New Sydneton (NS),

Chatterbox: Inkwell

New Sydneton (NS),

New Sydneton (NS), for those who don't know, is a very large city with only a few really big schools. All our characters go to one school (high school) there is large rich part with few houses (loads of trees and wide, clean streets etc.) and very poor part that’s not so clean. There is a large lake (good setting for things) and the city's known for having so much stuff and people from around the world! Also it has a rather small mall and grocery store, because most of the town is taken up by touristy stuff.

Add more to the city if you like, it’s a free world. Wink

Here's my character:

Name: Heather Kimberly (nick name: Blue)

Gender: Girl

Nationality: Australia

Age: 15

Appearance: average high, long brown hair, small expressive eye brows and lips, large eyes, very thin, tan.

Characteristic:

Home: Good at school and with little kids, oldest out of seven children, does most of the work at home.

School: Sarcastic, rude to those below her in the pecking order, hangs out with only who she chooses, seems to like to tease

You’re free to make more than one character. This is free RP Laughing.

Okay Holmes, do you think that you could write it? Because a) I am having a slight brain dead moment from all the exam studying I've been doing, and b) I don't know anything about wallball, and wikipedia has not been helpful. If you want me to write it, I will, but I'll warn you that it will be a very bad post. :O

Sirius Ember~

Finally! Finished math homework! I decided to go walk around the neighborhood; we boarders are allowed to as long as a parent or guardian gives us permission and signs the form and whatnot.

I walked along the street, thinking. This could be an eventful year, look at class today. A girl with a horrible name had showed up, but what did I care about her name? She came from Antarctica! I resolved to find out more about her.

Plus, she's a boarder, like me. THere aren't many boarders that I know of. I'm a boarder because my aunt thinks it's a good education for me, and my aunt pretty much rules the family. Not that I'm complaining. New Sydnenton is an amazing town.

And this morning, when a girl had actually walked into the boys' bathroom. I should probably get to know her more, since she'd been so nice. She actually seemed interested in writing, for once.

What I didn't tell her, though, is that I don't just write poetry. No, I'll write pretty much anything, which is what made Zak hate me in the first place. We knew each other in middle school, and I had gotten a better grade than him on a persuasive essay that the teacher had assigned. She had ranted on about how fantastic my writing was and how I'd actually seemed to enjoy writing it.

And I, the suck-up, had raised my hand and innoncently said, "But I did enjoy writing it!"

Well, you can guess what happened-- LA teacher's pet and all the guys' greatest enemy.

I passed a bunch of kids playing wall-ball. Eli and Kate were on my get-to-know list, but I didn't really like sports. I therefore went to the park, took out my notebook, and went to LaLaLand.

Oh, I was
so glad to finish helping Mum unpack. I can’t believe how much junk we have and
I thought we chucked most of it before we moved.

Settling
down into my window seat, one of the best things in my new room, because I
loved being able to look outside, I open one of the many books I had on my
small table near the window seat, my diary...

Dear
diary,

I’ve
always wonder why we start like that but... that’s not want I wanted to write.
Anyway,

School’s
okay, there are some nice boys or one nice boy so far and some cool girls. I
think I’ll have quite a few friends, thank goodness... and the work good too,
yeah I know, crazy, I like the work but who cares.

The only
downer is Heather... I want to write some really horrible things but...she
probably has reasons, everyone dose. So I’ll just write: she’s not that kind to
everyone and it’s probably best to stay out of her way.

I closed
my diary and locked it. Placing it back on the table, I thought about writing
something, but didn’t really feel in the mood. I picked my people journal from
the floor and moved closer to the window, to get into so people watching,
always a good way to pass the time and began to write...

******

“Can’t you see I’m trying?!” a voice yelled.

I woke
with a start to find my room dark.

“No I
can’t!” screamed another voice. I was pretty sure I knew who it was, “just
leave me alone!”

“Heather!”
I heard a door slam, one of the flat doors. I sank down. What had I just heard.
I was so shocked I didn’t even write it down.

“Let me
not breathe a word of this, God,” I prayed.

Do you think boys and girls are allowed to share rooms? Just wondering because I'm trying to figure out where Watermelon should sleep and it seems like most people in the RP aren't boarders except Tiffany.

Watermelon-

I look down at the piece of paper that I'm holding in my hand. The lady from the office gave it to me. It's my room number. The place I'm going to stay at. I secretly hope that those girls - what were their names again? - are in the same room. But then I remember seeing them walk out of the school today. I guess they have a place to stay.

