Round robin!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Round robin!

Round robin!

Sam's feet felt heavier and heavier as they pounded against the ground. She wished she could just stop and take a rest, but that wasn't going to happen, she might lose her life if she did. A little voice in her head was calling, stop, stop, you have to stop. Atleast climb a tree or something, goblins hate tree's. but there were no tree's around.

It was holloween night and she was running away from a goblin. Her sister had dared her to knock on the door of the haunted house on their street, and look were it got her, running down an alley with a goblin at her heels. STOP. And thats what she did, she stopped, she had almost run into a dead end in the alley.

"Got ya, you little brat." the goblin grabbed the back of her neck and positioned her head so she could see his cold, black beady eyes. The goblin's breath smelled like rotten fish. It burned up her nose and into her lungs, then everything went black.

She opened her eyes gingerly.... half an hour later? An hour? Days? She had no way of knowing. Firelight flickered gently on the tree just in front of her, and she could hear the pop and crackle of a small campfire at her back. Sam rolled over slowly, unsure of what to expect. The goblin was tied to a tree a few feet away, stunned, and on the other side of the dancing flames stood a tall man wrapped in cloak of mottled green and grey, nearly indecipherable from the background. He caught the movement and looked her way. His deep, fluid voice filled the grove. "You were lucky. Very lucky. And very foolish. Whatever possesed you to walk into the grip of the entire force of the Wraith?"

"It was a dare, sir." Her hands shook. "What.... What's the Wraith, sir?"

"A dare.  Again, very foolish. And the Wraith is an organization of.... well, of creatures like that one. And he's one of the least powerful and frightening. The Wraith's objective is to sow havoc and fear everywhere they go. It worked with you. You fainted clear away. You're lucky I was nearby."

"Who... Who are you, sir?"

The man laughed. It was not an evil laugh, but not especially kind either. "My name would mean nothing to you. And I already know who you are, so don't bother explaining. Your father is a business colegue. If I were you, I'd be getting back home. The rest of the Wraith will come soon to find their missing goblin. I don't think you'd like to be here when that happens."

"No, sir. I wouldn't. But, please, where is home?" The man spun on his heel and lifted one hand, and the grove, the fire, the man, and the goblin were gone in a dissolving shower of sparkles, and Sam stood in front of her own door, her costume slightly soiled and her heart beating furiously, but safe. Who was that man?

She walked into her house and went to the computer to look up The wraith?  "Nothing," she said, "absolutely nothing.  Nothing about goblins or anything."

"Sam, time to go to bed.  What happened to your costume?" her mom said.

"Um, nothing.  I was just having some fun with friends," she said, sounding a little nervous; she was never a good liar.  "Um, Mom?"

"What honey?"

"What's The wraith?"

"I don't know. Who was telling you about it, anyway?"

"Friends," Sam said as she walked to her room and plopped down on her bed.

Who was that man?  What did the goblin want with me?  Those questions stuck in her head like glue as she drifted off to sleep.

She dreamed a nightmare. The an army of goblins attacked her. They fought and scratched and bit her. Suddenly, she woke up. She was in a barren wasteland, where her dream had taken place. What had happened? Where am I? She wondered. Then a faint memory seeped into her mind, from long past.

She had fell asleep in a forest. Her name was Ahtnamas. She fell asleep against the tree, where she dozed off into a dream. She dreamed of a world where her name was Sam, and goblins and magic didn't exist. Such a silly dream. She had thought. Then, she fell asleep again.

Sam's mother, Mureta, sat down at the kitchen table, feeling shell-shocked. How had her daughter found out about the Wraith? This was awful, a catastrophe. Kilhelm would have to hear about this. Whatever would he say?

After making sure that Sam was asleep, she sprinted up to her bedroom and, reaching inside the drawer of her bedside table, pulled out a small hand mirror. "Kilhelm Jordun," she whispered softly. Kilhelm's face appeared.

"Marrie," he whispered urgently. "Good to see you again. How's everything?"

"Not well," she said. "Today Nama came back from trick-or-treating-"

"Wha?" Kilhelm stared for a molment, and then snapped his fingers. "Ah, yes- trick-or-treating. The custom of dressing up in strange or fantastical attire and going door-to-door demanding candy from strangers. Typically practiced on All Hollow's Eve, tonight, am I right?"

Mureta smiled weakly. "Yes, Kilhelm," she replied. "Anyhow, she got back, and practically the first words out of her mouth were Do you know what the Wraith is? She said her friends told her, but as I've mentioned before, I think she has some remnants of Lusmos' curse- she's really a dreadful liar."

