hey guys! i'm really excited to get to know you both :D

ooh, that's a tough question, how dare you make me choose /lh

um, i'll probably go with writing--there's just something so wonderful about spinning worlds out of thin air. it's very close, though, but i just haven't done a ton of outside-of-school reading lately :/ what about you guys?

and sort of a follow-up question, what sorts of things have you guys been writing and reading lately?

Hi!

I'm so excited to get to know you both! So I try to post every day but I'm pretty busy so sometimes it takes a day or two to respond. So apologies in advance if it takes a bit!

I think I prefer reading over writing just because I do it more often. Do either of you have a favorite book?

Writing is so cool because you can literally put together any sort of shenanigans you want and drop characters into it and basically manipulate the whole world lol. Though honestly, I might have to say reading because I always get writers block and can never finish my stories :(.

As for my favorite series, its probably obvious that its warriors. I've recently started the book Lei and the Fire Goddess and its pretty good! How about you?

i totally agree with what you said about writing, Moon Wolf--both how cool it is and how i can never finish anything :')

do either of you have be a writing project you're currently working on?

i must say, i have never read Warriors (i don't know why? there's cats and forests and magic and epic battles, right? those all sound like things i would enjoy? but for some reason i've just never gotten around to reading it). i looked up Lei and the Fire Goddess, though, and it looks really cool! the cover is so pretty. maybe i'll check it out :D

my favorite book series is probably The Raven Cycle, or maybe Six of Crows (...i apparently have a thing for corvids in book titles). they're both fantasy, and i love all the characters so much. do either of you have a favorite fictional character (or characters, if you're indecisive like me)?

what about you, WiLdSoNg? do you have a favorite book?

and what sort of music do you guys listen to? what are your favorite songs or artists at the moment?

It really hard for me to finish writing projects. I also feel like I'm so busy with sports. But I really need to do more writing!

I also haven't read warriors! I've heard it's good, though, so maybe I should check it out!

I'm pretty sure, I've read one of the series you mentioned, pangolin, although I can't remember which. Ooh, it's so hard for me to pick a favorite character! And a favorite book. I tend to go with the last really good book I read, so for example Divine Rivals. I just got and finished it and LOVED it! I totally recommend it.

As for music, I tend to like pop, older songs, sad/angry songs, and musical songs! What about you guys?

Oh, also, do you have a captcha, and if so what is their name? Mine is named Benbi and he says, "ttwhc". Maybe he's trying to say ttyl? Talk to you later!

Currently, I'm working on a collaborative story with my friend. It's a bit of a mystery and sci-fi, but it's more lighthearted than most. We have finished the first story so far, and we're working on a sequel right now.

Yes, Warriors is a series I'd definitely recommend to everyone. I'll admit that the beginning can be a bit confusing at first, but it gets really good after that. Basically about four clans of cats who live in the forest, and a house cat named Rusty ventures into the forest and discovers them. Really good series.

I haven't read The Raven Cycle nor Six of Crows yet. Is it good? And what is it about?

As for favorite fictional character, yes it's so hard to choose! There's so many books/series and all the characters are designed well. I'd have to say Cinderheart though, from Warriors. She has such a good backstory.

I'm into more pop songs, like Taylor Swift's, but I also enjoy some calmer songs every now and then.

My CAPTCHA's name is Twilight and says <gomhp>. Not sure what that means.

Hmm...do any of you have any pets?

Moon Wolf, it's so cool that you're collaborating on a book with your friend (and you're on the sequel? whoa!). mystery/sci-fi always makes for an interesting story :D and WiLdSoNg, i definitely get what you said about not having a ton of time to write :P

Warriors sounds really cool and ooh so does Divine Rivals!! i'll definitely have to check out both of those :D

yeah, i love both The Raven Cycle and Six of Crows! :D The Raven Cycle is set in contemporary Virginia and it's about a friend group on their quest to find a dead Welsh king and there's psychics and trees that speak Latin and vintage cars and banter and i love it so much. Six of Crows is about a very complex magical heist and it's sooo good. i'd definitely recommend both of them :D

ooh, WiLdSoNg, you like songs from musicals? do you have a favorite musical? and Moon Wolf, i also love Taylor Swift! do you have a favorite song or album?

