Well, good job to both DoodleGirl and Lupine. You both get a prize! Book #1 was indeed the Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, yet another series that I really need to read again.

Here's one! I really like this book and just re-read it for like, the hundreth time. I feel like it would be super easy to guess though... so I'm making it as vauge as possible.

~~~~~~
It's about a young girl who gets turned old by an evil witch, so she leaves the hat shop she works in to try and find her fortune.
She ends up becoming a cleaning lady for a wizard who is rumored to eat young girl's hearts and take their souls.
(This is where the plot kind of shoots off in a thousand different directions...)
She makes a bargin with a fire demon to break the contract between the demon and the wizard.
The wizard is trying to escape from a curse the evil witch sent after him, and in doing so ended up having the cruse come true.
During all of this the king of the land comissioned the wizard to find the king's brother, the prince. The wizard manages to find the prince, but does it in a rather backwards way. He attempts to not find the prince, but ends up doing so anyways...
And of course, the girl breaks the contract between the fire demon and the wizard. She breaks the curse on her and falls in love with the wizard.
~~~~~~

Allright, any of you know what this book is?

Howl's Moving Castle! I am ashamed to say that I've only watched the movie (which was really good) but I want to read the book.

1) Two English girls who go to boarding school find a teacher's dead body on the gym floor one evening. When they bring someone back to look, the body is gone. They form a "society" and set out to find who did it.

2) A girl and her friend leave their moutain town on a search when the girl's grandmother is taken by the emperor's army because she is the storyteller. They meet some characters who are not what they seem, take a trip to the Sea Bottom, and ride a dragon horse on the frozen sea.

3) Four kids are chosen for a contest. Each has their own reason for being there and all of them have secrets. A spy, the afterworld, and a desire for revenge based on a toy truck and a vat of chocolate. They must join together to save something that has become important to all of them. At the end, they have become good friends.

Is the first one Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie? Most of it seems to fit, although I don't remember the girls who found the body having a society. I might be forgetting something, though.

1. An eleven year old girl with red hair is adopted by two siblings, kind of on accident. She manages to get herself into all sorts of weird situations, but they can't help loving her. And she's VERY particular about how you spell her name.

2. A red haired girl was born into royalty, but she hasn't developed the special gift that marks the kingdom's rulers. She discovers a recipe to make herself fire resistant and uses it. Together, she and her horse conquer dragons plaguing the kingdom.

(I'm realizing both of those summaries had red haired girls.... this one won't)

3. A family with four parents, four pets and seven children named after trees is perfectly happy. But when one grumpy old grandfather moves in (nicknamed "Grumps" by the kids) normal life... becomes not so normal. The third youngest child is sure this is bad- and she's going to do everything she can to stop it.

4. A 12 year old high school senior who can read minds is told she's an elf and she has to leave everything she knows and loves behind. She moves to the Lost Cities (the elvin cities) and settles into her new life.... ish. She gets kidnapped with her friend and manifests new abilities. What next?

(okay that was a really bad and random summary but I couldn't think of another way to put it)