A warm breeze blows in through an open window. I miss the cold and snow. It's too hot here. I study the line of houses that are only shadows in the setting sun and suddenly I walk into a wall.

"Oof!" The wall says. Actually it isn't a wall. It's a person and next to him is a book with papers sprawled around it.

"Sorry." I peer at the boy. He has long brown hair and dark eyes. I start picking up his book yet he snatches it away. "I really didn't mean to-"

He glances at me and his eyes lighten up a little. "No problem. Uh... I wasn't looking where I was going." He gathers up his papers and as he does I catch a glimpse of something that looks oddly like a penguin. It appears to be diving into the water.

I catch my breath. "Did you draw that?"

"This?" He waves the penguin sketch. "Yeah."

"It's- it's amazing!"

He smiles a little bit. "You're Cantalope, right?"

My face falls. "No. Watermelon," I tell him bitterly.

He notices my anger and bites his lip. "I didn't mean it badly. I just wanted to know who you are. Watermelon. That's an interesting name."

"I prefer Mela," I grumble , still angry.

"I'm Sirius. Where's you room?"

"That's what I'm trying to find."

(I stopped it here because I'm not sure about the boy/girl room thing yet.)

Eli~

"Waaaaalllllbaaalll!" Ethan yelled.  Kate launched the ratty tennis ball from behind a recycling bin and just barely hit the side of the building.

"That was really lucky," Eric commented.  We continued playing, and this kid strait from Harry Potter walked by.  No, he didn't look like it, but he was this artsy kid with artsy parents who made the mistake of naming him after a man wanted for murder.  He leaned up against where we were playing and said,

"Could I join?"  We stopped the game, and everyone stared at him.  He eyed Kate like he wasn't just looking to play wallball.

"Get lost, creep."  I kicked a trash can at him for good measure.  He ran away, screaming like a little girl.  "We won't get him hanging around here any more," I remarked, as I hauled the spilled garbage bag back into the can.  The game ended uneventfully, with Kate coming in a close fourth behind Brinna, me and Nick.

"Play again, sometime," Jess said as she walked across the street.

After she left, I told Jess, "But I got oooooooowwwt.  Waaaaaahwaaaaaaaaaaahwaaaaaaaaaah."  Imitating how he thought Kate would react.

"Okay, I stand corrected," he admitted

"As usual," Nick yelled, while walking up the street to where he lived.

Everyone laughed, including Jess.

Kate~

I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. That had been amazing! As I almost skipped towards our apartment, Ethan's shout of "Waallllballllll!!" rang in my ear. I couldn't wait until I could get back there again.

Until I opened our apartment door.

My mother was sitting in a chair, holding Brianna and whimpering. Da was flipping through the phone book, looking absolutely terrified. Sean was clinging to his hand, crying, "Whasa matta? Whasa matta?"

"What's goin' on?" I asked. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me. "Kate!" Mum yelled and nearly fainted. "Where on bloody earth have ye been? Whe've been worried sick!" Da boomed. Without even looking at them, I could tell they were furious.

"W-what d'ya mean? I was just off playin' wallball with some kids! Don't eat my head off about it!" Da went posatively red. "Jest off playin' wallball? Not tellin' us where ye were? Leavin' yer brother n' sister alone? You're tellin me not to bite yer head off? Yer mother'n I nearly died when we got home'n you wern't there!" He roared. "What were ye thinkin' Kate? You don't go off an' play bloody wallball and not tell us! Why didn' ya?"

"Why didn' Brianna tell you?" I turned towards her. She shrunk down. "You said you'd beat me to a bloody pulp if I told 'em." "I didn't mean not tell 'em even if they were outo their minds worryin' about me!" I yelled.

"Don't blame this on Brianna!" Mum snapped. "Why didn' ya jest tell us, Kate?" "Because I knew you'da never let me go." Da glared at me. "O' course we wouldn't a let you bloody go! We've got enough to do here! You can't go out an' have the time o' yer life when yer families starvin!"

"So I'm not allowed to have any fun then?" I yelled. "I'm not allowed to have friends and a life without your permission? God da, I'm bloody thirteen! I've got a right to do some things for meself! I understand that we're not the richest family in the world, but that don't mean I have to devote every second of my life to us!" Da turned from red to purple. "You're being so bloody irresponsable, Kate! If you're going to be a seamstress when you get older..."

"I don't want to be a bloody seamstress, all right?" I yelled. "I don't want to live the life we're livin'! I want to be an artist! I want to draw! I want to go to art school! I want to have friends that aren't Irish! We don't live in bloody Ireland anymore, da! We live in New Sydneton! I hate sewin'! I hate our bloody apartment! And as of right now, I bloody hate you!" I spun around and rushed to my room, slamming the door behind me. My previous joy had evaporated. Why didn't they bloody understand? I threw myself on my bed and let the sobs flow.

