New Sydneton (NS),

Chatterbox: Inkwell

New Sydneton (NS),

New Sydneton (NS), for those who don't know, is a very large city with only a few really big schools. All our characters go to one school (high school) there is large rich part with few houses (loads of trees and wide, clean streets etc.) and very poor part that’s not so clean. There is a large lake (good setting for things) and the city's known for having so much stuff and people from around the world! Also it has a rather small mall and grocery store, because most of the town is taken up by touristy stuff.

Add more to the city if you like, it’s a free world. Wink

Here's my character:

Name: Heather Kimberly (nick name: Blue)

Gender: Girl

Nationality: Australia

Age: 15

Appearance: average high, long brown hair, small expressive eye brows and lips, large eyes, very thin, tan.

Characteristic:

Home: Good at school and with little kids, oldest out of seven children, does most of the work at home.

School: Sarcastic, rude to those below her in the pecking order, hangs out with only who she chooses, seems to like to tease

You’re free to make more than one character. This is free RP Laughing.

I stomped along the road in black knee-high boots and a yellow T-shirt, with loads of jewelry the teachers would freak out about. First day of year ten...goody. It hadn’t gone badly yet, even though my little brother had nearly hit me twice with a Weet-bix I hadn’t had to change clothes. “Heather!” I heard my best friends yell behind me.“Hey Stel.” I gave her a hug, and then continued walking.“Nice boots,” Stella said after a moment.“Good for the first day of school,” I agreed. Stella was looking pretty cool herself in ankle-high boots, a demi skirt and tiny, black, shiny top. The teacher would faint at the sight of us; they did every year. We had finished catching up by the time we reached the school gates. Walking straight through the year seven and eight area Stella and I smiled. "Perfect," we said, by looking at each other. Another start to a brand new year of staying high in the pecking order.

Tatiana-

It had been a terrible day. it started off like any other normal day, with teachers hating her and everything, but it went progressively downhill  when she laughed at Miss Carmon.......

"Class, I will show you how water stays in a bucket when you whirl it around really fast."

Miss Carmon started whirling the bucket around when she slipped on some unknown object, threw the bucket up in the air, landed on her back and got drenched in water. Naturally the whole class laughed, but quickly stopped when Miss Carmon glared at them. Exept Tatiana.

"Tatiana, you may go to the principal's office immediatly!" She furiosly scribbled something down on a piece of paper and handed it to her.

"You may come in now,Tatiana," Miss Grigs, the principal's assisstant said.

She went into the office sullenly.

"Have a seat,Miss Topezuwa."

"It's Topezuvjwa."

"Precisely." He read the note, then looked up sternly. " Now, Miss Topevuja, this is not good-

" It is Topezuvjwa. "

" - disturbing your teachers like this. They are here to help you. Now, I do realize, Miss Tozujawa, that Miss Carmon can be-

Tatiana stood up and practically screamed, " FOR THE LAST TIME, IT IS TOPEZUVJWA. NOT ANYTHING ELSE."

The principal stood up and said quietly," This will not help you,Tatiana. I realize Miss Carmon can be a bit over-the-top sometimes, but you would so well to heed her rules. Because of this, your only punishment is to come help me organize some files tomorrow. You may go now."

But she was going to make it all better, she decided, by helping her father take pictures of wildife-he was a wildlife watcher.

I'm going to use a lot of Irish slang, so bear with me.

Kate~

I hated this bloody school.

Every bleedin kid in this school hated me. All because I wasn't as rich as they were.

"'Ello Kate!" One particularly annoying boy named Kevin called from across the hall. "How's yer mudder doin' this fine day?" I hated when he imitated me.

"Shut yer bleedin' cakehole!" I snapped. Being from Dublin, I sometimes let my old slang slip out.

"Don't be titchy with me, Kate!" he said mockingly. "I'm just bein' friendly!"

"And if brains were dynamite, you wouldn't have enough to blow yer nose!" I yelled back.

"Ignore 'em, Kate," my friend Mary whispered. "They just think they're the cats pajama's because they're rich." I snorted and nodded. As they yelled after me, I hurried to my next class.

"Hello class," Miss Carmon said in her usual slightly mad voice. "Today, we're going to learn about how water stays in buckets!" She grabbed a bucket, spun around, and promptly landed on her rear-end, sloshing water all over herself. We all laughed, until she glared at us. Except one girl.

"Tatiana! Go to the office! Now!" she boomed angrily. The poor girl shrugged and hurried down the hall. I secretly wanted to applaud her, but I would get belted for that.

