Castle Solo Write

Castle Solo Write

---

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away, there was a castle. A big castle, a mysterious castle, a happy castle, a sad castle, a busy castle. It was all of these things and more. The common folk passed by everyday. Some entered, to voice their concerns, to voice their wishes. Some entered, for unknown purposes, and some never left.

This was a castle. But not just any castle, oh no. It had a name. Florin Castle. And inside this castle, a story unfolded . . .

In regards to the character sheet

For this character sheet, you're allowed to meet any character, as long as it fits the requirements of being able to fit in to a medieval fantasy setting. Your character is allowed to have magic but I might ask if I can tweak it slightly (just go all out, I generally don't care). The password is: omnipotent. Your character can also be anyone that has any relation to the castle! So, your character could be the crown prince! Or a servant. Or a commoner who passes by the castle everyday. Or a witch in the castle dungeons. Anyone

Also, for job/position, if your character is, say, a child, you can just put child, or whatever description fits your character closest.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, or on YWP (if you're on it). Also, if you have any suggestions for plot/worldbuilding or any requests, feel free to ask too!

Max 1 character per person.

Accepting 10 people!

---

Yep, a solo write! I know I already have a ski lodge, but it's almost done anyway, and I expect this will take a while to fill up. Please read the whole thing, idk if the information is that important but it's important anyways (maybe, I honestly don't know).

Name: Marina

Age: 17

Gender: female, she/her

Job/position: helps with the family farm and works in the market.

Personality: Marina has a somewhat cynical view on life, but still wishes she could do something important someday. Hard worker, serious and sensible. She can seem unfeeling and even a bit mean, but she isn't really. She feels things deeply but hides her emotions from most people. She can be influenced to do bad or good, and if she was in Hogwarts she'd probably be a Slytherin.

Appearance: dark skinned with long black braided hair. Tall and lanky but still strong.

Talents: she is fairly strong, good at long-distance running, quick with her hands and very precise.

Flaws: she isn't particularly smart (not dumb, either, but she isn't really a booksy kinda person) and as I said, she's not a bad person but might do bad things if she needs to. She's a pessimist, which I'm not sure is really a flaw, but, um, yeah.

Family: her parents are farmers, but her mom goes to the town to sell their stuff, and Addie goes with her, passing Castle Florin on the way. She has twin brother and sister who are 10. She cares a lot about her family, even though her father doesn't seem to care about her very much.

Password: ompnipotent

shipping: yes, boys only

other: none for right now. This really isn't the type of charrie I usually make, which was fun somehow.

Is there still room for me?

Name: Kira Tormin

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Job/position: Training to be a member of the royal guard

Personality: Cocky and thinks she's better at fighting then she actually is. But she's also loyal to her friends, despite those downsides. She also has a soft spot for donuts.

Appearance: tall with black hair, blue eyes, and leather boots. She always carries some form of weapon, even if it's just a pocketknife.

Talents: good at dodging and is light on her feet. She also enjoys climbing things and can scale most buildings.

Flaws: cockiness and bragging.

Family: The head of the Royal Guard took her in, and she has no known relatives.

Password: Omnipotent

Shipping: Sure, with guys around her age.

Other: Has an extreme claustrophobia

If there are no more spots, ignore this post please.

I'd love it if you could draw Liam! but I know that you're always busy with picturings, so it's totally fine if it takes a while or if you don't have time to do it at all.

Name: Roslin "Roz" Song

Age: 17.5

Gender: Female

Job/Position: Princess Bella di Rochertt-Florin's handmaid

Personality: Very, very, very patient. Quiet, helpful, easy to talk to, a good listener, and she smiles a lot.

Appearance: Caramel-colored skin, green eyes, mousy brown hair. Her uniform is a pale brown blouse and a dark green skirt. She added a rope as a belt, because when she started working the skirt was too big, and then she decided she liked it. She also wears soft brown boots and a green ribbon to hold back her hair, which is long and poufy.

Talents: Although it isn't her job, she's quite good at last minute alterations if her highness isn't happy with a dress.

Flaws: She gets distracted really easily and spaces out a lot.

Family (or the lack thereof): Her mother died soon after her littlest brother was born, and her father is sick and can't work. She has two little brothers, Davin (8) and Kev (5), and one little sister, Sage (14). She works to support them.

Password: omnipotent

Shipping: Yes. Boys her age, but they can't be a jerk.

Other: She doesn't have the highest opinion on her Highness the Princess, but obviously she doesn't say that.

Edit: Scratch what I wrote in the Other section, please replace with: she doesn't have the highest opinion of the King or Queen, especially their parenting methods, and feels kind of bad for the Princess. She also blames the Princess's vanity on her parents, although none of what I just wrote is widely known.

Chapter 1

---

“Ow!”

Sylvia looked down at her bleeding finger. A splinter, yet again. She would ask the carpenter to do something about the loom later, but right now, she had to finish the last square of white cloth, for the ship’s sails. Sylvia wished she could sail away, to foreign places far away, but unfortunately, reality hit her like a flying pig - it just wasn’t possible, not without supernatural interference.

Sylvia sighed, and looked out the castle window, out to the bright sunshine and blue sky and fluttering birds. She would be able to take her leave, and have some fun, finally, just once she completed this sail.

After an hour of hard work, Sylvia was finally done. “Finally!” she exclaimed, standing up and stretching her arms.

Gathering the cloth, Sylvia took her basket of fruit and started walking. She was headed to the docks, where all the ships and all the sailors were.

Castle Florin was as busy as it could be. Everyone had their hands full, preparing for the princess’s sixteenth birthday. Decorations were being hung by servants, gardeners were rushing to get the best flowers and vegetables in, the kitchens were hurriedly making preparations for the banquet.

