Happy pride month everyone! I'm considering coming out as AroAce to my Dad (I've already come out to my mom and sibling), but he's... not the most accepting. He's not homophobic, he's just really ignorant. My sibling came out to him as nonbinary, and he didn't even know what that was. He might not even believe me (or believe that being AroAce is real). I think I'm going to try anyway, though, because I'm tired of hiding and he is trying to be better and more supportive, so maybe it'll go better than I think. He's on a business trip right now, and I'm going to come out when he come back. I'll update y'all on how that goes after it happens.
But anyway, happy pride! I love each and every one of you and there is nothing you can do to change that.

happy pride month lizards! the CB has really opened my eyes to the LGBTQIA+ community and has helped me become a better person and ally. thank you for that <3 hoping everyone has a great month!!
Happy Pride, Chatterbox!!! I love this thread. It's amazing how many other people the CB helped discover and accept their own and others' LGBTQ+ identities.
I know I said I was out irl last year, and technically I was to a few people, but this is the first year I've felt somewhat comfortable talking about it. A lot of that I owe to having queer friends irl and going to an awesome school that's as accepting and diverse as it is here. Those spaces really do exist, guys!
I still ID as biromantic, but I've recently been thinking I might be ace-spec?
And here's my AE Fauna decked out in bi pride gear! Don't mind the unfinished arm, I'm working on a full picture with the other two ;D

Oh my actual gosh, that is so amazing!!! The shading and lighting is so soft and smooth, and the shadows on the fabric look so realistic :D I envy your ability to draw humans aaaaaa

OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS I DID IT I ACTUALLY CAME OUT TO MY DAD! It went... pretty much as I'd expected, honestly, and since I want to talk to someone about it, I'm just going to dump the semi-long story of it on y'all. Be warned. I came out by showing him a little painting I had done of a sunset that was also the AroAce flag (I attached a picture below). I was like, "look at this cool thing I made!" and he looked at it for a second and said, "Oh, it's a sunset!", and I said, "Yes... and it's also the AroAce flag. Because I am AroAce." I had to explain to him what that meant (not surprised in the least), and then he just looked at me with a confused smile and said, "But you're way too young to know that!" To which I gritted my teeth and calmly explained that no, actually, that's wrong. He proceeded to demonstrate several of the usual stereotypes, like asking "Why?" (as if being AroAce was a choice) and joking (at least I think he was joking) that he'd thought maybe he just needed to give me more vitamin D or something (as if being AroAce is something that can or should be fixed). I calmly pointed out where he was wrong, at which point he got defensive and played the "Well you can't blame me I'm still new to these ideas" card. I half heartedly said something like, "well, at least you're trying", and he nodded, clearly quite proud of himself, and I just fixed a smile on my face as he commented on a couple unrelated things in my room and then left.
Soooooo yeah, that just happened. I kind of expected him to be that ignorant, and even if he's being a tad asinine about it, I'm glad he knows so I can avoid any awkward boyfriend/dating conversations. Plus I just feel good about getting it out there.

Congratulations! :D I'm glad it went at least semi-well lol. It's annoying when people don't really understand, but I'm glad you could at least get it off your chest. :)
I think I'm going to draw some more kawaii animals as pride flags soon, and I think I'll make an aro one and an ace one (and/or an aroace one lol). I'm not aroace, but I really want more representation out there for those who are. :)
