Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Æ ball!
Honored Guests,
It is my deepest and most utmost pleasure to introduce you to the Ballroom resort or, as the staff affectionately calls it, the triple F. Here, you will find three, spectacular buildings, Fun, Fashion, and Fantasy, surrounding our magnificent ballroom. The fun building, for the Æs who are wild, light of heart, and maybe even a bit crazy, is shaped like an enormous bouncy house, and is filled with cake, pie, balloons, "kandy", and anything that an Æ could desire. If an Æ wishes for a bouncy, frilly, flaming, or otherwise Æish outfit, all they have to do is shout their request up the bubble chimny, and it will come falling down in a bag that, for no reason in particular, is fat and jolly. The fantasy castle, made of crumbling stone, soaring towers, and fancy turrets, is a dream come true for the Æs who choose to be knights, dragons, princesses, merry men, enchantresses, or whatever fantasy form you might endeavor to go to the ball as. Filled with fairy godmothers who are ready to conjure up the outfit of your dreams, give makeovers, and gossip, all at the snap of your fingers, is for those who, at heart, are wild, free, and adventures. Yet there are other still who feel compelled towards the fashion building, a tall, modern, steel and a glass round skyscraper that looms impressively into the sky. The interior is comfortable, sleek, and modern, with cloth, thread, sequins, beads, and buttons brimming in multicolored splendor in a closet behind a door in every bedroom. It is for the Æs who with to express their unique personalities through their fabulous clothing, whether that means going to the ball as a diva or an alien.
And then, finally, there is the ballroom. A great, white marble structure, fashioned after the Roman collosium. (Plus a roof) On ball nights, it is lit up with floating lanterns that adorn every hallway. A huge feast is set up in the banquet room, after which Æs will be directed to the main ballroom, to dance under the light of the lanterns.
On non ball days, the ballroom building is available for dancing and or etiquette lessons. You may attend these classes with or without your partner at your leasure.
Each of the buildings (excepting the ballroom) has a girls side and a boys side, and two grand staircases lead down from each side, meeting in a grand foyer. Each building has an extra set of rooms for your enjoyment. What these rooms contain is for you discover.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at the Triple F.
Sincerly,
         ~The Ballroom Master

Before I continue, let me just credit this idea to the "Shadow Worker", with his or her amazing Æ hotel.
Now, down to business.
I'm going to attempt to have the first ball in two weeks. We can start Friday night, and carry on through the weekend. So, everyone, I suggest you begin asking.
This is sort of like an rp; your Æs can explore the extra rooms, and you can invent what they hold, or you can just post on the day of the ball. It's all up to you.
Here's the character sheet. Have fun!

Sam~

I turn around super quickly and back against the
wall. It's funny how a big place like this can be enticing for one
second, and eerily terrifying the next. Each creaking foostep echoes
down throughout the castle. I hear them round the corner, and then—

"You're Sam?"

"Yes...Ma'am." I'm not sure why I added in the ma'am exactly, but her prescence seemed to demand it. The girl had perfectly tangled hair that fell around her condescending face. Somewhere amid the yellowy-gold strands was a tiny, glimmering tiara. Overall, she reminded me a bit of Verity from The Dragonfly Pool, except more regal. Look a me making comparisons to book characters, just like someone else I know. That's what comes from being Rose bud's AE.

"Well?" Says The Regal Verity, "when there is a crisis to be dealt with I expect teamwork amongst my subjects." Without even acknowledging my "ooookay," she turns and walks back up the hallway and down the stairs, head held high and back perfectly straight. I follow—with less confidecne, out of the castle and into the bright sunshine. In a tight pack, CBers and their Alter Egos talk amongst themselves anxiously. Someone seems to have formed an idea, and everyone is trying to figure out how to put it in motion. Rose bud sidles up to me, smiling as usual. Still angry at her, I look away, my eyes scanning the treeline. Something flutters seemingly just below the clouds. It looks like a beautiful white bird, but something is wrong. I can't put my finger on it, it just doesn't seem...alive, somehow. Of course, that's ridiculous. I say to myself. Nevertheless, I watch the bird's progress across the sky. Suddenly and silently, it dives, changing shape as it falls, until it crumples into a girl's hand. It's paper, I realize. Wow, what a trick. Only a true magician could pull of a stunt like that. The girl picks up the paper and reads it. Slowly, a smile spreads across her face, and she begins to illuminate a new plan, one that seems to involve Windwhistle, but not me. I inhale to breath a sigh of relief, but before I can finish, Rose bud raises her hand and volunteers me. I glare daggers at her.

