Chatterbox: Inkwell

Time Travel RP!

Time Travel RP!

So this is Part 2 of our "I was thinking..." thread (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/108646) . True and I have been keeping it up for an entire year (yes, we litterally made the final post exactly one year later!). We've loved doing, and have decided to make a Part 2! This is for new people who want to join!

The idea is that you make a character that is related to someone famous in history, but that person can't be an actor, actress, singer, etc. For example, here's my character:

Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: 14

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

And here's True's (I hope you don't mind my putting you character as an example):

Name: Doralynn Barton

Age: 12

Related to: Clara Barton

Lives: Maryland, at her Aunt Clara's house

Appearence: Curly Black hair, light skin. Is short. About 5'

Personality: Is kind to all animals. Is a nurse to animals. A tomboy.

The story line so far is that we just saved the world in the future thanks to "time tears". They're a liquid substance that allows time traveling. Well, we've all returned to our respective times. But we discovered the original way we showed up was we each had a time-tear-infused object. For Dehlia, it was a book. For Dora, it was a handkerchief. The characters still have these items, and we were thinking of starting another adventure! So this is open for anyone else to join!

Well, let's go ahead and decide a purpose for our time traveling. Maybe instead of bad guys this time, the fabric of time itself is unraveling or something, and we have to fix it? Or we must discover the root of all time travel, but discover secrets in each time, then heading "back to the beginning," which doesn't necessarily have to mean the beginning of time (but dinosaurs might be kinda cool) but the beginning of time travel? I dunno.

Maybe after this "meeting" we suddenly travel to another time, or perhaps we have to help the pilgrims or Indians somehow? Maybe this could be our base time, like we come back here every so often, since this woman knows about time travel?

I DUNNO. Those are just random suggestions.

MAYBE the Indian woman has time-traveled herself! Maybe that's why she knows so much about it! Just a suggestion!

I really like those suggstions, BHR and Mag Fan! :) It seems logical that she would have time traveled herself, or at least have sudied it seriously. And the fact that the root of all time travel is coming apart would fit in with the last one . . . after such a catastrophy, things are going crazy.

I do think that we should travel soon, though. And I'm not as sure, however, what all of our items are. A handkerchief (Dora), a book (Dehlia), a paintbrush (I'm guessing that it's either the  paint or the paintbrush that brought us Zoe. Tovah never did say.), a lighter (Autumn), a carrot (Emily), a necklace (Rose), and a pin(Diana)? Is that it?

I like the idea of the Indian woman (whom perhaps we should give a name) having time traveled before! Perhaps she's even been to the "root of time travel" herself?

Btw, just to clarify "the Indians", I believe their tribe would have been Wampanoag, wouldn't it? That was the tribe (I believe) that the Pilgrims met.

I was thinking that time unraveling thing would have fit in well with the previous one too. So, is that idea sort of a unanimous agreement? I say after that we just sort of wing our way to our goal. Winging it seems to do well for us.

I think that's what everyone used. I don't remember exactly. We'll go with that, and if we're wrong, we can fix it later.

YES! I'm so glad you all liked my idea! :D

Yes, I think that's right too. I know I used a carrot! ;)

I love the idea of time unraveling!

All right, so now that we have a vague decision of what we're going to do, (Number one the time unraveling, number two being winging it, as usual) I suppose we can get back to writing. I'll give it a shot.

~Dora~

"What kind of people are guardians?" I asked, still not being able to grasp that I was one who had to help protect time. "I'm just a regular girl from America. Why choose me? Why not someone who can actually do something?"

The other girls nodded in agreement.

The Indian woman smiled. "Girls, there are many people living in time, all over the world and
all over the years. They have their own lives. A few guardians were well
known to the rest of the world, but many were lesser known people who are
never recorded in a history book. Guardians are not picked by their popularity, but by many little things. Knowledge of what's right. The desire to get that thing done. Commitment. Many, many little things that together create a person. You do not need to be well known to be a guardian. Dozens of great, famous people who have no
knowledge of the guardians, often have unconsciously helped us." she
turned to me. "Your Aunt Clara, for example. Thomas Jefferson. George Washington. Those are only a few. And just as much as well known people have helped us, some have thwarted and made our mission harder. Queen Alice of England. Napolean Bonaparte. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, weak, or strong, nor does it matter from what time you're from. If  you are chosen, we see something in you, something that will help us."

I started to nod, slowly, starting to have a vague understanding of what she was saying. The others, too, seemed to understand, as well.

The woman nodded. "Now, any more questions?"

Emily cocked her head. "Why is it that we are chosen now?" she asked, "Is something a matter with time?"

The woman bit her lip, and then opened her mouth to speak.

