After a while, the gryphons return with their shells. Nightlynn's conch shell was pure black, absorbing the sun. Little hard to see spots shinned silver when the sun shinned on it just so. Valley's clam shell was a swirl of color, it looked like it was dusted in glitter when held in the light. Nika's shell was shaped like a snail shell. It was a golden brown color, with black patterns on it. And looking closely at the shell reveled a map of the Casper Sea, but sadly no one saw the map painted onto the shell long ago by a brave explorer named Julius.

"So who won!?" Valley asks.

"Well........." Thunder says.

"The judges need to talk." Skydash says, pulling Thunder to a quiet spot.

The three young gryphons wait with batted breath, who will win? Snatches of the conversation float over.

"Yes, that's fine. But what if....."

They hold their shell, knowing that THEIR shell is the best and that they will surly win. Soon the judges nod, and walk over to announce the winner.

"After much talking, and thinking, and arguing. We have decided that the winner is........................................................................... NIGHTLYNN!!!" Skydash yells happily.

Nightlynn leaps up and cheers, Nika and Valley congratulate her while glaring at Thunder and Skydash for not choosing their shell.

"Are we done? Because we need to go." Thunder rumbles.

"Yup! Let's go." Nika says.

The gryphons put their shell into their pouch and leap into the air, following Thunder and Skydash as they lead the way across the sea.

Soon they see dark storm clouds on the horizon, they had been flying for two hours already and where hoping that a storm wouldn't brew up. The wind picks up, blowing into the determined gryphons' faces. Sea birds fly away from the storm, swooping up and under the gryphons, ignoring the fact that they could eat them in one gulp. The waves below begin to rise higher and higher, trying to swallow the flying gryphons above. Then, the storm was upon them.

"STAY TOGETHER! TRY AND RISE ABOVE THE CLOUDS!!!" Thunder roars.

The gryphons nod, they can barely see anything, with the dark clouds around them. The rain pours down, pounding
their winds and making them heavy with water. Their clear second eyelid flicks over their eyes, keeping the air and water out of their eyes. Flashes of lightning burst so close to the gryphons that they can feel the heat. Thunder boomed right after the flashes, making the gryphons deaf. Nika was looking down to the waves when a flash went off, and saw a huge THING riding the waves. She saw the dark black of the back, and the flashing yellow teeth, and finally the eyes, full of hatred and hunger before the flash ended and she was blind again. They must stay in the air or the THING would eat them. This went on for quite some time, lighting, thunder, and then relief for a short while. Then, the pounding of the water and the flying becomes too much, Valley falls down to the shore. She's followed by Thunder, then Nightlynn, Nika, and finally Skydash, four sodden shapes hurling to the waves bellow, landing on an old long forgotten island.

