New Sydneton (NS),

Chatterbox: Inkwell

New Sydneton (NS),

New Sydneton (NS), for those who don't know, is a very large city with only a few really big schools. All our characters go to one school (high school) there is large rich part with few houses (loads of trees and wide, clean streets etc.) and very poor part that’s not so clean. There is a large lake (good setting for things) and the city's known for having so much stuff and people from around the world! Also it has a rather small mall and grocery store, because most of the town is taken up by touristy stuff.

Add more to the city if you like, it’s a free world. Wink

Here's my character:

Name: Heather Kimberly (nick name: Blue)

Gender: Girl

Nationality: Australia

Age: 15

Appearance: average high, long brown hair, small expressive eye brows and lips, large eyes, very thin, tan.

Characteristic:

Home: Good at school and with little kids, oldest out of seven children, does most of the work at home.

School: Sarcastic, rude to those below her in the pecking order, hangs out with only who she chooses, seems to like to tease

You’re free to make more than one character. This is free RP Laughing.

Eli~

"Please let me go home for tonight.  I need to get my things," I plead with the secretary.

"Sorry, but you can call your parents and they can bring what you need to the school," she says to me.

"My dad is out of town, he won't be back for two weeks.  I need to tell my neighbors something really urgent."  Feeding Barry is urgent, so is skipping so many games.

"Call them.  I can't argue with you any longer."  She dismisses me and tells me to look on the chart of where everyone is staying.  I walk to my room and storm in.  That girl Cantaloupe is in it.  I ignore her and grumble, "No windows."  I bang my head against the wall and stand there.  A few minutes later, Kate walks in.

"We're going to miss all of our games!" I tell her.  Two boys walk in, including that Harry Potter kid.  "You!" He points at me. "Get out of our room!" I point at the door.  He stays, looking at his nerd friend, Salad.  I roll my eyes and turn back to the wall. "I'm being surrounded," I mutter hopelessly.

"My condolences," Cantaloupe says.

"What's that, some kind of penguin?" She looks hurt and I think she realizes I don't want to be friends with her.

"The first order of business is..." Ember pauses for dramatic effect . . .

"Is finding a window," I finish for him.

"What's the window all about, Miss Over-reacting?"

"For a door."

"What do you need a door fo-" The locking of the door outside (must be one of the teachers) interrupts him.

"Exactly."  He looks at me like I actually might make some sense.  Kate is apparently organizing her stuff.  Cantaloupe looks hurt.

"We have a window!" Salad pipes up.

"Good. I'm assuming you won't let us use it."

"Why not?"

"See? Someone knows how to be crafty."

Sirius~

Looking around at everyone's expectant faces, including the girl's who I'd met in the bathroom, I finally started talking.

"Alright, so... all of you, except Mela and Kale, live at home. Our priority is to properly say goodbye to our parents, and.. um.... you know, feed dogs..."

Everyone laughed, except for Eli, the girl who hates me-- she actually looked pleasantly surprized that I'd included this in the plan. "Therefore, we have to-- as Eli said-- find a window. The window is in me and Kale's dorm, so that's the easy part."

"Next, we have to go to my house," Kale continued. "And get a lockpick."

"What?!"I heard one of the girls.

"You have a lockpick at home?" asked Brittany.
Kale muttered something inaudible. "Look, how else are we going to break into the teachers' lounge, or even get back into school!? This window is high enough to jump from, but not high enough to climb back into!" Mela reasoned.

"You were saying?" Eli asks me coldly.

"That," I smile, "Is when we find out everything. "Sneak into the staffroom."

"That's simple! IS that all?" Eli asks annoyedly. Probably thought I had some complicated chain-reaction thingy.

I forced myself to smile at her. "Most ingenious things are."

Eli~

"Hairpins and rope,"  I say.  Harry Potter and the other kids had been talking about other things while I spaced out.

"Are you going crazy?"  Kate says.

"Get off the bed,"  I order, hoping to tie these sheets together.  She refuses to get off, so I start pulling sheets off the beds, feeling like a madman trying to escape from Alcatraz.

"Oh, I know what you're doing!" Salad the nerd says. "I saw this in a movie once!" He starts tying sheets together too, but I pull on them and the knots are as weak as Jell-O, falling apart in my hands.

"I guess you never were a Boy Scout,"  I tell him.

"You scout out boys?"  Cantaloupe says, looking shocked.  Everyone stares at her and laughs.

"No, you learn how to tie knots. And other stuff nobody knows anymore," I explain. I've tied all the sheets together and am ready to depart.

