Round robin!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Round robin!

Round robin!

Sam's feet felt heavier and heavier as they pounded against the ground. She wished she could just stop and take a rest, but that wasn't going to happen, she might lose her life if she did. A little voice in her head was calling, stop, stop, you have to stop. Atleast climb a tree or something, goblins hate tree's. but there were no tree's around.

It was holloween night and she was running away from a goblin. Her sister had dared her to knock on the door of the haunted house on their street, and look were it got her, running down an alley with a goblin at her heels. STOP. And thats what she did, she stopped, she had almost run into a dead end in the alley.

"Got ya, you little brat." the goblin grabbed the back of her neck and positioned her head so she could see his cold, black beady eyes. The goblin's breath smelled like rotten fish. It burned up her nose and into her lungs, then everything went black.

((I'm gonna go with Bastella being very, very stupid, not really evil))

Suddenly there was a flash of smoke and Bastella crumpled to the ground. Behind her stood Great Aunt Laurel.

"Where's Ama??!!!!" she shouted. She looked at Ama lying on the floor and didn't seem to surprised! "Quickly, Alyssa! Bring me some cool water and a pillow! Muretta! Get the antidote out of Bastella's cloak." Muretta and Alyssa got to work immediately at the sharp tones of Laurel's voice, while Killhelm looked at Bastella's fallen form incredulously.

"Wh-wh-wha-wha-wha-huh?" stuttered Killhelm.

"Your wife was working for the Wraith. She poisoned the girl and all of you. She added something to Ama's flowton just to, quote "put her to sleep for a while." I am sorry." Killhelm, but that's the truth." said Laurel quickly. She didn't seem to care, but for a moment, a sorowful and pitying look flitted across her wrinkled face.

Killhelm just stared. A blank look pasted upon him. Suddenly, his face filled with rage.

"That woman!!!" he nearly screamed "I can't believe her! I gave her love and-and-and she gave m-m-m-me . . ." a choked, tight sound escaped from his throat. "This," he motioned to Laurel, raising Ama's head up onto a pillow and giving her sips of water. "I will get revenge, but first, I will send her back with a warning!" He snapped, and a sign reading "You have been warned" attached to the traitor's chest. With another snap, she disappeared. "Let's hurry and administer the antidote." His voice had lost its fire. Instead, it was filled with hurt and betrayal. The betrayal of his life, his love. Bastella.

Melanie(( or whatever name you changed her to)) smiled as she once again won the poker game.

"I love these mindless human games," Melanie thought,"It is all luck, unless you cheat a bit with magic." The rest of the table grumbled, and one by one they all left. Except for Melanie. She was waiting for the three generals of the Wraith to arrive.

About an hour after the poker game had ceased, the meeting of the three generals and Melanie commenced. No names were spoken, only titles. Melanie was general number one, the man on her left was general number two, the wyvern on his left was number three, and the woman on the wyvern's left was number four. Greetings were exchanged in a matter of seconds, so there would be more time to talk about Bastella.

"She is an idiot," rasped the wyvern, "We told her to do it subtlely, not directly."

"She did do her job," mummured the woman. Then with a smile said,  "It is so unfortunate I gave her the wrong antidote. Oops, my mistake."

"Your spies are very fast," complimented the man, "But I think I have a piece of information that your spies do not."

Everyone crowed around him,"What is it?"

"The Wave is at it's weakest," he told them, "And Ama is their trump card. They will try to save her, sending wave after wave of magicians to help her." The man chuckled then continued((I wonder if anyone will get the joke)), "Furtheremore, the Wraith is at it's peak. We have conquered surronding districts of the Wave. Our economy has never been higher, and so many have joined our cause. 30 dragons have been bred to adulthood, our mermen fight with much enthusiam after we gave them a device to use human legs, or their fishy tails, and, finally, our magicians exceed 1000. It is the time to strike. We will crush the Wave until they yield. But we will not stop there. Oh, we will burn their cities to the ground, and leave nothing but debris."

Everyone thought for a momment, then Melaine asked "All in favor?" Everyone raised their hand. A tall man appeared in the doorway.

"Ah, Dixon," said the wyvern, "Prepare the troops for battle, we are ready to attack."

Meanwhile, Great-Aunt Laurel stiffened.  A beeping came from her sash and she pulled out a small screen. On it, the wyvern was just greeting Dixon.  She plugged in headphones and listened for a minute.  A look of horror crossed her face.

"What's wrong?" asked Kilhelm and Muretta at the same time.

"We," said Laurel, her eyes wide, "are in trouble.  Summon all the wizards you can, the Wraith is about to attack us."

Kilhelm leaped from his seat as if he had been stung by a bee.  "At this time?" he yelled.  "We've all just been poisoned, we're still recovering, Ama here is still unconcious, and we're about to be attacked?"