After a long day of classes, I finally headed home to our poor side of town. The streets were a dirty color, and everything was a dull grey.

"Mum! I'm home!" I called into the downstairs of our house, our shop. My mum was a seamstress, and she worked down here almost all 24 hours of the day. My da worked at construction, fixing rich people's houses. "Hello, darling. Check on yer sister an' brother, will ye?" I nodded and headed upstairs. "Kate!" my little siblings, Brianna and Sean, yelled excitedly. Brianna was still in second grade, and Sean wasn't even old enough to go to school yet. "Kate! Kate! Kate!" Brianna danced excitedly around me.

"Stop blathering, Brianna," I said wearily, even though I was secretly happy to see her. "I need to get ye somethin' te eat. Then I'm goin' out to the woods to do some drawin'."

"Can I come with ye, Kate? Please?" she begged. I shook my head. "No. I need to be by meself. I'll take ye to the park later." She cheered and jumped up and down.

An hour later, I headed to the woods with my sketchbook in my hands. I loved to draw. Someday, I wanted to become a world-famous artist. Of course, mum and da had other ideas. I was going to take over the shop when I was older. I hated sewing. Sighing, I sank down under a tree, and started to draw.

Eli-

"Read this section for class tomorrow, we will be writing summaries."  Not another book, I thought.  My back will be dead by the time I get back home. Thankfully, I ride the subway.  The three-hour trip would give me time to make a dent in my ever expanding load of homework.  If I worked fast, I could spend most of the time outside.  If I was lucky.  Most of the time, I have not been lucky.  Various things lead to living in a rundown apartment that was enclosed by brick and the air was choked with smoke from the cigarettes people smoked on the front stoop.  My friends at home didn't go to school, and I always had to hang out with them less during the school year.  Bummer.  The kids at school, on the other hand, totally ignored me and thought I was a bum, or something.  I don't have a lot of friends at school.

A Russian girl stomped past me and went into the principal’s office. I think I’d seen her before, but she could only be in year seven. I walked on to my next class wondering how lunch would go. . . . “Hey girlfriend,” a girl called like a movie star.“Hey Mo,” I laughed, “nice to see you too.” “I right,” she snickered, “it like forever.” “Stop, stop!” Stella gasped, “It’s just so awful!” “I know right,” Mo laughed, well it was Molly really, but she thought Mo was so much cooler. “Just stop okay,” Stella groaned, “because if you don’t shut up, I’ll get a jock to do it for me.” Mo stop straight away, she always had a crush on some jock, change it every month or so. “Come on,” I said, “we’ve got double maths.” “Goody,” Stella and Mo cried. . . . I jumped on the bus, leaving Mo and Stella behind and sighed. Freedom. It hadn’t been bad but acting like everything was okay was hard on any girl. Stella knew, but Mo and the others didn’t, and expected me do be the Queen bee. I flopped against the window, glad I could IM Stella later and give her an update. I couldn’t live without that girl.

Eli-

The first day back was stressful, although at least I do have enough sense to shut up when the teacher gives you "The glare."  I went to the subway stop across the park, hoping to breathe in some real air, like they had back up in Maine.  Of course, New Sydneton can't beat Vinalhaven, but the park is the closest thing.  I saw the Irish girl, Kate, while I strolled through the park, inhaling as much as I could before I headed back to smog.  She was leaned against a tree, drawing, it seemed.  The only reason I knew Kate was because she was the other person who Kimberly (I refuse to be on a first name basis with her) picked on.

When I got back home, I slugged off my messenger, papers scattering everywhere like feathers from a broken pillow, and ran outside to try and find Jess and Brinna in the maze of alleys and buildings.  It does help that Ethan always yells "WaaaaaaalllllBalllllll!"  When I found them, along with my buddies, I slammed the Ball into the ground, pretending it was Kimberly's make up bag.  I could just hear the screams.

Blaire-

Ugh. School. Most. Boring. Thing. Eva. I don't see why they have to cage us up inside just sittin here while we could be outside doing something athletic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear ya. Education ith important....whatever.

Or, for instance, we could go to art class, which, I guess, would be better than anything right now.

As the teacher drones on, I am pretending to take notes, while planning my afternoon.

Let's see-

First, I'll do math homework, run around the block, play on the Wii. Then, I'll clean my room, do more homework, and find that money that I lost yesterday. And then I'll probably have a snack or something. Yup. This is usually how classes go. Can you guess that I don't get straight A's....

..............................................................

