My First Solo

My First Solo Write!

OK, this is my first time doing a solo write! But I know I can do it!

You are a gryphon, a young gryphon. You live in a time of great peril, your homland is being invaded my evil birds called the Snides. (More on those latter). The world is full of fear, because where ever the Snides land, the trees rot and the flowers die.

Here's mine

Name: Nika Snikk 

Personality: loud, outspoken, fierce isn't afraid to speak her mind. 

Aperance: small gryphon, golden-brown head, big sharp amber eyes, feathers have flashes of black in them, honey-brown talons, and a golden body.

Other: Training to be a Defender.

IMPORTANT! THERE ARE ONLY GOING TO BE FIVE MAIN CHARTERS INCLUDING ME! FIRST COME FIRST SERVEd! IF YOU AREN'T ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE COMING THEN YOU WILL GET A MINOR PART! 

No bad guys, sorry but you all will have to be the good guys. Also I need TWO gryphons to be in an outpost defending against the Snides. Like before, only the first two people who's post I read will get to be the Defenders.  

Also! The first post when we start will be the PROLOG. In the next post you will all be mentioned. Hopfully I will be able to post every other day.

Chapter 4~~ New Friends. 

The gryphons were sitting in their dorm sitting room. It had nice creamy brown  walls and white carpet tinted light brown. The couches were big and poofy, with dark brown and brown stripes. There were two wingback chairs, both golden yellow. The mahogany coffe table was the perfect brown color. But, the various feathers, bones, and random figures showed that this room was home to three young gryphons who still protested against cleaning their room. 

"Maybe we can go see the Defender gryphons in the hospital!" Valley says.

"We should totally do that!" Nika agrees. 

"I think we'll have to sneak in, Nurse doesn't like 'Featherbrained gryphons getting under her talons' remember."  Nightlynn sighs.

"AH HA!" Valley yells.

"WHAT?" Nika and Nightlynn ask.

"I FINALLY found my armadillo figure!!" Valley squawks.

"Oh, I thought it was an idea about how we could sneak into the Healing Room" Nightlynn sighs.

"Well, we could go in there asking for some potion thingy for sore muscles." Nika says. 

Valley giggles into a pillow and throws it at Nika.

"I do believe it's called poultice silly." Valley giggles.

"Alright! That's settled, we can go there now!" Nightlynn says quickly, before a full blown pillow fight could erupt.

The three gryphons enter the Healing Room, they ask for a poultice for their sore wings, and are glad when the soothing mixture eases the pain in their wings. The two hurt Defenders were both in a bed by the window. One was pure black, with bronze talons and a beak. She was sitting in her bed, deep in thought. The other had bluish wings, with a golden body and dark golden spots on her haunches. Her green eyes are open as she reads a book she holds in her black brown talons. The two gryphons look much better, still a few of their feathers are singed but they can fly now. 
"What's it like being a Defender!?" Valley asks, as she trips over to their beds.
Her two companies follow more slowly, having not tripped over the floor.
"Well, it was pretty good. The training we went through was pretty tough. It was all worth it, except the food was horrible." The golden one says.
"I'm so sorry! We haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Nightlynn" Nightlynn says.
"I'm Nika." Nika growls.
"And I'm Valley!" Valley chirps.
"Charmed, I'm Skydash and this is my friend and wingmate Thunder." Skydash says warmly.
"A WINGMATE?!" Nika screeched.
"SHHHH." a nurse shushes
"Sorry," Nika whispers. "Isn't wingmate training hard? I hear that you have to become so close that you can read your wingmate's body language in the thick of a battle. And if you're REALLY good you can talk to each other just by exchanging looks!" 
"That's true. Let me tell you, I was assigned Thunder to be my wingmate at the Outpost. I must say I wasn't too pleased, but I put up with it because it was my duty." Skydash says.
"HA! Put up with it because it was your duty? You begged to get a new wingmate, don't sugarcoat it Skydash!" Thunder snaps.
"Yes, that's true. But I'm glad I stayed with Thunder. She's a good friend." Skydash says.
The three gryphons stare at the two Defenders in awe. They couldn't believe that they were talking to the gryphons.
"Alright! Visiting time is over! You three need to go do training." a nurse says. "And Thunder, Skydash you're free to go! Nurse gave you the all clear." 
The three gryphons, with the two Defenders leave the Healing Room. Nightlynn, Nika, and Valley  head to the training arena and Thunder and Skydash go off to visit the sights in the city.

