Dear Future  Students,

You have been selected to attend the Griffinfeather School for Determined Children. Here you will learn about being extraordinary in an ordinary world, as well as other useful talents that are worth more than you think.

You may be wondering why we chose you out of all the people in this world. The answer is that you are extraordinary just by being yourself, full of talent because you believe in dreams, and brimming with determination simply because you believe in yourself. These qualities are what make a true superhero.

Orientation will be held on October 3rd. The attached forms will need to be filled out and sent to us by October 1st. At orientation, please bring with you along with typical boarding school neccissities:

1. A song heard by nobody's ear.

2. A word held by nobody's tongue.

3. A cloak of hiding that covers nobody's heart.

Warning: these items will not be the same for everyone.

Nobody will be admitted into Griffinfeather's School for Determined Children without these items. If you can pass this simple test, it will show that you are exactly the person we are looking for. Further instructions will follow at orientation.

Sincerely,

Sasha Night (school prinipal and Head of Training) and Winston Lendrift (teacher, Head Talent-Searcher, and head of the Pinecone League one-on-one training center)

Yes! Sorry I didn't post, I'm sick right now and I've still been participating in a reenactment and acting in a production, so I'm a little tired :(

As soon as I get back on my feet I will start thinking up some plot lines.

*throws thermometer across the room* I'M TIRED OF STARING AT THE WALL!!!

Now that I've got that out of my system...

Sasha~

I stare at the auditorium doors, a mix of emotions rising in my chest. Another year. Another year. I love what I do. But I can't shake the feeling that the shadows around me are moving...

Winston~

Tap. Tap. Tap. At the first sound of Sasha's high heels against the linolium floor (the auditorium is the newest part of the school), all the nervously whispering and fidgeting students go absolutely silent. She has that effect on people. I can't help smiling. Her eyes stare straight ahead, glittering and cold. Her lips form a perfect, pursed red line. And then they open, slowly, and she begins to speak.

Sasha~

Before I even begin an orientation, I like to get to know all the new students who will be attending Griffinfeather School. I do this by studying everyone, discretely, while I spill out the usual rules and instructions which have imbedded themselves so far into my mind that I barely have to think to let them out.

The girl with straight black hair whispering a constant babble to the person beside her cannot be anyone other than Klara.

"We founded Griffinfeather school three years ago..." I talk on through my memorized speech. I look at Winston. I didn't mention who all founded Griffinfeather school, and he noticed this emmideately. Scanning the room again, my eyes settle on a girl who reminds me of someone. With a start, I realize who. Myself. Her long brown hair frames her smart and almost cold-looking face, and she twirls a pencil between her fingers. Ah Lia. You have more talent than you can ever believe now. But you will...

A blonde girl sits beside her, her eyes alert and glittering. Kyr. She is much more dangerous than she thinks she is. But maybe that's why I accpeted her. She catches my eye and smiles confidently. I nearly stumble with my the end of the orientation speech ("All of these rules must be followed at ALL TIMES, unless you are with Winston. Thank you, and we hope you will enjoy every school day"), but catch myself.

Winston~

Accept with Winston, of course, with whom you can act like wild banshees, I think happily. Perhaps I can persaude her to add that into her speech next year...

Sasha steps down from the podium, and, as if on cue, it starts to rain. Sudden and pouring and black, the storm rolls over the campus much quicker than usual. I watch its progress outside the window. Within Minutes, puddles have gathered around the buildings and fountain, which is overflowing.

"Attention!" Sasha says (she hardly ever yells) sharply over the noise of rain on the tin roof, "Classes will still begin at 10:00 regardless of the storm! But first, please form a line and pick up your schedules." Ah, the grueling wait of "forming a line and picking up schedules." The hubbub rises as the students pick up the red folders that aren't theirs, or realize that there are mistakes in them (those must have been the two I've made) or some other crazy issue. I can't bear standing still any longer, and this rain means that we can't have recreational time in the pit of lava this afternoon. And then, so quickly that it almost couldn't have happened, the power goes out. Well, this year is getting off to a great start already!

Briar~

I watched Sasha's face through the entire orientation. She wasn't thinking about what she was saying, she was checking all of us out. Slowly tuning out Klara, I watched as she stumbled at the end of it. My eyes darted to Kyr, who grinned at Sasha. Hmmm, that was odd. But I thought nothing of it.

People stood up and moved towards the table with the folders that I noticed before, and I followed. I heard muttering as people picked up the wrong folder, but, thankfully, I got mine without hassle. Suddenly, the lights blinked out. I groaned. As I groaned, the lights flickered back on. I froze.  Did I do that?