___________

Sorry about the long explanation. I'm kinda known for rambling when I have no idea what to put and have to put something. I was going to ask another question, but had no answer.

Um, guys, what are we going to do with the other characters? The one from the last RP? I really hate to bring this up, but once Dora and Dehlia recover their memories, they are bound to ask of at least three of four of the characters. And we should have some kind of explanation about why they aren't here, too. We've been  trying to avoid it, but I think we can't put it off for the entire RP . . .

Sorry I haven't written!

@True: I haven't been here long, and therefore wasn't on that RP, but maybe the characters were...  Dead? Not chosen because they... I don't know. Ooh, maybe the other characters took a special potion or something that made them older and wiser, and one of the characters that took that potion is the old woman?

Rose~

Emily cocked her head quizzically at the woman, her blonde curls bouncing up and down with this movement. "Why are we chosen now? Is something the matter with time?"

The woman bit her lip, and responded quietly,"Time is unraveling." She looked at us as though we were supposed to gasp, but all I saw was confused expressions on everybody else's faces. I'm sure mine was the same.

She sighed, then continued,"There is a great force called the Vortex of Time. It pulls in our planet, the sun, the stars--"

Diana cut her off. "The other planets in our solar system."

The woman smiled. "Yes, in fact, the whole Mliky Way and all the other galaxies."

I had no idea what they were talking about, but if the woman said it was right, it was right. She turned back to us. "Everything is swirling around the Vortex of Time, being constantly pulled inward, the Vortex of Time threatning to pull us in and unravel time. The reason it does this is because something needs to be right in time But the guardians of time always keep it from doing so, traveling in time to fix it, working together as a team."

I heard my voice, shaky and soft, say, "Well, why are we needed now?"

The woman turned toward me. "Rose, isn't it?" she asked. I nodded. "Well, Rose, people, from all over different planets, galaxies, and most importantly different time periods, have created a gang called The Unravelers. They have concocted a formula and have used it to make the Vortex spin faster and unravel time faster. As the other guardians are too old, and you all were next in line, you now have to go into a deadly race against time, fix time, and stop The Unravelers."

@ True: Hmm. I was thinking the same thing. Well, Elexhiia is pretty self explanitory, but the others... Maybe the first run through was this really big epic battle thing, and they were last resort types. But now that this is a continuous type thing, they (being as "they" is rather vague but anyway) decided Dehlia and Dora, plus the new characters, were better suited for continuous problems and travel? If that makes any sense. Which it probably doesn't.

@ Katie: I really like what you just wrote! I like the feel the way it brings all of us from different times and backgrounds, and makes us united like we're decendents, and gives us an masked enemy.

Mmm . . . I"m looking back at all of the posts near the end, from last time. No one really chose us for the adventure - our items were infused with time tears. Maybe time tears and time unraveling cause random objects to be infused with time tears? Then, about Felix and Errol, they were unwell, or just so busy that they couldn't handle the strain of it?

@BHR: What did you mean by "Well, Elexhiia is pretty self explanitory, but the others..."?

submitted by True
(April 2, 2014 - 6:28 pm)

@ True: Cause Elexhiia was part of that future "time proctection" agency, and was limited on how much she could time travel. She probably wouldn't help unless specifically assigned by her organization, don't you think? Or am I wrong? I could be. Elexhiia sort of confused me a bit, I admit. (Maybe that's too much Agents of Shielf my dad watches all the time in the background while I write coming through.)

Ah, good point. That never crossed my mind. :)

And, yes, Elexhiia is a very confusing character. (That's good, though.)

Dehlia ~

I stood there for a second, slightly dumfounded. Something tickled in the back of my mind, but I couldn't place what.

"Well, what do we do?" Dora asked, finally breaking the silence.

"You need to find the root of time travel," the woman said, gazing at us intensely.

"The root of time travel?" I demanded, not quite sure how on earth you do that. Go the beginning of time?

"It's not necessarily the beginning of time," she said smiling slightly as if reading my mind. "It's whenever humans discovered it, and when the first person time traveled."

"And how do we know when that is?" Rose asked.

"Being Guardians, the time stream will, call to you, shall we say. Look, it is already."

We looke down at our bodies, shocked to see we were fading.

"WHAT NOW?!" Zoe shrieked, waving her fading hand wildly as if the fading were some bug she could shake off.

"You'll see," she called as everything started to fade off.

**********************************************************************

Um, so, I didn't really know what else we were going to do in the teepee. We went through explanations and all. So, True, you wanna decide where we go next? Then maybe Katie can?

Sorry, I have no time to write right now (if I start, I probably won't be able to save it because my youngest sis wants to get on to play games.) I'll write as soon as possible, though. Also, how far back should we go, any preferences?