Chapter 5~~ The Plan
It had been a week since Nika, Valley, and Nightlynn had visited the two hurt Defenders, and during that time the three gryphons had been planning to go find the Snikes themselves. They are sitting in their sitting room, discussing their plans again.
"Are you sure that going to find the Snikes is a good idea?" Valley asks for the twentieth time.
"Yes! If we find them we can tell General Fluffy Feathers where they are and we could get rid of them in one quick attack!" Nightlynn says.
"I don't think it'll be that easy." Nika sighs.
"Why?" Nightlynn asks, "They can't be all that smart. I mean they're birds! They're just probably following their instincts!" 
"Nightlynn, do you think that giant fire bomb was instinct? If you had seen them you would see right away, that their eyes glimmer with evil  intellect, I don't think they would be that stupid to have all of their forces in one place." Nika says.
"So it's not going to be easy." Nightlynn says. 
"Maybe we could ask Thunder and Skydash if they want to come and help us find the Snikes!" Valley gasps.
"THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!!" Nika yells. 
The three gryphons rush to the door, trying to get through all at the same time. This was a bad idea as it took them a good five minutes to get untangled and out the door.

The gryphons found Thunder and Skydash in the courtyard, enjoying a nice snack. The courtyard was a beautiful place, with its stone floor broken by the weeds poking through. Vines grow up the sides of the walls, blossoming with red and purple flowers added to the wild untamed feeling. Red, orange, and blue poppies sprout up randomly and with the full grown apple trees in full bloom, with their blossoms falling gently to the ground in the wind. The sunset was casting a spectacular array of colors across the sky. The three hurrying gryphons saw none of that. They were too intent on asking the Defenders to help them find and defeat the Snikes.
"We were wondering if you wanted to go with us to find the Snikes?" Valley says in a rush.
Thunder and Skydash look up in surprise.
"If you do come, your help will be appreciated." Nightlynn adds.
"Well, sure I'm in." Skydash says.
Her answer is greeted by the smiles of the three young gryphons.
"Sure I'll come. If only to make sure you don't get into any trouble." Thunder growls.
"AWESOME!!!!! This is going to be so much fun! We should go right now!" Valley gasps.
"Right now? OK, sure let's do that." Nika says, smiling. 
Thunder and Skydash look at each other, when they agreed they didn't think they would go right away. 
"All right let's go." Skydash sighs.
The five gryphons take off. The black, blue, golden, and orange colors blend into the sunset as they set off on their journey. But their departure didn't go as silent as they planned. A gryphon saw them leave, after pacing for a while the gryphon sighs, and leaps to follow them.

I'm so glad you like it! One day I'll get published. I still need a name! Any name ideas feel free to help! We are going to the aquarium today, so I may not post today. But I will post tomorrow!

Chapter 6~~~ The First Night
The gryphons were uneasy, they had decided to camp in the woods when it became too dark to see. But gryphons were cliff animals and it's not uncommon for gryphons to be a little claustrophobic.
"That's it! We're dead. I can't see anything and I feel like the trees are reaching out to grab me. I don't like it and I want to go back to a more open place." Valley gasps.
"I don't like it any more than you, but what can we do? I don't know if there is a city anywhere near us." Skydash says.
"Shhh. What's that?" Nika hissed.
Silence fills the camp, the gryphons strain their ears. They can hear the wind and the groaning of the trees. The crackling and popping fire sends ashes into the night. And the night birds were calling and the crickets were chirping. But they didn't know what they were listening for.
"Do you mean the quiet night, or the sound of footsteps?" Nightlynn says sarcastically , for the night was anything but quiet, and footsteps would be a surprise.
"No no..... I guess I just imagined it." Nika sighs.
"Then stop talking and go to sleep." Thunder growls from her perch up in a tree.
Valley lays down and closes her eyes, trying to image she's in her bed at home, with plenty of flying space. Nightlynn climbs up a tree, her black feathers blending into the dark brown of the tree. Skydash lays down, preening herself before bed. And Nika sat up, still listening for her mysterious sound. After a while Nika starts to relax, and the other gryphons start to slip into sleep when part of the trees falls down and lands in the clearing. At the sight of a strange gryphon Nika and Skydash leap up, ready to defend their camp. Valley jumps up and grips the branch above her, looking down at them like some strange koala. Nightlynn, feeling Valley's claws as they grab the branch, panics and falls down into the clearing. Luckily for her she landed on something soft, unluckily that soft something was Skydash. Thunder sits up and looks down cooly, undisturbed from her branch. The fire lights up the gryphon and the travellers see that he's pure black, with shiny black talons and a beak. But they notice that his black feathers shine majestically with iridescent light.
"Who are you?" Nika asks sharply.
The gryphons eyes flicker with annoyance, but it's gone just as fast. So fast that the gryphons looking at him started to think they imagined it.
"I'm Anthony." Anthony says, " And why are you hanging from a tree?"
Valley blushes and drops lightly to the ground. 
"Well you scared me and I jumped up into that tree." Valley snaps. 
"Why are you here?"  Nightlynn asks, having untangled herself from Skydash.
"Yes, don't you know that it's rude to drop in without revealing your presence." Skydash growls.
"My apologies, I just thought you would like to know that there is a nice little town just over there, that I thought you might like to stay in." Anthony says. 
The five gryphons were wary, the chances of meeting a gryphon in the woods were very slim, and the gryphons were loathe to trust him.
"I would love to sleep at the village!" Valley says, " Come on guys! Don't be such grumpy grumps! I don't think it would be a bad idea to go sleep at the village. Anthony, could you show us the way?" 
"I would love to!" Anthony says happily.
He spreads his big dark, black, wings reflecting the orange of the fire. Valley spreads her golden wings, looking like a tiny little gold finch next to an eagle. 
"Ok fine. I'll come." Nika says.
The gryphons lift up into the air, after putting out the fire Thunder joins them, leaving the now empty campsite behind them.