I think I'll change my charrie name to October. Becuase I like October. The month and the name. :D

October~

I sit, trying to blend in to everyone else. Everything is so loud, so chaotic. People are chatting amiably, making friends, beginning to fit in........ I sink deeper into my seat. Then, a women who calls herself Sasha steps up to the platform and makes a speech. I perk up when I hear the "Wild Banchees" part. That sounds totally awesome.

I decide that I'm going to stick to myself, unless someone talks to me. I'm really bad at talking to people. Everyone grabs a schedule and attempts to line up. Then, it's as if someone has turned on the giant faucet in the sky. Rain comes down in buckets outside, and I sigh with happiness. I love the rain. If I think I hear thunder, I get very excited. (This is true in real life. XD) Then, the power goes out. I clutch my bookbag with the three items in it to my chest. I brought them....... just in case.

I think Sasha has stepped back up to the podium, becuase her voice comes ringing across the hall. Silence comes after it like a wave. "Please remain calm. The emergency lights will come on in a moment." As she speaks, the lights come on."Good. Now, if you are with Winston, please direct your gaze to the man in the corner who is looking suspiciously innocent. It's not, please come with me." And so, with those words, I begin my life at this new school.

Oh Inktail! You caught on fantastically!!! How on earth did you know where I wanted to take the whole RP? I guess it's because I outright said no magic :P

Of course I meant that we would be discovering we all had superpowers!

Lia-

I twiddle nervously with my pencil as the principal, Miss Night, talks about the rules and regulations of the school. A strand of my boring-as-mud hair falls into my face, and I fix it, tucking it behind my ear. Focus, Lia, I tell myself, You have to have these memorized. What if you mess something up?!

I watch Miss Night's face intently as she scans the room, her eyes briefly resting on me. There's nothing special about her, but, somehow, in that short moment, my heart, like a little bird, flies out of its cage and reaches out to Miss Night. There's something about her that calls me to her. I promise myself that I will do well in her class. I will, no matter what.

I glance around the room, noticing the other students around me. A smiling blond girl sits next to me, smiling up at Miss Night. Her deep, glittering eyes seem to be filled with something strong, something powerful, that makes it hard to look her in the eye. In fact, it's so strong, I quickly dart my eyes away. It reminds me of when I was little, and reading Mowgli, how the animals couldn't look Mowgli in the eye. It sends shivers down my back. Across the aisle, two girls whisper to each other. i shake my head. Rude. A girl sinks quietly back into her chair, as if trying to avoid getting seen. She seems nice, though...

Suddenly, a rain shower explodes outside, startling me.  "Classes will still begin at 10:00 regardless of the storm!" Miss Night's steely voice interrupts the rain fall. She seems so authoratative, it's a wonder the rain itself doesn't obey her.

I get in line to collect my schedule, when the lights turn off. My breath sucks in. I've always been a little scared of the dark, and, no matter how hard I try to hide it, it always seems to get out at times like these. Luckily, the lights switch on again, and I breathe a sigh of relief. Thank goodness...

I grab my red folder, and tuck my pencil back behind my ear. I can't wait for class to start!

~Flake Dream

First classes begin soon...first classes begin soon...oh my gosh, this is terrifying. I must talk to Miss Night, explain to her what happened at my last school--

And here she is! Walking down the hallway at a brisk pace!

I throw a paper airplane at her. On it is a prepared message--

Dear Sasha Night,

My name is nobody. I have no name. I made it up. I'm an Orphan. Nobody bothered to name me. But, for the sake, my name that I go under is Flake. Flake Dream. Because it is innocent. Because it is quiet and shy.

At my last school, there was a murder. I won't go into details, but it involved sleeping powder, and a knife. The murder was meant for me, but it killed my best friend instead--my only friend. It seems like everywhere I go, people want to kill me...

I don't want to bring danger to your school, but this is my only place left. You deserve to know the truth. And if you choose to expell me..so be it.

-The Girl with No Name

The Airplane hits her perfectly. I quickly leave as she picks it up.

Kyr~

Miss Night stared at us as she gave her orientation speech. She locked eyes with a girl next to me-Lia, I think-for a moment before glancing at me. I smiled, and she stuttered over her words.

In a flash, the power went out. There was gasping, but in a moment the emergency lights were on.

"What was zhat about?" I muttered to the Lia girl. She looked surprised at my thick Frech accent, but shrugged, avoiding my eyes. I sighed and put on a pair of reflective sunglasses; Lia looked a tad guilty for a moment, but only an instant.

"Je m'appelle Kyr," I smiled, extending my hand.

"Lia," she said, smiling back.

I nodded. She'd be a friend.

We were ushered to our dormitories.

As I ascended the stairs, I began to trip.

As I fell, there was a strange noise; a low hum, a tri-tone struck in the air. I was pushed back to my feet by an unknown force.

Did I do that?

(I was thinking that Kyr can control spirits, or ghosts)