Sirius~

I glanced at her room number. "Oh!" I gasped. "You've got room fifty!"

Room fifty was somewhat a mistake. It was actually part of a boys' dormitory, but a year ago they reused it for this one girl because all of the girls' dorms were full. She'd left now, but thhe room stayed, divided from me and Kale by just a curtain.

"That's next door to mine," I explained. "Follow me."

She doesn't look too thrilled about being placed right next door to a boy, but she follows me anyway. I try to think of something to say, but nothing seems exactly right. Gah! Talking to girls is hard!

Zak passed. "Oh, look, Black has a girlfriend!"

For once, I was genuinely puzzled. "Black?"

They all start laughing. "Black and Pineapple... .Black and Cantaloupe... Black and Strawberry.... Shortcake..."

Mela grows steadily pinker and pinker, and I probably look the same. This continues for about five more minutes, until we finally see the dorm!

Ignoring the yell of "I didn't know watermelons grew in Antarctica, penguin girl," I open the door and she ducks through the curtain.

Well, that didn't go that well.

Eli~

Eric, Jess and I live in basements next door to eachother, and to get to them, we had to go through the alley between the Kate's house and the store that sold almost everything.  As we walked behind the sewing shop, we heard a girl sobbing as if she would never stop.

"Guys,"  I said shakily, "I think we might have gotten Kate is somewhat of a scrape." Jess rolled his eyes,

"What do you want us to do, send her flowers?" He started to walk down the back steps to his building when Eric stopped him.

"Give me the ball. I have an idea." Jess threw the ragged sphereoid in our direction and walked down to his "house". "Do you have paper?"

I was about to say no, when I remembered the welcome back letter from school that I'd stuck in my back pocket. "Yeah," I said, "I got a pen too, if that helps." I handed Eric the supplies and he scrawled in his messy, un-teacher-reinforced writing 'Sorry'. He took out a Swiss Army knife he had found some years ago and cut a slit in the tennis ball. Right before he stuck the message in the ball, I stopped him.

"She won't know what to do when she gets it. Let me see the pen." He handed the pen back and I wrote, in teacher-reinforced writing: Return to sender.  I hesitated and added at the end, from Eli, Eric and Co. Eric threw the message in the window and shouted, "Airmail!"

We both ran to our house and hoped that the letter was understood.

Kate~

"Airmail!"

I jumped as a dirty ball flew through my window. Wiping my nose, I picked up the ball and examined it. As I was holding it, I felt a clean cut through it. Inside, I found a letter with a boy's very sloppy "Sorry" written on it. Below was Eli's handwriting, asking me to return it. I couldn't help but grin. Yes, they were a bit rough, but they were nice. I quickly grabbed a piece of paper from my sketchbook and a pencil and scribbled down my message.

It wasn't your fault. Just a family spat. Thanks for the letter though. I'll see you all soon.

-Kate

I quickly stuffed it into the ball and opened my window. Scanning around, I finally found the basement door I was pretty sure Eli lived in. With all my might, I threw it at the door, hoping she would hear the clunk of the ball.

A tennis ball thumped against the door.  I looked out and saw another slip of paper in it.  Kate must have gotten the message.  I ran outside to retrieve the "carrier tennis ball" and read the message.  It everything was all right.  I breathed a sigh of relief.  I was worried there, for a little.  I inserted the letter back into the ball and rolled it down Eric's stairs.  "Groundmail!" I yelled.  Eric picked up the battered sphere and read the message.

"From Kate," I said.  He went inside and I did the same.

Blaire-

I get mood swings, in case you haven't noticed. It's okay if you tell me 'cause I already know. Here's a chart of just today:

Before first period: normal blah-ish (screaming 'I JUST GOT UP!!!!!' in my mind)

Afterward: happy and confident

During second period: ugh...algebra

Afterward: MY LIFE IS HORRIBLE (see the affect math has on me)

3rd period: Yay! :P ART!!! Delicious, except for the eyes and hands!

4th period; science: meloncholly; a wierd blend of happy and mehhhhhhhhhhhh

And so on and on. Anyway, by the end of school, I was tired and down in the dumps. Ugh.....

When I arrived, I promptly dumped my backpack in the foyer, and stumbled upstairs, then plopping down on my bed and quickly began snoring.......

................................................................

Was dat good enough for thee? Me feelin' brrrrrrrain dead......
