Shadowsoul froze, and stared at what was before her. A tall man, with black hair, and blood-red eyes. He was dressed in a cloak, but his hood was down.

" You've finally come home," the shadow lord said.

What do I say, and how do I say it? Words were rushing through Shadowsoul's throat to come out, but they never did. She was too nervous.

" Are you afraid my child?" the man asked. Shadowsoul shook her head, and finally what to say to him after a moment or two.

" We need your help." The shadow lord raised an eyebrow.

" We?"

" There's a group of kids outside the cave. They're on a journey to stop the Winter King. He has demons that are coming, and we asked Milo how to stop him, and he said that only other demons could stop the demons the Winter King sends. He said to go find you. The Druid Council wouldn't-" Shadowsoul was cut off but the shadow lord.

" The Druid Council? You went to the Druid Council? You're lucky your even alive!" the shadow lord hissed. Shadowsoul hung her head.

" I'm sorry. But we need your help! Please!" Shadowsoul begged, anxiously prodding the ground every few minutes.

" No. You are my last life. I will not risk you going out there," the shadow lord said, as if making it the final answer. Shadowsoul would have none of it.

" If I made it this far as your last life, then I'll be able to make it through this time! Please, just give us a couple of de-" Shadowsoul was yet again cut off.

" It isn't that simple! You're going out to war! There will be things that kill all around you. You can't simply evade them then teleport. You will be teleporting right into the enemy's way! You do it again, same thing! I will not let you go. Think of all the people I would kill as a mindless beast if you do die!" the shadow lord said, his eyes flashing with emotion.

" I cannot let you go. There are too many lives to save.." Shadowsoul lifted her head, and spoke the one thing that would change everything in that cave.

" Then there are too many lives that will die."

Earane was desperately trying to figure out how to save. Artha when Elpama crashed down on top of her. "Elpama!" she snarled. Elpama groaned. She was out cold. Simon grinned. "Cats."

Raven cocked her head listening to the commotion inside the cave. She paced nervously and pricked her ears up when she heard aproaching foosteps. Turning into human form she saw Shadowsoul aproaching from the cave with a grave look on his face. Raven's hopes fell into a deep abyss.

Shadowsoul trotted out of the cave, her head low, her mane covering her eyes, and her ears flattened. Every few minutes she would let out an snort. An angry, short snort. When she came out of the cave, she saw Raven.

" Well?" the girl asked, with the tiny piece of hope starting to fade from her eyes as Shadowsoul gave the answer.

" He's not coming." Raven sighed and her head hung.

" What happened? What did he say?" Simon asked.

" He's not coming," Shadowsoul said again.

" What are we going to do?" Lizzie asked.

" We are going to fight the Winter King, with or without him. But first, we're going to round up some demons, whether the Shadow Lord likes it or not."

Earane bound Elpama to a tree. "Well, what be the quest now?"

"Finding the shadow lord." said Raven glumly.

"Quite. We'd better be off then!"

Suddenly, thousands of ravens and crows wheeled in the sky, snatching at them. "RUN!" yelled Earane.

Artha~

I stumbled down to join my friends, noticing with a little dismay that Elpama was still there, her eyes crossed from a bad knock on the head, but still alive. I guess it was too much to hope that at least one antagonist could be disposed of.

Simon and Shadowsoul were deep in conversation. Earane and Raven whispered to me that many of the forest cats knew where some demons lived, and that Simon could help round them up. I gave a low whistle of surprise; it was dangerous enough for even one trained in magic to call any demons, let along a human boy. But the way he had called the courgar to save me...he was no ordinary human, that was certain.

Lizzie was sitting a little apart from the others, looking sad that she had nothing to contribute to the discussion. I went over and put my arm around her. "Don't feel bad, Lizzie," I said. "When we go, I am appointing you Elpama's bodyguard."

"She's coming with us?" The girl asked, looking over to where the druid was moaning a little in pain.

"I don't dare let her out of my sight," I said. "Earane!" I called out to the other druid. "Do you know how to temporarily strip another druid of her powers?"