Kilhelm looked a bit ashy. "Eh, that's bad," he said.

Mureta gave him a duh, really? look.

"Okay," said Kilhelm, "I'll alert Dixon if it's that serious. The worst would be an encounter, but I don't think we'll have to worry ourselves about that, right?"

Mureta shrugged. "Dunno, but better safe than sorry. Tell Bestella hey for me, okay?"

"Right," said Kilhelm, "bye then."

"Bye."

Sam woke to her mother walking down the stairs muttering to herself, "How did Sam find out about the wraith?" again and again.  Mom know's about the wraith?  Why didn't she tell me she knew about it?  getting up, Sam quietly walked out of her room.  Walking down the steps Sam was carefull not to step on the last one; it made a loud creak sound.

"Mom, why didn't you tell me about the wraith?" Sam asked, startling her mother.  "Mom, I heard you on the steps, you were muttering, 'How did Sam know about the wraith', or somethng like that."

"Honey, let's sit down on the couch, I'll tell you about the wraith."  Sitting down on the couch, Mureta said, "The wraith is a organization of powerful wizards, monster's, and creatures I can't even describe.  They are all evil and are trying to take over the world and make everyone their slaves.  Few people know about the wraith.  That's all I can say now.  How did you learn about the wraith"

"Melanie had dared me to knock on the haunted house.  A goblin came out and sarted chasing me.  I thought that it was just a trick at first, but then, he kept on running and I knew He was real.  He caught me and he stared into my eyes, and then, suddenly, i was in a clearing in some woods, the goblin was tied to a tree, and there was this man.  he wouldn't tell me his name or anything.  Then he sent me home somewhere."

"Um, but also, Mom," said Sam, a bit hesitantly, "goblins are, um, real?"

Mureta nodded sheepishly.

Sam stared at her mother, looking concerned. "S'good, Mom," she said, "but maybe we should get some sleep?"

All that Mureta could offer was a faint- and superficial- smile as her daughter galloped back up the stairs to the bedroom she shared with Melanie. Neither of the girls were her biological daughters- they were changelings, found by the Wave. The Wave was the society that battled the Wraith, working for good. There was much speculation about the girls- Sam's real name was not, in fact, Samantha, and there were thoughts that she was the daughter of a powerful sorceress and ally to the Wave, long since disapeared after being kidnapped. Melanie's past was much more shadowy.

But Mureta really disliked dwelling on such things, for then she became emotional. She had think, for now.

For instance, what was the story behind the house? How had a Goblyne gotten there? Was the man in the woods working for good, or evil? What had possessed the normally somewhat shy and mellow Melanie to dare her sister to do such a dangerous thing? These questions and more swirled in Mureta's mind as Halloween drew to a close.

Melanie startled from sleep as her alarm clock went off. She quickly turned it it off. She yawned as she sat up. The blinking numbers of the clock read two a.m. "what I do for them!" she thought "what sane girl gets up at two a.m.!" She regretfully thew the covers off and kneeled in her bed. She swung one foot over the side of the bunk bed. As she climbed down she watched Sam like a hawk. The ladder creaked and Melanie froze. Sam murmured something about a strange laugh and fell back into a deep sleep. She reached the bottom and slipped her slippers on. She started to creep out, but seemed to remember something. She glanced at Sam and snapped. Melanie's sheets re-arranged themselves into a Melanie-sized lump that rose and fell, as though alive! Melanie crept out of the room and tiptoed to the back door. She opened it just a crack and slipped outside, softly closing the door behind her. She padded through the wet grass and snuck behind a tree. She put her palm onto the rippled bark of the old oak tree. Suddenly, a section of the tree opened, like a door! Melanie laughed cruelly and stepped into the murky black depths of the tree. She gasped as she fell like a rock.

"Ooof!" she grunted as she landed on something soft "I'll never get used to that!" she said outloud. She got up and put her hand on the cool stone walls of the tunnel she had fallen into.

" Rhiana Ardace, secret agent of the Wraith" read a mechanical voice. Melanie, or Rhiana, as she was called here, stepped inside the stone halls of Aryxon, the secret meeting-place of the Wraith....

((I knew it, I just KNEW that the sister was evil! *victory dance*

Sorry...

Okay, flashback time-))

"I don't think that I will ever understand you!" cried Lusmos in frustration. Her younger sister, Leissa, retorted, "Perhaps if you'd stop trying to figure me out, for darkness sakes!"