And here's our new post!!!!!

~~~~
The sound of waves wake the gryphons. The sun was high in the sky, shedding a LOT of light onto the gryphons below. Palm trees sway gently in the breeze. Seagulls land on the unmoving shapes, peaking at the feathers and feet of these strange new creatures, while a purple and green snail wave their eye stalks crossly at them. Crabs walk over the sand, looking with displeasure at the rude creatures who have landed and destroyed their homes. The gulls fly off, squawking in alarm, one of the creatures moved.
"What happened?" Valley moans, her throat is parched and her feathers are caked in salt.
Arbor quickly slides down to the sand below, the salt on Valley's feathers was making his belly wilt. Thunder, Skydash, Nika, and Nightlynn soon wake up to.
"Where are we?" Skydash rasps.
They finally get a good look around at the island they crashed on. They were in a crescent cove, the white sand blinding them. Palm trees dotted the island, while a forest is seen further up the coast with a big mountain in the distance.
"Guys, doesn't this look familiar?" Nika asks.
They look at each other, it doesn't look familiar, they've never seen this island before! But, the blue sea, white sand, and palm trees calls forth a story they've all heard before.
"It can't be Death Island! That's just a myth!" Nightlynn gasps.
"Maybe, maybe not." Thunder rumbles.
"That is not helping Thunder!" Skydash yells, smacking Thunder on the head with her tail.
Violet and Arbor the snail where slowly making their way to the trees, waving at the gryphons to follow.
"Guys, I think the snails want us to follow them." Valley says.
"That's ridicu......." Nika trails off, the snails where making words in the sand.
"Follow us." Nightlynn says.
"Well, they want us to follow them." Thunder says.
They follow the snails into the forest, the cool shadows cooling them off from baking in the sun earlier. After walking for some time they come across a stream.
"YESS!!!! FRESH WATER!!" Nika yells, splashing into the cool stream to get a drink.
Her friends follow, they drank as much water has they could before helping each other wash all the salt off from their wings and body. Violet and Arbor slide around in a puddle on the shore, enjoying some pool time too. They walk out of the stream, refreshed and ready to go. Nika and Valley pick up their snails from the puddle. The wind whooshes through the trees, making eire sounds as it battles it's way through the thick trees.
"HI!" A strange voice yells.
Nika, Nightlynn, Thunder, Skydash, and Valley jump up, they thought they were alone, they begin looking around for the voice.
"Up here sillies!" The voice giggles.
Looking up they see a bit of a tree fall down, but it wasn't a tree, it was a creature. The creature had the head of a raptor, and the body of a horse. It was smaller than the gryphons, but looked to be faster in flight. Its head was a bright dark green, with big blue eyes. Its horse body was a dark brown, with light caramel brown spots on it. They didn't see the creature because it blended in perfectly with the trees it was hiding in.
"I'm Belinda!" Belinda says.
"Are you going to eat us!?" Valley gasps.
"Well, um. I guess it's safe to say we were..." Belinda says.
Valley looks positively pale at her words. And then, for the second time that day, they get a fright as a crowd of creatures reveal themselves. They were all the bright colors of the rainbow, the perfect colors for hiding in the bright forest that they call home. They part as an old, old Casper (for what else could they be) comes forth. Her wings were streaked with white, showing this was an ancient one indeed, but among the white you could see the dark red pink of her first color. Her horse body was brown, with silver claiming the brown fur. Her eyes were pale green, and were going blind from her long years alive. Though this Casper was smaller than all of them, the way she held herself showed that she demanded respect. Thunder, Nika, Skydash, Nightlynn, and Valley bowed, even though she wasn't their queen bowing before her seemed like a good idea.
"Hrm, so you DO know respect. I'm Berry, the mate to the dead Great Wing. I think we should all go to the village for a quick little chat." Berry says, in a shocking strong voice.
They follow the crowd of Caspers, and not even five minutes passed before they were in the village. It looked just like in the story, with the houses surrounding the village square, and the leader house in the center of it all. They follow Berry to her house, where they sit down and are waiting for some explaining.
"I'm sure you're wondering what's going on. And I will tell you, but first could I see your snails?" Berry asks.
Mystified, Nika and Valley pull out their snails and set them on the table.
"You have some children of Snaily and Snailette." Berry breaths.
"Um, Snaily and Snailette?" Skydash wonders.
"They are the spirits that made us. Sit down, and let me tell you the story of the ancient ones." Berry begins.
Long ago Snaily and Snailette made us, they looked like brown snails, but very very large snails. They told us how to live, and what we need to do. For a while everything was happy. We played with and served the Great Spirits, and they in return fed us and sheltered us. But one was angry, and didn't like the attention that Snaily and Snailette had. This THING looked different, we had found it and sheltered it, and it betrayed us by tring to defeat Snaily and Snailette. Her name was Nanna. It was a smoky black color, and made of a substance harder than diamond. She created an evil beast to do her bidding called Mirtang. She called in rain, and earthquakes and took our corner of the world out to sea, with Snaily and Snailette. Nanna, using dark magic turned the drinkable water of the sea into salt water, so that Snaily and Snailette could not leave, and Mirtang lives in the ocean, ready to eat anything that went in. Snaily and Snailette saw that they could not fight on our island anymore, so they took the fight to stars, where Nanna and they fight. But Mirtang was too heavy to go up, so he stays in the dark sea waiting for his food. But, Snaily and Snailette made a big storm that would carry food to our island, so that we can eat what we are supposed to eat, the storm is called Big Nelly. Snaily and Snailette chase Nanna, bring light to our island, but Nanna will chaser them, bring darkness and destruction.
"And that's the end!" Berry finishes happily.
"What does this have to do with us though?" Thunder growls.
"Why you have some children of Snaily and Snailette." Berry says, like this explained it all.
"OKEEEE...." Skydash says.
"Now you must be tiered of an old bird like me talking and talking, I'll have Belinda take you to your houses and feed you. I'm sure you're hungry from your  journey. Maybe tonight you can tell us your story." Berry says briskly.
"BELINDA!!!!" She yells.
"OK!!" Belinda answers, poking her head into the house.
Belinda beacons for them to follow her.
"Here are your homes! Sadly we don't have five ready homes, but you can share these two," Belinda says. "I'll be back with some food for you, and then I can take you to the cove to swim!"
"All right." Nika says.
Thunder and Skydash claim one house, while Nika, Nightlynn, and Valley claim the other.
Our new post!
~~~~~