Chapter 7~~ The Town
When the gryphons entered the town they were tired beyond understanding and were quite glad when Anthony handled their payment to the inn keeper. The last thing they remembered was a mumbled good night before they crashed into sleep. The sun came up the next morning, a blazing ball of fire that cheerfully glared into the sleeping gryphons' eyes until they woke up with a groan.
"Good morning sleepy heads! Up you go! It's time for lunch!" Anthony called cheerfully to them.
"LUNCH!!!!!??????? I MISSED BREAKFAST!?" Nika roared.
"Nika, won't you please use your inside voice ? You know, instead of a roar you could yell?" Nightlynn sighs. 
"Sorry, is this better?" Nika asks.
"Much, thank you." Nightlynn says.
"Why do we have to get up? I was having a wonderful dream. It was great! It had something to do with a volcano.....
Ok maybe not that good." Valley groans.
"Come on sleepy heads! Skydash and Thunder have filled me in on what you're trying to find. I have some important things to share! And you can have your lunch." Anthony says.
After much groaning and prodding Nika, Valley, and Nightlynn stomped downstairs to get some brunch. 
"Glad to see you finally came to join us." Thunder growls.
"Don't worry, Thunder is still grumpy because she didn't get all her beauty rest in." Skydash teased.
"You're just jealous because I got more sleep than you." Thunder says.
"All right, I hear you're going to find the Snikes?" Anthony asks.
Five heads nod in conferment.
"Good. I have traveled far and wide. And I have heard many, many rumors. But the most strange things occur near Mt. Ignis. I don't know how many gryphons know this but Mt. Ignis is a volcano. Some say it's still a live volcano, and that's true. Back to the strange things. Gryphons near it say they hear horrible screaming, and once a gryphon went there to check it out. He came back with his once emerald green feathers gray. No, they weren't covered in soot, they turned gray. And his yellow eyes, are now pure black. He sits in his room at the hospital, scared to eat, drink, and even move. Nurses passing by at night claim he's screaming 'NO NO! You can't... Not that, anything but that....' And then he goes quiet again. His name is Bright Feathers, but he is now called Dark Heart. You may ask why, well he only answers to that name. He's held in the Happy Roost Hospital, in the big city of Egghattan. If you want to know what happened you could go there to see him. Or you can head to Green Valley, and visit Mt. Ignis. So what will it be? Each place is a weeks flight from here if you fly nonstop through the day." Anthony whispers.
He was a good story teller, and it took a while for the gryphons to realize it was the end.
"We should go to Egghattan!" Valley says, "It'll  be fun! Besides, I don't think anyone here has gone there." 
"So, you want to go there to have fun?" Thunder says.
"Yes! Come on! PLEASE!!!!!!" Valley pleads, but under her happy outside she shudders from her dream, she just remembered the whole thing and it was not pleasant.
