Riddles! Does anyone

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Riddles! Does anyone

Riddles! Does anyone have some good ones? I'm on this other site where they were telling riddles, and so I decided that we could do it on here too! Here's one:

Alice and Emily are twin sisters, but Alice is thirteen and Emily is three. How can this be?

If you need a hint, ask me because I have one!

Is the first one a saddle?  Or a whip?

No!!  It's a carriage/buggy/coach that horses drag around with humans in them!!  Am I right?!

I've got one:

Two mothers and two daughters go to a petstore

and buy three cats. Each female gets her own cat.

How is this possible?

Thank you Lena!!!  :D  And you are correct.  One KNIGHT, a queen and king went into the castle.

Wow, I really got that right? *does victory dance* But I was sure that the baby was correct when I saw those other posts right after I had made mine.

If you hadn't said that it should be said aloud, then I might not have gotten it. So maybe I'm not that brilliant.

Two mothers and two daughters went to the petstore,

but only three people actually went: a grandmother,

a mother, and a granddaughter. See, the grandmother

is the mother's mother (I'm trying not to be confusing),

that's one mother, then the mother is the granddaughter's

mother, that makes two mothers. Then the mother is also

a daughter (the grandmother's daughter, that is) and of

course the granddaughter is the mother's daughter. See,

two mothers, two daughters ;D

(Sorry. Tell me if that made any sense)

There are only three females: a woman, her daughter, and her granddaughter.

Grandmother, mother and daughter. I heard the same, except with men and fishing. (The mother is both a mother and daughter)

Here's a toughie:

What do people love more than life
And fear more than infinite strife
The poor own, the contented require
What all rich men desire
Who bachelors marry
What subjects make their kings carry
What misers buy and spendthrifts save
And all people carry from the grave?

1 bonus point to whoever gets it first!! :D

A variation of that riddle was in my book. It's nothing! I love that one.

Oh, and yes, it's coal and a candle....
