Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

The Longest Thread

The Longest Thread EVER!!!!

Let's make a mission to make the longest thread in CaC EVER! I think we just need to get more than 144 posts right now. We'll need lots of different themes to talk about to keep this thread from dying, but I think we can do it, right? I mean, that's why this is called the CHATTERbox, isn't it? :-)  Okay, then. Ready? Set?

GO!!!

P.S. Let's try to do CaC first, and if we accomplish our goal, we can do other sections, okay? Good. Now let's get chatting!!!

That's a great idea! I think a lot of us have things to say that don't merit individual threads, and this would be a great way to remedy that.

I should probably also say something a bit more constructive, so... Did you know that people are sending baby squids into space soon? That's probably something that should go on DtE, but it was all I could think of.

Hey, if they were to send squids into space, how would they survive? Because once they got into space, the water in their tank would kinda float out, right? So they would die. Poor squidies. I'm sad because I'm a vegetarian....Cry

Oh, no, don't worry, it's not like that. I'd feel the same way as you if I didn't know the details; I love squids. But they're being careful. The squids will be in tanks on the space shuttle that I suppose are sealed so that the water doesn't float out, because they must have thought of that.

Yikes! That is crazy! I hope they don't die up there. While we're on the topic of space...have you ever met a real astronaut? I have! It was awesome! Her name was Barbara Morgan and she went to the International Space Station. I met her when we went to NASA on our vacation to Florida.

Luckily, they're going to treat the squids well. They're replicating their natural conditions as well as they can. They're mainly sending them to see whether microgravity has any effect on their shape and a few other developmental things.

I never have met an astronaut, which is kind of a pity, because I certainly could if I put some actual effort into it. I live in the Houston area, you see.

Speaking of space, what are everyone's opinions on the possibility of extraterrestrial life? I think there's probably some out there, but I don't know how complex it'll be. I do think it's probably very strange and unlike what we have here on earth, and certainly not green people. I plan to read a couple of books about it soon; they look fascinating.

There! This conversation doesn't belong on DtE at all anymore; we're not talking about the world around us; we're talking about what's around our world! ;)

Why would you choose squids, of all animals, to go to space?

That's weird!  This is a good idea, Jess! XD I really don't know what to talk about though and I don't know much about outerspace and squids...;)

I feel like talking on CaC now. This thread is a really great idea, and I wanna contribute. Exactly, why squids?! I mean, squids are sooo high maintnence. I mean, with chimps, they are so much easier to have! But with squids, you have to have fresh water, water, food, and they can't have freeze dried food because when it goes in the water for the squid to eat it, it might get like wet or something. I dunno about space food. Excpet that it's gross.

Has anyone else ever had space food? I had some at our Science Museum, and it was really gross. The only avaible food was ice cream, and I'm sure that's not the only thing they eat at space. Space is sooo pretty!

Does anyone else have braces? I just got some on Thursday and they really hurt. I'm wearing my head gear right now and it really hurts. I have an over bite and an over ject.

Sorry if I was rambling, I just wanted to have a wide variety of conversation :D LET'S KEEP THIS THREAD GOING!!!!!!

Oh, and yes, I've braces. Don't worry; they only hurt for a few days. Unfortunately, I also have to wear 2 rubber bands, though not for as long.

I have braces! I got the top ones on last summer and couldn't eat anything except mashed potatoes and smoothie for three days straight. It also felt incredibly weird, like I'd grown another set of teeth. Then I got my bottom set in...January, I think. It wasn't as bad as the first time, but it still hurt a lot. i don't have to have to have headgear though.

As a random thought, I'M GOING TO BE OLD ENOUGH TO GET MY DRIVING PERMIT THIS FALL!!!

(sorry)

Spammy says umoh. Like he didn't get something, and the he did so he said, "Um...Oh."

I think you gotta beat higher than that if you look on DtE.

They're sending squids because some bacterium or something grows on them that affects their shape and color, and it can't survive in outer space, so they want to see what happens. At least, that's the impression I got.

Personally, I'm against sending chimps into space. With squids, well, their natural conditions are going to be reproduced very well, so I don't think they'll be particularly unhappy, if squids can be unhappy (I think they can; do you?), but when chimpanzees were sent, they weren't given any comforts except those necessary for survival, and it was all because people were too afraid to go themselves--which is fine, but I think their reaction to it isn't--so they forced others who could be easily controlled to do it instead, against their will. It's made even worse because chimps are extremely intelligent and certainly seem to be able to experience a wide range of emotions. It just doesn't seem right at all.

No, I've never eaten space food.

I've never eaten space food either! It doesn't sound edible... When I become a famous chef, I think I'll make better food for them! ;)

@ZB-- My friend just got braces and she said they only hurt for a little while. What do you mean by head gear? And what's an Over ject?

I am also against sending chimpanzees into space. And Ima, I do believe squids have squiddy feelings :)!

Speaking of the famous chef, what do you guys want to be when you grow up to be an adult? I have a long list: artist, clothing designer, architect, author, historian, chef, french teacher... Anyway, I hope we get over 144 posts!!!!

I want to be an ethologist (someone who studies animal behavior). I'd prefer to specialize in a specific species, preferably a rare one so that I could try to find information that could help it, but I don't know exactly what yet.
