kyder, now.

Well, um, I kinda killed Anise off on December 6th, (first post on page 9), but I did it in about forty words, so it would have been really easy to miss it. But I like your death much better, I mean, Kyder thought about killing her, thought a little bit, then killed her. Yeah.

Okay.

And then there were three.

ZB, I think it's time that Jo dies because we can't run off again. This is really the final stance. So, if you agree I have a post but I won't post I until I know that you're okay with that.

Yeah, I agree, I'm really actually getting tired of Jo now. So please, kill her.

Of course, if SC wants Kyder to win this is irrelevant. :)

Kilian O’Dell

“Are you going to kill me, O’Dell?” Kyder laughs
halfheartedly. He doesn’t think I’ll do it.

“You think I’m a coward.” I spit on his face.

“You’ve hesitated this long.” He cackles again.

I lean my weight ever so slightly on the handle of the
trident, compelling the prongs into his skin. He grits his teeth, not wanting
to reveal the pain he is in.

“You can’t kill me; you know that.” But he looks worried,
unsure; asking himself if maybe he was wrong. I let the rest of my weight
slowly force the trident into his body.

“You’ll pay for this, O’Dell.” Then the cannon sounds.

I run to where Jo is lying, her hand clutching her trident.

“Jo? Jo!” I kneel on the ground next to her, stroking her
hair back and feeling her pulse.

“I- I’m so sorry, Kili,” she whispered, trying to look up at
me.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about.” I shake my head and gaze
at her pale face, so beautiful at the brink of death.

“I never really told you…how I felt. Ever since you saved me,
even before then. You have such wonderful eyes.” She smiles painfully.

I grasp her hand, clasping it tightly in mine. “You’re strong,
Jo. You’ll pull through.” Tears spring into my eyes.

She shakes her head weakly. “I was never meant for this, Kili.
I wasn’t meant to fight.”

“You’ve done so well.” I wet my lips, not wanting to give way
to my sadness.

We sit
there in silence for a moment before she speaks again. “I see something, Kili.
I-I am swimming. Fish are circling around me, biting my toes.

“It’s
the shore, Kili. Our shore,” she whispers, her eyes lighting up slightly. “The-
There’s the boat dock. Da, Ma. I’m swimming faster, closer.”

Another
pause. “Da’s coming towards me in the boat. He’s getting closer… Shall I go?”

I
cannot stop the tears from flowing down my cheeks in thick streams. “Go, Jo. Go
home.”

Her
breathing is becoming heavier. “I’m going home, Kili. I’m going home.” Then the
cannon bellows his last mournful cry.

I close
her eyes, she seems so peaceful, resting in the sand. I bend down and kiss her
dry lips once more. Then I know.

I know that life will never be the same, that
I will never fall in love and that I will never find peace until death pulls me
silently from my bed one night. Only then will I be happy. With my little Jo.

WAHHHH!!!!

Well, since my brave Kyder *sniffles* is dead, and WAHHH!!!!

Okay, cry time over now.

Thanskyder Talorian

"So," I said. "This is it. This is all there is." Me, twenty-two bored kids, and a guy in a suit with a paddle.

The man wearing the suit huffed. "What did you expect?"

"I don't know," I said, looking around at the dilapidated boat and river full of junk. "Maybe something a little cleaner?"

The man huffed again and then ignored me. I guess he doesn't like people insulting his boat. I bet even Anise could have built a better one.

I leaned over the edge and looked at the dirty water below. Suddenly, a spot cleared and an image began to play across the water.

That's how I watched Fishgirl die.

Kilian never did get over her death. He cried during the video. Later, he resorted to morphling for a few years, then stopped. He became Mayor. Nothing much.

The image focused on two things during his entire time as Mayor of 4.

The first one was just him watching a screen, but the focus was on the screen.

"Again," a woman was saying, "there has been a mine accident in District 12. As of now, it is unclear how much this will affect production..." Kilian switched the channel.

A different woman, with less makeup, was speaking. She was reading names off a sheet of paper. "...Devin Brier, no family. Erin Hawthorne, husband of Hazelle Hawthorne, and father of Gale, Rory, Vick, and Posy Hawthorne. Jacob Everdeen, husband to Alexandra Everdeen and father to Katniss and Primrose Everdeen. Karen Espeer, wife to..."

The second image is of Peacekeepers aiming guns at Kilian. He's old now. "Well, well, well," says a man who's face I can't see. "It seems that the former Mayor of District 4 hasn't quite died yet..."

A broken doll flows through the clear spot of water, and it breaks up. I didn't have to see anymore. I knew what was going to happen.

I turned around, bored again, and after forty years, Kilian slowly fades into view. Fishgirl hugs him. The guy in the suit starts paddling. Finally. After forty years.

Kilian finally grasped that he's dead. "What the...? Where are we?"

"Figure it out yourself, O'Dell," I said. "Apparently, we get to go to this place called Alaizium because we were in the Hunger Games and all that. Not sure why. But we inspired people to fight back later, or something."

Yes, yes, we did.

That's something that I saw, when the river Branches cleared up enough for me to see something in that little image.

They built a memorial for us. All the children who died in the Hunger Games. 1,734 names. They gave people like Finnick Odair there own small memorials.

On that memorial, there is a poem, a poem that is so old that nobody knew who wrote it, or what they carved was even what the poem originally was.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not die in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one starved child,

Unto his home again,

I shall not die in vain.

Personally, I would have liked to have been alive, but the poem was nice. So maybe, I guess, I didn't die in vain.

I don't think anybody else did, either.

Ah phoey, it's over *sighs* Well, it had to end sometime.

Oh, and nice twist at the end, SC. I like it, it was kinda like Greek myths and Hunger Games combined... :D But, EM, did you want to describe what it was like on the Victory Tour and back in District 4?

Well, I feel like if I did that would ruin the ending and SC's ending is nothing other than awesome; you can't mess with that. :)
