Ann and Mary

Ann and Mary Liz's Story!

Okay, Mary Liz, I think we should do fantasy. I had a good one about a girl trying to learn to ride dragons, griffins and phoenixes in this thing called Flightschool. To pass from 5th to 6th, they have to have their own Flightbeast, which they get from a place called the Firepool. It is a giant volcanic pool filled with Flightbeast eggs. The eggs chooose you, and no egg has chosen the girl yet, so she should be in 7th grade, but is still in 5th. On the trip that they take to the Firepool, she runs off into the woods because a girl is teasing her, and she finds a very small, ice-cold pool. In the pool is a single jet-black egg. She takes it in her bag and when it hatches she finds out that it is a dark magic little black griffin. Dark magic Flightbeasts are supposed to be excecuted, but it is actually very nice so she decides to run away so that they don't kill it.

I hope you like the  idea. Bye!

I know, right? They're harder than girls.

Okay... the captain of the guards can be... *steals name from past rp* Darin d'Lubeo, and the younger guy could be... um. *fools around with internet translators* How about Tradire? That means "traitor" or "betray" in Italian.

Hmm, maybe we could switch it around a little so it doesn't sound so much like traitor? It would be sorta random if a traitor had a name like traitor..

*mixes letters around* Um... Direrat? It's the same letters switched up, and it also sounds sort of creepish... like, jha know, dire and rat...?

Taerid? I had to take a letter out, but if you take a U out of Little House on the Prarie, it's Little Shoe on the Prarie. *Randomness*

Taerid, now that is a cool name. Shall we use that?

So, les see. We have Shay, the girl MC. Darin D'Lubeo, captain of the guard. Taerid, the Mysterious Person Who Is Not Really An Ally. Also, the dark magic dragon beast thing... Does en* have a name?

*non-gender-specific pronoun, ftr, methinks it's an MB thing.

I think it was a boy. Also, it's a griffin, so if you look up some pictures on Google it is the eagle\lion thing.

Wow. You're doing better than Katie and me, which, of course, has nothing to do with me almost never remembering to post on our thread... *feels awkward* Um. Who wants cookies?

Sorry. I'll get off your thread now. *apoligizes*

Oh, I couldn't possibly! *wrings hands*

Actually, if you like, I will. But, real quick, when does the beginning take place? When Shay gets enrolled in Filghtschool, or when she runs away with the Dark magic Flightbeast, or what? *six hours of sleep mode*

When she wakes up late on the day they go to the Firepool.

((*nod to iPod* Thank you, iPod. Good music makes my writing be less awful.

And yes, Sally is a result of my new Galinda obsession.))

Shay woke with a jolt, banging her head on the wall--- top bunk. It was light out, which showed how late she must be in awaking. Why hadn't Sally, her roommate, woken her up before going down to breakfast?

Annoyed at herself and Sally, the day only got worse as it continued. It was almost eight am, and the twelve-and-thirteen-year-old fifth year Flightstudents would be beginning the long, sweaty trek to the Firepool. Shay had been waiting for this day for years, though, and she would allow nothing to agitate her--- not the shower, out of hot water thanks to Sally, not the stain on her uniform, probably also courtesy of Sally, not the grainy oatmeal at breakfast. It was cold, due to Shay's lateness.

The other girls were clustered around Sally, the blue-eyed blond angel that teachers and students alike adored. Sally was always nicer than nice to Shay, which made Shay hate her. Nice people often annoyed Shay.

"Oh hello dear!" gushed Sally, waving airily to Shay. "We were just a tad bit concerned about you, dear, you were taking so long, are you feeling quite well---"

"Please, Sally, leave me alone," snapped Shay. "Mind your own business."

Sally's perfect mouth formed a perfect 'o' as she turned to the rest of the girls. The 'o' quickly eased into a gracious smile. "Poor Shay," she said to them sincerely, as though sharing a personal secret. "You know she's feeling awfully stressed, girls, and of course this is a big day." She laughed forgivingly, melodiously. "Be nice to her, darlings, won't you all? I'll be right back, girls, I think I've chipped a nail..."

And Sally drifted angelically away, leaving awkward Shay burning at the unfairness of her lot.

(Wow, that was really good! Keep it up, hope I can)

Shay didn't have long to wait out the sympathetic stares of her classmates (Who were now laughing among themselves every time Sally looked away). An old, strict looking woman burst out of the stables. She was wearing a leather flying helmet and a sour expression. "Line up by the fence, no talking please!", she screeched, saying the please like a death threat. Obviously, the teacher did not like this group and had no intention of helping them. "Inside the stables are the same beasts you have been riding all this session. Shay, you should have some experience riding. Go to the back of the line." Her classmates erupted in giggles. Sally smiled benevolently at her. The reason for this cruel joke was that Shay was on her third trip to the Firepool. In other words, she had failed to graduate twice, and she was three years older than everyone else.                                             The teacher led the line into the stables.