"Behave you little imp," she hisses in a not-quite-mean sisterly way. I prepare a responce, but stop when I see her face; it looks more tired than usual. Seeing my look, she squeezes my hand.

"It will be good for you Sam! Trust me, having friends makes a big difference. Now I've got to go, okay? I'm sorry I can't stay with you, but tonight's Opening Night and i've got to—"

"Yeah, I know. I'll be fine. Hey," I add, "break a leg!" She smiles and diseapers into thin air, leaving behind three rose petals that drift for a few minutes in the wind before falling to the ground. Maybe she does really care about me after all.

We stand on the middle floor, looking around. "It's two bathrooms!?" Someone cries out. I look around at the two walls. "It is. Looks like the Girls is abandoned." I note. The door is boarded up, and there's caution signs all over.

I cut the boards and the door down with the fantasy sword I acquired for this mission. They fall to the floor loudly, and dust flies everywhere. "That's the GIRLS bathrooms!" Anna hisses. But I walk in. "It's not." I say. The group strides in--even Sam and his Pegasus fit in.

The room, inside, is dusty and lit with torches. The walls are old stone bricks, giving it an Indiana-Jones-Lost-Temple feel. And dominating the room is a dragon statue. It looks REAL, like a real dragon turned to stone. All it needs is color. I stretch my hand out at it and touch it, feeling every hand-carved scale and detail.

Where my hand touches it, frost appears, and then spreads until it's completely covered in Frost. And then a feminine voice fills the room. "Elevator going down." Who'dve thought that the entire room was an elevator?

We descend in silence, listening to elevator music for a while. And then we hear a steady "thump thump". As we descend, it gets louder.

And now a random post for the status of the wild Chilly.

These Imps are HORRIBLE!! They trapped me in a bouncy castle that FEELS soft, but is as strong as bedrock!! And then they put a sign on it like in a ZOO! "The Wild Chilly AE. Do not put your finger in the enclosure--she bites. Feeding hours at three, seven, and seven."

I HATE this! And THEN they mock my italic speech! So, eventually, I coated the inside of the bouncy castle with Ice, and are in the process of making furniture of ice, and little rooms out of ice. It's never boring here.

I haven't seen Bolton, but I heard a rumor that he might get put in a bouncy house next to mine with posters of all the people whose hearts were broken by him in it.

Bolton-

Urg. Trapped in a bouncy house. My only comfort is that pictures of Anna surround me; on the other hand, Beth's sorrowful face handsets me, staring mournfully out of blue eyes.

I worry about Anna. I promised her I'd be fine, but soon after the imps kidnapped me, I was knocked out. Just recently have I awakened.

I hope that the AE's and CBers rescue Chilly and I.

It's getting chilly in here. I'm cold. Hopeful king I won't freeze to death.

*hopefully, not hopeful King. XD, autocorrection.

Also, I have no idea where my other AE's (besides Bolton) and I are supposed to be.

~Anna

As the elevator/girl's bathroom descends, I feel a steady-eerily steady-beat, like a drumbeat- no, like a... like a heartbeat. I put my hand over my heart, and feel the beat, matching the thumping exactly. I swallow, unnerved, as the elevator comes to a stop. The door opens, and we all walk out.

We walk along the dirt hallway lit up with firefly lanterns, different colored doors on either side of us. There are people-no, they aren't people, but elves, fairies, pixies, gnomes, dwarves... all kinds of magical creatures. They stop when they see, us, gasping. I catch a small, amber-eyed maids whisper, "The Elevator! It's been used! It hasn't been used in centuries!" And another whisper back, "Yes, I can see that! Now run before that poisonous dragon comes to life like it always does when the elevator is used!"

And they run off, others following, a feeling of panic entering the hallway. Soon, the hallway is abandoned, only a few people still running away. Queenie stops a female gnome, "Just what is going on? Explain everything to me! What do you mean about that oh-so-poisonous dragon? TELL. ME. NOW!!!"