Everyone seemed to be in a rush - except for Sylvia.

Sylvia had one job - to make a tapestry, and she had finished that ages ago. So now she was completely free for the rest of the day, at least until she had to help serve food at the birthday banquet.

Maybe I’ll ask Brigit if she wants to go to the market to pick up some fruit. She’s on holiday today too, since her master already finished the gloves.

Brigit and her master’s tailor shop was okay, but not high profile enough to make the princess’s dress. They did get the pride of having made her gloves though. Bridget had whispered to Sylvia one day that the gloves were the most expensive thing she had ever made. Black unicorn silk, and embroidered with golden thread, it was probably more expensive than a year of Sylvia’s pay.

Sylvia stepped out of the castle, and onto the cobbled stone road. Humming a jaunty tune, she stopped at a crossroad to adjust her large sunhat.

All of a sudden, a man darted past her, clutching a bag of golden coins.

“Oh look, a thief,” was all Sylvia could say, before a black cat streaked towards her, in pursuit of the man (maybe because of the stench of fish emanating from him).

A young man with messy blonde hair ran behind the cat, in pursuit of the man as well (maybe because it was his gold coins that the man stole).

The cat screeched to a stop right in front of Sylvia, suddenly having a change of mind. The young man didn’t. He ran forward at full speed, his foot caught on the black cat’s tail, and he toppled over, knocking Sylvia down to the ground with a crash.

“Ow!” Sylvia yelped, the hard stones digging into her back.

The young man jumped up, looking at Sylvia.

“Oh, I’m so sorry m’lady!” the young man said, picking up Sylvia’s basket and hat, and helping her up.

Sylvia dusted off her pink dress, looking up at the man. He seemed to be about seventeen, with ruffled blonde hair, blue eyes, and a thin scar on his cheek. He looked too dressed up to be running around chasing thieves - he was wearing a fine white shirt, embroidered blue vest, navy breeches, and fancy metal boots and greaves.

It took a second for the realization to set in.

“You’re Sir Madadh-Làidir!” Sylvia gasped, “Of the Neach-Dìon Knights!”

He looked up at Sylvia, smiling. “Oh, I suppose I am! Please call me Arc though, Madadh-Làidir is too hard to pronounce, even for me,” he said, “Well, since you know who I am, why don’t you tell me your name, m’lady? Also, I’m truly sorry for knocking you over.”

“I’m Sylvia, and no worries. Black cats are bad luck, everyone knows that.”

“Well-”

Before Arc could finish his sentence, a dark-skinned girl with long, black braided hair ran up to him. “Arc, you need to see a witch-doctor, straight away. Black cats and bad luck aren’t trivial matters,” she said seriously.

“I didn’t think you believed that Marina!” Arc said, “You have a pet black cat yourself!”

“Well it’s not my familiar, is it?” Marina said, “Magical black cats bring bad luck, and it’s best to find a practitioner to counter that as soon as possible.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine, I’ll go tonight,” Arc said, waving it off.

“Okay. And who are you?” Marina asked, turning to Sylvia.

“Um, I’m Sylvia,” Sylvia gulped.

First a Neach-Dìon Knight, and now one of the prettiest girls Sylvia had ever met! This day was more exciting than the time Brigit ate a caterpillar!

“Well, it was a pleasure to meet you Sylvia, nice to see you too, Marina! I’ve got a thief to catch, goodbye!” Arc said, already running off toward the receding figure of the thief.

As Sylvia and Marina watched him run, he tripped over a rock, got back up, and kept running.

Marina sighed, and shook her head. “He never took witches seriously. Everything else, yes, but magic? No. I guess combat and magic don’t really mix,” she said.

“Um . . . you’re really pretty!” Sylvia stammered.

“Thanks, I guess,” Marina said in a flat voice.

Sylvia looked down at her dress which was covered in dust. Murmuring a small cleaning spell, she watched as the dust flew off and settled on the ground.

“Where did you learn to do that?” Marina asked.

“My mom, actually! She’s the castle’s witch-doctor, but I’m not as good at magic as her. I only know small magic,” Sylvia explained.

“Okay,” Marina said, “well, I have to go now. Goodbye.”

Sylvia watched Marina leave, with the feeling that she hadn’t made a particularly good impression on her. Or perhaps Marina was just eternally grumpy, who knew.

Sylvia continued on her way to the marketplace, humming the same jaunty tune as before.

Awesome! So, I just thought of an interesting background for Marina: her dad is actually a sailor that her mom fell in love with when she was younger, but he had to go back to sea and the mom married some other guy eventually and Marina was raised not knowing he wasn't her actual dad. Recently she found out. Unfortunately, although Marina's mom wanted him to be like her actual dad, he held a grudge against Marina and thought of her as a reminder that the main reason the mom married him was so Marina could have a dad. Yeahhhh you don't have to include that if you don't want though.

Sorry this is late!!

Name: Lena Mayforth

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Job/Position: Baker

Personality: Optimistic and clever, always cheerful, friendly to whomever she crosses paths with. She likes routine and can be sometimes set in her ways. She’s a well-known face in the village and is always there to lend a hand.

Appearance: She has mid-length light brown hair, usually kept in a braid, and hazel eyes. She’s average height, but looks shorter than she is because she’s slight in build. She usually wears dresses and aprons.

Flaws: She can be hard on herself, and as mentioned, too set in her ways.

Family: She has a sister that lives in town near her, and another sister and brother who both live further away. Her parents live on a farm just out of town. The sister near her is her older sister and has two children, Lena’s niece and nephew, whom she loves.

Shipping: Sure, but I’m not sure if there’s anyone really around her age.

Other: She goes to the castle every afternoon to deliver baked goods.