The gryphons were waiting outside for Belinda when she bounced over their houses with food for them.

"Here's your food! This is tapir, I don't know if you have it where you come from." Belinda says.

The gryphons didn't answer, they were looking with open mouths at the weird things on her feet. They were gooey, and looking closely revealed them to be alive!

"What are on your feet?!" Valley blurts out.

"These! These little cuties are my pets! They're called Bouncies. They bounce, you can find them in the jungle if you want to try." Belinda exclaims.

"Oh." Valley says.

"Thank you for the food." Skydash says.

"Sure! It's the least we can do." Belinda says.

They sit down to eat the tapirs, their twiggy and fruity taste filling their mouths. Not entirely bad, but different.

"This is weird tasting!" Nika says, shocked.

"Really? I think it's the best and tastiest food in the whole jungle!" Belinda says.

"Yes, but we're not used to such food," Thunder growls. " And what's up with the forest and the flowers?!"

"You don't have forests like these? We call it a Rain Forest, you know, cause it rains a lot here," Belinda grins. "Come on! Let's go to the bay for a swim."

They leave their comfy homes and walk down the village square to the bay. Suddenly a crowd of babies rush them. They were cute, with their long lanky legs and fuzz on their heads.

"Belinda! Belinda!!! Come take us to the bay!" They squeal, jumping on her.

"Sorry, no can do kiddos! You know the new rules." She sighs, looking almost as sad as the children.

"BUT WHY???????" They groan.

"Sorry, go to your mothers, I have to show the guests to the bay for a swim." She says.

The children walk off, looking sulky and sullen.

"Foals!" Belinda humps.

And she didn't say a word as they walked to the bay, keeping a grumpy silence.

They arrive at the bay, it looked just the same since they had left it for the cool shade of the woods.

"Hop on in! They water feels great!" Belinda says, leaping into the water with a big splash.

Nika, Valley, and Nightlynn soon follow, with happy squeals they join Belinda. Thunder and Skydash follow more slowly, not that happy with getting their feet wet as the younger gryphons. They had fun in the bay, laughing happily as Belinda trys to teach them to catch fish. Soon they begin to get tiered and head to the shore. But, crashing in the woods causes them to stop, and look for the source. Then, a foal run laughing into the waves.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT COMING TO THE BAY?!?!?!?!" Belinda cries crossly.

