Reunion thread! Hey

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Reunion thread! Hey

Reunion thread! Hey everybody! Valentine's Day is coming up in less than a week. Some of you already know this, but if you don't, February 14 is a day for old CBers to come back and say hi. I know I'm a little early, but I wanted to make sure there was a centralized place for old CBers to pop up so that we're not spread across eight threads in all corners of the CB. I'll post a longer, more personal hello once this gets posted, but I wanted to leave the intro pretty short so that we don't all have to scroll through it.

Also, just so it's clear: I'm the one posting this thread, but it isn't my thread! It's just a centralized place for CBers new, old, and somewhere in between to reunite. Feel free to add your own hello's, no matter if you're a visiting or current CBer. See you on Valentine's Day! :)

Hi! Gosh, it's been months since I've been on here. I suppose I never "officially" left. It feels nice that things here have just been . . . Moving on, like I have been moving on with my life. I won't be coming back but I'll be posting more today.

so great to see y'all again! :D

Hey, hi, hi guys! Wow, it's been forever. It's great to see so many familiar faces!

For those of you who don't know/remember me, hello, as you can see from my name box, I'm Leeli. I joined Kyngdom sometime around late 2015/early 2016 and started posting on the CB in March 2016. I never officially left, but I started to drift away around 2019-2020, and have been for the most part inactive since. I've heard that among the newer generation of CBers, I'm somewhat famous for my greatest achievement: the Random Thoughts/Things thread.

Among other news, I'm 18 now! Yeah, I'm old. I've never been very okay with getting older, but I'm starting to get used to it. I have my drivers license and I'll be graduating high school this spring and going to college in the fall.

Man, I’m so nostalgic right now. This place was such a big part of my childhood. At a time in my life when I was facing a lot of changes without a lot of friends, I found a community here. I found a safe place to express myself, to make friends, to explore my creativity, and to grow up. I’ll never forget the hours and days I spent here. They shaped part of who I am. It’s always a little bittersweet coming back after a long time away, but it always makes me happy knowing that this community is still here, and that there are so many new people enjoying it, and that it’s always here for us oldies to come back to once in awhile. It will always feel a little bit like home.

I’ll be sticking around for a few days to chat. Love y’all <3

Hi, Leeli! I don't know if you remember me, but I remember talking with you and seeing you around during the end of my time here. I definitely know your random thoughts thread - it seems like it's on the front page every year when I come back, haha.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation and receiving your driver's license! I'll never be able to drive (disability), so you'd better drive enough (and safely!) for the both of us.

It's wonderful to see that you're still around in some capacity and enjoying this fantastic community. Good to see you again!

Ruby!! Of course I remember you! It's great to see you around again :)

Thank you! I'm sorry you won't be able to drive. :/ You can drive vicariously through me haha XD And congrats to you too on your upcoming graduation!

Your job and outreach sound incredible, btw. It's so cool that you've gotten to work with kids. It sounds like you've impacted a lot of lives, which is awesome.

Oh my gosh it's so amazing to see all of these CBers! I've been very inactive for the past...lots of months lol.

I'm Honeybee, just for anyone who I don't know very well, pronouns she/her (probably). I love this amazing community so much and it's awesome to see everyone! :D <3

Hello Chatterbox! Gosh it's been a long time. I'm Rogue, I joined about 5 years ago. I also used to be Silent Shadow Walker, who left a bit more recently than I did, pfft. Probably forgotten by now. Maybe I'll come back for a while though. ^v^

I first joined with Kyngdom (which I'm going to go check out in a bit. Oh I hope it's not completely dead Cry) and built up from there. I can assure you I've become a MUCH better writer since then lolll.

I am female but any pronouns are fine, I don't really care.

Hi Rogue! It's great to see you here again--you and Viola were pretty much the first two people to really ever interact with me back when I first joined Kyngdom. (Goodness, that was a long time ago. I still remember Piiri, haha.) Anyways, here's to hoping everything's been going well for you.

Hello everyone!

I'm St.Owl, though I tend to go by Coulson now. I joined the CB in January 2015 - my seven-year CBversary was a few weeks ago! -  and started fading off of it in 2018-2019 or so. I never officially left, and I do check in pretty regularly even now. I got to meet a lot of you (well, I suppose this was two years ago in and of itself, so perhaps many aren't present CBers anymore) on YWP in 2020, and I've posted a few times under different names, but I mostly just lurk these days. The Art Posting Thread is still a consistent source of inspiration for me - you all are so creative and skilled!

The CB was so important to me when I was active here. Roleplays were of course far and away my favorite part, and I owe so much to the CB for keeping me writing consistently all that time. I grew so much and learned so much about how to write just from that. The CB was a source of friendship when I didn't have anyone to turn to IRL, and it holds a special place in my heart for that to this day. The people I'm still in contact with from the CB are now some of my closest friends.

As for what's up with me . . . I'm seventeen now, a few months away from graduating high school and earning my Associate's degree! I'm in that excrutiating middle stage between having turned in college applications and finding out where I've been accepted. Regardless of where I end up, though, the plan is to major in classics (the study of the ancient Mediterranean world). I've taken Latin for four years now and absolutely fallen in love with it, and I started taking Ancient Greek this year! (I'm awful at it presently, but hey, at least I can read out loud.) I've also gotten really into queer theory, so I'm hoping to do a minor/certificate in gender and sexuality studies. (surprise! I'm trans.) Outside of academics, I've gotten really into D&D, which seems to be a theme; I'm a player in one and DM the other. The CB prepared me well for the collaborative storytelling aspect!

I'm so happy to see so many familiar faces returning, and I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of y'all!

Hi, Coulson, good to see you again! I don't think we ever talked a ton, but I remember seeing you around, so it brought a smile to my face to see you here. Congratulatons on your upcoming graduation and on coming out!

Studying ancient languages is beyond cool. You can do so much with a classics degree, so I wish you the best of luck and hope that your joy of languages stays with you for life. What's something you've read in Latin or Ancient Greek that you really enjoyed?

I remember seeing you around, too, Ruby! It's nice to see you again! Your ski lodges of course have such staying power, but the fondest memory I have of you is when you joined an RP of mine. (some kind of magical creature school?) Your character was a kappa and you wrote a few posts from their perspective, and I remember being absolutely agog at how well-written and creative it was. It sounds like you're putting that skill to good use now!

Likewise, congratulations on your graduation! And thank you! You can do so much with a classics degree - and so little, unfortunately! I'm still figuring out exactly what I want to do once I get my BA, but I have plenty of time to decide.

As far as Latin poetry goes, my favorite has to be Catullus 51. I did a translation of it for my Latin final fall semester of last year, and that's some of the most fun I've had with a project in a while. The poem is beautiful, and, as I'm sure you're familiar with, translating is a really rewarding task. I've also been discovering a semi newfound love for Ovid; we read quite a bit of the Metamorphoses last semester, and putting him in conversation with Sappho has really highlighted both his status as a master storyteller and a genre chameleon in a time when that was relatively unheard of. I'm hoping to write my graduation project in part about the women in the Metamorphoses!

(Clode - there's a name I haven't written in a while - says cedit! He's catching the Latin buzz too, it seems.)