Wow. I just totally turned my character into an athletic, sarcastic person. Hmmm, maybe Blaire's in a bad mood today.....Can you tell that I'm new at this?

Sirius~
I hurry down the hallway, notebook in hand, eager to get out of the hallways. A boy with thick blond hair, Zak, bars my path.

"Look," he sneers, "It's the world-famous author."

"Off to write some poems?" another boy asks. He dramatically flourishes a hand. "About a girl, perhaps. You beautiful girl in the garden of love, whose voice is like a dove..."

"Sirius is a poet, he doesn't know it, he's not afraid to show it..."

I roll my eyes. "If you tried to write a poem, nobody would be able to tell," I retort.

"If you played kickball with us instead of writing in your little diary, then you'd end up in the nurses office with a ball stuck up your nose!"

"It's a journal!" I hiss through my teeth.

"Oooh, touchy touchy..."

I turn away from them, wishing only to get away. I head to the dormitory, where my only friend is waiting: Kale Chernol.

"Just ignore them, Ember," he says comfortingly.

But I am not comforted, and, as I turn toward the wall and take out my journal, I wish I knew more people.

Kate~

After herding the kids home from the park, I checked in on mum and started fixing dinner for when da got back.  Serenaded by the shrieks of little kids, I got our usual dinner of potatoes and whatever else we could scrounge up. As I stirred the potatoes, I mentally went through my day.

9:00: Get picked on by Zac

11:30" Get picked on by that blathering girl with all  the lipstick

1:00: Get picked on by Kevin

3:00: Get picked on by some random person who has no reason to pick on me whatsoever

Yes, I had an amazing day.

The door slammed, and the loud clunk of heavy work boots filled the house. "Da!" Brianna and Sean shrieked and climbed into his arms. He gave them a weary smile and collapsed into a chair. "'Ello, darling. How was yer day?" I smiled and handed him his dinner. "All right. What about you?"  He shrugged and pried sean off him. "Well, I worked on a house for a family. A tiny dent in the roof.A girl who goes to your school I think...  I stopped. Only one girl would be so rich as to hire someone for that... Heather. Did she recognize my da? Will she tease me tomorrow? I swallowed and pretended to be calm. "Oh?" He nodded and went on about his day. I could only pray she wouldn't recognize him.

At 9:00, I went down to the shop. Mum was still at the machine. "Mum, go to bed. I'll do it.  Sheshool  her head."You 'ave school tomorrow." I shook my head and gently pushed her away from the machine. "No. You're more exhausted than I am." She finally nodded and moved. "All right, but be in bed by 11." As she shuffled upstairs, I grabbed a dress from our neverending pile and started patching up a dress. Some kids across the street were playing wallball for a while, and then finally stopped and headed home. As they passed our dirty window with the "Mary O'Connor, Seamstress" window, one girl stopped and curiousley looked in. Wasn't she from school? I quickly averted my eyes and looked down at the dress. I didn't need another bloody rumor going around. The little Irish workhorse, staying up late to make ends meat. Finally, she left, and I breathed a sigh of relief. One less thing to worry about.

I walked into the house and found no one was home...which
was blessing, not even my family could see me cry. I guessed all six of my
siblings were at some after school thing or play group, I didn’t know and didn’t
care. I drag my feet up two flights of stairs and though over the fact that I hadn’t
seen Eli today. Thank goodness. With a sigh of relief, I open the door to my
room, my world. Not just anyone could come in here, I could be as territorial
as a cat, speak of which, “Jaffer, get off,” I told my cat, who was purring,
pleased to see me, from the top of my computer, good thing it was a lap top. “Come
on puss wuss, hop off.”

Jaffer blinked and stopped purring, before curling back up
to sleep. Oh yeah; Jaffer was just like me at school.

I left the ugly task of getting her off for later and
thought about School again, before I got too tired to deal with it. Eli hated
me more than Jaffer hated water, why? I was awful at school that’s why. I was
horrible, not even a showdown of my true self and why. I had been hurt a long
time ago and so wounds just don’t heal. It wasn’t Eli; no she had a right to
hate me. In my old school I long way from here, I let my true self show and I was-

I jumped out and opened the window, like that’d help, but
smog was good of confusing people and making them forget...

And now that I was queen bee, how could I back down? The
people who didn’t hate me looked up to me. And teasing?

I grab my mobile and rang Stella; and as I was waiting for
her to answer I saw my make up bag. In one quick movement I picked up the back
and hurled it out the open window. Bursting loud sobs as Stella answered with
her cheery, “hello!”  I really couldn’t
live without that girl.
