Ann and Mary Liz's Story!

Okay, Mary Liz, I think we should do fantasy. I had a good one about a girl trying to learn to ride dragons, griffins and phoenixes in this thing called Flightschool. To pass from 5th to 6th, they have to have their own Flightbeast, which they get from a place called the Firepool. It is a giant volcanic pool filled with Flightbeast eggs. The eggs chooose you, and no egg has chosen the girl yet, so she should be in 7th grade, but is still in 5th. On the trip that they take to the Firepool, she runs off into the woods because a girl is teasing her, and she finds a very small, ice-cold pool. In the pool is a single jet-black egg. She takes it in her bag and when it hatches she finds out that it is a dark magic little black griffin. Dark magic Flightbeasts are supposed to be excecuted, but it is actually very nice so she decides to run away so that they don't kill it.

I hope you like the  idea. Bye!

Shay pulled the drawstrings of her canvas bag around the egg. She hoped the insulation would keep it warm enough to hatch, seeing as the other girls would be putting their bronze eggs in a special room that was heated to the exact temperature that a dragon nest would be. The egg still felt cold, even when surrounded by warm grasses.

((Sorry, I'll finish this later. I have a pretty tight schedule, what with writing two narrations for frozen scenes, memorizing two scripts, and magically whipping up a comedy act for between two scenes.))

((Sorry for being so late. This is the last day of all the craziness, because rehearsal is today.))

((You're busy. Makes me think there are Other Mroses in the world. And that's a scary thought. XD

Urgh my prose-writing style is all wrong because of screnzy. Screnzy messes with your mind and makes you think in scripts...

Good luck with whatever you're doing/rehearsing for etc. :D))

//Shay//

A thump came from behind Shay, followed by a somewhat condescending laugh. She spun around quickly.

Nothing was there.

Shay raised an eyebrow, hoped she wasn't going crazy, and turned back to her egg.

Another snicker.

She swiveled around. "Who's there?" she demanded. It was meant to sound commanding, but instead her voice was hoarse and timid.

Nothing still, so she turned back to the egg and nearly had a heart attack as she stifled a half-shriek.

"I'm Taerid," announced a lean, raggedy boy standing in front of her. "And you're doing that all wrong."

"That's no ordinary egg you have there. That's a Dark egg." Shay gasped as Taerid looked solemnly at her. All the girls had been told how evil Dark flightbeasts were. They had all been terrified that night when their mothers or fathers had sat down beside them and taught them the story of the War, when Dark creatures had been used by the Other Side to kill the old king. Eventually, the young prince had won, and there was peace once again. But still the Dark beasts thirsted for revenge, lived for the day when the whole world would be ruled by the Other Side. That was how their parents had told it to them, and yet Shay could hardly believe that the egg in her hands was so evil. Taerid interrupted her thoughts. "You'd best turn that into the Guard, so they can take care of it." Take care of it is hardly the word, thought Shay. Everyone knew that Dark beasts were executed for the good of the kingdom.

((I think it would be interesting for the entire goverment to turn out evil. Maybe they could slaughter the (normal) dragons after they laid eggs and sell the (de-scaled) skin as leather? And the Other Side was trying to stop them?))

((I think that'd be good. Taerid can be working for the government and the captain of the Guard... and the captain of the Guard fought for the Other Side in the War?))

//Shay//

"How do you know all this?" Shay asked, gaping.

"Oh, I have a degree and stuff," Taerid said vaguely, with a fancy gesture. This sounded mildly impressive, so Shay tried not to be skeptical and instead nodded politely.

"Well, I don't know that I'm entirely comfortable with the idea of turning the egg in," Shay said lightly. "To the government, that is."

Taerid laughed. "Then you clearly don't know what you're talking about. You're from"... He surveyed her uniform. "... the Flightschool, yes?"

She nodded, and he smirked. "Figures."

"What do you mean?"

"The teachers there have some questionably and possibly subversive methods of instruction there," he said blandly. "I think it's only a matter of time before the government, shall we say, investigates it."

Shay was more confused than ever, but said nothing as Taerid spoke again. "I think I should travel with you," he was saying. "This forest can be dangerous, and I'm more trained with that sort of thing than any"... he paused, searching for the right words, "flightschool chick."

She snorted, but he smiled patiently. "We can discuss what to do with your egg," he said smoothly. "Now let's be off, shall we?"

((Wait, that would make the Captain of the Guard good, wouldn't it? Did I misunderstand something?))

Shay was confused. "Wait, where are we traveling?", she said as Taerid handed back the egg. "Somewhere safe.", he replied. "Obviously you don't want to give the egg up, so we'll wait for it to hatch and see what you think then. We have to go somewhere that the Guard can't find us." replied Taerid.

((Sorry for short, short, shortness, but I'll finish this later.))

((Sorry for the holdup... I'll post this weekend. Uhm... I don't think you want the full story, but this week has been... yeah. Lots of things going on.

*ellipse overuse*

Again, sorry. Is that okay?))