"If you are referring to Elpama, no. Her command of the air can evidently not be eliminated while we still require it to breathe. However, if it will give you solace, we are very near a river, and whenever we are near water, I have powers equal to her own. Equal to defending you, if you require it, which you seem to." The arch of her eyebrows seemed to imply that I was rather pathetic where magic was concerned.

Simon and Shadowsoul seemed to reach an agreement. Shadowsoul trotted over to the druids while Simon closed his eyes in concentration. All around us, the forest seemed to come alive with a hundred pattering feet while the glowing eyes of cats appeared in a ring around us.

I feel... Surrounded. In danger. Shadowsoul whispered to herself, the many big cats around them starting to stalk out into the open. She shuddered a little as one of the cats had a bit of blood on its muzzle, as if it had just finished eating.

I could be hunted alive, and die a slow death. Shadowsoul shuddered again as the big cats started to sit down in front of them. One big cat, a cougar like the one before, stalked forward.

" You are the Shadow Lord's last life, am I not correct?" the cat asked. Shadowsoul dipped her head.

" Well then you will be able to command the demons easily. We've seen some around here. They like to hide in the deepest corners, where the sun never touches. We have also run into some during hunting, but they don't eat us. They eat humans, who are helpless creatures. But the good thing is, all of you aren't human. You may look like it, but demons can sense if you have power or not. They fear those who behold magic in their hands. Now come with us. We will lead you to the demons," the cougar explained, and turned around.

" Wait. So you're saying that Simon isn't a human? I mean, he is extraordinary, but it sounded as if... I don't know, you knew, or were confirming that all of us aren't human?" one of the girls asked. Shadowsoul wasn't sure which one it was.

" Of course Simon isn't a human. He summoned us. Shadowsoul knows that as well that he isn't a human, don't you Shadowsoul?" the large cat turned its head to the black friesian. She felt her mouth go dry.

" I mean, it could be my imagination, because he looks like it so much-" Shadowsoul started, but was interrupted.

" You weren't imagining, Shadowsoul. Anyway, let's get on to seeing those demons. Follow me," the cat again turned back around and started to head off into the forest. Shadowsoul glanced at Simon, who looked as confused as anything.

I hope this works out. Shadowsoul muttered, as they continued through the shadows of the trees.

I might've put a comment on this rp, meanwhile the comment was for a different rp. Sorry about that. And I might have, but if it isn't here, then forget this little part of my comment. Anyway, you guys have a good day!

Shadows, dem ons, and anow cats? Ravens instinctual Wolf like behavior made her extremely uncofterable in the midst of large cats. Shadowsoul didn't look too comfterable either. She followed the cat with alert and ready for anything.

"What does a demon look like?" Raven asked Artha nervously

"Well, it depends on the demon, but theyre always large and evil."

"Lovley." thought Raven "More creepy monsters, well I did sign up for this." she turned into wolf form and trotted ahead.

Earane kicked some dust on Elpama to spite her and rose. "We ride at dawn. I know how humans apparently need a thing called sleep, so I'll memorize some spells."

The others settled down while Earane took first watch. Suddenly a girl stepped from the bushes. "State your buisness!" barked Earane, raising her staff.

You guys can do what you want with her!

Artha~

Shadowsoul and the cougar went in front. Simon walked behind, Pantherus clenched tightly in his hand. Raven trotted beside him, her tail tucked low around her legs. Earane, Elpama, Lizzie and I went last, staying a little to the right of the group so that Elpama walked in the river. She let forth a quiet stream of curses, but her power was momentarily rendered useless by the water.

"What are you even keeping me around for?" She fumed. "It's against all the laws of Elfkind, Earane, and you know it!"

"It is also against the laws of Elfkind to attack a visitor who comes in peace. Artha did not insult you or attempt to harm you. As you have broken one law, I shall break another," Earane replied grimly.

