Story Chain!

Story Chain!

I think it would be fun to start a story chain. Each person can write a sentence or paragraph to the story. I'll begin...

Kelsey Rose woke up and sighed. It was the first day of school in a new town...

Ok, you continue the story. Don't be afraid to add mythical creatures, or wild adventures to the story.

Okay, if no one else is going to write the next post, I shall!

Frank had led me into a room, and started showing me a video.  "Now this is how you save the linixie and the Thryshow World from disappearing or becoming Amnester's subjects...." Here I started getting nervous.  "Linixie's must use their power to help, and fight and oppose Amnester, not support him, or just stay out of things. Once a linixie enters the Thryshow World, it becomes their responsibility to help protect this world. Fight or die trying."   Here the video ended. I looked at Frank. "I guess you didn't show that for just an educational video." He nodded. "You need to help. Help us fight Amnester. Honestly, I've been waiting for a linixie to come. You've got the only power strong enough to stop him. And you've got to." "How," I asked. I sounded sort of whiny, but I didn't care. I had the right to be scared. "We'll train you," Frank said, his voice softening. "You'll train, then finally face Amnester. And your training starts tomorrow."

Okay, here I stop.

Training. That one word rolled around in Kelsey's head. It scared her because why would you have to train unless something is dangerous?

The next morning came all too quickly. Sophie woke Kelsey up and they ate breakfast. Then, Kelsey had to report to the training room. "Kelsey! Are you ready for today's work?" Frank asked. Kelsey meekly nodded.

"OK, so to start we will practice flying. You'll fly from here to the other side of the hall, after that, objects will be thrown at you. Your goal is to not get hit. This will help your accuracy and reflexes while flying," Frank explained.

The exercise didn't seem too terrible until Kelsey actually tried it.

It took mountains of effort just to fly while carrying her own body weight. In fact, she fell a few times. Frank just watched, not even offering a word of encouragement. When it came time to dodge the flying objects, Kelsey couldn't take it anymore. She stumbled to the ground and fled.

She wasn't really sure too where she was going exactly, but that didn't  matter. What mattered was getting as far away from Frank and his training session as possible. Only problem was, she couldn't go very fast or far. Kelsey kept stumbling and falling now that all her muscles were sore. Her legs were visibly shaking. It wasn't like she could just let her legs akwardly dangle in the air, so she tried lifting them up while flying. Kelsey thought about going to Sophie, who would surely understand, but then remembered Sophie left on the account of official business. The pool room was her best option right now.

It didn't even matter that she was wearing all her clothes. If anything, the pool's nice cool water would help her with all the aching. Sure enough, it did. That was until Frank showed up.

"You okay?" he asked. "No, go away!" Kelsey groaned. "Sorry, I thought you'd be ready for flying after what you did the other day, but obviously I was wrong," he apologized. "Obviously." Kelsey rolled her eyes. "It's good that you're in the pool then, because this is where our training can start. Since you need to build up your muscles more and water has a different sort of gravity to it, you will now train here." "No! I am not training any more today!"Kelsey argued. Laughing, Frank replied, "You're not going to today. You don't even have a swimsuit. If you want Sophie can take you shopping for one today once she's done in that store everyone seems to love. What's it called again, the Mall of America?" "Ya, but it would take hours to just walk through there. Let alone shop," Kelsey answered. "Then you can go to a different store. Just be ready to train tomorrow, and remember to buy something you can actually swim in," Frank concluded, turning away to leavve.

That afternoon, Sophie took me out shopping. We went to a much smaller than the Mall of America department store. I gazed at all the swimsuits available. Most were bikinis, which I despised utmost. Finally I stumbled upon a black and gold short and top style, which I fell in love with immediatley. "Probably a good choice," Sophie said, nodding approvingly. "It'll be the most functional." I nodded in agreement. Frank seemed to also like our choice. "That's perfect. It's good and functional." "That's just what I said," Sophie said, as if this were the smartest thing she'd ever said. The next day Frank started me on water training. "The best thing for you to do would be to transfigure." "How do I do that? And what do I transfigure into?" Kelsey asked, picturing herself a small grouchy goldfish. "Oh, whatever," Frank replied. "It would be best if you just adapted a tail." "Wait, like a mermaid?" Kelsey asked, instantly liking this idea even better. "Well, I guess you call them mermaids, we call the cows," Frank said. "OOOKAYYY," Kelsey said. Really, she could get there were different names for things here, but really, calling mermaids cows? Seriously? Kelsey shrugged it off, and jumped in. Frank stood on the edge as she treaded water. "Think about what you want to be, and use your power to become it," he instructed. At first nothing happened. On the second attempt, Kelsey was ready to quit for good, after turning into a chicken and nearly drowning. On the third attempt, she turned into the world's biggest sea bass. On the fourth she got distracted thinking about what mermaids were called, and turned into a literal cow. Finally though, she managed to get just her legs to turn into a long purple and gold tail. "I did it!" she shrieked, swimming around, trying out her new tail. "Great," Frank said, grinning. "Now for your real training!"

Kelsey was doing exceptionally well at swimming, unlike the flying disaster. To start, Frank had her become used to the tail by swimming back and forth. Then came the more complicated stuff. Kelsey had to dive into the water without a splash and swim away silently. Kelsey had the routine mastered within minutes. Frank looked pleased.