"I'm assuming I need to ask permission to use the window,"  I ask, shouldering my bundle of linen.

"Be my guest, as long as I don't get rained with recycling,"  Harry Potter says.

"I don't make promises like that, but I'll take the window."  I storm through the curtain and briefly glance at the sketches on the wall. Salad has a periodic table hanging over his bed. Some sketch (I'm assuming Ember's) is of a penguin eating a huge slice of watermelon. The drawing has a heart around it. I'll tell Cantaloupe later.

As I'm about to drop out the window I remember something:
"Don't bother with the lock pick! I'm stopping off at the drugstore to get hairpins." I tie the sheets to me in a sort of harness and attach the chain to the bedpost.  I slowly pay out the line until my feet touch the trash compactor and I slide to the ground.

Kate~

"She's not going to just leave us, is she?" Mela says, looking towards where Eli went.

"Whether she intends to or not, she's not going all by her bloody self," I say, swinging my hair out of my face and following Eli down the ladder. Soon, everyone else follows.

"Well, we got this far," the boy named Kale says. "Now what?"

"We go shoplifting," Mela says, looking around. We all race down the street until we get to an old store run by an old man from Hong Kong. Da sometimes buys supplies from him. "All right, we just walk in nonchalantly and act like there's no problem," Brittany says.

Getting in is easy enough. We all split up around the store in case we need to make a run for it. Soon, we all have a pack of hairpins stashed in our pockets. "Let's go," Eli hisses.

To our dismay, two men are standing outside the door. They must have them posted all over town. I hear Eli swear softly behind me. "Now what?" Sirius hisses. "How should I know?" Eli snaps back. "Well, it was your brilliant idea!" he mumbles.

Suddenly, an idea comes to my head. A brilliant idea only an Irishman could come up with.

"You all stay here," I whisper. "And follow me when I signal you." I come out of the corner we're hiding in and walk straight up to the men. "Kate! What do you think you're doing?" Eli hisses.

"What are you doing here?" one of the guards asks angrily. "You should be..."

"Top of the morning, Eejits," I say, letting my accent take over. "May I blather on and say that you two dosser blokes are doing a bags job of guarding? I mean, really, it's completely bollucks that they need someone like you chaps to guard. As my da says, 'Those bowsie men doin' jobs fer the town are doin' it completely bollucks way! I mean, Cap on!' Do you know me da?" I continue. The men are looking more and more confused. "Maybe you see him at the boozer every once in a while. Mostly he calls all you culchies bloody fluthereds. Our gaff is in the other part of town. But I'm sure you gobdaw men never really go there, do ye? He always sends a gollier at ye when ye pass 'im. You probably think I'm gone in the head by now, but let me tell ye, ye goels, you make such a hames of everythig, ye wouldn't know the bloody difference!" The men are starting to back away from me. "Now, if ye don't mind, me mates would like to leave now." One man starts to protest. "Unless, since ye don't have any hard knack in this town..." The man jumps aside. "No! Go! Go! Just don't... talk like that anymore!" I whistle for the others, who come out with stunned looks on their faces.

"Kate..." Eli says when we get outside. "That was... amazing!" She hugs me hard. "You were like, a verbal freight train!" Mela says, still looking dazed. "What did you tell them?" I smile. "You don't want to know." Sirius grins. "All rightie then, let's get back to school and do some snooping."

It was irresistible.  I had to do it.  Tiffany W., should I ask permission before I do anything like that again?  Gigi, are you Irish or something?  Or do you just do your research really well?

Eli~

"So," Salad begins, "what's the hairpins for?"

"I thought you were the spy movie genius.  They're for picking locks you..."  I trail off, trying to think of some of Kate's insults. "Gobdaw?"

Kate giggles, "Good try."

"If you will excuse us, Kate and I have some business to attend to."  I say, walking over in the direction of the subway station.

"What are you doing?" Cantaloupe says.

"Oh, just the usual when you've been forced to live in a bloody school."  Kate says airily as we take the stairs downward and leave the others mystified.

On the subway, Kate produces one of the maps of the school and a red marker. "I figure we'd better start zeroing in on the suspected rooms." she says.

"Okay," I say, "We will always start off here." I draw a red circle over our room. "We won't find anything in here, here or here." I draw Xs over several rooms, leaving Kimberley's blank.

"What's so special about Heather's room?" Kate asks.

"You never know what you might find there.  She might be hiding the plans to overtake our minds in her lipstick drawer."  Kate looks at me strangely, and then realizes.  She giggles.

"I'll tell you a secret." I say to her,

"Do tell." She leans closer,

"I think Ember fancies Mela." She looks surprised.

