Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

THE ASK ADMIN

THE ASK ADMIN THREAD!!!!!!

Ok, so there are tons of threads made to ask Admin a particular question. I thought: why doesn't someone just make ONE thread for ALL the questions? So, here it is!

My first question: Can't the Admins make some sort of search thing inside this website so that we can look for a certain thread? Because I was going to revive several, and they got stuck somewhere between the page they were on and the first page. I don't really feel like looking through all the pages again...

=^..^=

Our Webmaster knows that a Search function has been requested, but we are a small staff with many other things to do to publish all our magazines and maintain all our Web sites. It's unlikely we'll get to a Search engine anytime soon, if ever. I think a few years ago a Chatterboxer figured out how to search via Google with Cricket Chatterbox plus a specific theme in the search field. I don't know if that would still work now because there are many more threads on Chatterbox, and many with similar themes, that there were two years ago. I'm sorry we can't be more encouraging about this.

I put a post on the Inkwell a few days ago, and it hasn't shown up. I know you're busy and all that, but usually by now it would have shown up. The thread's about my story ideas. Hope you can help!

We've posted everything from then, except we deleted one that contained a lot of illustrations with no credits. I remember posting a list of story ideas from someone, asking for comments, esp. from TNO. And I remember posting TNO's response to it, too. Was it that one? If so, it's posted. You just have to hunt. If it's not on a top page, try the very back or near the back pages.

Admin, when we play the game of having secret identities and then making our friends figure out who we really are, can you tell who's who by somehow knowing which computer the masked person wrote off of? I hope you just understood that it's hard to explain.

Spammy says: viad, which if you say the word aloud, sounds like 'weird' with an accent.

I understand you, and the answer is no. We don't see email addresses or any computer ID. We only see the comments that we post and what the sender puts for Name, Location, and Age.

The correct term for such an identification is an IP (Internet Protocol) address. It's a long string of numbers that represents an Internet network. For example, the IP address I am writing off of is 50.200.10.214.

Some sites have complicated programs that reveal the IP addresses of the users, but this is not one of them.

Do you ever delete old threads that nobody has even LOOKED at for several years? I mean, not ones that are kind of still clinging to life, but you have a traffic stats thingy, right? If you notice that a certain thread has only one or two posts from several years ago, and there are not any people even looking at them anymore, would you delete them?

Could you delete them? I'm only really bringing this up because I've been noticing that the DTRA has been a liiiiiitle undercover lately, and that when I go to check the back pages for new threads, I see that the number of old pages is around 200 for the Inkwell, and more for other ones.

So far, we haven't deleted any old threads that I'm aware of. That's part of the value of the Internet. Storage space is infinite.

Hey Admin,

Since you mentioned you are a small staff, is there anything that an ordinary somebuggy could help you with?

Send letters to Cricket's Letterbox, book reviews to Cricket Readers Recommend, Favorite First Sentences, and enter our Cricket League contests. Thanks for asking.

Admins, the problem whenever you go to the page, it's all jumbled up, is still with me. Help?

I don't know how to fix it, but I've forwarded your message to our webmaster, who fixed the problem last time.

There's this RP that I really like and I'm a part of it. It is somewhat old. Whenever I post on it saying TOP it doesn't go any further up, why is that?

Here's a link.

I have no idea why threads do or do not move. Sorry.

Admins, I have a post called HP quotes that showed up for a minute, then it just disappeared. I wrote it over a day ago. Do I need to write it again?

It should be somewhere. Look on the back pages.
