Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Heart wrenching quotes
Okay, so I...

Okay, so I was just reading WOF for the third time or so and I came to this sentence:

I did it. I told her. And the world didn't collapse.

And I be like OH MY GOSH THREAD YUS so here's this thread for the posting of little tidbits of books that make you go "Awwwww, so sweeeet!" inside. Please say which books they are from. :)

OH MY GOSH, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE A TALE OF TWO CITIES! Our whole class read it in ninth grade and all the girls literally fell in love with Sydney Carton. We still freak out at the mention of his name a year later :P

It is such a great book!

Omigosh, heart-wrenching quotes are my favorite! This is gonna sound really weird, but somehow, I feel like books that are meant for younger children are somehow more philosophical/deep/HEART-WRENCHING that many books I read that are YA or meant for teenagers... I dunno, but Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh have the BEST quotes... omigosh, here are a few.

"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it. ~ Peter Pan (who else did this one make cry? Just me?)

"So come with me where dreams are born and time is never planned." ~ Peter Pan again

"Never say goodbye, because goodbye means going away, and going away means forgetting." ~ Peter Pan (so sad...)

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you." ~ Winnie the Pooh (this one melted my heart... so sweet... Winnie the Pooh was a philosopher without realizing it!)

" 'How do you spell love?' - Piglet

'You don't spell it; you feel it.' - Winnie the Pooh"

"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart and I'll stay there forever." ~ Winnie the Pooh

...and so many more, but I have to go now! Do yourself and favor and look up Peter Pan/Winnie the Pooh/Children's book quotes... you'll thank yourself for it because they are SO adorable and sweet!!!

“He lifted the lavender soap to his hair, and she squeaked.

“You don’t use that in your hair,” she hissed, jolting from her perch to reach for one of the many hair tonics lining the little shelf above the bath. “Rose, lemon verbena, or …” She sniffed the glass bottle. “Jasmine.” She squinted down at him.

He was staring up at her, his green eyes full of the words he knew he didn’t have to say. Do I look like I care what you pick?”  ―  Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows

“From tears to sass in a few minutes. I'm glad the month apart hasn't dimmed your usual good spirits.”

“... As Lorcan stared down at Lysandra, his blood-splattered face impassive. "Out of the way, shifter."

Lysandra had held up a slender hand- and Lorcan paused. The shape-shifter pressed her other hand against her stomach, her face blanching. But then she smiled and said, "You forgot to say 'please.' "

Lorcan's dark brows flattened. "I don't have time for this." He made to step around her, shove her aside.

Lysandra vomited black blood all over him.

Rowan didn't know whether to laugh or cringe as Lysandra, panting, gaped at Lorcan, and at the blood on his neck and chest. Slowly, too slowly, Lorcan looked down at himself.

She pressed a hand over her mouth. "I am-so sorry-"

Lorcan didn't even step out of the way as Lysandra vomited on him again, black blood and bits of gore now on the warrior and on the marble floor.”

“Where is Aelin? Where is my wife?”

― Sarah J. Maas, Empire of Storms

“Why," he asked. "Why did you save her?"

She dragged a hand through her hair. [...]

"Because that golden-haired witch, Asterin ...," Aelin said. "She screamed Manon's name the way I screamed yours.”

Hey, @Admins? We're not allowed to post links to places other than the CB, correct? So then... why did Tyberious Firestone's links in their comment on this thread for Sara J. Maas' books go through? I clicked on them, and they're a link to Goodreads.com.

That was pure oversight, they have been removed. You are correct, outside websites should not be linked in posts. --Admin

Okay, this first one may not exactly be heartwrenching, but it's SO funny. XD These are all from The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

"They're not hideous," said Tessa.

Will blinked at her. "What?"

"Gideon and Gabriel," said Tessa. "They're really quite good-looking, not hideous at all."

"I spoke," said Will in sepulchral tones, "Of the pitch-black inner depths of their souls."

Tessa snorted. "And what colour do you suppose the inner depths of your soul are, Will Herondale?"

"Mauve," said Will.

~~

"Tess. Tess. Tessa.

Was there ever a more beautiful sound than your name? I would have chosen death for a chance to tell you the truth. At last, I am free. You are the first dream of my soul.

With hope at last,

Will Herondale"

~~

"It was books that made me feel as if I wasn't completely alone.

-Will Herondale"

Okay... so I may be a little obsessed with Will at the moment. ;)

"Step follows step

Hope follows courage

Set your face towards danger

Set your heart on victory

Victory for Bammare."

Ah. I love this quote. So much. It might be my favorite book quote ever.

Ok, so I read this book that I don't recommend for people 9-, but it had the best quote:

You were like the sun, and I was crashing into you.

Beautiful.

"I don't matter."- Keeper of the Lost Cities.

And pretty much anything Liam says to Ruby in Never Fade, book two of the Darkest Minds series. Here's an example: “I feel like I'm losing my d*** mind, like your face has been carved into my heart, and I don't remember when, and I don't understand why, but the scar is there, and I can't get it to heal. It won't go. I can't make it fade. And you won't even look at me.”  and “I think I'm losing it—I don't know what's happening, what happened, but I look at you, I look at you, and I love you so much. Not because of anything you've said, or done, or anything at all. I look at you, and I just love you, and it terrifies me. It terrifies me what I would do for you.” and this scene:

“I can't--I can't think about anything or anyone else," he whispered. A hand drifted up, dragging back through his hair. "I can't think straight when you're around. I can't sleep. It feels like I can't breathe--I just--"

"Liam, please," I begged. "You're tired. You're barely over being sick. Let's just... Can we just go back to the others?"
"I love you." He turned toward me, that agonized expression still on his face. "I love you every second of everyday, and I don't understand why, or how to make it stop--"
He looked wild with pain; it pinned me in place, even before what he had said registered in my mind.
"I know it's wrong; I know it down to my d*** bones. And I feel like I'm sick. I'm trying to be a good person, but I can't. I can't do this anymore.”

And sweet lord of mercy it makes me want to cry every time I re-read the book. It's so darn good though. I could actually keep going on and maybe find a quote on every page of the book.

Éponine's last words from Les Misérables (the book by Victor Hugo, not the musical):

"And then, do you know, Monsieur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you."

Sorry if the translation isn't exact – I would have written it in French but CB rules don't allow and also I don't know if any of you speak French. I think, as far as quotes go, that one is pretty heart wrenching.