"The Wraith, of all things!" continued Lusmos, wringing her hands. "The Wraith!"

"Lay off!" snapped Leissa. "You're not my boss."

"No," said Lusmos angrily, "but I guess Vladwalt is."

Leissa's eyes flashed. "These are my affairs, not yours. You'd do well not to interfere."

"Leissa, your daughter."

"I will do with Rhiana as I please," said Leissa. "Just as you choose how to treat your own daughter."

"Leissa, I cannot hold company with you anymore," said Lusmos. "You are a disgrace to our family." She left the room.

Leissa tried to ignore her elder sister's stinging words, for she knew that Lusmos was unable to lie.

Walking out of the stone-walled room, Leissa almost ran into her daughter, Rhiana.  "I have come with some news." said Rhiana with a pleased look on her face.

"Good news, or bad news?" said Leissa, already knowing.

"Both."

Leissa looked surprised, "Both!"

"Yes, both."

The passegway was cold, dark, and long, their footsteps lasting long and shrill.

When they finnally reached the black doors of the wratihs meating place, everyone was seated.  "I have come with good news," started Rhiana, hew voice loud, but then suddenly quieted, "and bad news.  I had Ahtnamas knock on the great lords door, and Gyunth came out and chased my 'sister'. Once he caught her, that man Dixon, he appeared and they vanished.  Ahtnamas was paralized, so I don't think that she knew that Dixon had saved her, she thinks it was just a day-dream.  But then she asked Merretta what The Wraith is and I know she woke up while she was with Dixon.  murretta said she didn't know and she asked Ahtnamas where she heard about it, she said friends, but she still has some of your curse in her Lusmos, she was lieing!"  Cheers came from the evil croud.  "Muretta didn't tell Ahtnamas about the wraith and she isn't planning to.  That is all I have to say."

Another person stood to speak; this was a pale, gray-skinned man with a sharp and chiseled face and evil-looking features. His voice was calm, but had an undertone of a threat held in it.

"I sent a kii into the house of the girl," he announced. "It should be taking action by tomorrow. Rhiana, you would be best advised to stay here awhile under the pretense of having a 'slumber party' with a friend."

"Of course, Lord Aof," said Rhiana, careful not to meet his eyes.

"And of Lusmos?" Aof asked Leissa.

Leissa looked annoyed, but dutifully answered, "She's remains alive, sir, and available for whatever you need."

"Good," Aof said. "Now, I have devised a plan..."

Sam tossed and turned as she dreamed

She was laying on a cold stone floor. Her head throbbed in a dream-pain. She touched a hand to her forehead. It felt sticky and her dream-self gasped as she realized it was blood! She braced herself for pain and opened her eyes. She had a plain white gown on, nothing like something she would have worn in the real world.

"Ahtnamas, where are you!" she heard a voice call. It sounded sweet, melodic, like a soft summers day. 'Ahtnamas!" She tried to call to the voice, but her lips wouldn't move.

"Ahtnamas is no more, Lusmos" a snarling voice called. "Your daughter is dead!"

                          "No!" Lusmos cried

"I saw her burned in the fire that killed you husband and our parents. You are now a widow and almost childless!" Liessa taunted heartlessly "Now, you will depart from this world, you and the child inside you! You will feel the pain I felt as I saw my duaghter taken from me! You will suffer as much as I did when they pulled Rhianna from my hands! You will die slowly, I promise you that, Sister!

"You are no sister of mine, Neissa. I belong to the Wave and you to the Wraith. I will not die by your hands! I will have my Alyssa. She will carry on the Leonne name and our promise to fight the Wraith!

Sam/Ahtnamas heard a bang and sensed that Lusmos was gone. Sam/Ahtnamas sighed as she realized the Lumos had escaped with her unborn Alyssa. Then, she woke up.

( O.k. Let me get this straight. Sam=Ahtnamas. Melanie=Rhianna & agent of the Wraith. Muretta=Sam & Melanie's adopted mom/agent of the Wave. Lusmos=Ahtnamas' real mom. Liessa=Rhianna's real mom. Ahtnamas doesn't know her real name is Ahtnamas or that Lusmos is her real mom. She doesn't know she even exists. Ahtnamas real last name=Leonne Alyssa=Lusmos daughter, now 12. Ahtnamas was 2 when her mom dissapears with unborn Alyssa so Ahtnamas is 15. Rhianna is same age. I'm not sure about the ages, so let me know if we should change them :-). This story ROCKS!!!)