"What makes you say that?"

I take the drawing out of my pocket and unfold it.  Though crumpled, it still shows the same evidence. I nabbed it while everyone was in the other room.  Kind of room.  Half of room.  Other side of room separated by a curtain.

Kate looks at the picture, looks at me, looks at the picture and bursts out laughing.  Guffawing, not giggles.  I start laughing too, and pretty soon, we both have tears rolling down our cheeks.

"That,"  she says as she stops laughing, "made my day."  Before anything makes us start laughing again, I carefully fold the anthropomorphism and put it back in my pocket.  We get off the subway and head over to our neighborhood.

"Promise me," Kate says, "you'll never show me anything like that in a public place ever again."

I look at her and say, "I don't make promises."

Time for the resistance! *evil laugh*

~Heather~

I watched new girl and melon girl race down the corridor. I
tug at my suit case’s handle and flounced into my room...I stepped in and was
greeting by a bunch of frighten but sort of happy faces Oh. my. gosh. Being in
school meant I was mean and cool, but... Sharing a room with some of the geek
girls that were big suck ups and Mo to watch me every second of the day meant I
was going to die. I’d just burn up.

I left my suit case beside a bottom bunk that was now my
only space and sped to the bath room in my highest heels, wobbling like crazy
down the stairs and almost twisting an ankle when I tried and dodge a bunk bed.

I ripped out the bath room door and let it bang behind me. I
dashed into a cubical and locked it so firmly I hurt my hand. The good thing
about the loos here was that no one couldn’t peek in. It was a big, expensive
school and the toilets were one of the nicest things. This was great for me because
I knew I’d be spending a lot of time here.

My phone buzzed in my jeans pocket. I pulled it expecting to
see Stella and when I was the name that appeared I felt like throwing my phone
out a window...If I could find one.

~Brittany~

“It would be a lot easy if we were all in the same room,” Kate
gasped to me as we raced to our bedrooms.

“Maybe we could be in the same room. Everything’s so hectic
right now, no one would notice,” I told her, “the room with the window would be
best.”

“What? All us bloody girls-” We split up to go round a bunk
bed. “All us bloody girls in the boys room?”

I would have shrugged, only I was running, “why not?”

Kate laughed, “Well we better find out how to get in there.”

~Heather~

The halls were quiet when I left the loos and I felt like I
had to sneak. I was leaning spy like against a boys’ door about the move on
when I heard a voice inside say.

“Perfect,” it was a girl’s voice, “now our plan will be
easier.” I’m pretty sure it was the melon girls

I pressed my ear against the door, “Next close the snooping.”
Sirius’ voice says.

“Cool,” new girl says, “I hope it’s some deep dark secret.
That would awesome!”

Hmmm, Heather
mused, walking away, I don’t think they’ll
be getting close to finding out anything if I can help it.

Please excuse my typos, for SpellCheck and touch screens are ruining my posts on every RP I'm in.

Sirius-

When we were heading toward the teachers' lounge, I sensed that Eli and Kate's additives toward me have somehow changed. They kept on chuckling behind my back, and every time I sneaked a look at Mela, which I had to admit was often, they would nudge each other. Had the Eli girl somehow found out?

Because, I must admit, I did have a crush on Mela. She was one of the few people who'd accepted me as an equal.

Suddenly, Eli muttered, "Oh, now of all times?" I looked up from my Merrels, and saw the Kimberly girl. I hated her, mostly because she was just so girly and annoying. But she could be mean, too, and when she looked down her nose at you like that, it was easy to see who was Queen Bee.

"I know what you're doing, and I'm going to stop you," she announced, snootily.

"Oh, um, could somebody explain why she's still at school?" I asked in mock confusion. Yes, I do like to be mean sometimes. It makes me feel better.

"Didn't you hear, geek?" she asked. "All the students have to stay home."

"Oh, I knew that," I replied with maddening innocence. "It's just that I always assumed that you were a way of moving lipstick around."

My friends laughed, but she started to speak and we fell silent. "That's nice and all," she was saying, "but your way is still barred. You were going to spy on someone, right? Well, heroes, I'm not going to let you."

Saz, did you mean to post the same thing twice?

Eli-

"I'm trusting you with this key, so don't lose it.  If you see my dad, explain everything when he gets home.  Kate and I might be able to sneak out once in a while, but it's risky."  I was in front of Eric's basement, he was listening to the news with little reaction.  "Oh, and by the way," I say as an afterthought, I had been preoccupied earlier, "Kate and I are going to miss some games."