i like pop music too, and i also like calmer stuff that still has a strong beat. i love boygenius ("Not Strong Enough" and "Leonard Cohen"), Better Oblivion Community Center ("Sleepwalkin'" and "Service Road"), Taylor Swift (basically all of folklore and evermore), LEON ("Wishful Thinking" and "Wildest Dreams") and many more artists i can't think of off the top of my head!

yep! i have...two CAPTCHAs, for some reason. there's Virid (a large gray mouse with moss and ferns growing on his back), who speaks when the CAPTCHA letters are green/brownish, and Knight (a tiny glittering white dragon), who speaks when they're any other color. rn, Virid says <iiipw> ...whatever that's supposed to mean XD

yeah, i have two cats :D they are both very silly and i love them so much. do either of you have pets?

First of all, sorry guys, I like to hit reply so I can respond to questions you asked a little easier. :)

Your story sounds so interesting, Moon Wolf! You should post sections sometime. I always love reading what other people write because people have such different but amazing writing styles!

And pangolin, I think the one I read was Six of Crows! It sounds very familiar. I remember it being good!

So on my musicals playlist I have a lot of songs from Hamilton, a bunch of songs from Hadestown, a couple of songs from Six, and then a bunch of random sets or groups. I got to see Hamilton on Broadway so that's probably my favorite. Unfortunately not with the original cast, but it was still really cool! What are your favorite musicals or songs from musicals?

I like Taylor Swift pretty well, but she's not my favorite artist. I like I Know Places and Anti-Hero (I know, kind of basic :p) I honestly don't listen to all of her songs so I really just don't know.

I also have two cats pangolin! One is very fat; she is the older sister and definitely the alpha. She's kind of a bully to our other cat. We call her Shadow because she's mostly all black. The other cat is named Mira and we call her that because she is very playful. Mira meaning "look" in Spanish. They're kind of anti social and don't really like being with us XD. Do you have pets Moon Wolf?

My collaborative story probably needs quite a lot of revisions and is a little confusing/unrealistic sometimes, but I can post sections of it (my friend gave permission :D). I can give a quick summary of the first story if you guys want to read it.

Six of Crows and Raven Cycle both sound really interesting. I'll keep a look out for it in the library.

My favorite song from Taylor Swift is Cruel Summer. How about you, pangolin?

As for musicals, Wildsong, I've really only watched Hamilton, and I thought it was really cool. I had a few of the songs stuck in my head for a while before. What's your favorite Hamilton song (if you have one)?

The only pets I have are fish, though we recently got two rosy red minnows and they are rather cute, honestly. We used to have a catfish as well, though it grew too big for the tank and we had to move it to a friend's fish tank. Pangolin, what are your cats' names?

It's cool, WiLdSoNg, don't apologize! :D whatever's easiest for you :)

Yeah, I'd love to hear a summary/read some exerpts of your story, Moon Wolf, if you're willing to share! It sounds really cool.

It's cool that you've read Six of Crows, WiLdSoNg! And yeah, I'd definitely recommend them if you want to check them out, Moon Wolf :D

WiLdSoNg, I also love Hamilton, Hadestown, and SIX! It's impossible to choose a favorite song from those, but I love "My Shot", "Wait For It", "Non-Stop", "Satisfied", "Burn", and both cabinet battles and basically all the ones I can rap along with much to my sister's dismay because I cannot rap :D From Hadestown--hm, I haven't listened to it that much, so I can't really judge, but I love "Any Way The Wind Blows" and "Way Down Hadestown." And from SIX, I love "Don't Lose Ur Head" and "I Don't Need Your Love." What about you? And it's so cool that you've seen Hamilton on Broadway! :D I saw it a year or so ago, and it was so good, even without the original cast! Eliza was played by Krystal Joy Brown and she was sooo good.

Moon Wolf, I like "Cruel Summer" too! My favorite albums are probably folklore, evermore, and Midnights, and my favorite song is either "ivy" or "Maroon". All her music songs are so good! "Anti-Hero" is also good. It's popular for a reason :D

Fish are cool! I used to have some fish :) My cats are named Tayto (after the potato chip brand because he looks and acts like a potato) and Pepper (that was his name before we adopted him and we kept it because it fit him) :)

Do either of you celebrate any winter holidays or have any holiday family traditions?

