Time Travel RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Time Travel RP!

Time Travel RP!

So this is Part 2 of our "I was thinking..." thread (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/108646) . True and I have been keeping it up for an entire year (yes, we litterally made the final post exactly one year later!). We've loved doing, and have decided to make a Part 2! This is for new people who want to join!

The idea is that you make a character that is related to someone famous in history, but that person can't be an actor, actress, singer, etc. For example, here's my character:

Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: 14

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

And here's True's (I hope you don't mind my putting you character as an example):

Name: Doralynn Barton

Age: 12

Related to: Clara Barton

Lives: Maryland, at her Aunt Clara's house

Appearence: Curly Black hair, light skin. Is short. About 5'

Personality: Is kind to all animals. Is a nurse to animals. A tomboy.

The story line so far is that we just saved the world in the future thanks to "time tears". They're a liquid substance that allows time traveling. Well, we've all returned to our respective times. But we discovered the original way we showed up was we each had a time-tear-infused object. For Dehlia, it was a book. For Dora, it was a handkerchief. The characters still have these items, and we were thinking of starting another adventure! So this is open for anyone else to join!

~Dora~

"Now, tell me everything," the woman said. She turned to me. "Dora?"

I took a breath. Why would it have to be me who was chosen first! Nevertheless, I started, and outlined our situation from the beginning, even including a basic history of my life in the future.

The woman nodded as I spoke, as if she expected all of the news.

When I finished, she turned to Autumn, Diana, and Zoe for their versions of the story. Each girl told basically the same story, with only the point of views changed. I was starting to get bored, until the old woman turned to Dehlia.

"Dehlia," she said, calmly, "and what is your story?"

Dehlia started to tell about her life, and her trip to this time and place. Like with all of the other girls, I learned a little about them and their families, and where they lived.

When Dehlia told of meeting me, however, she included the part about our  memory loss and how she had known my name and I hers.

When she heard about this, the woman's eyebrows shot up. Then she turned to me. "You did not tell me about this," she said, almost accusingly.

"I didn't think that it was important!" I said. "I almost forgot about it until now. There are so many new things around me. I wouldn't imagine  I wouldn't have even imagined doing things that I did in the past day in the future."

The Indian woman nodded. The unsettled look in her eyes slowly faded away, but something was different now.  She turned to the new girl.

"And you. Rose Jefferson. Tell me your story."

@ True: I HAVEN'T been ignoring your YWP messages, it won't let me on. It's forgotten my username, so I'll have to wait till I get that fixed!

Sorry this took so long!

Emily~

I hurried towards home carrying the jar of spices mother sent me to the store to buy. I stepped inside the door and heard voices in the parlor. I hurried to the kitchen, set the jar of spices on the kitchen table, and began peeling carrots. Even when father was alive, we never had servants; mother believed that if we all worked together, we can do even more than 100 servants could do.

"Emily?" I heard my Mother's voice trailing from te open parlor door. "Emily?" This time it was fainter. I suddenly found myself to be very dizzy. I instinctively dropped the knife and gripped the carrot.

"Emily?" This time I could barely heard her call. Faster and faster I spun. I felt the carrot trembling. "What is happening?" I wondered. Suddenly I blacked out.

When I came back to, I found myself laying on the cold, damp ground in front of a large tepee. I found myself still gripping the carrot. I put it in my apron pocket. Shivering, I stood up and walked inside.

Once inside, I was greeted by a number of girls and an elderly Indian woman.

"Hello, Emily," she said in perfect English.

How did she know my name?

"Um, hello..." I stammered.

"Well," she said. "Don't just stand there; come over here by the fire and warm yourself." I didn't need to be told a second time.

"So," she said. "These young ladies have just told me their stories; now you tell me yours."

I'll continue writing tomorrow! This is fun! :)

Is it too late for me to join? When I first joined the CB, I had no idea what RP's are, but now that I've found out, I'm simply CRAZY about them! ;P

Name: Emily Whitewater

Age: 13

Related to: Martha Washington

Lives: Williamsburg, Virginia, with her mom

Appearance: Long, blonde, curly hair; light skin, icy-blue eyes. Usually wears a homespun dress and a white apron. When she is out of the house, she wears a white mop cap under a straw hat.

Personality: Very outgoing, sometimes rash, doesn't always think before she acts, is always up for an adventure.

May I just add that her father has very recently died, and Emily and her mother are still grieving over his death.

So let me know if I can do this!

Absolutely! Welcome to RP, Mag Fan! I recommend you read up to what's been going on until now, so you know where we are. Just give your character an object, have them travel to now, and you're good to go! You might also want to skim Part I of this RP. The link is a tht top. It explains why and how we time travel.

Go and ahead and write any time!

Btw, have you been to Colonial Williamsburg? I have, and it's SO cool! I'm a big fan of the colonial era, per the Sybil Luddington story!

Thanks for letting me join! Yes, I'll read everything that's been going on here and on that link that you posted when you created this thread, so I moght not start writing until later this week.

Yes I have been to Colonial Williamsburg! Several times! My family went a few times in the fall, when it was cool but not cold, and once in April when it was unseasonably hot, and we were baking. We love it there, and hope to go back there soon.

Also, please let True know that I'm not ignoring her or you on YWP; for some reason, I can't access my account. Here's the post I made about it.  http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/downtoearth/node/132277

Hope you'll have some advice! I e-mailed them this morning, and I'm waiting for a reply.

Welcome, Mag Fan! I read your post on CB, so I figured what was happening. Did you contact YWP trying to ask for help? I'll try to ask one of the moderators for you, too, if you want me to.

I'd write, but I was the last one. I realize that I really put Katie on cue, but someone can still write, maybe with Mag Fan's charrie comeing in or something.

Sure, True! Maybe if we both contact them we'll get answers sooner (I've already filled out a "Contact Us" form on YWP.) . Hopefully I'll be able to sign on soon!

Gah! Okay, I'm putting my nose to the grindstone, and I'm just going to write.

Dehlia ~

I was by now, quite stunned by the number of people that had found themselves transported through time. I really hadn't thought this to be a regular occurance type thing, but apparently it was.

"Hello, Emily," the Indian woman said as another girl stepped into the teepee. She blinked as if in a daze. Evidently, she had only just arrived, and likely hadn't expected this elderly woman to know her name. She stammered out a greeting, her eyes flicking around the small space. She came and knelt down beside us near the fire, shivering slightly.

"So," the woman continued after a moment, "these young ladies have just told me their stories; now you tell me yours."

So the girl slowly told out her brief story of how she'd come to suddenly wake up on the ground outside the teepee.

The woman simply nodded periodically, as if this all made perfect sense. After Emily finished, the woman sat in silence for a long while, eyes shut, gently, mildly rocking back and forth. Finally, she opened her eyes and stared at us intently.

"What does this all mean then?" I finally asked, staring back at her. She focused on me, staring for several seconds.

"You all are very special," she finally said with sigh. "You are sort of like, guardians of time. You are here to protect the past, and the future. People will try to manipulate it, but it is your responsibility to keep that from happening."

"Well how do we do that? How do we even travel? Is it magic or something?" Zoe asked.

"No," the woman chuckled. "Far from magic. It is science. Complicated, far from our grasps science, but it is far from other worldly. As to how you travel, that will depend on you."

"How do we control it?!" I demanded, now thoroughly exasperated.

"Those objects that you came with will allow you to travel. You will figure it out as you go."

"Okay, well, how do we know when and where to travel?" Rose asked.

"You'll know, that's all I can say."

I really couldn't think of much to write, but there you go.