The next day, Frank instructed her to work on speed and endurance. This happened on a black rubber track nearby. She started with wind sprints and a mile warmup. Then, she worked on hurdles and long jump. Kelsey was okay at speed.

"Tomorrow, we'll start flying again. After that, you'll have all the physical parts done, although you'll still need to practice everything. Once flying is down, we'll work on how to approach an enemy, and escapes. Oh, and how to talk to one," Frank said.

Kelsey was dreading tomorrow.

"So, flying today huh?" Kelsey asked.  Frank answered "yes, though what are you wearing exactly?" "Oh this it's my flying gear."She replied. Reffering to the bike helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and the fluffy dog beds she brought to land on in case she fell. "That will slow you down you know since it's so heavy." Frank told her. "No it won't, it's made of para-aramid, which is alot of lightweight fibers used to make helmets." Kelsey said smiling. Then they started.

After wards Kelsey was so tired she wanted to die. Frank ended up being right. Which wasn't fair, because she researched the material and everything. Granted, flying wasn't on the list of activities people did while wearing the gear. "Would you like to do some yoga? It helps alot. My gret-great-great-great-great aunt's friends' sister created it. Not only will it help you with your sore muscles, but it helps with flexibility, strength and more. Then it also will help you control your linixie powers as well." Sophie asked while coming into Kelsey's room. "Fine, but I don't have any yoga things" she replied. "Nonsense!" Sophie exclaimed, "of course you have yoga clothing. It's in your closet, you just can't see any of it, because your closet is set to everyday clothing. Here watch." Sophie then went to the walk in closet, opened the door lifted a flap on it, and typed in, exercise, yoga.Imediatly  the closet started changing, and within ten seconds time it became filled with enough clothing for yoga, it could suppy an army. "Whoa, you should of told me this before. I could have used it for training!" marvled Kelsey. "Oh yes, I suppose so. Which outfit do you like?'' Sophie asked as if Kelsey were supposed to choose. "Um, I guess this one." Kelsey decided, while really just grabbing some random clothes. "Great, get changed, and I'll meet you at the yoga room. Don't worry about finding it, the frog you saw the other day will be waiting to show you where it is."Sophie said, then left.

The yoga room was enormous, to put the least. It looked almost like a dance practice room, with mirrors covering a whole wall, and a beautiful wooden floor. There were windows on the left wall, that let in alot of light, and tall vibrant green plants to accompany them. It seemed peaceful, and was the perfect way to end the day.

Glad to see this isn't dead! Now, some might hate me, but I'm going to jazz this up, and provide some excitement!

After yoga, I was totally relaxed, and even becoming used to my life now. I didn't realize how terrifying it was about to become. That night, I lay in bed, unable to fall asleep. Sophie lay sleeping soundly. Suddenly, a slight noise caused me to sit up. I stood and walked to my window. Seeing nothing, I was about to go to bed, when a hand grabbed me. I screamed, but he covered my mouth. I kicked and thrashed, knocking over a lamp. Sophie bolted up, and stared. A large man I had never seen before gripped me hard, to the point of pain. He held a knife to my neck. Suddenly, the bedroom door flew open, and Frank stood there. He looked at me, then my captor. I felt myself shaking. "Give me what I want," my captor said, looking at Frank, "and I'll let her go." He pressed the knife farther under my neck. I doubted even my powers could do anything now.

So, dramatic? Yes. What will happen?

Don't worry about adding something crazy, I believe the story needed it.

"Well what is it that you want?" Frank exclaimed. "Don't pretend you don't know what I mean. I want my younger brother back, and you stole him!" The man snarled. Sophie tried sneaking away, to find something to help, but he saw her first. "Don't try to escape! My friends are backing me up. I'm not foolish enough to not bring help with me."  "I never said you were," Sophie reasoned, "but, we really don't know what you're talking about. If you'd please explain then maybe we can help you. No I'm not trying to drag this out, in case you're wondering, but I do want a justification for your motives." He then started telling his story, "I've been looking for my brother ever since he ran away a couple years ago. I discovered Iggy, that's his name, was hiding out in that tree as a servant. For who I don't know, but you're gonna tell me once we're done. Then, when I finally get the chance to come for him, he's gone. Luckily I got tracings that led to you. Now I'm done talking, and it's time for you to tell me everything."  Kelsey cleared her throat to let the man know she wanted to talk. "Sir I don't know who Iggy I- wait, is Iggy half gargoyle, because if he is then I know him," she said as it all dawned on her. "I'm not sure where he is since everything from that day was super confusing, but he helped me breakout of there."  Frank then predicted, "He's probably been here the whole time without us noticing. If he's half gargoyle and has no where else to go it's possible. Why exactly did he leave in the first place?" he said narrowing his eyes.  Noticing that these were the wrong people to point a knife at the man stepped away from Kelsey, and called all his freinds to the room. "I'm not sure. That's why I was trying to find him. So I could know. Listen, my name's Alfred, and these are my friends. We didn't mean any harm, or at least don't anymore. If you don't mind me asking, could you help us find him?" Sophie, knowing that Kelsey would say yes spoke answering him quickly. "I'm sorry but Kelsey here needs to train so we can't." This left an akward silence wavering in the room until some one cleared his throat in the doorway. That someone just happened to be Iggy.