Oh my gosh the cabinet battles? Sooooo good! I love rap debate battles! A couple years ago I could basically sing the entire show but unfortunately now I can only sing most of the show! :D I love how Hadestown is down with the band. Have you seen the cast of Hadestown's Tiny Desk Concert on NPR? It's very good. You should check it out! I don't have a favorite song from these shows. I like my musical playlist because I don't have to choose!

Moon Wolf, have you see the Taylor Swift movie? Oh! Also, my chorus sang a Taylor Swift medley for our last concert! It had Bad Blood, Style, and You Belong With Me. Do either of you like to sing?

I like the names of your cats, pangolin! They're funny! Fish are cool! I've never had them because we travel a lot and fish take a bit of attention but they're so pretty!

I celebrate Hanukkah (my mother is Jewish and I just had my bat mitzvah) and Christmas! And my birthday is in December! My family celebrates Christmas as more of a family solstice-y holiday. What about you guys?

Here's a summary of the story (which I hope isn't too confusing): Ex-criminal Akira and college dropout Tristan unexpectedly bump into each other on the streets. As they continue with their lives, they find suspicious information concerning the government. They meet again and find out about Lucifer, a mysterious candidate for the position of Priceps Mundi -- ruler of the world -- that hides a secret behind his back. Together, along with Michelle, a newfound friend, they find out about Lucifer's secrets and try to stop his evil plans.

I like the song "Alexander Hamilton" from Hamilton. My favorite character is probably Lafayette and King George III.

I haven't seen the Taylor Swift movie yet. Is it good? Also I try to sing along with the songs, but with zero talent lol. I can't reach the super high nor super low notes.

My family used to celebrate Christmas more when I was younger, but now we don't really. The only Christmas tradition that we keep is driving around and looking at the Christmas lights and admiring the Christmas trees at the mall. Though of course, we do have other traditions. Like on winter solstice, we eat tangyuan, which is sort of like mochi in a soup (it tastes really good btw).

Have any of you ever came up with super good story ideas but just don't have the time or commitment to write it?

That story sounds so cool, Moon Wolf :D The idea of a Princeps Mundi is cool! I'd love to read an excerpt (only if you're comfortable with sharing ofc :D)

Yesss rap debate battles are so good! :D And no, I haven't seen their Tiny Desk concert! I'll definitely check it out when I get a chance! :D

Oh, it's so cool you're in choir, WiLdSoNg! I don't really sing--I don't have the talent nor guts for it XD I sing along badly to songs in the car, though, does that count?? :P

And thanks! I like the names of your cats, too! Mira is such a cute name :)

(Also, congrats on your bat mitzvah, WiLdSoNg :D)

I also celebrate Christmas. Our family doesn't have any particularly interesting traditions--we usually go to a Christmas Eve party some friends host, but it's still pretty fun :)

YES I totally get that, Moon Wolf! Finding time to write isn't as much of a problem for me, so more of a commitment issue :/ Like I had this one idea for a fun sci-fi story--just something really lighthearted and funny, because I usually write heavier stuff--and while I was really excited for it, I kind of just...lost motivation around 2000 words :/ I should try to get back to that, though... What about you guys? And do you have any strategies for staying motivated/finding time to write?

Yeah, your story sounds really awesome! How far into it are you?

I like singing. I'm not very good but that's okay. :D And of course singing in the car counts! My little brother, who's ten, likes to sing on the way to school at 7:15 every morning! It drives me crazy! But sometimes it's cute! Do either of you have siblings?

I also sing in theater. My school is doing a production of Legally Blonde (terrible show by the way) and I have a solo! Do you do theater?

Thank you! My bat mitzvah was a lot of fun, even all the preparation and learning that went into the year before.

So I probably don't have very good advice for writing. Im very bad at staying committed to ideas. Like for instance I'll get a really good idea and get super excited about it but a week or two later I won't like it or I'll forget about it. Also, I had a bunch of really awesome writing on my last google drive but when I switched schools they didn't give me any time to save any of it! So it's all deleted and gone. Very very sad.

My advice for writing is probably to write a bit each day, maybe reserving ten minutes. You can always edit later if you don't like it, but it will force you to keep thinking about your story and trying new directions.