The forest closed around us again, and still the cougar led us deeper in. Lizzie was visibly trembling. "How can he know I'm not human?" She whispered. "What if he made a mistake? What if I really am human and a demon decides I look like a decent midday snack?" I put a comforting arm around her, but didn't reply. I could sense, far away, the low, dull pounding of a marching army's feet. The orcs were catching up to us. We had to find those demons quickly.

We came to an abrupt halt where the narrow path swerved away. The river ran one way through the thick trees, the path another. "We'll wait," I said in a forced light voice, looking at Elpama. "You go find the demons and bring them back here when you do."

Simon nodded and followed the horse and the cat down the path. Lizzie breathed a shallow sigh of relief, but Earane's mouth was now set in a stern line. She too had heard the approaching orcs. I went up to Elpama. "Look, Lady Druid," I said to her in a low, fierce voice. "Those orcs are coming, and we need to hold them back for as long as we can. Earane and I can fight, but Lizzie can't, and we need your skills of magic. You must fight with us, or we will all be killed."

"What is that to me?" Elpama smirked. "Earane is a traitor and you are my enemy. Why should I care if you die?"

"Because if we do, so will Lizzie, and when Simon finds out, he will get mad and call every cat to his side, and you can see how well you can fight not just one cougar, but a whole legion of snarling felines out for your blood!"

Elpama considered me for a moment. Then she gave a theatrical sigh and nodded. "Oh, very well," she began, but got no further. Earane was pointing the end of her staff toward her old friend.

"You even think about betraying us," she said, "and I will personally hold you underwater while Artha freezes you!"

Held at stalemate by these two threats, Elpama rolled back her sleeves, cracked her knuckles, and sat on the bank beside us to await the coming of the army.

Shadowsoul looked down at the young knight walking beside her. He looked so much like one.

I wonder if he really is from the prophecy. Shadowsoul started to think about it more, but was pulled out of her thoughts.

" We're here," the cougar said, stopping. Shadowsoul looked up from the ground, and stared at the dark clearing. Suddenly, the blackness started to move around. The friesian's heart started to beat faster, and louder. The blackness stopped moving, and there were about twenty demons, pairs of yellow, red, and orange eyes blinking at them. One demon stepped forward. He looked like the Egyptian god Anubis, but he was on all fours.

" What are you doing here?" the dog growled, his sharp fangs bared. The cougar turned its head to Shadowsoul. The horse swallowed, and trotted forth.

" I am the last life of the Shadow Lord, your ruler. There is a war that's coming on, and he does not wish me to go, and does not want to rally all of you for this war. So, instead of him going, I will. If you come with us, you will be protected by us if we happen to come across Druids. You will be leaded by me, and by Simon. If any other person from our group is to tell you to do something, you will do it. No harm will you bring to them, and in return, no harm will we bring to you. Understand?" Shadowsoul said to them, trying to calm her voice from being shaky, yet during the whole time, her heart was pounding like a drum. The dark creature turned around to look at the other demons, then turned back around.

" Lead us, o' last life of the Shadow Lord."

Earane glared at Elpama and crouched near the dog. "Is'ne omen sha'ra."

The dog gaped. "You speak Abyssal?"

"I'd rather not speak of it."

"Oh. Well, I'll find the oracle for you."

"Thank you."

They followed the dog as it led them to the demon oracle.

Shadowsoul gave a nod to the demon dog, and turned around, the demons leaping out of the trees, all of them creating a black mass behind Simon, the cougar, and Shadowsoul. They returned to the group.

" Where's Earane?"

Artha~

I looked up and tried not to be afraid of the masses of demons crouching behind Shadowsoul. However, my relief at seeing them was great enough that it quickly banished my fear. The orcs hadn't reached us yet, but I knew they were lying in wait just out of sight, waiting to gather their full strength before attack.

"Another demon came and brought her away with him. He said that he would show her an oracle that might help in the battle," I replied to Shadowsoul's question.

She nodded, and moved a little away so that Lizzie wouldn't see the demons. Both Lizzie and Elpama were watching the direction Earane had gone, waiting for her return.