"See 'ya 'round," Eric yells as Kate and I leave to get back to NSHSPS.

"Hopefully!" Kate calls back.

The subway ride back is solemn, both of us thinking about what it would be like to be cut off from our lifeline.  When we return, that girl I rescued from the closet had joined the crew.

They had been doing the same thing Kate and I started with the map on the subway, only they had gotten farther.  They quickly filled us in on what they thought was going on.

"We think that clues might be in here, here, or here," Salad pointed out, using the map as a visual aid. "Jackpot might be in these three rooms." Brittany looked like she was thinking, her eyes had that 'scouring the brain' look about them.

"There's something in room 125. I was supposed to board there, and I saw Heather hiding something," she finally remembers.

"Did you find the wits about you to steal that thing she was hiding?"  I ask sarcastically.

"No," she looks disgusted, "why would I do that?"

"Mela," I say, "I think you might be going undercover soon."

Kate~

After the bleedin' idiot Heather went away, thanks to Eli who, lets just say, did not mince words with her, we decide to send Mela off on a spy mission. And as she's getting ready, I catch Sirius staring at her like a lovesick puppy.

"Y'know Sirius, staring at her is not going to make her notice you." He jumps back in alarm and goes completely red. "How...?"

"Don't worry. Your secrets safe with me." He blushes even redder and looked at his shoes. "Whatda I do, Kate? I know she likes me as a friend, but..." I sit down on the nearest bunk bed and motion for him to sit next to me. "Well, I'm no cupid, but I am a girl, so maybe I can give you some help." I say. He breaks into a grin. "Really?" I nod.

"First off, you need to just talk to her more. Get close to her. Make her really like you." He looks puzzled. "How do I do that?" I think for a minute. "Compliment her. Us girls love to get attention. Say you like her shirt or how she laughs, or... whatever." He looks really lost. "Okay, pretend I'm Mela." I try to make my hair look short and give a smile. Sirius snorts. "Now, say something nice to me." He goes red. "Um... Mela, I really like when you... talk about Antarctica." I try not to roll my eyes. This boy is hopeless. "Um, all right, thats not bad. Now, go talk to her before she leaves!" He stands up, smooths his hair, takes a deep breath and marches over to Mela. Eli looks over and gives me a questioning look. I nod over at Sirius and wink. She nods and looks over at them.

"Hey Sirius." Mela says, smiling. He goes a deep shade of scarlet. It really suprises me that Mela hasn't figured out that he likes her.

"Um, hi Mela." He stutters. "I, uh... I really like your hair today." He looks over at me. I nod encouragingly. "It smells really nice." He continues. "Like... rasberries." Mela gives him a weird look. Eli gives a snort of laughter, but luckily, neither of them notice. "And I love that perfume your wearing. Is that snow-scented?" I try very hard not to bang my head against the wall. Eil is silently dying of laughter, and she doesn't stop even when I give her a looks.

"Um..." Mela says. "It's actually rose-scented. I don't think there's such thing as snow-scented perfume." Poor Sirius goes even redder, if it's possible. "But it's sweet that you noticed." Mela says, smiling. Sirius looks relieved. "Well... good luck on your mission and stuff." He literally skips back to me. "It worked!" He whispered happily."Yeah. You did great." I say, smiling. I don't mention the fact that telling someone that their hair smells like rasberries is not the most attractive thing in the world.

"Talk to me whenever you have girl troubles." He nods and gives a huge grin. "How do you know all this stuff Kate? Did you have a boyfriend?" I shake my head. "No guy would be able to put up with my huge mouth for more than five minutes. I'm just a girl is all. I know these things." He nods. "Well, if you need my help in any way as a pay-back, just holler." I nod. "All right." As he walks away, I yell, "Just be yourself and she'll be at you in a week!"

At least I hope so.

Eli-

Ember was looking funny today.  I think he noticed I took the drawing.  Kate did not help him much, although she did try.  While I was pretending to do homework, Ember tried to complement Mela.  It turned out to be a disaster.  He said her hair smelled like raspberries.  Okay, I admit that fresh blueberries when I picked them in Maine had this sort of smell about them, but maybe that's because that smell has been engraved on my brain since I was little.  But you don't say 'your hair smells like raspberries' to a girl when your trying to make a first impression.  Also, snow smell?  Who ever heard of that?  If Ember is going to keep on trying to tell Mela he loves her right before she tries to find something, I think they might get easily distracted.  So Mela doesn't get confused, I might ask Kate if we should show her the drawing when Ember is out of the room.  Then Ember won't need to fall over his shoes trying to impress her.