The gnome looks terrified out of her wits, but answers in a meek voice, "Ev'ry time that elevator is used, the dragon comes to life. There are many of them, one there, one by the chamber, and one by the Cannon, a sm'ller one to fit in the chest. Three of them, fire, poison, and ice. This one's poison. They come to life to prot'ct the Cannon from ab'vegrounders. Only their opposite can st'p them. Opp'site of poison's nicen'ss an' all that. Opp'site ice's fire, and opp'site fire's ice. Though it doesn't look like you've got fire 'mong you. Now, please, Ma'am, let me go!"

Queenie demands, "Where are you all going? You can't just leave us here! I am royalty! Take us to your safe place! I command you!"

"N-no, Ma'am, I re'lly can't Ma'am, please let m-me g-go, Ma'am! T-the dragons' coming! I-if you don't stay here to d'feat it, it'll destroy the whole world, not just the R'sort! P-please, Ma'am!"

Queenie grudgingly lets her go, and she tries to run away, but a gigantic roar stops her, and a cloud of purple dust rolls into her face, and she chokes, falling to the floor, her pudgy face turning purple, gasping, then she falls limp.

I stare at her, "Is she- is she- dead?"

Echosong looks at her for a while, "Yeah... I think so."

Frosty winces, "Well, to avoid more of this stuff, I think we should defeat that monster as fast as we can!"

I nod, "Y-yeah. We should. What did she say could defeat ice again? Was it... niceness? Kindness? Yes, I think it was something like that. Well, shouldn't we... take our nicest person and make that person defeat the dragon?"

"Yes, we should. And for the matter of chosing who it is, I think you're pretty nice, Anna. As well as my own sister Clarabeth." Burt says, looking at me, leaning against the wall.

I blink at him, "M-me?"

He nods, "Why not? You'll have Clarabeth here with you."

I gulp, looking around for help. Beth takes my hand and squeezes it, looking at everyone else, "Are-are you sure about this?"

Everyone nods, and we turn around together, looking back toward the elevator where the dragon was stirring, looking at each other, "We can do this."

Beth~

I take Anna's hand and squeeze it. It is up to us to defeat the dragons.

We step forward, closer to the dragon. One step at a time.

Behind me, Daisy screams. "No! No! I've already lost Bolton, I can't lose you too, Beth! No! Please!" She tries to rush up to me. Alexandra grabs her desperately.

"No!" She yells. "They're our only hope. Stop them, and we condemn the rest of the world! They have to do this!"

Daisy rounds on her so viciously that despite ourselves, Anna and I turn to watch.

"I notice it isn't YOU volunteering to do this! YOU haven't lost an AE yet! And yet, you're sacrificing one of mine, when I've already lost one! How dare you! Get your hands off me, I'm not letting Beth be killed by some dragon! I, unlike YOU, care about my AE's!"

By this time, Burt and Bombett are helping restrain Daisy. She's hysterical and wild; I've never seen her so desperate. Alexandra's eyes fill with tears.

"I AM volunteering one of my AE's, which is extremely hard! Anna is choosing to go, though, I am not making her! Beth is choosing to go, too, Daisy. We can't stop them. It would be selfish to. If they don't want to go, we can't make them. I care so, so much for my AE's. This is the hardest thing I've ever done."

They all turn and look at us. I can't help but stare at Daisy. Her dirty blond hair is falling over her face. Tears drop down her cheeks. "Beth..." She says beseechingly, in little more than a whisper. I swallow, shake my head, and face the dragon again, with Anna. We can do this.

(( Sorry if this was too controlling, too dramatic, or not supposed to happen. If you all want, this can be ignored. I also left off soon, because I frankly have no inspiration on how Beth and Anna are supposed to defeat a dragon. ))

I don't think the CBers are supposed to be going with their Æs. They're supposed to be fighting the Imps... And I don't know how Beth and Anna are supposed to defeat the dragon either. Maybe the can be immune to the poison because of their niceness and all that, and they can stab the dragon and kill it?

(September 25, 2016 - 10:37 am)

Oh. I thought the CBers were with the AE's. My bad.

Um, if our two AE's are so nice, they end up stabbing a dragon? Lol, yeah, they are sooo nice.

Maybe they make some sort of deal with the dragon, like giving it food or treasure or something? (Assuming they both speak Dragonese.)