Alyssa stared.  "How do you know?" she whispered.  "No one knows where the Wraith's headquarters are!  Yet you can see it with a simple screen!"  Her eyes hardened and narrowed.  "Are you a traitor?"

Great-Aunt Laurel snapped, and Alyssa found herself pinned against the wall by magic.  "Of course not! I have a secret contact - Melanie.  I gave her a pair of jeweled barrettes for her birthday.  They have tiny cameras hidden in them.  She wears them almost every day and it gives me stereo vision on the screen.  As to the beeping, I set up a device that filters things out that we already know and beeps when something important is coming."

Ama stirred on the floor and Laurel bent down quickly to give her a sip of antidote.

((Thanks, Emma! You're great too!

I'm not going to post right now, because I see that Mke just did, and I'd like to prevent conflict, so.

Also... Kilhelm "nearly" screamed? :) What would he sound like if he was "completely" screaming?

No, but really, that was funny. You're good.))

((Dixon?! Traitor! He was supposed to be good! :O

Kilhelm's thoughts on the matter...))

Kilhelm mentally screamed at himself for awhile, and then realized that he was actually talking out loud, muttering under his breath. Mureta turned curiously concerned eyes to him.

"Kilhelm?"

"Whaa?" Kilhelm snapped out of his thoughts. "Oh... who's attacking us?"

Laurel, helping Ama to her feet, looked at him. "Kilhelm, you need to get a grip on yourself. We'll need your skills in the upcoming war."

Kilhelm set his face sternly and nodded.

((Okay, sorry... I'm doing that multi-tasking thing again and it's really difficult... :/ ))

"Warrior, Magic-Makers, attention!" Killhelm's brassy voice rang out, filing the training arena that all members of the Wave had gathered in. The battle ready warrior and powerful magicians straightened their lines as all talking seized. A heavy silence settled across the troops. "We must work harder than ever! We have over 2,000 people, but only 300 magicians! The Wraith has over 1,00 magicians. We need to be stronger then them! I think that as long as we are working for good, we will win, but when our ranks are filled with traitors, this will NOT work! Benceil, Fordon, Anita, and Sciale, step forward!" Three men stepped forward, covered in battle armor. A delicate looking Asian woman stepped forward, also. "You three are traitors!" The crowd gasped "I have been informed by an exclusive source, that you are working for the Wraith!" Another gasp was let out. "Is this true?" he questioned, there was a hint of danger to his voice.

"No, your excelen-" started Fordon, but he was cut off.

"YES! We are, and you are all idiots!" bust out Anita! She looked so frail and inoccent!

"C'mon,  boys!" she siad lets go. Suddenly, there was a tremendous boom that thundered and echoed throughout the arena. All four traitors fell dead!

"No, I did not kill them," reasured Killhelm. "They tried to transport out of here, but I had a spell put around here that stops you from leaving." His voice trailed off, leaving wisps of danger and fright circling the arena.

"Sire," said a pale-faced man, stepping forward, his cold voice ringing through the arena. "With all due respect, what exactly is your exclusive source? I understand if you wish not to disclose it to all of these"- he swept his arm around the place suggestively -"all of these more inferior ranking folk, but if you are so sure of your 'source,' then undoubtedly the place arena is safe?" His lip curled.

Kilhelm seemed to falter for a few minutes. "D'Lubeo, I will thank you to mind your own business. You have been a faithful agent in the past, but such actions may lead to trouble for your reputation."

"Reputation," spat D'Lubeo. "What would you know of reputations, Kilhelm? And minding one's own business, Kilhelm, and being faithful?" He snarled. "You speak of that which you do not know, Kilhelm."

"I know more than you think, D'Lubeo." Kilhelm's eyes were on fire.

"And yet not the things in which your own wife is tangled," D'Lubeo sneered. He turned to the assembly before him. "Just in the past twenty-four hours Bestella was discovered to be a spy for the Wraith, endeavouring to poison the girl spoken of in the prophecy. Bestella has now vanished and is on the loose, working against us with the infrmation given to her as one of our senior leaders."

A collective gasp was let out from the crowd.

"How do you know these things?" Kilhelm demanded.

"You have your sources, and I mine. But be warned, Kilhelm- your naivety will be the Wave's downfall." With a flourish of his dark cape, Darl D'Lubeo swept out of the audatorium.

We also need more army thingies for the Wave.  Maybe Dixon is good.  Maybe the army's that Dixon controls are actually going to work for rthe Wave.  And the wave doesn't even know it.  And when they go to "attack' the Wave they actually join them?  Because the wave is WAY over powered by th e wraith, I think the wave should have a little more people on its side, don't you think?  And it would give another twist to the story.

A lot of battles in ancient history were fought where one side was far overpowered by the other, yet the smaller side won (or almost did).  See Thermopylae, Salamis, etc.  But yes, I think Dixon should be a double agent anyway.