The foal didn't answer, it was too busy staring in horror at the dark shape rushing toward him. The thing was HUGE, and was drawing all the light from around it. Red eyes, glowing with hate glare at the poor foal. It's fins jutted out of the shallow water, jagged like a cliff. The waves that were being made by the thing were huge, sweeping the gryphons and Caspers back toward the shore. It was a dark gray, with cuts and scrapes covering its body, and a big gapping mouth, full of teeth opened wide, about to swallow the foal whole.

"NOOOO!" A wild yell fills the air.

And so quick that the gryphons almost missed it, Belinda pushed the foal out of the way, taking his place as the meal. With a snap and a gulp, the thing swims back into the big dark ocean, taking Belinda with it.

And here's the new post!!!!!
~~~~~~
The village was in an uproar, Caspers running around looking for their foals, looking for family, and the village leader bellowing for silence. That was the sene that meet the gryphons and the foal when they returned to the village.
"Where's Running Wind?! Where's my foal!" A golden Casper was yelling.
"Here I am Mama!" Running Wind yells, running over to his mother.
"Don't you ever go running off again!" She scolds her child, while taking him away.
Berry spots the gryphons hovering at the edge of the chaos, looking scared to enter the crowd of people running about. With a flick of her head she calls the gryphons to her home. Valley takes a deep breath in, like she's about to dive under water before entering the crowd. Fighting against the current, they head to Berry's home. They reach the stairs, and gripping onto the soft wood they pull themselves out of the river of bodies to join Berry in her home.
"Where's Belinda?" Berry snaps.
"A big giant thing ate her!" Valley says.
"He's becoming braver, we need more time!" Berry growls to herself.
"Um... Could you tell us what that thing was?" Nika asks.
"Yes, and what's just going on here too." Thunder growls.
"The thing you saw was Mirtang." Berry sighs.
"Mirtang! From the story?" Nightlynn asks.
"Yes, he's been stalking our island for years, hoping to catch us. He's been getting braver and braver, to beach himself for a little snack." Berry confirms.
"So, what can you do?" Skydash asks.
"Nothing." Berry growls, "Someday he will succeed in sinking our island, and that will be the end of the Caspers."
"Can't we do anything to help?" Nika asks, even though the Caspers ate there kind, they all felt that they couldn't let a race die out.
"No, there's nothing you can do, one day we are all going to be eaten, it's just a matter of time." Berry sighs, suddenly looking old, "The only thing you can do is to leave the island while you still have the chance, before you get eaten to."
Belinda was falling, falling, falling, in a dark, damp tunnel of gloom. She couldn't see anything, she was completely cut off from the light.
"This is all Running Winds fault! IF he hadn't come to the bay I would never of gotten eaten." She growls.
"Tell me about it." A voice sighs.
"Whose that!?" She yells.
"I'm Tapir, sadly I got eaten too. So I'm just falling, falling, and falling. Some day we'll hit the stomach, or we'll die before we get there." Tapir sighs.
"Well, we have to get out! Were are you anywhere?" She asks.
"About two and a half years below you." He says.
"TWO AND A HALF YEARS! YOU'VE BEEN FALLING FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS?!??!?!?!" Belinda shouts, "How come you aren't dead?"
"An ancient Casper skill, long forgotten. It comes naturally, the ability to stop your hunger for a hundred years." He
sighs.
"Oh." She says, "What if I just tear a hole in his neck? That way I'll be able to escape!"
"That won't work, but I guess you have to try." He sighs.
"That sighing is getting annoying." She thinks to herself.
Reaching her claw out, she tries to cut through, only to have her claw burned.
"OUCH!!!!! Why did my claw get burned?" She growls.
"Acid coats his neck, making it hard to cut free." Tapir sighs.
"What if I got a really sharp thing, like a sword or something?" She wonders.
"He's too smart for that, he only swallows prey, not sharp pointy metal things." He sighs.
And so Belinda gave up, she would of liked to talk to Tapir more, but he stopped answering her.
