She staggered into

Chatterbox: Inkwell

She staggered into

She staggered into her old home, looking around. In short, it was bewildering. New faces ran about in the streets, all calling to one another happily.

They didn't know. It was better that way, she knew, but it still hurt not to have her and her friends' names called out instead. These new neighbors, should have been her friends too.

But instead, she had chosen to tear up her roots, and try and hide her broken heart again. She had to drop by, and say hello. Ask how everyone was doing.

And make it alright. If she just came back once; not to stay, but to say hello, to make it feel better. It still hurt, that much was obvious.

It would never stop hurting, but some things might deaden the pain a little; rust the edge of the sword. Some things like extending a hand in friendship once more. With some, she had already.

But she had to extend this to the place, too. They would welcome her back, it was true. But they had rebuilt without her, and it felt so, very different.

Now, she was ready to make peace, and lay all of the old ghosts of the pasts to rest. And with that, she stood up on the soapbox, and yelled, "So, how are you all doing?"

Lol, you don't have to ask! Anybody can peek around into the past.

Sirius and Lupin are awesome too. ^^

Hate to butt in this way.  I just saw something I could relate to.

I actually started a fight in a certain thread where I posted twice in a solo write, even though I wasn't the writer!  Everyone got pretty mad at me, and I actually thought about leaving.

Hi Cho, I'm Treble Clef!  I really like Harry Potter too.  I like Hermione Granger.  Which characters do you like (other than Cho Chang, I'm assuming?)  I'm new on the CB, but I've seen your name around here a few times.  Just a random question: Why is their a soapbox in some posts?  What does a soapbox have to do with anything?  And what even is a soapbox?  Is it a box with soap?....Sorry if these questions offended you, or if they're little weird.  I'm just curious.

A soapbox is a traditional raised place a person may step upon to give a speech, especially an important one, such as a persuasive one for a cause, a so-called speaker's platform.

I asked GreenMango that same question! My favorite is Hermione, too. ^^ She's awesome.

The soapbox was originally Abigail S.'. Now CBers will often borrow it to make big announcements which are only related to the CB, and often using the same sort of style that I used when writing this thread. (The CB is a city which we all live in, that is.)

Yeah, what the admin said. But also, there's a tradition of soapboxes throughout Cricket CBer history. I'm not sure exactly when or how it started, you'd have to ask someone who'd been on the CB for a bit longer than me.

Cho's right, the soapbox was first used by Abi. It's a bit famous around here, and quite a few CBers have used the soapbox when delivering an important speech. Note, though, that during a phase when we were tottering on the edge of a war (that didn't happen, thank goodness), Indigo burned the soapbox, and it can no longer be stood upon. I think the Ashes of the Soapbox were mentioned at some point, though, so its legacy lives on.

Hi, I'm new, so you won't know me, but I really like the story! Also, can someone please tell me what AEs are? I've seen them some other places and I was wondering...

Thank you, Kitten!

AE stands for Alter Ego, and they are characters which the people will make. They tend to reflect certain parts of your personality.