Sam sat up in the bed, breathing hard.  She felt her hand to her forhead.  "No blood."  Sam calmed down a little bit.  Breathing deeply and rubbing her hands to her forhead, Sam looked at the alarm clock.  quarter past two.  She got up, looking at her older sister's sleeping body on the top bunk.  "Melanie?" Sam said, quietly.  "Are you awake?"  No reply.

Sam walked out the door of the bright colored room.  Walking to her moms room she saw her mother at her desk, sipping her coffe and reading some papers.  "Mom." Sam said, startleing her mother for the second time in one night. "I just had a dream."

"Was it a scary dream?  The last time you were so frightened of a dream you had to come to me was, what?  Seven years ago, when you were eight."

"No mom, my dream was...I would say...unusual."

"unusual how?" Murreta asked.

"Well, it was something to do with The wraith."

"Uh huh.  Continue.  Would you like to tell me about it?"

"Yes, I would love to tell you about it.  It might help the wave..."

((Oh, Emma, that was awesome... unfortunately, right in the middle, you used the name "Rhianna," and it sort of broke the spell... because isn't there, like, a rapper or something named Rhianna? (Ew.)

About the ages- let's say that Melanie/Rhianna isn't exactly Sam/Ahtnamas' age, because then it wouldn't make sense for them to be sisters, unless they were twins, and I think that we already said that M/R was younger than S/A. So that she's not younger than Alyssa, her twelve-year-old cousin, let's say she's going on fourteen. (Oh, evil thirteen-year-old- bad news for both the Wave and the Wraith. ;) )

Now, Lusmos is currently in Aof's prison- we'll say that he's the human leader of the Wraith, good?- and Leissa is working for Aof. She's in a meeting with her daughter M/R. This is being held in an underground hideout inside of a giant tree. Accurate?

Then, back at home, Mureta is chatting with S/A. I'm guessing that a full confession of Mureeta's secret activities, etc., will ensue. Or maybe not. *shrug*

Now, about Mureta's husband- is she married, or simply a Wave agent who offered to adopt the two cousins for their own and others' safety, telling them that their "father" was killed years before?

And we'll have to get Alyssa's status too...

*is control freak* Sorry. :)

No, organizing it like this is good! If you want, we can change M/R's secret name to Althea, but that could be confusing! Did you like how I did the name thing. Leissa and Lusmos and Ahtnamas and Alyssa!! Get it? Lets say that Leissa is married to someone named Berel, Lusmos was married to  Balin, and Muretta is married to Erik. They have 2 other natural daughters. O.k., so I think We have everything figured out. It's like this:

Sam: real name=Ahtnamas. (15) Her mom is Lusmos, but she doesn't know that. She thinks her mom is Muretta *see Muretta*. She was left behind after Lusmos *see Lusmos* was told she was dead. Her real father was killed in the fire that suposedly killed her.

Melanie: real name=Rhianna (13.8) (may be changing to Althea). She is Leissa's *see Leissa* daughter. She is a secret agent of The Wraith. She pretends that she thinks Muretta is her mom and Sam/Ahtnamas is her sister, but she knows who they really are.

Lusmos: Ahtnamas' real mom. Agent of The Wave. She has Ahtnamas and Alyssa. Her husband, Balin, was killed 12 years ago. She thought Ahtnamas was killed also. Her sister is Leisssa. Prisoner of Lord Aof.

Alyssa: Daughter of Lusmos and Balin. Ahtnamas' younger sis.
Secretly being trained in the ways of a Sorceress by her mom. In hiding
with her dad.

Balin: Killed 12 years ago. Former husband of Lusmos.

Leissa: Rhianna's mom. Berel's wife. Agent of The Wraith. Told her sister, Lusmos, that Ahtnamas was dead. Had Rhianna taken from her, by The Wave, soon after birth.

Berel: Leissa's husband. Rhainna's dad. Agent of The Wraith.

Muretta: Foster mom to S/A and M/R. Doesn't know M/R is evil. Wife of Erik. Agent of The Wave.

Erik: Muretta's husband. Foster dad to S/A and M/R. Agent of The Wave.

Jessica: Daughter of Muretta and Erik. Doesn't know about The Wave.

Ellie: Daughter of Muretta and Erik. Doesn't know about The Wave.

Yes, I to am a control freak!!! :-) SmileLaughingWink
